Great service, even better food, and very comfortable rooms. Will definitely come here again

I probably had too high expectations for my first real Vermont bed and breakfast experience. The Old Stagecoach Inn is a lovely B&B right in the middle of Waterbury convenient to all the local attractions. This is a classic experience intended to encourage disconnecting from everything and relaxing in a cozy environment. The classic and ornate room had a great bed and lots of space, but the lack of a television and weak Wifi was tough. My room had a small and basic bathroom and a window air conditioner keeping up with the summer heat. The inn has a small bar downstairs with cold drinks and an opportunity to mingle with other guests. I really appreciated the cooked-to-order breakfast with delicious apple pancakes and sausage. You really need to appreciate the whole B&B experience to enjoy these places. This is a great way to interact with strangers and escape the wired world. If you have trouble with these, your experience may not be so inviting. The Old Stagecoach Inn is probably a great example of a Vermont bed and breakfast experience, but whether or not that experience is worthwhile is still rather subjective.

Stayed here on an overnight trip to Vermont. Called ahead of time to check prices and the gentleman who answered was very nice and helpful. The house itself is very picturesque. Great location walking distance to great restaurants and drinking in waterbury. They have different room sizes for different needs, our room was pretty small as we figured we would only be there for one night. The bed was comfortable though along with nice pillows ( I am a pillow brat). The breakfast is awesome and they have a lot of good options to order from. I got a belgian waffle which was good. The owners were hospitable but not super friendly or talkative. Overall would definitely recommend it in Waterbury. Had a great experience and if we are back in the area this is where we will be staying.

My first experience in a bed and breakfast and I really enjoyed it. We had a few minor mishaps but nothing too serious. One person in our party neglected to inform the inn that we would be a party of 3 and not 2 so we ended up having to share a king sized bed. Wasn't the businesses' fault but you really come to appreciate actual hotels with the ability to accommodate you in a different room with a high chance of availability. There was also a mix up with the amount of nights and amount charged for our stay which was corrected the next day by the owner. They were very attentive about it. Now for the rest of the good stuff... What a beautiful location. The building is so well kept. They have a nice patio with tables for you to enjoy their well known breakfast in town. Their eggs Benedict were fantastic with homemade Hollandaise sauce. It was a nice suprise to find out our breakfast was included with our stay when we asked for the bill. Free WiFi was also available. We stayed in the back of the house (can't remember the room number) with a nice kitchen and even a small deck to sit outside with a view to the yard. The room had a nice king sized bed with a love seat. The bathroom was great, I'm not sure how they make it happen but the bathroom was not freezing in the mornings. They have the cutest little dog that roams around the bed & breakfast like he owns the place. Would definitely recommend staying here if you're in Waterbury.

The Eggs Benedict I was referring to....

If this place is not on a national radar of places to stay, it should be! The location is phenomenal, the owner and his staff are absolutely delightful, inviting and friendly. The inn is very atmospheric and very interesting. The rooms are beautiful and have a historic feel to them. They have a bar which is chock full of cans from the Alchemist and daily unique cocktails made an energetic bartender. They offer a free country breakfast for its guests with a variety of menu options. I ordered the eggs Benedict and it may have had the best hollandaise sauce I've ever tasted. (Everything was delicious, of course) Lastly, the room prices are extremely reasonable (especially for the area) so do yourself a favor and book a room here if you're even remotely interested in anything nearby. You will wonder why you didn't come here sooner.

There's a bar right downstairs!

This B and B was outstanding. My husband and I stayed two nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The staff was friendly (including the bird Sophie and dog Max) and very helpful. The history and ambiance of the house also added to our great experience. The bar downstairs is also a great touch, with great local beer available. The breakfast, both mornings, was delicious (eggs benedict, huevos rancheros and classic fried egg plus sausage all great) and were a great way to start our day. The location is also wonderful, just a walk to some great places to eat, drink and shop. Overall, we had a great time here and if in Vermont again we will definitely make our way back here.

ham and cheese omelet and eggs benedict, so yummy!

John helped me with discounted lift tickets along with a great ski report and for my kids first time hitting the slopes was a very successful one.

If you are looking for a real Vermont experience, The Moose Meadow Lodge is a great start to the journey. This beautiful home with cabin vibes has brilliant decor and character throughout the property. The amenities are far beyond what you'll find listed, thanks to the selfless owners, Greg and Willie. At the very least, you'll have a very comfortable stay. Greg and Willie will go above and beyond to make sure your overall visit to Vermont is worthwhile. We decided to travel to Vermont last minute for New Year's Eve. We booked the Moose Meadow Lodge on the drive up. We were welcomed with open arms. Greg showed us around the property, the lobby shop, brought us to our room and explained all the unique and exciting details of the house and property. We woke up each morning to a beautifully prepared breakfast. Since our trip was so last minute, we didn't have much of a plan. Greg was kind enough to sit down with us and help us map out our entire journey. He even helped us map an alternate route home that was more scenic. We didn't get to everything on the list, but everything he mentioned was perfect. You can tell he has a genuine love and passion for what he does. His advice and planning alone made the experience excellent. I can go on and on about the perfect stay we had. You can tell Greg and Willie are very passionate about what they do. You will never experience this kind of attention and care at a hotel. We are already planning our next stay here.

How am I the first to review this place? It seems like it has been here for years…read more Hmph!? Anyway, great location right off I-89. Pretty close to downtown Waterbury and on the way to Stowe. Perfect for us. The room we got is cozy but efficient. The TV is old and outdated, but the bed and bathroom were clearly updated recently. This place has the old homey Inn feeling without being too stuffy. The price is pretty reasonable too. My only complaints are 2 things. 1. No ironing board or iron in the rooms. I know this may sound crazy, but my clothes don't always travel well and I like to try and fix them if I can. 2. The outdoor deck off of our room. Its great to have a cute little deck to enjoy, but with no real windows in the room besides the sliders that go to the deck... making the deck a little more private would be awesome. I would have loved to have kept the slider open for a while, but since the deck is shared among everyone on the floor with no dividers between us, we couldn't. The only other window was in the bathroom and it had an AC unit in it. So we had to sleep with everything shut. Not a huge big deal, but worth mentioning. The simple breakfast in the am was a nice touch and everyone that works here is super friendly. I think we would come back again if we were in the area.

They make it sound as if you will be staying in a charming old Victorian B&B. When I got there, it was not charming, it was merely run-down. It had the feel of an old cheap motel. Admittedly, the owner told us they had recently taken over, but it was not a pleasant stay. We didn't suffer too much from the road noise (the Inn is right on the main road through town) but quaint and cozy it was not. Definitely way overpriced; you'd be better off staying at the Best Western down the road, still close to Ben & Jerry's if you're there for the ice cream factory tour. I would never consider staying at the Thatcher Brook Inn again, even if they were to give me a room for free.

We were up at Bolton Valley for a wedding and after checking out Sunday morning we were starrrving. We happened upon a charming 3 story period building with white porches and hanging plants, it was almost disgustingly adorable. But it had a sign outside saying they were serving breakfast. Sold. We went in and the inn is furnished with an array of antiquities and period furnishings but not to the point it feels stuffy or overdone. More cozy. We got the last table in the tiny dining room and the woman running the breakfast invited us to help ourselves to the table in the next room, full of fruit, pastries, granola, tea and coffee. The instant gratification of this set up could not have made me happier, except that then as we waited and munched on granola and fruit and tea, the service was so attentive and warm, it would almost be off putting if it hadn't been so genuine. Anyway we both ordered from a long list of hot breakfast items. Eggs benedict and a mushroom cheddar omelet. This is clearly a place to sit and savor the morning and the fact that our breakfast took longer than it might at some of our boston haunts actually added to my overall enjoyment of the meal. I was so unhurried and unfettered by time. When our breakfast came we sank our teeth into some seriously delicious food. My mushroom omelet was maybe the best I've ever had... I don't know how they did it but the mushrooms were SO flavorful. And the eggs benny by my boyfriend's account were "top notch." As a side we each got a potato patty which was essentially a latke and SO delicious. Perfect for soaking up extra hollandaise. And seriously, the service was exceptional. Attentive, but not overly so, and I think the thing I liked most was the family feel that the staff created. It felt like we'd been invited over to breakfast. I don't know why or when we will be in Waterbury VT again, but I think I would make a point to go here just to go to the Old Stagecoach Inn again. And not just for breakfast next time because if this breakfast made my day the way it did, I can only imagine if I stayed here how happy I would be!
