Went for dinner and the food was OK. I had a new Citizen Cider I've never had before (Strawberry crush) and it was good. Sweet, but good. Had a wedge salad, Ruben, and Rachel sandwiches. If I knew the rye bread was going to be buttered, I would have asked them to leave that off (it was probably buttered and then placed on the grill). However, the service was the excellent part of the meal. The waitress was really good. She's the one who recommended the cider to me. She offered a sample taste first, but I just went with a full glass. The server who brought the salad asked if we needed anything else when he brought it. While eating the salad, the waitress checked on in us to see if we needed anything. Our sandwiches came and were correct. Again, the server asked if we needed anything else. Waitress checked in and asked if I needed another drink. So many servers do the minimum, but want a maximum tip. This was the opposite. I'm local. On a slow Sunday afternoon it took 20 minutes for my beer to arrive after ordering, not because they were busy, but the bartender (the loudest person in the room) was more focused on telling stories about himself to someone (who seemed just as annoyed as me by it) rather than pouring drink orders. My Reuben finally arrived 45+ minutes after ordering and the bread was burnt. My beer was empty a couple minutes after the sandwich was delivered and the waitress never came back to ask if I wanted another until long after I was done eating and waiting on the check. Had a similar mediocre experience here a year ago. Again, local, and not planning to ever come back here again. read more

A delicious little spot in Stowe, VT. There's a nice patio but it was pouring rain so we sat inside. Each booth had a TV with it's own remote which is something I have not seen before. Definitely a perk for families with young kids. Service was exceptional from the moment we walked in. Our food was superb! I'm ashamed to say that I've driven by this place almost every day since I moved here...and never stopped in until tonight.we chose to sit at the bar, since it was packed on a Monday night. This is one of the only area establishments open seven days a week. That mistake won't happen again. This is a beautiful establishment, very clean and well maintained. Lots of cozy booths, large U-shaped bar, and tables below. In water Esther's the large outside deck that looks over Main Street would be a great place to dine and have drinks. Wanna hear something extra cool? The bar has hooks for purses (which seems rare in VT) AND...USB plugs for your devices. That's just a crazy awesome perk. The drafts and beer menu is well put together with lots of Vermont microbrew. I had a McGillicudy's Moscow Mule that was awesome. My friend enjoyed her Tito's and sprite. Nicole, our bartender, was super helpful and attentive. I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich and fries. She got the Philly cheesesteak. We split the key lime pie for dessert because, it's Pi day. Everything was delicious. I wish my fries had been a little crispier, but the food came out fresh and hot. The key lime pie reminded me more of a cheesecake (and I loved it). There were at least six large screen tvs with different sports and shows on for every taste. Even the booths had their own tvs. We sat near some nice folx who were friendly. It's been so long since I've sat in a bar and had a nice conversation with strangers. -They later surprised us by paying for our dessert (classy move). This may become a favorite hangout. read more

Our waitress / cook staff kind of botched our experience. Food was good all around but mistakes were made: *Someone forgot to put in an order / cook an order of fish & chips. So when all the meals came out it wasn't until 5 minutes when the waitress came back we brought to her attention a meal was missed. *One of the meals was the crispy chicken Cesar salad which was brought out as a chicken sandwich. When brought back to be replaced the chicken in the salad was buffalo chicken. Long story short she took the meal off the check. I enjoyed my french onion, great cheese pull and broth was good. Wasn't crazy about the bread in it. Cheese steak was enjoyable, would have liked it more juicy but very flavorful. It's a nice pub, certainly better than Charlie B's which that review is worth reading, but for a ski town I thought this would be better. read more

I went here with four friends. We waited half an hour, even though it was almost empty and one of us didn't even order. My friend couldn't eat her Reuben sandwich because it was horribly salty, and all of our fries were soggy and cold. My burger was decent. When my friend expressed that the sandwich was too salty to eat, our waitress Emily didn't offer or mention any kind of refund. Menu states the wings as "Famous", looked and tasted like something I could've prepped at home from the freezer. We ordered the fish tacos and the McPhilly Cheesesteak. The fish was good being it was COD but for the amount of fish to tortilla portion, meh! Coleslaw that came with the tacos was good at least. The Philly Cheesesteak was good, the portion was disappointing as it was way too small to be a Philly cheesesteak (Bun was a bit bigger than a hot dog bun). We were staying nearby for the weekend and were looking for a low key place for dinner. Server was confused by my husband's drink order (captain and coke) and asked him to spell it. Then came back to the table and asked him what it was. Ordered the pretzel stick appetizer and chips with onion dip. The cheese that came with the pretzels tasted awful and was chunky. The onion dip was basically sour cream. I Ordered the pulled pork sandwich and asked for no Cole slaw on it and it came with it on. My husband asked for a regular coke because his drink was awful and it never came. Would never come back here again unfortunately. Awesome lunch on a Friday. We sat outside - it was a lovely day. We ordered the pretzel appetizer and it was hot and slathered in melted butter and salt with an addictive cheese sauce - amazing. I asked the waitress what sandwich to order and she recommended the Reuben - I was absolutely not disappointed. It was incredible. The marbled rye bread was grilled and the edges of the corned beef (real - not deli-sliced) were crispy from the grill. Gooey thousand island sauce and tart sauerkraut topped it off - sooo good. The fries were crispy and perfectly suited for malt vinegar and salt (of course they have malt vinegar on the table!). My husband had a Vermont chicken sandwich and he said it was delicious. The kids meals were fine - but they absolutely loved the warm brownie sundae. The service was excellent. I wish we lived closer because I'd totally make this a local haunt. read more

This is the worst place ever. I waited a half hour for the waitress to bring us a drink. A blonde lady sits next to us after we've waited 30 minutes and says I am your bosses wife. So the waitress brings her a drink before us. Then we were eating our nachos that were ordered with the drinks we finished them and were waiting to order our main dish and more drinks the waitress came back after 45-60 minutes. I asked for the check and it never came I finally got mad and went to the bar to pay the bartender said we could pay from our table I told her it didn't t work I just wanted to pay and leave. If I could've rated this place a zero I would've. Over the last year there service has gone down hill I don't normally rate places but I can't let people experience this place because it's the worst. On numerous other occasions we have ordered take from here and when we complained the orders were wrong the manager wouldn't call us back or make it right. I would recommend McDonalds before eating here. The manager should be fired and the owner should be a shamed. I have tried to give these people the benefit of the doubt.
