The Farm

The only restaurant we visit when we're in the area - always such a treat & always amazing food/atmosphere/&service. Attempted to visit another restaurant in the vicinity but there just is no comparison.

This place is really cute! They have great indoor and outdoor seating with a fun atmosphere. It's a little on the pricier side, but we really enjoyed the pickled vegetables and thought they were a standout.

It's a good restaurant and one of the best spirit programs I have seen. Getting a flight is one of the best things you get can here and the food is pretty good. It's worth it when you can get a seat and eat there. Let me give you the reasons why I knocked it down to 4 stars: 1. Getting a table for dinner here can be difficult especially during the weekend. Yes, even when it's below freezing point. They are that popular and not being able to make a reservation doesn't help. 2. The only dish I found out off many occasions and many items is the sausages. It's a bit more grainy in texture that as off putting for me. Because it's grainy, I can imagine that this was made by hand instead of mass produced.

LOVED this little spot. We opted for the brewery side because we wanted to sit outside. Thoroughly enjoyed the nachos and the vibe!!

The food was great - easily some of the best BBQ in the area. Despite it being a busy Saturday, we were seated quickly and our food arrived timely as well. We ordered the ribs and brisket plates and split both dishes, which turned out to be a great choice. Each plate was delicious and flavorful in its own way. The brisket was cooked perfectly- tender and flaky, while the ribs were even more flavorful thanks to the BBQ sauce and fell right off the bone. At $26 and $29 per dish, we were hoping for slightly larger portions of coleslaw or sides. The interior was a bit dark, though it fit the overall vibe very well. The bar area was lively, even without a TV, which was nice to see. Overall, the atmosphere was great, and I'll likely be back when i'm in the area.

I've been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile. I finally decided to make it happen. I ordered the brisket sandwich, my husband had the burnt ends and grits, and my daughter had the fried chicken sandwich. We also ordered the duck fat fries to share. Out of the the meals, we agreed the chicken sandwich was the best. Between the texture, flavor, and creaminess of the pimento cheese. We thought the meat was okay. My biggest disappointment was the bbq sauce. I much prefer Texas bbq to Carolina bbq. My husband wants to go back to try the wings but I'll skip returning. The portions are on the small side and sides are al la carte so it adds up. If you enjoy Carolina bbq it will probably be a hit for you. The service was excellent.

Our last summer trip to Vermont was our first time stopping at Pro Pig, and now we'll have to visit each trip! We ate in the restaurant side - they don't take reservations, but we were seated right away when we arrived (early dining times with a toddler FTW, iykyk.) Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the various options on the draft beer list and cocktail menu and gave us great recommendations. We started with the duck fat fries, you can't go wrong with these whenever they're on a menu. The cornbread was moist and very flavorful, my kiddo ate it up! The 1/2 pound plate of chopped pork was BOMB - the meat is so tender, and pre-doused in their Eastern North Carolina BBQ sauce which is very vinegary which I loved. The sliced brisket plate was also top notch - the brisket was smoked very well and the portion was a hefty thick cut. Great atmosphere, great people, great food!

Nothing short of perfect. Got the brisket and the rice pudding. Everything came out super fast. Bartender was great. LOVE the music. Drop the playlist rn.

Service was attentive and friendly. Food portions were solid without being overwhelmingly heavy. Our cocktails were unique and smooth. One in our party is allergic eggs but thought the cocktail with egg whites looked good. Our server immediately said they could do an alternative base for that texture and it turned out great. Strongly recommend :)

Stopped in for dinner on a Friday evening and had a nice meal! We were able to get street parking a little bit down the road. We were able to get a spot at the bar which was nice. Bartender was nice and able to give good recommendations. We started with the roasted carrot salad and loved it! The carrots with the Greek yogurt and chili crisp were delicious! A very unique dish. I then ordered the Mac and cheese and added chopped pork. The Mac and cheese was warm, creamy, with a great contrast with the crunch breadcrumbs. Pork was great add on. Overall a really nice meal and glad we stopped by!

Great atmosphere. Very hipster vibes, which we personally loved. Great selection of mocktails for those who don't drink. Staff was fast and friendly. One of the best burgers we've ever had. Brisket is 10/10

Good bbq, especially loved the fried ribs and the smoked wings. The sausage was a bit salty, cornbread a tad burnt/dry, and brisket oily and dry. On the bright side, their bbq sauce is super good!

Our first meal in Vermont, the last thing I expected was life-changing wings, but that's what happened! The dry rub wings were maple/sweet, spicy, and crunchy, and incredible in every way. This is the kind of top-tier food that induces food dreams. Everything else was so satisfying too. The coleslaw was full of flavor, the cornbread was soft and sweet (no dry, bland cornbread here!), we loved the marinated carrots (so tart and crunchy), and the meats were perfectly seasoned. Not surprisingly for a BBQ place, it smelled amazing from the moment we walked in the door. Our server was so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Wish we didn't live across the country from this gem!

An outside shot where they have their meats piled high behind the window and their smokers to the left.

A palette-pleasing panoply of plated perfection, Michael's On The Hill puts "epic" in epicurean…read more The Farm to Table restaurant offers fresh local delights, served with carefully concocted condiments that complement--but never overwhelm--the thoughtfully selected appetizers and entrees. The delectable dishes more than make up for the limited number of offerings; there's something for everyone at Michael's On The HIll. My partner and I visited Michael's On The Hill on a Saturday evening in mid-March; we reserved a table for two after we finished skiing at nearby Stowe. If you want a table during the high season, reserve it early--space is limited. Andrew greeted us at the door and after escorting us to our table, handed us off to Heather, our server. Heather is a Professional Server and it shows: Throughout our two+ hour meal, she was available but never intrusive and conversational but never too familiar: She's worked at Michael's for more than two decades and knows the menu perhaps better than the Chef--her recommendations were excellent: Rather than pushing the highest-price menu items, she suggested dishes based on her knowledge, experience, and guest preferences. We started with the local Artisinal cheese plate--three generous cheese selections accompanied by apricot chutney, sweet red grapes, pickled vegetables, candied walnuts, and toast points. The balance of sweet and sour was superlative; the appetizer presented tastefully on a cured wood bark platter--two or three people can pick their favorites and mix and match flavors. The tasteful teaser was a trailer for the main attraction. For entrees, I had the Maple Glazed Duck Breast with Cider Duck Glace accompanied by sweet potato hash, Orange and Arugula salad, and roasted baby carrots; my partner had the special: Beef Bourguignon on top of a cheese polenta with sauteed spinach and a delightful Mirepoix ("meer-PWAH"). Beef Bourguignon is a classic French stew of tender beef braised in red wine--hearty, flavorful, and filling, this French dish is perfect after a long day of skiing. Executive Chef Hess' flourishes transformed the traditional dish into a magically delicious medley of complementary flavors. The duck was cooked to perfection: Soft, warm, and tender on the inside with a hint of smokiness--balanced nicely by the maple glaze and the cider glace. The sweet potato hash was actually small, sweet potato "cubes" mostly hidden below the citrusy salad. When I finally forked the sweet potato cubes, they'd soaked up the cider duck glace, detonating a cluster bomb of flavors in my mouth. We paired the smokey duck and stewy Beef with a succulent bottle of Andrew Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon, whose rich cherry-cassis notes and silky tannins enhanced the sauces and spices of our entrees. Micheal's wine list reads like a Great Novel--long, engaging, occasionally intimidating. Here's where Heather re-enters our Micheal's meal story: In addition to letting us taste an alternative or two from already-open bottles, her familiarity with the menu made our decision much easier. Finally, because I just can't say no to Tiramisu, we were presented with a generous slice of sponge cake soaked in espresso (beans cured down the street), layered with whipped Moscarpone cheese, topped with cocoa powder. We cherished a couple bites and asked to take the remainder home (by the way, Tiramisu is part of a healthy breakfast). Yes, Michael's On The Hill is pricey--with a 23% percent tip, our meal was about $275--but every bite was worth it. Find out for yourself.

The restaurant is in a farmhouse and it feels like it, the interior is so warm and inviting with beautiful views of the Green Mountains. Everything is farm to table and seasonal, and you can tell each dish is made with real care. I do wish they had more vegetarian options, but it feels good supporting such a wholesome local business. We got the breakfast pancakes to split, which we were very curious about. It was somehow an excellent pancake and also a unique experience. I also grabbed the spinach scramble and my wife got the potatoes verdes. The chorizo in her dish was surprisingly good, but the true unsung hero was the homemade biscuit. Definitely grab one of those! The homemade hot sauce is excellent and not too spicy but packed with flavor. It adds a ton to their egg dishes. We are going back tomorrow to check out the banana bread French toast, which our waitress said is not to be missed, but we simply didn't have any more room in our stomachs! Update after day 2: skip the corn beef hash, and the omelet we got was just so-so. The "scramble" style egg dishes are much better. The home fries didn't get enough love in yesterday's review. They are quite excellent. And, the banana bread French toast was as advertised. Don't miss it. This is his most often choice when we go to breakfast. The bacon was thick cut and really good- I tried a little bit. He said the hollandaise was the best he's ever had.
