Cool bbq spot with a nice outdoor picnic table seating amongst the tiger lilies, with the smokers wafting the aroma of the meats of your selection. Love the sides. Love the variety of smoked meats and sides. A fun spring, summer or fall spot. Great friendly service. Highly recommend it.

I absolutely love snowboarding and my girlfriend got interested in skiing recently, the fire I decided it would be great for us to take a Valentine's Day weekend trip to VT. We ended up staying at a house not too far from Stowe mountain and all the locals recommended Black Diamond BBQ. We got so many recommendations we couldn't pass up the opportunity. After arriving at the house and having some drinks we decided to walk over to the restaurant and it was pretty busy. Looked like almost all the tables were full but we ended up getting one. The venue isn't the largest since it takes place in an older home but it has a great vibe to it. I ended up ordering the pulled pork sandwich with some extra vegetables on it and I absolutely loved it. I loved it so much it didn't even last five minutes. My girlfriend got the vegan sandwich and I really enjoyed the bite I took out of it as well. Since both things we ordered off the menu was really good, I don't see why everything else wouldn't be. We are also big craft beer drinkers and their IPA's and other brews were excellent. I have to say, if you're anywhere in the area even if this spot is out of the way, it's worth the trip.

Food and service is always great and the drink variety is awesome. Our go to menu items are the dry rub wings and the turkey.

BBQ isn't bad . Sides suck and it's way over priced. Also you can't get FF without gravy on them.

What a change in paradigms. I've been coming to Stowe since my college days in the '70s, with a…read moremajor break in between due to a military career. So up to know, over the last 45 years, we park on the main Mansfield Lodge, do the schlep up to the back side of the lodge, put our boots and helmets on, then take our skis, practice self-torture and do the climb up what it seems like 10 stories of narrow treads and high risers on the stairway to the Fourrunner Quad and even then it's an additional upslope schlep. So then a friend calls me up and we agree to meet at the Midway Lodge first thing in the morning and my reply was "You mean that lunch place? I gather we'll have to take the Quad to Rimrock and then meet you there"... And he laughed and laughed and told me that I'm so set in my ways that I've been doing the same think for 45 years... That's how I learned about the parking lot three feet from Midway. I can say with certainty than other than a late afternoon apres at the Mansfield Lodge, I see no reason to ever be at the Mansfield Lodge. Midway is a superb building. You can change downstairs, exit to go skiing from downstairs, and leave from downstairs and you don't have to practice orthopedic Russian Roulette by walking up stairs on ski boots. The rest rooms are way better and cleaner, the cafeteria is superb. And best of all, a ski-in and ski-out sit-down restaurant with great service and really good food. The downstairs changing room does have a sign that during the lunch hour, it's reserved for kids in their ski program. Which is fine by me because I like the sitdown service and if I'm in a total hurry, the cafeteria suits me as a second. I have found it easier to ski the Gondola terrain and then head off to the Fourrunner quad terrain than the other way. So starting off at the Midway Lodge was optimum. We skied well into lunch time and then stopped back at the lodge for a sit-down faire featuring really great barbecue lunch, local brews and a sumptuous salad with salmon. All together with amazing views. My new place to start the day at Stowe.

It's beautiful; at the edge of one of the top parking lots, you can drive to it or ski to it. And they have BBQ. Decent BBQ, pulled pork, brisket, sausage. It's a BBQ window next to the bar. All the windows around the bar allow you to watch the skiers and snow boarders fly by and you can watch the gondola overhead. There's also a regular old ski area cafeteria that serves all classic ski goodies - chili and chowder in bread bowls, yogurts, hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, HOT CHOCOLATE, bananas, sodas, water, cookies. Soggy pizza, you name it, it's there. I had a Philly dog, covered in chili, cheese. Unbelievable. The lodge also has a ski store: Stowe branded garments, chap stick, pint glasses, jackets, hand warmers, gloves, sun glasses. All the essentials. The bar - drank the number 9. A lot of them. My brother also had a lot of them. I am pretty sure they had a lot of them too. This is an awesome lodge that you need to visit and hang out for along time. TVs for news, skiers all around, ski in ski out. Drive in drive out.

It gets busy and they don't take reservations. They do have an online waitlist but we went around 4:30 and didn't have to utilize it. Our party of 6 climbed camel's hump earlier in the day and showed up famished. We knew this was the right pig out spot for us to refuel from the moment we walked in, smelled the food and saw the amazing ceiling-high bar. The smoked meats were outstanding. High quality cuts smoked to perfection. We had an order of every meat they offer and they were all just as good. That being said, I could go back just for the cornbread w maple butter. My word, it was like eating cake for dinner. The Mac & cheese was ooey and gooey with a nice crispy top. And the cookie skillet was like a party in your mouth. We didn't think we'd be able to finish everything but there wasn't a crumb to be found when we were done. As far as service goes, it was as good as I've ever had at a place like this. Our server was laid back yet always on top of things. We never waited for anything and her timing was perfect. There's outdoor seating if that's your jam. We sat in the large table by the window and got to look out on main st. It couldn't have been more perfect.

We waited about 15 minutes for a table. Not bad at all!! Our server was energetic and accommodating. She cheerfully answered all our questions and honored our request to get a margherita pizza as an appetizer. The aforementioned pizza arrived in no time. It was good. Not the best ever, but still quite solid. The star of the culinary show was the salmon entree. Both my wife and I got it and we both loved it. It was a big piece of wood fired salmon and came with a nice assortment of roasted veggies. I'm talking real veggies--zucchini, broccoli, fingerling potatoes, the works. Neither one of us are big drinkers, but there are LOTS of microbrews on tap if you're into that kind of thing. The dining room was lively without being too noisy. Both of us enjoyed hanging out there. It would be a great place to have a beer and watch baseball on TV. Will definitely return the next time I'm in town.

The poutine was very good, but I'll grant you that it's maybe hard to get that wrong - but their gravy is on point! Service was great - got there around 5:40pm on a Wednesday, so the wait was non-existent and a table for 5 was easy to accommodate. Duncan was the server, who disclosed that he was new but you wouldn't know it from how he took orders and brought food out. Even threw him a curve by asking for the steak frites with an additional side of brussel sprouts, which he handled no problem - even though there weren't any sides I saw on the menu. Steak was medium rare and perfectly seasoned, and I think I mentioned the chimichurri but it deserves additional mention. Maybe you're wondering about beverages. The maple lemonade is great - it leans harder on the tart side and there are sweeter options around (Cliff House) but I love a lemonade that tastes... lemony. Pineapple cherry punch was also a hit - but that's secondhand hearsay, unlike my direct opinion on the chimichurri - which I would drink if I could. Definitely check this place out. The table near ours seemed to immensely enjoy their meal and also get great service from Duncan.

Let's start with what we enjoyed during our visit: the drinks were good... the atmosphere was cool (more like a contemporary "cabin" vibe, which was definitely inviting)... and the staff were all stellar!! Where Ranch Camp let us down on this visit was the food. In fact, we desperately wanted to love the experience because everything LOOKED fantastic. However, all the food we ordered was bland. It all started with the pork nachos, which our party of 3 ordered as an appetizer. It was piled high and dripping with ingredients... but the dish completely lacked flavor. The pork was perfectly tender but tasted flavorless (until I added hot sauce and salt). I would also recommend they serve the dish with pico de gallo or salsa to boost the flavor. We had the same feeling with the burrito bowls. Two of us ordered different burritos (opting for bowls instead of tortillas), and we both thought the flavor was just okay. And on top of that, both of our bowls were lukewarm. In fact, the entrées weren't even hot enough to melt the cheese. I wish I would have sent the food back, but we were in a bit of a hurry. Finally, my friend James ordered the Chicken Quesadilla, which he also thought was "just okay." Oh, and we noted that a table near us sent back food... so not sure what was up with that, but we we weren't surprised based on our overall experience. Final Thoughts: Prior to visiting Ranch Camp, I read plenty of reviews praising the restaurant, so I'd like to think that they were just having a bad day.

The restaurant is inside of a bike shop which is pretty cool in itself. We started off with some nachos and fried chokes. I had artichokes but omg these were so crunchy and delicious. The nachos were stacked and loaded each chip as nachos should be. Although I wish they out the sour cream and guacamole on the side instead of drizzled on top. Their pork belly tacos were delicious just so messy. The corn with each bite literally was all over my lap and the table. Good just not a graceful meal to eat. I ordered their crunch wrap which was good but the portion was huge. Two people could easily split one. We also ordered the adult chicken tenders and fries. Which idk what they do to the fries here but you MUST HAVE THE FRIES! They are super seasoned and crunchy and just mouth watering goodness. The chicken tenders were super crisp and well flavored too. Next time I'm so ordering the chicken tenders and fries. The T-bowl looked great but the guest in our party who ordered it barely ate it for some reason. 10\10 for food. Service is a bit slow here so be patient. The prices are not bad for the food quality either. My only complaint is the parking lot behind the building is a bit tight with a larger vehicle.
