Alfie's is a genuine and delightful experience for anyone searching for something different than the usual vibe in Stowe. It's been a couple years since I visited town for one night before a bachelor party weekend at a farmhouse elsewhere in Vermont and was very pleased to find that the affordable hotel next door had a divey karaoke bar right behind it. All of the locals were friendly and fun to drink and sing along to their songs. While I did not try the food, I assume it would be just as excellent as the atmosphere, community, and the rather large selection of beer and liquor behind the bar. On paper, the concept of Alfie's is spectacular. An automotive shop masquerading as a watering hole. For a dyed-in-the-wool car enthusiast who happily spends weekends wrestling with a stubborn transmission, this should be absolute nirvana. It has all the makings of the coolest venue in Stowe. Sadly, the execution is a tragic misfire. The primary reason for this failure is the owner, Chris, whose approach to hospitality borders on outright hostility. Our evening began innocently enough. I arrived with a group of ten friends, mostly local Vermonters in our late twenties and early thirties. My fiancée is thirty-three but routinely gets carded for looking younger. It is a perfectly normal procedure. She handed over her legitimate Vermont ID, it was scanned, and we proceeded to order. Then came our twenty-five-year-old friend, visiting from California. Upon inspecting his out-of-state license, Chris abruptly decided the ID was a forgery. Without a shred of preamble, he confiscated the card and unleashed a barrage of expletives, loudly demanding that our entire group leave the premises immediately. At first, we assumed he was joking. When it became clear he was entirely serious, we politely pointed out that our friend had a flight home the next day and strictly required his identification to travel. Chris responded by threatening to call the police. We actively encouraged this, calmly suggesting that law enforcement could easily verify the license and resolve the misunderstanding. Faced with a group of composed patrons actively inviting police verification, the owner seemed to short-circuit. He threw the license at us and continued to shout. As a bizarre parting shot, when one of my friends calmly asked for an explanation, Chris pointed at my fiancée and aggressively voiced his disbelief that she could possibly be thirty-three years old. Alfie's possesses the raw architectural potential to be a brilliant, vibrant space. Yet, if you walk past, you will notice it is often inexplicably dead. After suffering through this particular brand of toxic behavior, the mystery of its chronic emptiness is entirely solved. If you find yourself in Stowe, you would do well to keep your foot down and drive straight past it. read more

What a great little spot! Food was excellent - we had 2 picky kids with us and both were thrilled with the food and the dirty sodas. Trivia night was so much fun. The host was really energetic and there was a great turnout and the structure of the game included a fun crossword puzzle, picture identification round, and the opportunity to wager at the end. The questions were totally reasonable. My friend and I didn't get into it but there are a lot of other fun activities in the venue I think I saw video game machines corn hole and shuffleboard. Food was surprisingly really good. Had the Heidi and the In-n-out taco smash burger and a side of garlic parm fries with ranch. Only gripe is they didn't have a combo special with a smash taco and small portion of fries. Cool bar featured on Winter House for any Bravo Fans. Was in Stowe for vacation and needed a casual place to eat dinner. Went to Alfie's with my husband and toddler daughter and it was exactly what we wanted for that night. There's a bar that serves good beer and also food like tacos and quesadillas, which were a bit pricey, but also delicious. Honestly, I thought it was worth it. The bartender was great at recommending beers but also recommending other places in the area since we were from out of town. Super nice and chill. For the little one, there were arcade games, patio couches to sit on while watching football games on their big big projector TVs. There was also a shuffle board too, and cornhole. This place was so much fun! We went for the first time last night for Trivia night. We are here visiting and met up with friends. From the front, it looked like it was closed, but when we went around back, the place was lively! Nothing fancy, but great vibe. Big open interior with a large bar and a separate place for food orders. Arcade games, cornhole and a stage make up the rest of the place. We decided to start outside as music was loud and we wanted to chat. Food and drinks are get your own. We shared guacamole and chips, and the street corn dip, both were delicious. Everyone had 2 tacos and we all raved! Last night they had an in and out burger taco and it was amazing! It was our first Trivia night and we had a blast! Did a weekend trip in Stowe and was so happy we came to Alfie's, such an amazing experience being able to find a restaurant/bar with indoor activities! Chris and Nate were wonderful and elevated our experience at Alfie's. I'm a huge corn hole and darts person and the fact they offer both along with some arcade games, and a ping pong table made this a fantastic stop! Will definitely want to come up during the summer as-well since they also have garage doors for an indoor/outdoor experience. So happy we chose to stop in here for drinks and a good time! I definitely do NOT recommend Alfie's because they overcharge, I suspect especially if they know you are from out of town. I was there on 8/29/25 and the bartender charged $20 for a Bailey's & vodka. That's a rocks glass filled with ice and their house vodka. Twenty bucks! That's just disgusting. And when I questioned it, she told me that if she had used a full shot (I think of the Bailey's) it would have been $30 and then she walked away. I was part of a wedding party of approx. 40 people and that's how they treated us. I wasn't the only one in our party that was overcharged. I will never go back. read more

You really cant find a restaurant without advance reservation this time of year. This is an interesting concept for a restaurant a restaurant it's actually more of a game room bar that happens to serve food . Its a huge space with many beers available and lots of games for all ages. I dont think I'd visit for the food though. The mexican fare was Ok but we had vegetarian tacos which were soggy and overcooked. Its tough being a pescatarian in this part of the world. The meats were probably better. The staff was really nice, and you could see this place would be really fun for families. They had a trivia night when we visited, really good turnout for that too. read more

Was there for an event (Lamoille Community House fund raiser) and it's a cool place. They serve tacos (they had four different types on the menu) and I think that's what they regularly have. They have a full bar, with a few local (and commercial) beers and ciders on tap. As an event place, it was very good. Large open space, with a stage for bands, small kitchen, long bar, and outdoor seating areas. There's parking in the rear and I was surprised at how many cars fit in that area. The cider I had was great, Downeast Winter Blend. I'm a fan of the Blackberry cider, and the Winter Blend was good. It's a sweet cider though. They have a few video arcade games, cornhole (indoors? what's up with that!) and a long shuffle board game. Anyway, Alfie's was a cool place. I like what they did with it and I hope they succeed. Had our first visit on this, our 20 something years of Stowe runs. We went around lunch time when they opened because we had the kids. The space is a great place to hang out with some old school arcade games, ping pong table, corn hole boards, music, etc. For me, the real fun was in the food. The tacos were amazing. on a saturday night, my boyfriend was in the hotel room extremely sick. because of this, we couldn't go out to eat dinner so i had to think of something as i was starving. i checked everywhere and there are very little places that offer takeout! however, i found this place 3 minutes away and was so excited. i ordered us two quesadillas and chips and salsa. i went to pick it up and the guys helping me were very sweet. the food was delicious and i was so excited i was able to eat real food instead of subway or something. i wasn't inside long, but they had music and lounge seating that looked super cool! would love to come back my next trip to actually hang out read more
