So the good part included tasty drinks, the Steak Whistler Raclette was tasty, as was the Swiss Mac and Cheese. The bad includes overpriced drinks (one of the shots we had was poured with an eye dropper) and service. We visited on the Saturday after Thanksgiving with our two young boys while staying on property. The vibe was warm, inviting, and casual, exactly what we hoped for. What we didn't expect was how incredible the food would be. The Kaiserschmarrn was easily one of the best pancake dishes I've ever had, period. Precut, toasty, and packed with sweet flavor. We also ordered the Steak Whistler, cooked right in front of us over the huge open fireplace in the center of the restaurant. It was perfectly done and came with sides that were just as thoughtful and delicious. Even the Side Fire Pretzel Bites were a hit. Every single dish surprised us in the best way. I'm literally leaving the place and couldn't be more disappointed. The bartender was one of the nastiest people I've ever seen in the service industry in my life. Yes I'm the one who had the service dog and I asked you certain questions and was given very stern and unprofessional responses. If you work in a whiskey industry, you probably should know things about the company you work and you're doing a tasting, you probably should explain the drinks to your serving. We thoroughly enjoyed the side fire pretzel bites, which came with a whole grain mustard, and you can add cheese (which was a no-brainer). Came after a day skiing at Stowe, and was extremely disappointed. Parking onsite is paid which is ridiculous for how much Stowe costs to begin with. The easy access gondola was supposed to be running and was not. We found parking onsite and everything was close by 430pm. Whistlepig was closed at 5pm for a private event. Yet there was not a single soul in site and the building was mostly dark. All of the onsite restaurants were either empty, in the process of closing, or not taking any new tables. The ice rink unfortunately was melted so ice skating was out of the question. There were a few seated areas around the fire pits that weren't surround by children but nothing for that apres ski aesthetic. Stowe as always is a beautiful mountain and community. Beyond disappointed that there was nothing open after 430pm when skiing ends at 4 and everything is supposed to remain open until 6-7pm. read more

Best meal I had at Stowe. We got the platter. Pulled chicken and pork were perfect, corn beans and muffins were good too. The cucumber margarita was also tasty, not too sweet. The raclette cheese they use here is the real winner. They put it on everything. There is a fireplace in the middle that they use for heating up the cheese and food. It keeps the place warm and smelling delicious. Service was good, nothing extraordinary. Drink options are limited. They only have beer and whiskey. We reserved and paid for an outdoor pergola on what ended up being a very frigid day. When we arrived, we were told the overhead heater was broken, with only the gas fireplace working. This place is a famous Whiskey Bar.. when you enter outside there's a beautiful iceskating ring and nice chairs and fire puts outside.. it's absolutely stunning at night all lit up.. the whiskey is actually made in Vermont but they sell is all over the US and they have a restaurant there as well. We shared a tasting (which was pricey because it's very high end). And I had a hot apple cider cocktail. We shared the pretzel appetizer which is the BEST pretzels you will ever have.. the pretzels were perfect by themselves but they added RACLATTE CHEESE melted on top.. so good. I had the WAGYU kelibassi mac and cheese with apple sauce. The wagu kielbasa was so good the mac and cheese was perfectly creaming and then I was uncertain about the applesauce with it but it added an amazing flavor combination.. my husband had the vension chili. I didn't realize this wasn't a typical bourbon tasting experience that one would get from visiting a distillery. I'll get bottles elsewhere. That being said- all the cocktails and flights are Whistlepig and the barbecue contains elements of the whiskey. I loved that I could sit outside with my dog and enjoy my delicious barbecue and lovely Old Fashioned. My husband enjoyed a nice mocktail with na rosé that was super refreshing. We stopped by on a Tuesday night. When we realized how close we were to closing time (15 minutes), we were going to go to a different place, but the staff insisted it was OK. We made quick work of ordering, but probably too much. The 2 of us could have done with a Raclette and a salad, but our server suggested the pretzel bites as well - which were very good - but altogether too much food. Terrible service. Just as bad as you get for the price. Showed up at 6:05 for a 6pm reservation and didn't get our pergola until 6:20 because they couldn't find our server. After being very patient to get seated, our food didn't show up for over 40 minutes and then we were told last call was 7pm. None of which was communicated when we booked a 6pm reservation. Bobby the manager was completely unprofessional and blamed our slow service it on a "large party". Great location but ridiculously bad service. Keep your expectations low and avoid the 6pm booking at all costs....buyer beware!! read more

Very pretty location within lodge. You can take a gondola from ski slope to the lodge or you can drive and park. Parking is free for an hour then 15 after that. We ordered a flight of the whiskey for 32. It was nice tasting the different ages. We also ordered the nachos which were different using homemade chips, specialty cheese heated in the fireplace. It's only March but will likely be the worst service I will have this year. Our lunch started with them informing us that our 1:30 reservation was moved to 1:45 when we arrived on time (completely understandable it was a weekend they were somewhat busy), but then proceeded to say that our reservation was for 1 hour 30 mins but it was based on the time originally reserved not the seating time (which the restaurant dictated was moved back). Again all this seemed a poor way to start off the meal before we ordered but whatever. Our table of 5 ordered apps, and meals, started w the nachos which as previously mentioned was not actually nachos. Not tortilla chips, regular potato chips with cheese, cut up tomatoes and apples? For entrees we got the Mac and cheese, chili and 3 orders of steak. Mac and cheese which was served in apple sauce and tasted like a terrible drunk concoction, the chili which was not bad. Both 9came out in 15 minutes. 3 of us ordered the steak entree. It was over 45 minutes after we ordered we still were waiting and I jokingly said to the waitress hope they don't still kick us out at 3 since we didn't even get our food yet, she reassured us by saying "food is food but I can help with the drinks", we ordered drinks which she then forgot to get for us. 2:55 the remaining 3 entrees and drinks come out. In 5 minutes our waitress come back over and hands us the check. Says they need to change tables. I explain she just brought us the food and we just started eating. Waitress responses was "I know our usual host had an emergency and had to go back to Peru and now we have a new host that doesn't know what to do. I can't control the time we change over tables". At this point I more directly address my frustration that we are in the middle of eating and drinking that was just served. She brings over food boxes and then while I'm about to drink my glass, takes it and pours my drink into a to go cup. I honestly felt like I was in the twilit zone to get told to take my food and drink in a to go after we waited an hour for it because they needed to change the table. Our waitress was so rude, unprofessional and took no responsibility to address any of the issues when we made it clear that the way they operated was not acceptable. I asked if the manager was there she said no like I said we are understaffed. On the way out I asked the person at the door if they were the host to address the issue the older gentleman said I am the host and the general manager. I informed him of the entire ordeal. He response was "wow I'm at a loss for words I have no response". "I don't know what I can do for you, you already paid." Icing on the cake is that this is the only restaurant that separates itself from the mountain so it's not included on the 20% off as part of epic pass holders. Eh. . . honestly a little disappointed. I really enjoy ordering a nice glass of bourbon/ whiskey when going out and checking off-brands I haven't had yet, but Whistlepig Pavillion was just ok. Cool ambiance but overall, the drinks were nothing special, and WAY overpriced. I get that Stowe probably gets people that are okay paying that price for a drink, but $22 for a cocktail?? (Last Ryed cocktail is what I ordered). I thought was a bit crazy. I would have ordered the Barrel-Aged Old Fashioned, but I couldn't justify paying $27 on one drink. Let alone, the drinks weren't filled to their entirety and they were served in a plastic cup so there was nothing special about it. I'm glad we stopped there for at least one drink, but the prices for cocktails are a bit outrageous. read more

It's a very cool place to feel like you're in some Swiss Alps apres-ski wonderland--there's raclette toasting over an open hearth and warm wooden lodge stylings--the parking is easy (free for the first hour then $5 per 25 mins after that). The lot is the first right after passing the pavilion and skier drop off. Smallish lot but there were plenty of spaces at 5:30 on a Friday of a holiday weekend. The winter menu is very limited but the raclette is really the only reason to be there from a culinary perspective and it's delicious. Spendy though-- we got one veggie order and one with venison sausage-- $37 total and the portions are not huge. 3 of us polished it off easily. It's old fashioned real raclette though which is not a common thing to run across. I did feel sorry for families who brought younger kids-- must cost a gazillion dollars to try to feed kids and have an actual meal there. Main gripe is with the service. It's beyond slow. Like glacial. Think: being ignored for at least 25 minutes. Order right away when you're seated unless you want to be there forever with nothing to drink and no raclette in sight. This is an official Whistlepig bourbon establishment-- prices are jacked up for straight pours beyond belief. $32 for a 1.5 Oz tasting for my partner. I had an Old Fashioned which was delicious at $20, a little less offensive, but if tasting whiskey is what you're after, better off buying a bottle at the packie. Still, atmosphere is wonderful and the ice rink is right outside for a nice walk around post-apres (apres-apres?). A good experience overall but expect to pay and not be treated like they necessarily value your company. read more

The service in this restaurant is very good and quick. The place is clean with a relaxing atmosphere. Drinks are tasty and unique to the restaurant, which I appreciate. The menu they have online (bbq) is their summer menu and hasn't been updated. They offer tastings of their whiskey and you can't even buy a bottle there, you have to go to the stowe liquor store. Doesn't make any sense to have a tasting room where you can't purchase the liquor. Also obscenely overpriced. The cheapest tasting is $32 for 1.5 oz of whiskey total, better off just going and buying a bottle for $80. If you're in the lodge area, might be fine for a couple drinks but definitely not worth the drive if you're just going to sample whistlepig. read more
