Love visiting Stowe and I've skied on the mountain before but I've never dined there! The entire Spruce Peak area is beautiful and the Alpine Hall was a perfect meal to have on our last day in Stowe! We took peoples advice and got to the Brussels sprouts. They were omg amazing. Crispy and had fondue on top. Wow! The bread was so soft and flavorful. My husband ordered the barley risotto full of mushrooms and I had a Caesar salad and their pumpkin apple cider soup. Everything was so delicious and our service was friendly and inviting. read more

We ate at Alpine Hall at Stowe multiple times during our stay--breakfast, lunch, and dinner--and had an overall great experience. The highlight for us was the exceptional service from Stacy-Ann and Carolyn, who were both incredibly sweet and attentive with our young children. They made us feel truly welcome and helped create a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere each time. The cocktails were excellent, and the buffet brunch was a quite good--fresh even though we were there near the end, well-prepared, and great value for our family since kids under a certain age eat brunch free. While some dishes across our visits were just okay, others were quite good, and the variety kept things interesting. As expected for a resort, prices are on the higher end, but the ambiance, convenience, and especially the staff make it worth it. Some of the people at the hostess stand were good, several were really quite bad. We'd definitely return on a future visit to Stowe! read more

I thought the place was pretty good! The prices are similar to Stowe cafes but everything was better. You don't need to constantly look for an empty table and the dining environment is so much better than the lodges. Food was not bad. I love the wings. I am not one to ever write a review or complain about a meal. My daughter and I ordered a salad and added salmon to the salad. I have never received a piece of salmon this small. My fork was bigger than the salmon portion they provided with a $16 price tag for the added salmon. Just want to warn people, as they should have to put on their menu how small the protein add on actually is. This may have been 2-3 ounces. This was just plain ridiculous. read more

First I want to say Chi, our server was fantastic. There was never a moment where they didn't ask how we were, if we needed anything and if we were satisfied. This place was also nearly empty because we went at an awkward time, so I am unsure how normally the service is, but ours was great. So we came in at 3:30pm, right after lunch and before dinner. So our menu options were very limited. We could only pick from the starters/shares, soups and salads, and the burger. After seeing our options we opted for the Brussels sprouts (which we remembered liking when we last visited about 3 years ago), the bread service, the French onion soup and the spruce burger. The bread came first, and it was drastically disappointing as it was far too seasoned, making it very....over powering while also being dry. Then the brussels sprouts came and although they had good flavor, they were a little undercooked. Plus the toppings they put on (the fondue, the apple and the maple) should have been incorporated a bit more throughout the dish. Then the onion soup and burger came. Both were....fine but disappointing again. The soup was lacking so much depth, it felt like it needed another hour or two to cook. Once I added salt, it was better but just slicked on the tongue like oil. Not much flavor. The burger was rather thick, with again not much flavor. With a lot of ketchup it was better, but again as it was, wasn't great. When we got the bill, I decided this three star experience went down to two. For the price at $60+ for a meal that was just disappointing left and right, we did not return again during our stay at the Lodge. I was a little skeptical about this place due to some of the reviews - and big lodge restaurants aren't usually my favorite, but I was pleasantly surprised! We had great service from the start. The spicy colada mocktail was so good. We ordered the Brussels sprouts (OMG--do not miss out on these!), I had the cod, and my mom got a salad. We also shared their very generous slice of chocolate cake. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. If you're looking for flavorful food that isn't drenched in heavy sauces or loaded with MSG, this is the place for you. From the staff to the ambiance to the quality of the food - highly recommend. Sometimes I read restaurant reviews and skip over the ones that complain about service because I think how bad can it be? It won't affect my meal. Well, the poor service here was so bad it did affect my meal and wanted to make sure others, including the restaurant are aware of it. Our main problem was that they served the appetizer, salads and main courses within 5 minutes of each other. We hadn't finished our appetizers when the salad arrived. Hadn't even started on the salad when the main course arrived (still working on the appetizers). There was no room on our table of 2 for so many dishes, so they slid over a 4 person table and we ended up being 2 people at a 6 person table. Needless to say, our main courses were cold by the time we finished the appetizers and cold mashed potatoes and steak were just bad. And this wasn't because the restaurant was full; there was only one other table occupied, so you can't blame the kitchen on being overwhelmed or distracted. The poor service wasn't just the server. The hostess at the front of the restaurant was on her phone drinking a tea when we arrived. She was dressed in jeans and a sweatshirt so we weren't even sure she was the hostess. But she was and she looked very disinterested in seating us. Absolutely no pleasantries or smile. And at the end of the evening we told the server we would be charging by the meal to the room. She brought us a bill but no pen to sign. And then she disappeared and we had to wait another 5 minutes to ask for a pen. Overall, just a frustrating evening. read more

Nice ambiance, nice restaurant on the premises of The Lodge. Closes at 10:00pm and we got here at 9:30pm driving up from NH. The lamb chops were delish. The polenta sticks were so good. The lamb was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. I thouroughly enjoyed my meal. My husband ordered the chicken and it was just okay not great but it was thoughtfully prepared. The kids steak was a very good balanced meal. Love how it came with veggies and fruits and fries. Staff is friendly, food and drinks were 10/10 although pricey. We came here multiple times during our stay in Stowe.

We spent the week up at Spruce Peak and visited Alpine Hall several times, twice for drinks and once for dinner. I know that the reviews frequently mention poor service, but we had excellent service each visit. The drinks are very nice and diverse. For dinner, we started with focaccia and calamari, both very well done. For dinner, one got the Trout Amandine, the other the Steak Frites. The fish was a generous portion and very well liked. The steak was done exactly as specified (rare+) and the tallow fries were superb. The desert board was a little bigger than we wanted, so we skipped it and grabbed a drink elsewhere. It was an excellent meal, never mind the fact that it is right in the hotel so you don't even have to go outside. We also had the good fortune of being seated in the 'glass box' part of the dining room - almost like private dining. The rest of the hall is tall and the surfaces are hard, so acoustically it's quite loud, especially with children (a frequent occurrence). I do feel the reviews I read did not match the experience we had, and I would definitely return! read more

As time has gone by, our desire for a leisurely lunch during a ski day has become prevalent. Although we are still attached to a vigorous time on the slopes, our break has become a respite away from the now exasperating lines and lift line overcrowding. The last thing we want to experience during lunch is yet another elbow-to-elbow crunch with bumptious people and screaming kids. So instead of cafeterias, we now look for resort sit-down, full service restaurants, away from a cafeteria madness... Such was the case in our recent visit to Stowe, VT, the queen of New England skiing. After a superb day on the Gondola and Four-Runner's front face trails, were ready for a leisurely break. And just off the village gondola, Alpine Hall was just a turn away. Although with no reservations, we were seated right away in a table overlooking the village, great for people watching and enjoying the bluebird day. Alpine Hall is an expansive and sumptuous venue, with three-story high ceilings and monumental windows to the outside. It's ultra modern decore matches the glass bar and furnishings, It is both spectacular and relaxing. Our waitress was a wonderful Jamaican lady - they make the difference between good and excellent service and food at many resorts such as Stowe and Killington. She was adorable and knew the menu inside out. She was part of the experience. We started our lunch with a glass of Domain Pouilly-Fuissé '20, one amazing glass of wine. Our other companions also ordered Alchemist's sumptuous Heady Topper and a Lawson's selection. And for starters, we ordered a couple of plates to share. First, the Fried Clams. These were light and tender, delectable to the taste buds as well as the senses, accompanied with a magnificent lemon, basil, and a banana pepper aioli. The second plate was the Alpine Hall Brussels Sprouts, and these exceded all expectations... Our lunch main courses consisted of a Duck Confit Grilled Cheese, a succulent sourdough confection with cheddar, alpine cheese, blueberry jam, mustard and duck confit. We also ordered an Alpine Turkey Burger, deliciously cooked Vermont turkey with alpine cheese, a good portion of roasted mushrooms, red onion marmalade, garlic confit aioli on a brioche bun. And I had the Cobb Salad with salmon on top, together with blue cheese, hemp seed and buttermilk dressing. The dessert menu is also amazing but we had no room for it if we were going to have an afternoon of snow sports, so we gave up on the dessert. We love the Alpine Hall at Stowe for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The pumpkin soup is the absolute best. The lunch special of a half soup and sandwich is so yummy when you need a break from skiing. It's located right near the East Over gondola. I've been here at least 5 times and the service has always been friendly and professional. Sometimes they are super busy but the food always comes out yummy and hot! The restaurant is huge with a beautiful bar and lots of natural light. We are have a great time here! read more

We were staying at the hotel and came in for dinner and a brunch the next day. My favorite was the brunch so I will give that 5/5 stars. Yes, it's a little pricey at $34pp but what do you expect at a fancy establishment. I felt the price was reasonable. This includes meats, fruit, oatmeal, pancakes, French toast, eggs, cereal, lox station and much more. Also included is the coffee with juice. Service is amazing as they hire great staff! We had drinks earlier in the day and sat at the bar. Bartenders are great. Wine prices are too steep for me. They have some crafted cocktails that are more reasonable to choose. The large granite bar is very pretty and their libation selection is impressive. Dinner was subpar and I really wouldn't recommend. Stars for dinner 3/3. I will say the mussels were amazing and worth trying. We sent back the calamari for being over done. We shared the mushroom pasta that was so bland and not sure why mushroom is in the title because I think I found 3 of them. My Tito's dirty martini was $20 and that is outrageous in my opinion. The good? Service was good. Our waitress was attentive and took good care of us. Helped with the menu, etc. Granted we were one of maybe 4 tables at a weird time in the afternoon. Drinks were good, no complaint there. The bad? I had the Fried Chicken Sandwich with the ancho-honey glaze. Hands down the single worst chicken sandwich i've ever had in my life. I have had bad/mediocre food and could look the other way but this was a new low for me. The "chicken" barely had any chicken. It appeared to just be a pile of crumbs that were scraped up from the bottom of the fryer and formed to look like a crappy chicken tender. It was so chewy and hard to eat. This morning we had breakfast and I have to say it was very delicious, excellent homemade biscuit sandwich, egg and pork belly. Give me a break. The entire bottle retails for 33.00 and you are buying for less than that. You aren't a Four Seasons in Maui and you aren't a Michelin restaurant in Manhattan stop price gauging. The service is good, food is so-so for quality but for quantity is a small serving noting its price and use of plate for serving. They do have a high chair and the ambiance is calming due to the high ceiling design. They raccept credit/debit. Alot of parking space. Really very good especially for a ski resort bar & restaurant. We weren't expecting much but we're kind of blown away by the Brussels sprouts, richly roasted with a great maple glaze and some kind of creamy cheese sauce, and julienned apples on them. Delicious. The burger was really perfectly done with great fries, and my friend had the duck confit grilled cheese, which was over the top rich but also delicious, with the soup, which was an Apple sauce and coconut milk curry soup, really unique. We sat at the bar and the bartender was helpful and gracious and made excellent drinks, we wanted to try everything we saw her make. And we had ski gear on but they let us in for lunch no problem. Prices were basically the same as a cafeteria but this was way way better than your average plastic tray burger. Worth the hike. read more

We were greeted by annoyed hostess and was heavily judged for being in our snow gear. This place tries to hold themselves to a 5 star food standard but the food was worse than what they served at the food hall. The burger was overpriced and mediocre. The service was below average. The bill got completely messed up. Our server put the blame on us for it. If you're thinking about ordering a drink, make sure to be specific with what alcohol you want in your drink or else they will give you the most expensive alcohol and charge you 3 times the price for the drink. If you want to spend a ton of money for bad food and even worse service- look no further. To put it simple- this place charges 5-Star prices for McDonalds level service. The hostess seemed aloof when we walked in and seemed to not compute the fact we were there at 450 for a 5 pm reservation-- no smile or hello either. As the hostess seated us, she sat us right next to the entrance of the restaurant. Had it been packed for the night, this would not have been a problem. However, there was NO ONE else in the place. We requested to sit next to a window, and she said 'no, I'm putting the high chair here." We said we would really prefer a window so we could put our stroller in the corner, and she said, "okay...that's fine". She did allow us to sit at the window eventually, but she seemed very put off by the request. I say again, there was no one else in the restaurant, and it was quite early and a Sunday afternoon. Then came the waitress who clearly hated her job. She told us not only was the kitchen out of several different things on the menu - but they were "all messed up tonight"- she said this three separate times...not something you want to hear when you're about to drop 200 plus dollars on dinner. We were thinking of the charcuterie board for an appetizer. Generally, these are pretty filling, especially for just two people. However, we inquired about it, and our waitress told us, "it's very small, there's not a lot of meat, and it's really not worth it; I would suggest the cheese board if you want something more filling." We took her advice and ordered the cheese board. Unfortunately, it was a joke--25 dollars for 4 crackers, a few nuts (the menu stated there were multiple different kinds, but it was just a few chopped up pecans) , small cubes of cheddar and some crappy looking blue cheese. I can't imagine what the charcuterie board would have been like.- we left after that as we knew the night was not looking good with all these warning signs. We stayed at the lodge and went for dinner on our first night. There were several available tables but the hostess seated us at a small table in between and really close to other diners. I asked if there were other options and the hostess said they were reserved. No one else came for dinner that night and they started setting up for breakfast while we were there. Clearly not reserved. Same hostess for breakfast and I asked for a table not so close and she sat us by the window with major attitude. I overheard her comment to our waitress as if we were being difficult. I thanked her for the window table on our way out and again was met with not even a smile or thanks for coming. Cocktails were mediocre and over priced. Steak frites were chewy and I asked for a burger instead. Manager came over and said I was the second person to send the steak back that night and gave us dessert on the house. Burger was decent but nothing special. Breakfast was delicious but expensive. The idea was that we wanted all appetizers and entrees at once. Oddly, our appetizers were served already, but delivery of entrees was over an hour in the making and only came after we inquired for the third time. Alpine Hall should not seat more people than they can handle responsibly. I would hate to see them in the busy winter season when the slopes are open for skiing. Very disappointing experience. Gone are the days of an expansive breakfast buffet with incredible fruit, pastries, potatoes, and juices. Gone is the omelet bar. Gone is the ability of the room to handle bus loads of peepers efficiently. One party of ten people seemed to flummox the staff creating a 30 minute wait to be seated. Yikes! The waitress was personable, but seemingly stretched. She apologized that the party of ten had gotten their orders in before we did, so our food would be delayed. The pancakes were pretty good, but the omelet was a pale ghost of what was offered previously. I guess they are still probably short on staff. read more

Simple menu, competent kitchen and staff. But the front staff or their concierges are just so incompetent and unwelcoming that can only be blamed on the management. This is supposed to be the high end restaurant in the best hotel or Mountain Lodge in Stowe, the top Ski destination in the East. But the most unforgivable thing is that the Restaurant uses and presents their guest with the dirtiest menus that I have ever seen. It's a color printed menu that can easily be reproduced everyday in black and white or in color on a Copier. But the management allow them to reuse them and they appears to have been used by at least a thousand patrons or guests. This is very poor management and it shows very little respect for your guests. It shows the top management does not care about being Clean in today's environment and be in the food business and be part of supposedly the Top Hotel Lodge in Stowe Vt. It all starts from the top and I'm so disappointed as my family have eaten here since the Lodge first opened as the best in the East. read more
