Blackened salmon with coconut lime rice and broccolini
Amanda C.

The Whip started a bit rocky when we walked in for our reservation and they let us know they were running 20 mins behind ressys, but they quickly bounced back once we were seated. Our server was a sweet angel and accommodative to my sister's gluten allergy. I'm going to skip to the hot and juicy details though -- I got the blackened salmon special which came with a coconut lime rice (unreal) and broccolini. Everything was seasoned UNBELIEVABLY, absolutely delicious. It appears all meals come with a maple oat loaf of bread, which was honestly insane - you could taste the maple and thick oats coating the bread. Vibe was great and as I noted - food was banging. Would come back for sure.

We found this place on Yelp while staying in Stowe on vacation. What a great find. Cute little location in downtown and the food was absolutely amazing! I had the gorgonzola filet and it was cooked beautifully. Our server was also very friendly attentive and helpful. Among the many restaurants in the area I'm glad we tried this one and I highly recommend you do also. Great experience!

We shared a 16 inch ribeye which was delicious. Well cooked. Potatoes and asparagus. Cocktails were very good. The service was excellent. The ambience was lovely.

Overall, we were not impressed by the food options in this area but Whip was a delightful exception. The Millennial Chum and I came by for an early dinner this past Saturday, getting in some much needed nourishment ahead of a big hike. The Stowe gastro situation in hindsight is pretty odd; there are definitely a lot of restaurants, but most of them have very limited/niche menus that we just weren't in the mood for. Whip had a lot going for it right from the get-go - edgy historical vibes and a wider array of entree options, spanning multiple genres. We almost missed it; I saw a subtle sign in a parking lot for it and recommended we at least walk in to check the menu. It turns out they have a much more obvious entrance further down Main Street, but no matter. Since we went in the back way, we took a bit of a circuitous route to the entry, where we were warmly greeted by an older gentleman who took us into a back dining area past the bar. Loved the atmosphere; tons of ye olde wood all over the place, with a pretty heavy emphasis on the equestrian world - I'm pretty sure our booth had a saddle hung up on the wall next to it. The Millennial Chum also gamely took part in a photo session by the antique phone booth setup (TikTok jokes ensued). There were a few items on the official menu that grabbed my attention but I emotionally imprinted on the specials pretty quickly. I opted for an herb-crusted halibut entree that I'm pretty sure had a citrus tinge to it. Absolutely delicious and hit the spot. The portion of halibut was generous and came with scrumptious mashed potatoes. The Millennial Chum got a Vermont cheddar chicken dish, I believe, and was also quite smitten. Unlike me, she actually knows how to exhibit portion control so part of the chicken came back to our lodgings, where it created a scrumptious smell in our fridge for a day or two. The service was excellent as well. Our waiter had a touch of the quirk (by no means a negative - I always recognize members of my tribe) and was very "human," if that makes sense. Conversant, friendly and genuine. He was honest with respect to his assessment of the menu and its stronger items, and stopped by very regularly to check in on us. We were both drinking a lot of water and he was able to maintain the level in the glasses pretty well despite the constant guzzling. This might literally be the only unequivocal restaurant recommend I have in the area - this is a ski town in the offseason so your options aren't the best right now. But you could do a lot worse than Whip.

Spinach Artichoke Dip

If you're visiting Stowe you need to visit Whip Bar & Grill! I had the Prince Edward Island mussels and, I kid you not, it was one of the most amazing things I have ever tasted! The mussels were so tender and the white wine butter sauce was excellent! And you get plenty of mussels! My wife and I also shared the artichoke dip which was meh. For entrees I had the pan roasted cod with parmesan risotto and asparagus which was so good! My wife had the pan seared pork rib eye which was so tender! It's maple brined and has a smoky pineapple barbecue sauce. So good! The ambience is a mix of historic with modern tavern. The service was fine.

Quality of food. My steak and veggies tasted like someone put leftovers in a microwave and served it as "freshly made."

I love when the local bike shop is *truly* a LOCAL bike shop, and not some generic conglomerate that has hired locals. We got so many excellent recommendations on where to ride, what to look out for, and any setup changes we should make based on our individual setups. For those who didn't bring bikes, renting bikes was quick and painless. They took the time to get us dialed in before we were off to ride. The merch was top-notch. My only (very minor) disappointment was that the green hat that I bought to match the jersey I also bought was a children's hat. I missed that at time of purchase and didn't realize it until we were back at our rental for the night. It's okay, I brought it back the next day and they were cool about it and let me swap my kids hat for a different adult-size hat, even though they didn't have any green adult hats. I wish we had a few extra days in the area, I would have loved to join some of the local group rides that seem to meet here to ride regularly. We did eat lunch here one of the days. It was so nice to eat outside. There was a good flow of people in and out, but it didn't feel overwhelmingly busy. We had a group of 8, and yet everything arrived just as quickly as we ordered it. I had a crunch wrap. It felt like a lot of food, but it hit the spot. If I find myself back in the area, I will definitely visit again. Highly recommend.

Ranch Camp is a cool little restaurant and bicycle repair shop combo -- for real! I just wish the…read morefood was as good as the overall vibe and the amazing service we received. Let's start with what we enjoyed during our visit: the drinks were good... the atmosphere was cool (more like a contemporary "cabin" vibe, which was definitely inviting)... and the staff were all stellar!! Where Ranch Camp let us down on this visit was the food. In fact, we desperately wanted to love the experience because everything LOOKED fantastic. However, all the food we ordered was bland. It all started with the pork nachos, which our party of 3 ordered as an appetizer. It was piled high and dripping with ingredients... but the dish completely lacked flavor. The pork was perfectly tender but tasted flavorless (until I added hot sauce and salt). I would also recommend they serve the dish with pico de gallo or salsa to boost the flavor. We had the same feeling with the burrito bowls. Two of us ordered different burritos (opting for bowls instead of tortillas), and we both thought the flavor was just okay. And on top of that, both of our bowls were lukewarm. In fact, the entrées weren't even hot enough to melt the cheese. I wish I would have sent the food back, but we were in a bit of a hurry. Finally, my friend James ordered the Chicken Quesadilla, which he also thought was "just okay." Oh, and we noted that a table near us sent back food... so not sure what was up with that, but we we weren't surprised based on our overall experience. Final Thoughts: Prior to visiting Ranch Camp, I read plenty of reviews praising the restaurant, so I'd like to think that they were just having a bad day.
