Oh my - what an experience. We loved everything about this place. The vegetarian selections were creative, filling and so delicious. I love eating food that I probably wouldn't make at home, and they nailed it - from appetizers to desserts. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is very moody and romantic, perfect for our anniversary celebration.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waitstaff were efficient and unobtrusive, happy to guide us through the menu. I would definitely return.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Doubt we will return. What? What did you say? I said we won't go back because we couldn't hear each other over the noise and a couple of very loud patrons.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Despite the mixed reviews, we decided to try Plate. Given the need for reservations and prices, we were expecting elevated dining. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is small with maybe a dozen tables and about equal amount of bar space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Everyone was dressed very casually favoring plaid shirts and blue jeans.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The menu is limited. The fried oysters tasted like a hush puppies and none of us could see or taste an oyster. The sushi tuna salad - who cut this tuna? I'm quite sure a 5 year old with a dull knife could do a better job (see photo). The pasta tasted homemade and was served topped with large shaved pieces of parmesan - artsy but I would have preferred parmesan be freshly grated at the table. I enjoyed the pasta but my friend did not like it at all. The strip steak was tasty and cooked perfectly - as far as steaks go, it was good but definitely not one of those truly great steaks. The arepas just sat there on the plate looking completely out of place - it seemed like they were added to be able to claim it was fusion. We were really looking forward to the pan fried potatoes but they were mushy - nothing crispy about them. With only 4 stalks, grilled broccolini was a battle to grab and I lost but I was told they were amazing. We were very pleased that we were able to get ample water and drinks. Overall the service was good and attentive but not very friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]But none of that matters if it's so noisy that you can't hear each other![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! We went for dinner, one of the last nice weather weekends for the year, and they let us sit outside (with our dog). Only two tables outside, on both sides of the entrance, give you plenty of space and privacy. For dinner we ordered the fried zucchini, fettuccine (shiitake mushrooms, prosciutto, asparagus, white wine, and cream fraiche), grilled brined pork chop (with parsnip puree, grilled peaches, and herb butter). The zucchini dish was fantastic- the zucchini was shredded before it was fried, and it was still juicy when you bit into it. The batter was light, crunchy, and lightly salted with sea salt, and the aioli sauce paired well with it. The fettuccine was fresh, but was not the stand out dish; the pork chop is understandably their signature dish. The pork had a great sear on it, was a thick chop, and was very tender and juicy. The parsnip puree was rich and silky, and paired well the pork and peaches. The cocktails were all unique flavor combinations, and all very fresh. We tried 4 total and loved all 4. Service was great; our waiter was both helpful and friendly and made our night.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience, perfection.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food, delicious. Plate was the perfect choice for a treat yourself meal after a long day of skiing.

I feel middle of the road about Plate. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is definitely a bar atmosphere, quite loud and unrefined.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is good, closer to gastropub than fine dining. Our server was all business, which I didn't mind for a busy place. Bottom line if you're looking for pricey food in a good spot with a casual vibe this is a decent choice. If you're looking for something that matches the price with a calmer ambience, I suggest you look elsewhere.

    Inside of veggie burger-unbelievably good!

Service was slow. Food was expensive and nothing to brag about. I had the fettuccine and it was not good at all. Drinks were good.

The food was amazing but the restaurant was extremely loud and the service was so so. I had the pork chop that was the best I've ever had.

The poutine was very good, but I'll grant you that it's maybe hard to get that wrong - but their gravy is on point! Service was great - got there around 5:40pm on a Wednesday, so the wait was non-existent and a table for 5 was easy to accommodate. Duncan was the server, who disclosed that he was new but you wouldn't know it from how he took orders and brought food out. Even threw him a curve by asking for the steak frites with an additional side of brussel sprouts, which he handled no problem - even though there weren't any sides I saw on the menu. Steak was medium rare and perfectly seasoned, and I think I mentioned the chimichurri but it deserves additional mention. Maybe you're wondering about beverages. The maple lemonade is great - it leans harder on the tart side and there are sweeter options around (Cliff House) but I love a lemonade that tastes... lemony. Pineapple cherry punch was also a hit - but that's secondhand hearsay, unlike my direct opinion on the chimichurri - which I would drink if I could. Definitely check this place out. The table near ours seemed to immensely enjoy their meal and also get great service from Duncan.

They use the Yelp waitlist, but I couldn't join it until we showed up to the restaurant, which was a little confusing. We ended up sitting at the counter by the wood fire, which was neat to watch. Our server (Jenn) was awesome. My drink was very pricy ($18), but it was pretty tasty. Everything was absolutely delicious - we got a Mac & cheese and 2 burgers with fries. I love that it's all farm-to-table. Would absolutely eat here again and *highly* recommend it.

Every bit of food was prepared just right. We did eat a pineapple salad that was so fresh and crisp and not overly dressed, which was on the Specials menu. I also ate the Halibut for my main course, which was also on the Specials menu. This was nicely done as well. My wife ate the pork tenderloin, from the regular menu, and it was delicious. The coup de grâce was the dessert. The ice cream of the day, which was an maple gingersnap flavor was outstanding, and carrot cake was hands down the best I have had in my life! The service was good, fast and efficient. If you are looking for a very good, but not inexpensive meal, we would absolutely recommend Harrison's.

Con - none of the 4 of us even liked our meals - they were inedible. We descended the narrow steep staircase into the dark dining room; outdoor seating was not open. The waitress promptly brought us menus and waters. There was a good variety of wines and we settled on the Sancerre. Charging for bread is not a good trend so $10 for 4 Parker House Rolls was disappointing. We also ordered the mussels and asiago fries. The chef seems to favor creamy white wine sauces - the added cream adds a heavy taste without adding flavor. The shrimp & sausage on mushroom ravioli had the cream sauce and cubes of sausage. The pasta primavera also had the cream sauce. It was super bland. We added chicken (see the photo of the chicken breast added to the top side of the dish not cooked in the dish). The salmon and its corresponding carrots were spiced with bebere which is very mild but not particularly enjoyable. And finally, the grilled rib-eye was bad, really bad. It was gelatinous and the worst steak we've ever had. I've only ever seen a steak cooked like this when it's cooked at too low a heat. We fed the leftover steak, chicken, and salmon to the dog.
