Best food of the whole trip. We ate there 3 times (it was that good!). The breakfast was the best breakfast of the trip. I love breakfast and this was excellent. The dinner/supper was terrific Pot Roast - excellent Banana pancake - amazing Breakfast potatoes - excellent French toast - wonderful Every by I g else was tsrrific. Came here for dinner and would recommend coming for breakfast instead as dinner was subpar. Service was friendly and they weren't busy on a Monday night. Didn't have a reservation and there were plenty of open tables. Not a huge menu, but got a Caesar salad, little neck clams, and a side of tallow fried Brussels sprouts. They all came out at once, which was a little odd because I would've preferred the salad first. The Caesar salad was extremely large, you could easily share it between two if not three people. The croutons were good. The romaine was very white/stems though, I prefer more of the leafy green part but this was pretty much all crunch white stems. The clams were alright but I would've preferred the Cajun garlic white wine sauce, not the creamy tomato sauce they make it with now. The clams were all opened but most of them were not warm besides the bottom ones in the sauce. The Brussels sprouts was a tiny portion and very dried out. Certainly not worth the $9 for a side. They had no flavor either, it's like they had been cooked earlier in the day and just sat under the heater or re heated. Service was fine. This would've been around a 3 star experience, as I left with a pretty mediocre impression, however less than a few hours later I started feeling very sick and got diarrhea and started vomiting. I rarely vomit, I don't have a sensitive stomach. The clams must've been bad and I shouldn't have eaten lukewarm clams. This made for a horrible evening. I was excited to try this place due to the good reviews but it went from disappointing to downright disastrous. read more

Returned to the Stowe area and made it a point to make it back to butler's pantry. Wasn't quite the pandemonium that it was on Columbus Day but it also wasn't slow either. Used Yelp check in to the waitlist but it was essentially useless as we had to check in and wait when we got there anyway. Hostess seemed confused when I mentioned the waitlist. There was a bunch of outdoor seating in use this time since it wasn't as cold, which seemed to help move the list along. Food was really good, just like our first visit. We had a mix of eggs and French toast and it didn't matter what you ordered as everything was cooked to absolute perfection. The maple sausage is still one of the highlights. It's a little on the pricier side, but the quality justifies the cost. read more

Butler's pantry was once my favorite breakfast place in Vermont. The food is still pretty good but for whatever reason it is not at the same level it was years ago. But more importantly - in the non winter months, it is infested by bees and flies (even indoors due to doors open) to the point that it makes the experience uncomfortable and even stressful. Something needs fo be done to address that. read more

We got here around 9am on a Sunday and only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table inside. Service was friendly and efficient. I got the jalapeno cheddar pancakes which were great. I enjoy the spicy / savory flavor with the syrup. My husband liked his chocolate chip pancake as well. read more

THREE WORDS: JALAPEÑO CHEDDAR PANCAKES. This was the last breakfast we had in Stowe and my family has been coming to Stowe for years and we never knew about this place! It's situated right in the heart of Main St across from the iconic steepled church and offers a wonderful breakfast. We opted to join their waitlist but they were able to seat us as soon as we arrived. Their menu has a lot of breakfast options but the jalapeño cheddar pancakes were out of this world. We visited Stowe VT this summer and enjoyed breakfast at the Butler's Pantry. Food is excellent and service is great. I enjoyed the biscuit and gravy. Jared T provided attentive service and the house is interesting old. My wife enjoyed an omelette with several ingredients that add up nicely on the bill (watch out)! The food and service were great. The sausage gravy was extremely delicious and sweet which was different for this southern girl! I will have to say it was probably one of the most expensive breakfast places I've ever eaten. I mean we all know pancakes are one of the cheapest meals you can make so $22.00 for 3 pancakes is just a little crazy (It's just my opinion) Yes they do come with the maple syrup but so does everything else in the whole state ! 3 scrambled eggs should not be 16.50 again my opinion. The hostess was a bit rude, potentially just overwhelmed but seemed short with many. Service was slow for coffee refills, but the food came fast. Good, but not worth the wait. This is a must try restaurant for breakfast. Two hour wait when we walked in for a couple. We almost left but glad we stayed. We were seated within 30 minutes! Electronic kiosk at door to place names on list. The restaurant is also an inn so you will have the guests coming down for meals. Not sure if they have preferential treatment for seating. The restaurant oozes vintage New England ambiance. It is a rustic dining area with big bar area. There is limited seating which explains the long wait times. We ordered a coffee, tea, and fresh squeezed orange juice. I was served a very good cup of coffee and they offered a small box full of various tea options. They do have full bar so brunch drinks are definitely offered. I asked the server for the must try menu item, "French toast!" before I finished the question. So I ordered the butler's pantry breakfast with maple sausage and ONE slice of French toast. My lady ordered meat lovers egg white omelette. Both breakfasts included home fries and their home made buttermilk biscuits! The omelette was prepared with farm fresh eggs, chunky ham, maple sausage, and bacon with melted cheese. The home fries may have been slightly over cooked. The French toast did not disappoint with Vermont maple syrup and powdered sugar. Both meals were worth the wait. Now the patrons next to us ordered jalapeño cheddar pancakes smothered in hollandaise sauce and syrup! Are you kidding me? That guy looked me dead in the eye and without speaking one word. Walked into this dreamy sunlit cafe 8am on a Monday and had the most incredible homemade biscuit with egg and cheese and this sweet maple sausage that was so out of this world, we ordered more on the side. Got a side of Blueberry pancakes with Vermont maple syrup, which were everything you want pancakes to be, as was the side of French toast sticks made from their biscuit, slightly crunchier than the average French toast and so good. Really recommend ordering a la carte so you can try as much as possible. Invigorating fresh-squeezed orange juice. Would come back tomorrow (if it was open Tuesdays). 5 stars!!!!! read more

We got here 15 minutes before they opened and found there was about 50 people already waiting! We didn't really mind waiting as we heard the food was really good and we wanted to walk main street after. By the time they opened there were another 50 people behind us. The line moved rather quickly once they started seating people as they not only have their inside seating area, but 2 outdoor areas as well. By the time we made it to the front we were given the option to sit outside which we accepted, but once we sat down we immediately noticed all the bees!! They were everywhere. We spend a few days in Stowe and the only place we ever noticed any bees was at this restaurant so maybe there is a hive on the premise idk. We asked to be moved, so they sat us on the other outside area where they said there were no bees. Once he brought us to the other side, that side had more bees than the first. So we were offered to wait for a table inside which we did. There was another group waiting in front of us as well. He quoted 20 minutes, which was fine, but after waiting more than 45 he began seating other people that were never in line. The groups that were waiting complained and the host said that they were from the waitlist that you can join remotely. Everyone that was waiting in line had been there since before the restaurant opened and for them to allow people to skip the line simply because they joined the remote waitlist made no sense. After enough complaining, he started seating the people in line and we finally made it to our table more than an hour after the restaurant opened. Suffice it to say that it was busy, so maybe that's why the service was so bad, but our server was barely at the table. The only bright spot and the reason this wasn't a 1 star review was that the food was amazing. One of the best breakfasts we've ever had. It was incredible. Hopefully, they can do something about their bee issue. As we were waiting, we saw table after table outside have to leave early because the bees were too much. After they sat down and realized the issue, they asked to take their food to go. Overhearing the host talk to the busser it seems like a recurring issue. He recommended opening a jelly packet and place it nearby to hopefully draw them away from the tables. They did so, but it didn't work. Also, they need to turn off the ability to join the remote waitlist till at least 830, so that the people in line can at least get their name on the list first. read more

I got an Açaí bowl with a side of maple sausage (as she rec'd it) and 1. The maple sausage may be the best thing I've ever had for breakfast 2. Açaí bowl was fantastic, tiny, chopped fruit (which I like). My sister got the eggs Benny on the biscuit with the maple sausage and my god. Came here for brunch on a Saturday morning. It was a pretty warm day and they have indoor and outdoor dining. They had the doors open so it was hot and sweaty inside. We were seated pretty quickly and our server was really nice. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with the maple sausage over a house-made biscuit. I also had an excellent Bloody Mary. The eggs on the Benedict were overdone and not runny at all. They were just a little jammy. The sausage was very sweet and the biscuits were very dense and overly filling. Small and quaint, staff was super helpful and she did excellent with the amount of people in and out during the short time we were there. We had a bit of a wait but it wasnt a problem since there are cute little stores around the area. There were 4 of us so we made sure to try almost everything on the menu- its not a lot on the menu but what they do have, they sure have mastered it. We ordered: pantry breakfast (basically the grand slam of Dennys), acai bowl, mixed biscuits and gravy, eggs benedict, a glass of OJ, and a pancake to share. Everything was amazing. Everyone was happy with their meal. The only thing that threw us off was the maple sausage- although we were warned so we dont hold it against them. The maple sausage was a sausage made with maple and spices- not too sweet but its definitely different. Its either you love it or its not for you and for most of is it wasnt it. Can I give this place 6 stars? Because it deserves it! On day two of our trip, the only food I couldn't stop talking about was breakfast at The Butlers Pantry. I went with the homemade biscuits and maple sausage as a breakfast sandwich (with fruit on the side) and honestly--it was the best breakfast I've had all year. They also serve fresh-squeezed orange juice, which I regret not trying... so if you go, try it for me! I came here for breakfast with my boyfriend this morning and can confidently say it's one of the best breakfasts I've ever had!! We were seated at the bar, and the bartender/server manning the bar was so great. He provided so many wonderful recommendations and was so friendly! I ordered the standard breakfast, and my boyfriend got the breakfast sandwich on a biscuit. Their homemade maple sausage is out of this world as are the biscuits and home fries! We also shared two slices of the challah French toast with fresh Vermont maple syrup, which were so rich and flavorful!
