Ambiance is always nice with the view. In fact, i go there very often. But this time, the experience was less fun. I got like a fried stick in my food. Food: Food was quick to arrive and tasted good. Flour Wrap was a bit elastic though. However or sadly, i had a fried stick or whatever that was, which was definitely not sweet potato fries( see pic). It could have been dangerous swallowing it Service: I showed the fried stick to the waitress and did not appreciate her response. She said " oh it is not so bad!" We loved our lunch here on a sunny Saturday afternoon, sitting by the water felt very relaxing and everyone so friendly! We had fish tacos, which were very tasty but the filling a bit watery so the tortilla got a bit wet too. Still the haddock was really good and the friench fries delicious! We also tried the chicken tenders (huge portion!), chicken caesar wrap (so fresh!) and chips and queso. Gotta love the drink menu also. We had spicy margaritas, daiquiris and a cocktail called a St. Germain which comes with ginger beer and prosecco (and St Germain liqueur). They give you the small prosecco bottle so you can top up your drink, I loved that! Fun place, we look forward to coming back. read more

Hands down my favorite food and dining experience in Burlington VT. An oasis for amazing food and views, placed right on Lake Champlain. Awesome service on top of that. I really enjoyed their crispy chicken caesar wrap which came with homemade potato chips. Lots of flavor and fresh ingredients. As proper New Englanders-- my grandparents really enjoyed their clam chowder and fish N chips. The seafood was great quality in both dishes. We can't wait to be back soon! read more

We were greeted warmly and they said it would be about a 20 minute wait, but we were seated in 15 minutes. 5 mins either way isn't significant to us--it's been 12+ years that we have been kid free, so we have time to spare! Outdoor bar on the deck and Adirondack chairs waiting for us to relax after a 3 hour drive in the country. Soft rock playing in the background add to the ambiance. Lake Champlain never disappoints and the layered mountains on the other side add a serene touch. Update after meal: Served within a reasonable time. Haddock was a single filet, but quite greasy. We also had the fish tacos with corn tortillas. The sauce was "okay", but the contents were generous. The sweet potato fries were too skinny to be fluffy inside. The only item we finished were the two tacos. Two points of good service were that they replaced the regular fries with hot fries when we requested it. And the server shared our feedback on the fish n chips meal with the manager who removed that charge completely. We tipped the server 20% on what the bill would've been because the problem wasn't his fault, but he made good on it. 5 stars for the pre-view experience 3 stars for the food 4 stars for the service Averages to a 4-star review **In summary, the reason to visit this establishment is for the view and the good attitudes. read more

We took our mom out for her birthday and stopped by this place since it was near the lake and already had great reviews on Yelp. Luckily, since they don't accept reservations, they were able to seat out party of 16 without a long wait. The staff were welcoming and attentive. The view was definitely breathtaking and worthwhile as we were right along the water. As for the food, everything came out right away. The location of this restaurant is awesome. You sit out at the water, and on a beautiful day like I had, there's nothing like it. The service was good, no complaints. The food was okay - simple, kind of fast foodish? I had the fish taco it was good. Husband had the chicken wrap, he thought it was a 7 out of 10, so that's good! I'll bet it's hard to get in during peak hours and season though. We did order drinks, they were okay, nothing unusual. I would stick to beer and wine. Overall I'd go again for sure. We're here visiting Burlington for the first time. We saw this place on Google maps and my 10 year old immediately said she wanted fish and chips. We walked down around 3:30pm and were welcomed and quickly seated. There was no wait at all. Coming between meals is likely your best bet. I hear this place can get packed. The waiter was quick to get our drinks and app order. The chips and salsa were good. We ordered a salmon BLT (excellent), fish tacos (wife loved them) and a child's fish and chips. I'll be honest, I took a bite and those were some of the best fish and chips I've ever had. The atmosphere here is unmatched. The view of the lake and the fact that you're literally on the dock make you forget your in Burlington VT and feel more like a tropical location. Great... almost. Splash At the Boathouse is in a beautiful location, no doubt. There is a marvelous view over looking Lake Champlain that can be seen anywhere you're sitting in the all-outdoor restaurant. The appetizers are great, just like the main entrees, too. They serve anything from quesadillas to lobster rolls to Caesar Salads- all being delicious. The service is also great. They were quick to take our order and bring out our food. But, unfortunately, the service is the reason for the missing star. This place would be a solid 6/5- if they had handled my sister's gluten allergy better. Yes, they had gluten free bread and celiac-safe options on the menu, yes, my sister decided to order the quesadilla on a corn tortilla even after the server warned her it might completely fall apart and not work, and yes, they brought it out with glutinous fries, almost poisoning my sister. I am very glad my mom decided to ask about the fries being safe for her before my sister dug in and spent the entire night throwing up. She did end up liking the quesadilla, though, and it did not fall apart like warned. As for the rest of us, we all enjoyed our food very much. I recommend getting the coconut shrimp as an entree. It is served with mango salsa and is delicious! In summary, Splash at the Boathouse is in a beautiful location and has the great variety of yummy food. Although they do have gluten free options, their gluten handling did not impress me. We ordered the lobster roll, fish and chips, and New England chowder . The chowder and fish was delicious . We weren't to fond of the lobster roll. The lobster itself was not good at all. Did not taste like real lobster meat or maybe just old lobster. But what topped everything off was our server SIERRA. Not only did she approach our table without introducing herself but she was very hasteful, and tactless. We hadn't been sitting for 3 mins and she was asking for our order . Keep in mind we were first time guest. After Noticing the lobster roll was left untouched you'd think she'd ask how was it or how was any of the food. She did not. Instead she asked about the drinks and kindly put the plate at the bottom of all the other dishes , took them to the back and brought our check. We proudly paid the check and left her 20% . Food is not amazing but the view is fantastic so we still come here, but we stopped in this evening for a drink and there were dogs barking and snarling at each other. It was mostly one dog that was the issue, but none of the staff did anything about it, like asking the owner to remove the clearly out of control animal. This dog was pulling as hard as it could and snarling loudly at another dog, it honestly didn't seem safe and made me really uncomfortable. I could see it doing the same thing again as we left, and when I mentioned it to the hostess she rolled her eyes and said she would pass on the feedback. Don't go if you don't want to deal with completely out of control animals while you dine. read more

If you've ever heard of the Naswa bar n grill on lake winnepasauki this is the Burlington VT equivalent, overpriced sub par bar food, ok drinks and the only perk being you're right on the water with a great view. During our last visit which will probably be our last visit we were sat upstairs by a nice hostess and then proceeded to order drinks from the also nice server. Told him we were just gonna do a drink and enjoy the view, he then left and came almost immediately back to tell us that we needed to order food in order to drink at that table or that he didn't want to get in trouble from his boss. Yea sorry not being forced to order food when we just wanted a drink before moving on with our day / vacation. He said I'm sure the hostess told us we had to get food but she did not. Stopped in for a light snack and drink while we were waiting for a flight to leave for our son. The location and view of the lake and mountains were beautiful while sitting on the warf. Drinks were average. However, the speed between ordering drinks and receiving them leads to the belief that the a batched premixed. The same goes for the ordering of food. It was no more than 5 minutes from ordering to eating. As for the light snack of chicken tenders, fries, chips w/ caso, and two drinks, it ran what it would cost for an average order of a light casual dinner. The nacho chips were not fully cooked and chewy. Chicken tenders were good. Drinks were ok. I do believe that the term ginger beer has a different meaning than what actual ginger beer is that they are using for their mixer. All in all, it's not a bad place but definitely would not intentionally return. It seems that they bank on being on the water to compensate for lack luster and shallow attempt at quality food and drink. read more

Giving this place 4 stars solely for the vibes and the atmosphere. We showed up on a beautiful Saturday night when they didn't have any more tables available but they had some high top tables that are first come first serve, and we got lucky. We ordered out and were able to eat on one of them~ gorgeous being right on the water and all the views of the lake!! As for the food, I ordered a lobster roll which was just ok, I've definitely had better. It was a cold lobster roll and it was fine, but too lemon-y tasting. I also wish the roll it was on was a little warmer in general. The fries they came with were yummy though, but probably wouldn't recommend the lobster roll. My mom ordered the fish tacos and she said she liked them. They were a little spicy but she enjoys spicy food. She also liked the sweet potato fries they came with. Overall I would probably come back here for the views and maybe the bar area for drinks, but as for food, it's just ok and you're probably better off checking somewhere else out. read more
