I don't usually leave reviews but was very disappointed in my recent experience at the Guild. Started by having to wait a half hour for our drinks. Ambience was still that of the Ground Round, one big open loud dining area. Service was nonexistent having to wait to get drinks and order another. I ordered the $76 Ribeye medium rare, came out close to well done. Steak itself was disappointing with the amount of fat. Definitely was not a prime piece of beef and doubt it was even choice. I buy better Ribeye steaks at Costco. read more

The concept here is great. It's a great spot with excellent entrees and starters. I would caution only against the wait time for your food but if you're like me you can understand that with a wood fire grill comes patience. The wait staff was very accommodating. We waited over an hour to get our food . We had to sit in waiting area and eat there like eating in a living room on coffee tables . We saw empty tables, so why did they say no available tables . The ambiance is great - open kitchen, fireplace, etc. The service was OK - the waitress was nice enough, but kept pestering us to take away dirty dishes when we were still eating - very annoying, breaking up our conversations. For a steakhouse, the meat was not good. They charged a lot of money for cuts that were not prime; the meat was very chewy. They also did not get our temperatures correct; 2 of us dealt with it and the other had to send her medium well order back because it was still red...that order came back gray and charred and inedible. They credited the bill for 1/2 of the amount, but really? They should have comped her entire meal. Not sure I'll return. read more

Four of us went out, two adults and two teenage kids. We had a reservation for 6:15, were seated and our drink order (a couple of cocktails and kids drinks) was served promptly. put in our food order, 3 steaks and a burger with an appetizer. Our appetizer came out in a timely fashion and the adults ordered beer and wine for the main course. All well so far. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. We waited over an hour for our food. Two tables around us, both four tops as well that were seated around the same time, managed to order, eat and pay for their meals before we were served our mains. A two top that was seated after us also managed to eat and pay before we got our food. The server apologized a couple of times and the manager also came by but there was never any acknowledgement or explanation as yo why our food was taking so long. Not the best experience. A lovely location but the seating was limited. I ordered theCast Iron Skillet Salmon which as a small portion and had a funny taste making the tip of my tongue numb. Of course I sent it back. With an apology from the manager. I received a hamburger order medium that appeared pretty rare. My husband ordered the roasted chicken which was also a small portion for the price. The server was delightful but the dinner took a long time to be delivered. Oh well. This is an exceptional place to eat! I took my daughter here for her birthday, and she couldn't have been happier. The oysters were marvelous and the Surf and Turf were out -of -this- world delicious! The service was commendable- so sensitive and caring was this waiter that everything was perfect and to the liking of my daughter on her birthday. Solid 4. Scene: Updated/ New American "tavern". Cute, well appointed, iron and wood. Service: Prompt, friendly, and probably one of the best parts of the experience. Food: the selection is wonderful and according to the server, the menu changes seasonally. The Hamachi Tartar was excellent. Smoked pork loin, was not a dish for me. Too much apple butter smeared across the plate and the pork itself, while well seasoned, was dry. I mean like almost jerky. Flavor was on point, but the dish was a textural contrast for the strong-willed. Dessert was very good. My choice, French apple run cake. Would have been masterful if they served it flambé style, but that's something restaurants may not want to do for safety. Drinks: Master mixologists here. Order a cocktail. You can drink wine at home any day. Order that unique cocktail to start your evening off with a flavor adventure. Overall: very solid 4. The reason I couldn't make it five is the pork loin. Disappointing! Overpriced, bland and barely seasoned food. The waitress and staff were pleasant which took it from 2.5 to 3 stars. The fries were cooked in old oil. The grilled vegetable plate was stone cold and all but raw with some grill marks to tease you. Just a disappointment all around. Will not go back I could go into greater detail but I'll save everyone from reading an epic post. If you go thinking it's owned by the same group that owns The Farmhouse in Burlington so it will be of the same quality you'll be wrong.! read more

Surprised my wife with a dinner here for our anniversary. We were seated next to the kitchen area so we could see all the prep. pro's: As an app, ordered the oysters. Oysters were amazing. the smell of the wood fired grill and the food was incredible. loved the decor. server was attentive and kind. my wife ordered the smoked wings. they were amazing. kitchen staff brought dessert options on the house as an apology (see below). cons: ordered the Burger medium rare with pickled red onions "on the side." why? didn't know how pungent they would be and didn't want them to overpower the burger. when the burger arrived, it was medium well and the onions were on the burger. didn't want to wait to re-fire so i opted to keep it. server took it back anyway and had the onions removed and the lettuce replaced. did the best she could to mend it. overall - if you're going to specialize in grilling and price your food high, then you have to execute every firing. the food was delicious. but these 2 important details majorly detracted from the experience of the burger. hopefully your experience will be different. the restaurant does take measures to right wrongs. so keep that in mind. read more

Very enjoyable work dinner. Staff was great in spite of being short handed. Excellent meal especially for out of town guests.

The food was too good to give it anything less than a five. The drinks were good, but the poutine and the bbq plate for two made the night memorable. This is poutine done right and poutine that I'll remember for a long time. Not only were the fries crispy, even the ones that were soaked with gravy, but the cheese tasted so amazing. This is one of those places that I would go back just to get more of the poutine. I wasn't expecting to like the rosemary that came with it, but it somehow I worked together. I also loved how it was served in a cast iron dish because I felt like everything was kept warm until we were finished with it. The bbq plate was also phenomenal. Being from Texas, I'm a bit of a brisket snob. And unlike a lot of people, I tend to lean more towards fatty brisket. Guild Tavern's beef was incredibly tender. As was their pulled pork, something I rarely get when eating bbq. Even their chicken (which I usually get less than pork) had the most amazing smoke flavor to them. Tonight it struck me that the menu options and creativity of the chefs reminds me of the old NECI that was on Church St. Pricey but worth the visit to experience food and service that makes you feel good about spending local and supporting people committed to the Foodies of the world. After a $12 salad we waited an hour and 15 min for our less than average meal. For $32 I got the smallest chicken leg ( I thought was a pigeon) over a slight bed of orzo. it was not noted on the menu that it was a leg. I thought it would have been a boneless breast over a nice dish of Orzo and veg but it was a disappointment. My grandon had the Salmon over a puree with a slight bit of asparagus for $32 and I swear the Salmon was no more than a 4 oz piece. Are you kidding me? oh yes they ran out of bread as well.
