Stopped in to have some lunch on our way through South Burlington. Sat at the bar with a bunch of locals. Excellent service from Kyle who ran the whole place effortlessly. Very good draft list. Had an excellent burger & fries. The Old Post has a lot of character and I can imagine it being very lively later in the day with various activities. Conveniently located off RT.7 with plenty of parking. I am so glad we stopped for lunch. I recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

Great bar food selection and staff is very helpful and friendly. Nice outdoor area where they have performers on fridays. It's a good spot to chill with friends and family.

My husband and I are on vacation from MA. We had dinner at The Old Post. Kyle, the bartender could not have nicer, and more welcoming. We sat at the corner of the bar, and had drinks and food. The ambience is wonderful, but what was so wonderful to see was the many regulars who came in, and how warmly they were greeted. We had salad and wings and a cheeseburger. All were delicious, but the wings were amazing! Crispy and tender and juicy. If we lived here in Burlington or Shelburne this would be our go to spot, our regular hang out. Also, the horse sculpture behind the bar was so beautiful, I had to take a picture! Thank you, Kyle, for making a couple of people on vacation feel like they were right at home!

So, I should have posted this addendum sooner. I don't log in here often, so it's been a couple years. But I found the gem below, seemingly from the owner, Kim, as a 'compliment' to my comment in the past. It was from 'Kim R' who is exactly who I was talking about in my original post. It's a pretty ridiculous 'red herring' argument to state how much in ticket sales were donated. By law they MUST be donated. That wasn't my point at all. It was that she was partaking in a personal gain at that moment. I still remember the situation. It's still bad form. This is not someone you should be giving business to. My facts were 100% as happened. Here's what I received (screenshot attached): First of all there is only one owner in this establishment. She has raised OVER $150,000 through ticket sales towards The Mike Loyer Foundation. Please do not write a review on something that you do not have the correct facts! EVERYONE understands that gambling is a game of chance.

I was a little hesitant coming here because great food is just as important to me as great drinks,…read moreand the menu was very limited. The menu listed only two mains: a "Charred Oat Burger" and a "Short Rib Toastie" in addition to two salads and four "shareables". I believe there were one or two specials that day as well, one being Steak Frites. But the food reviews were good and the drink reviews were great so I decided to go. Even if I had second thoughts the welcome from Bob the bartender when I entered (first customer when I arrived at 5:00 opening time) seemed so sincere that not staying was out of the question. I took my seat at the bar (supposedly rebuilt with materials from a bar in Ireland that closed). Bob was great, with an enthusiasm for great whiskey that he couldn't hide if he tried, and didn't seem to mind that I'm not enough of a connoisseur to have many opinions of my own. Between other customers that soon filled the place he kept me talking and I'm not much of a talker. About whiskey, where I'm from, Burlington in general, and he gave me some tips on some lesser-known Vermont attractions I didn't know about. Their whiskey collection was large and from many lands. Having just returned from Ireland I was pleased to see several I remember from my visit - not just the usual Jamesons here! I prefer a cocktail to straight whiskey though, so it was Sazeracs tonight. Two specialties. First the Rosemary's Sazerac: Bulleit Rye, rosemary syrup, Peychauds bitters, rinse of Laphroaig, torched rosemary sprig. My second was also a Sazerac: their Irish Sazerac, made with an Irish whiskey and other ingredients which I've forgotten. Both drinks were fantastic, generous with the alcohol, and made with attention to details like properly-sized ice cubes (large) and pre-chilled glasses. For food I got the "Charred Oak Burger." I don't know where the "oak" comes in. The only burger on the menu, it was made with two thin patties, a great quantity of whiskey & honey-glazed pork belly in large pieces, kimchi mayo, and a brioche bun. One of the most interesting burgers I've had in a long time. Even though it was a bit overstuffed more due to the pork belly than the patties I managed to eat it without it falling apart, a common problem with burgers. Instead of the fries it came with I elected to get the roasted Brussels sprouts instead, a special shareable of the day. I don't think I was charged extra even though it was a rather large portion. These were excellent too, sweet and bacony with no bitterness. As it got busier the noise level increased but only moderately. I liked the music playing, a mix of blues and energetic classic rock. Overhearing other conversations I could tell that these were discerning customers who took their whiskey seriously and asked detailed questions before settling on their choice of libation. Just two things on the dessert menu: Chocolate Overload and Caramel Sea Salt Cheesecake. I got the Overload: chocolate cake with Bailey's Irish Cream sauce. Nothing special but I enjoyed it; a nice way to finish the meal. It was big enough that I took about half home, along with half the Brussels sprouts. This is definitely a place I want to come back to. I wish the food menu was more extensive but that burger and sprouts were so good I could see repeating the same menu again, trying new specialty cocktails next time.

NOT because the Rotisserie was short-staffed, but because management was unprofessional and refused customer input - and chose to be victimized. Imagine my chagrin and surprise when our beautiful blond waitress confused our order and brought out a take-out order on a plate instead of the actual bowl of soup my husband had ordered . She apologized , which we accepted, mistakes happen.....and then another waitress brought out a cup of soup, instead of the bowl actually ordered. The other two orders were perfect. If you are looking for a restaurant that states the customer is always right, do NOT COME HERE. Our guest proposed that perhaps the bill could be lowered and reflect that a "wait time" was incurred due to the mistake of two waitresses. Our waitress summoned her manager who stated that "at least the food arrived" when confronted with the suggestion/ criticism. The manager summoned the Rotisserie owner who NEVER asked about the customer experience; and proceeded to escort our guest out of the Rotisserie . What happened to the belief that the customer is always right ? That is not the reality at the Rotisserie in South Burlington. So sad. Please note. The Rotisserie has been my favorite restaurant. The ambiance and food was great here. Both the Owner and Manager of the Rotisserie chose to be unprofessional over a minor dispute and humiliated the customers and ruined their dining experience. An owner who unquestioningly accepts the word of his manager and refuses to even hear his customer's account is one who lacks basic management/ownership skills . I would not recommend the Rotisserie as a restaurant that offers a totally good dining experience.
