    Prime rib Benedict
    Von D.

Made reservations for graduation day brunch. Surprised to get one within a week. Especially now knowing how good it was! Great environment, super nice waiter, and the food was excellent. We had 6 in our party, and everyone enjoyed their meal. I had prime rib Benedict. It was cooked perfectly and so flavorful. The hash browns were delicious and well-seasoned. Very happy with our experience.

Nice little spot for a dining experience. In town for work and this was walking distance from the hotel I was staying at. We see the reviews so my coworkers and I decided to come for Monday night dinner. We called ahead a made a reservation for 6:30 pm. When we arrived we saw just how small and packed it was. It's about the size of a small bar with only 6-7 tables. I would not recommend for very large groups of more than 4 people. The waiter was very nice and accommodating. Using the company card for food only and personal card for alcohol was not a problem for him to do. Drive were brought out quickly. We had some duck wings for an appetizer. They were good and it was my first time I had them. They were a little more gamey but taste like chicken. For my main course my co worker and I ordered the last two cuts of prime rib. Man it was a huge portion. I could not even finish it off even after sharing with some of my friends who wanted a taste. One of my friend got the salmon that also looked delicious. I had a cocktail that looks good but I wasn't a fan. It was their seasonal signature drink that had cocoa in it but I can't remember the name. Over all a good experience and I would try again.

I had a chance to visit the Gryphon in the summer. It had a lovely, historic and quaint atmosphere. We were seated quickly and the server was very nice. We went in for lunch and ordered a bunch of appetizers, all of which were delicious!! I would definitely be excited to try the rest of the menu! All our food came out hot or cold as needed and in a timely fashion. I would definitely like to go back!

I had a great dining experience at The Gryphon. It was packed on a Saturday evening, but I was able to score a seat on one of the couches. My server was sweet and had lots of great recommendations. I started with a raspberry mule cocktail which was very tasty, the spicy rigatoni with shrimp, and had the cheesecake for dessert. I felt the entree was on the smaller side but it had great flavor. Overall, very nice place to eat in Burlington.

I had high hopes for this family owned business in Burlington but I left underwhelmed and a little bitter. The good: The ambiance is quaint, unique and warm The restaurant was quiet and tranquil The hostess was friendly and prompt in seating me The bad: The waitress didn't know answers to basic questions about the menu: In asking how the salmon was cooked, my waitress told me med-rare to med. I clarified that I was referring to the style of cooking (i.e., blackened, grilled, broiled) and she didn't know nor did she offer to ask. This happened with a few questions I had. The menu was limited, there were no specials & food was bland Food took too long to be delivered (22 mins between ordering and receiving appetizer) I had the lavender lemonade, which was delicious. I ordered the baked cheese as an appetizer and had high hopes, but there was far too much garlic butter added, so the feta lost its distinctness. The baguettes were over toasted. The Caesar salad was not at all meaningful: the lettuce wasn't crisp, dressing wasn't unique (and there was too much of it) and chicken lacked flavor and was a bit over cooked Overall, I felt the cost of this meal ($65 with tip) did not reflect the quality of food and service I received, and I left regretting my choice and surprised my experience seemed to differ so much from other Yelpers'.

On a quick swing through Vermont, I stopped in for a quick brunch. I was seated at the bar very quickly even though it was clear the restaurant was SEVERELY understaffed. The two people working the FOH were clearly doing everything they could to keep things moving. When it was my turn to order, I took this into account and put in my complete order so that the bartender didn't have to come back. The French Onion Soup was amazing! I enjoyed it so much that I had a hard time waiting for it to cool properly on a few bites. The Gryphon Burger was great if not a tad bit rich. The flavors were great but were right on the line of overwhelming the burger itself. They got it just right. A very cute and classy place for a great brunch/lunch. I only hope they find a few people to help the staff out.

This was a great spot for a quick lunch on a wintry Sunday. We had a later reservation, but arrived early so we were able to sit at the bar. It was a bit of a squeeze, but comfortable. The service was good, although they seemed quite harried so we did wait a while for drinks and ordering but it was a nice atmosphere. The French onion soup was absolutely perfect, and the French dip sandwich was also good. I'd definitely return but would wait for a table next time.

Family of 4 for Mother's Day brunch. Review - we were seated right away and had a reservation for a couch seat because it was fully booked - there were empty tables when we arrived and when we left and I was told that they would let me know if there was an actual table available as our kids are 5 and 7. We were waited on by Liam The food was fine. Cooks did a great job. We ordered bloody Mary's and I had to add Tabasco and salad and pepper for flavor. It was kind of bland. We were not asked how it was. Our food came out in a timely manor. We got French toast, breakfast sandwich and two Benedict's with greens on the side. The greens were undressed and no ask of dressing. We were going to ask for dressing but were never checked on. After we received our food we didn't see the waiter the entire time until he brought our check and asked us if we"we were slowing down" When our food was clearly gone. When it was time to pay they expected and suggested tip on the total and not pre-taxed amount. Again the food was good but it was not a great experience.

I enjoyed the waiter, although my wife did not. He talked a lot and everything I asked him was his favorite. It didn't seem genuine. Especially when the table sat down next to us and everything they wanted or was his favorite too. We were disappointed that the one thing we wanted on the menu was not available for food. They're mocktails were a normal price and their cocktails were a little pricey, but well worth it for the craft that they were doing. I enjoyed both of the cocktails that I had, although was disappointed that they didn't have the monkey brains cocktail that I wanted anymore. Overall, it was a cute place and I'd probably go back to have a cocktail.

I rate places by their category, and this one earns my highest marks in the three most important categories: food, drinks, and overall experience very fun casual atmosphere. The pizza was a masterpiece. Thick, insanely fresh dough was complemented by a decadently sweet-savory tomato sauce and topped with a perfect combination of savory sausage, sweet onion, and ricotta. Simply scrumptious. The drink menu is tight but brilliantly creative. I started with the Good Catastrophe (Brandy, Italicus, Lemon, Turbines, Orange Bitters)--exquisite. I followed it with the mind-blowing Via Con Dio (Rye, Ramazotti, Honey, Strawberry and espresso). Topping all this off was the wait staff and Mary, a wizard/artist at drink mixing. The staff and the patrons made this, along with the food and drink, one of the best holistic dining experiences I've had in years. Astounding and exquisite.

They helped take our coats/hang them for us. We were always closely attended to and given time if more was needed. The homemade pasta dish we got with greens and mushrooms was fantastic! My bf liked the shrimp appetizer/smaller dish and we all liked the trout, but it seemed a little mushy/overcooked. Cons: loud/bad acoustics, dim, portion size(only for one specific dish) A little hard to hear inside when it's at peak capacity. Was at dinner with a group of four and it was quite hard to hear the person diagonally across from me the entire night. Lighting was a little too dim for my personal liking but others may not mind(for example, it was darker inside than it was outside at 6pm). Food was overall very good. The disappointments were a clam dish we couldn't even first find any clams in and then the two people who got them when we divided up the dish only got two each! And the side greens, seemed overcooked and were over-salted. Would definitely try it again would recommend to others.

The menu listed only two mains: a "Charred Oat Burger" and a "Short Rib Toastie" in addition to two salads and four "shareables". I believe there were one or two specials that day as well, one being Steak Frites. But the food reviews were good and the drink reviews were great so I decided to go. Even if I had second thoughts the welcome from Bob the bartender when I entered (first customer when I arrived at 5:00 opening time) seemed so sincere that not staying was out of the question. I took my seat at the bar (supposedly rebuilt with materials from a bar in Ireland that closed). Bob was great, with an enthusiasm for great whiskey that he couldn't hide if he tried, and didn't seem to mind that I'm not enough of a connoisseur to have many opinions of my own. Between other customers that soon filled the place he kept me talking and I'm not much of a talker. About whiskey, where I'm from, Burlington in general, and he gave me some tips on some lesser-known Vermont attractions I didn't know about. Their whiskey collection was large and from many lands. Having just returned from Ireland I was pleased to see several I remember from my visit - not just the usual Jamesons here! I prefer a cocktail to straight whiskey though, so it was Sazeracs tonight. Two specialties. First the Rosemary's Sazerac: Bulleit Rye, rosemary syrup, Peychauds bitters, rinse of Laphroaig, torched rosemary sprig. My second was also a Sazerac: their Irish Sazerac, made with an Irish whiskey and other ingredients which I've forgotten. Both drinks were fantastic, generous with the alcohol, and made with attention to details like properly-sized ice cubes (large) and pre-chilled glasses. For food I got the "Charred Oak Burger." I don't know where the "oak" comes in. The only burger on the menu, it was made with two thin patties, a great quantity of whiskey & honey-glazed pork belly in large pieces, kimchi mayo, and a brioche bun. One of the most interesting burgers I've had in a long time. Even though it was a bit overstuffed more due to the pork belly than the patties I managed to eat it without it falling apart, a common problem with burgers. Instead of the fries it came with I elected to get the roasted Brussels sprouts instead, a special shareable of the day. I don't think I was charged extra even though it was a rather large portion. These were excellent too, sweet and bacony with no bitterness. As it got busier the noise level increased but only moderately. I liked the music playing, a mix of blues and energetic classic rock. Overhearing other conversations I could tell that these were discerning customers who took their whiskey seriously and asked detailed questions before settling on their choice of libation. Just two things on the dessert menu: Chocolate Overload and Caramel Sea Salt Cheesecake. I got the Overload: chocolate cake with Bailey's Irish Cream sauce. Nothing special but I enjoyed it; a nice way to finish the meal. It was big enough that I took about half home, along with half the Brussels sprouts. This is definitely a place I want to come back to. I wish the food menu was more extensive but that burger and sprouts were so good I could see repeating the same menu again, trying new specialty cocktails next time.
