Delicious breakfast/brunch spot with excellent service and cool vibe. It was really busy when we figured out where to grab food before making our way home, so we were lucky to find a couple of spots at the bar since there weren't any tables available (and they were jammed with reservations throughout the morning). I tried the egg sandwich and loved it. Mushroom tartine with poached eggs got rave reviews. The ginger beer was delicious (from Maine, if I remember correctly) and the iced coffee was solid. Great brunch!

Got tea with maple syrup-- they put in a lot of maple syrup... I suppose this is a good thing. Was left uncomfortably crunching on loose leaf tea at the top. Not at all appetizing. Got the mushroom ragout, which was basically just toast with cheese and mushroom on it. Not at all special and sort of misleading on the menu. Asked for eggs on the side which they did do. Asked for eggs poached and they were rubbery and fully cooked through. NO run. Pictured. We got the home fries and asked for hollandaise on the side. They forgot the hollandaise and eventually brought us hollandaise with CHUNKS in it. This is like step 1 of making hollandaise. Ambience is good I guess, but the food is not worth it. We were shocked at how bad this was.

We had a great brunch here Saturday morning. I was a little skeptical at first because it's in a hotel. Don't let that lead you away. The service was great. Everyone led with a pleasant smile. It's a casual ambiance. We started brunch with a charcuterie board and a selection of VT cheese. Then we followed it up with the pancakes and the Red Flannel Hash. I've never seen brisket paired with beets but whoever came up with it had a great idea. Good balance of salty and mildly sweet. The pancakes were really good. To me, they had the perfect texture, sweetness (not very sweet), and thickness. To drink my boyfriends has the bloody Maria and I had a drink that had expresso and tequila (I can't remember the name). If I come back to Burlington, I'll come back for brunch

Salad & Scallion Biscuits - comes w/the dinners for 2

If you stumble upon this restaurant because you are a Hotel Vermont guest, you may never be this travel food lucky again, as this a place to purposefully beeline to. With so many tempting dinner items to choose from, we settled on: Whole Rabbit (for 2) - a delicious, sweet-ish, mildly mole-tasting (cumin, blood orange, smoked paprika glazed) rabbit, served with red wine braised cabbage, refried beans, corn tortillas, spicy green salsa & a chimichurri sauce. Delicious! The for 2 plates come with very flaky scallion biscuits w/butter, and a lightly sesame-dressed salad of field & baby greens. For dessert, we had the Cranberry Custard - topped with a generous amount of thick whipped cream, and a handful of candied whole hazelnuts. Get this! Don't avoid it, cranberry avoiders! Sorbets - a scoop each of Lime Orgeat & Blueberry were so lightly sweet & refreshing New to us is a local canned non-alcoholic beverage called Bitter Bubble. We tried both the Sour Cherry Chicory & the Orange Chamomile & loved both. Lightly herby, lightly fruity, & bubbly - this will be on our shopping list from now on. Everything was so good, we came back for breakfast: 2 eggs, crispy bacon, the bright sesame-dressed salad greens w/radish that we had for dinner, buttered Red Hen toast w/jam. Basic, but elevated w/these excellent local ingredients! Breakfast Sammich - fresh squishy brioche bun, runny fried egg, that crispy bacon, Vermont cheddar. SUPER GOOD. Buttermilk pancakes w/wild blueberries - VT maple syrup & soft butter made these over the top delicious. Super strong Brio coffee & an Earl Grey latte were perfect with it all. A little bird told us that the Spring menu will be starting around May 8th, so we were lucky to catch these delish bites before they go away. Looking forward to trying other breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner menu items!

At first, I wasn't sure what to think about this small lobby restaurant in Hotel Vermont. But as I got deeper into the meal, I really enjoyed it. The Mai Tom cocktail made with both gin and rum was excellent. The charcuterie and cheese plate, which they kindly subbed out the blue cheese, was huge. There was so much meat on the plate we couldn't finish it. Next we had the shrimp toast with fiddleheads. Both the toast and the fiddleheads were exceptional. Finally, for dessert, at the recommendation of our server we had the rhum cake. Not too boozy (good for some but I like boozy) and came served with an unusual, but awesome molasses caramel. Highly recommended! They have their own private label gin, a barrel selection of Tom Cat from Barr Hill. It's very nice and a little more boozy than the Tom Cat you would buy at the liquor store. As I already told you, I like boozy. Our server was excellent to us and so was the bartender when I went back for one last round just before closing. The room is stylish, like the hotel. Well worth a try.

I usually don't like to go to the same place more than once when I'm traveling, but we got such killer charcuterie and cheese boards that we came back for more when we wanted a drink and snack. I also usually don't gravitate toward hotel restaurants but this was also an exception. Wow! We really enjoyed our happy hour here--we were warmly welcomed, got seating easily despite it being busy and without a reservation, and loved the food and drinks. Even found a new cider we love. Highly recommend stopping in for at least some small bites and staying a night at Hotel Vermont

All local farm to table ingredients. Local wines and spirits. Local cheeses, including some pretty rare choices. Entree I had was the pork tenderloin. Portion was huge. I was lured here because someone said it was better than Bistro de Margo; it was not. Service was good from the server and poor from the bus boys and kitchen. The kitchen failed in many ways. Could I give it fractional scorse it would be 2.6. The server was good and had a phenomenal memory to take all our orders with no notes. Wow! The three appetizers were delivered out of order. One came. Fast forward 20 minutes; the remaining two came out. The appetizer dishes were never cleared. They hung around until we decided not to have desert! The appetizers were underwhelming; how can you screw up a Caesar salad? The main courses disappointed in many ways. The dishes were serverd luke warm. Mussels were dehydrated on top of the heap and obvioulsy sat under a heat map. The steaks were cooked well but accompaniments were cold, cool, or barely warm; take your pick none were appetizing. The plates were stone cold which didn't help. Finally after dinner was served and eaten and plates cleared for deserts we did not order the remaining plates and debis were cleared from the table. Not good. Not professional. Not worth the money. The wines were good. The beer was good. Dinner came to $275 plus another $60 tip. It wasn't worth it. There is clealry issues in the kitchen and staff. They were simply not into it. I would not come back. If you want a French dinner look elsewhere or just don't try that in Burlington.

Deep City was a recommendation for brunch from a local. It is the sister restaurant to Foam Brewers (right next door). When we walked in there was a small wait but not bad. We headed over to the brewery to grab coffee and to check it out. It is definitely a cool spot. They have a huge selection of beer, a small wine program (who knew) and small bites. Unfortunately they did not have TVs or else we would've come back to watch the football game but we did purchase some beer before heading back over for brunch at Deep City. The menu here is a little more Mexican-forward think Huevos Rancheros, but there was still plenty of items that looked appealing. We split the banana bread with maple walnut cream cheese (to die for) to share as an app which was fresh and delicious. I also ordered a fruit cup which was also good. We then shared their Huevos Verdes which is similar to Huevos Rancheros except it came with a tomatillo salsa. It was good but very sloppy to eat. Overall it was a great experience, and service was phenomenal. A great brunch place while visiting Burlington VT.

First of all, they have a parking lot, which is free to park in, which was super convenient. The menu is interesting and everything sounded so good, including the daily features (duck hash, yum)! It made it super difficult to decide what to order, but we eventually settled on the biscuits and herb gravy, the across the pond, a side of the cheesy kale, the polenta breakfast dish, and the trout and eggs. Our server was super patient and kind and the food was amazing. I don't usually like biscuits and gravy that much, but their vegetarian gravy was so tasty. It reminded me a bit of broccoli cheddar soup in the best way, and the biscuits were flaky. I'd had the English breakfast plate at Penny Cluse before, and this one was even better. I loved the mushrooms and the sausage. The cornmeal crusted trout on the trout and eggs plate was crispy and not fishy at all, and the best trout I've ever tried. I loved that everything we ordered was so saucy since I'm a big sauce girl. This place is high on my list to revisit when I'm back in Burlington!

Poco was absolutely as good as the ratings suggest. We had 4 items... Grilled Carrots, Elote fritters, Dan Dan Noodles and wok fried shrimp. The carrots were multi-colored, gorgeous, and surrounded by delicious flavors and accompaniments including a yogurt-based sauce and a spicy chili oil. The Elote fritters were spicy and crispy, served moments after coming out of the fryer and topped with a chipotle blueberry sauce. The Dan Dan noodles were amazing. Typically Dan Dan noodles are made with ground pork but Poco's was made with mushrooms. The noodles were tender and a little thicker than I'm used to but felt freshly made. The flavor overall was savory and umami filled with a gentler heat than other Dan Dan's I've had. This was tied for the very best Dan Dan I've ever had and I try Dan Dan anytime it's on the menu at places I eat at. The wok fried shrimp were not a favorite of any of the 3 of us that had them but they were still quite interesting with a bracingly acidic sauce and crispy rice that had a texture that left me wondering how they did it. We dined on a Tuesday in April and were in a line waiting for them to open. The entire dining room was essentially seated immediately when they opened. Despite this, dishes and drinks started arriving very soon after we ordered and the pacing was great throughout the meal. If you go on a weekend or even a busy summer weekday you should be ready for a substantial line and they don't take reservations. Desert was ice-cream made in house and both the cinnamon and strawberry ice creams were beyond decadent and rich. The serving of 2 little golf ball sized scoops might look skimpy but this is powerful rich stuff and the serving is really all you probably want of such intense high fat ice cream.

Tonight the waiter or manager Matt or "long haired dude" in other post was insanely rude to me this evening. We waited an hour to get a table, expressed discomfort with the table and wanted to move. Anyways we wanted to switch to the bar, told us the bar stools were reserved (how can you reserve a bar stool if you don't accept reservations), then noticed a three top leave as I asked asked to move there as well, he rudely said he had another three top going there and there is no where he could put us, then finally more guest left and I was able to get us a seat at the bar. I was excited to finally change seats and he rudely put his arm out and said "we have to clean it first!!" There are ways you can go about things but he was insanely rude and unprofessional. Then I saw other guest who sat at that uncomfortable table also want to move (that's how shit of a table it was) and then to top it all off this person sat other two tops at three top tables that we were denied because we were a two top. For $70 for a cheeseburger, potato's, and soda I expect kind service. If I can stretch my arms out and touch the backs of guest at the bar and guest to my other side....
