WiFi worked well and no crazy passwords (definitely a plus!) Breakfast was good. Homefries were delicious!! Had BOTH the large waffles and a mini waffle option. The pool looked nice from a distance (sadly didn't go in). Staff was friendly and gave out good recommendations. Has a lot of kid friendly activities like an arcade downstairs and an area to "rent" board games. If I'm ever in the Northeast Kingdom again I would stay here in a heartbeat! While we were there everyone at the counter treated us with great hospitality. I am just shocked. What a change. I've never been to Vermont before. I'm hoping this is across-the-board. If so we will start staying again. But maybe this is a fluke. Lol Even when we left they offered my husband a couple bottles of water for our trip. And they had coffee and soda available as well. I really am shocked. We are big travelers and I am amazed how well we were treated. Good breakfast as well. Top notch.

Oddly enough there are tip QR codes everywhere you look. Well if they deserved it ---of course. I only have one criticism. While the A/C was working, we had difficulty regulating it to feel comfortable. It was rather cold and clammy at night, but by morning, we felt fine. It wasn't so much the cold part that bothered me, but the clammy part was what got to me. Everyone kept saying how unseasonably hot and humid it was for Stowe, so who knows... maybe the A/C just had difficulty regulating itself... or we didn't know how to use it properly. It wasn't bad, per se, but it was a little uncomfortable some of the time. The room overall, though, was really great. Also, we loved that they had Netflix and Amazon Prime, so we could settle into the shows we were missing while traveling. That was a nice surprise ! Most hotels don't offer any of that. We had planned to dine out at one of the local restaurants, but we found out they were serving dinner at Grant's, the inn's restaurant. We were tired after traveling around all day, so we stayed at the inn and ate a great meal at Grant's. (See separate review for that.) Also, the common areas in the main building next to the restaurant are very tastefully appointed, spacious, with lots of games, books and sitting areas for people to utilize. We walked around them to see what there was but returned to our room to relax and watch some of our shows. My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. One night in Stowe just isn't enough, especially at the Stowe Village Inn. Let's hope there will be a next time !

The price / night was reasonable, the breakfast included was very standard (coffee, tea, some breakfast pastries / bagels) but did its job to keep us energized for the days of exploring Stowe or hitting the slopes (!) Cons: this hotel is marketed as walking distance to the Ben and Jerry's Factory. While it is true they are half of a mile down the same road, THIS IS NOT WALKABLE! It is all highway with no shoulder and a blind curve. it is also uphill the entire way in case you decide you are not afraid of lots of fast cars and want to brave the walk. I really wish the hotel would offer a shuttle. THERE IS NO UBER IN WATERBURY. There are local "taxi" services (private car services, really) who will give you a ride to B&J for $35. Also of note: the breakfast included Vermont maple syrup, but there were no pancakes or waffles to put it on. I ended up putting it on the severely overcooked bacon to try to soften it up and to be able to experience the local syrup. Additionally, the hot tub jets were not working. It was still a nice soak and was clean and not overly chlorinated, but jets would have been nice. Other than those three complaints, our stay really was great. The rooms were larger than expected, and everyone who worked there was just fantastic.

With only one other room on that floor, we rarely ran into the other guests, until breakfast. Breakfast started with a yogurt parfait, followed by French Toast and bacon with delicious local Morse Farm syrup that I loved so much, I went to pick up some to bring home. After just one night, I already felt at home that before leaving, I checked out the other two options and fell in love with the Mountain View King for next time.

The owner apologized a few hours before our arrival for some boxes that were on the outside porch due to renovations. This did not begin to prepare us for the state of the home. Stuff was all over the hallways, our room was incredibly dusty, windows were filthy, and there were ladybugs all over. The owner tried telling us they are all over VT inns at this time of year. This is simply not the case. To pay $442 for one night was highway robbery. If we could have found another place to stay on short notice, we would have. There wasn't even a key to lock our room. We left as soon as possible before breakfast.

My family stayed in one large captain's room of this old and beautifully renovated firehouse. A well outfitted kitchenette, with many features, a fairly large refrigerator, microwave, etc. were in the room, which actually is a large den and a private bedroom, with sleeping space for about 4 comfortably and possibly up to 6 people (if a cot or floor mattress can be part of your stay). Polished wood floors with fine rugs make the rooms look very special. The decor is also very well done, with genuine brass fire equipment and other features that make this a fantastic place to stay. One couple comfortably stayed on the pull out sofa bed in our room. The other couple stayed in a spacious private room. A child slept on the other large sofa, so 5 people were able to fit in this space and it was about $350 a night. The child was excited to be staying in a firehouse. Wonderful large pictures of the firehouse's former captains dating back 100 years or more are lined up in the hallway. So, this was the absolute best find of a visit to this region, which includes the Ben & Jerry's factory, great skiing not far away in Stowe, the Goddard College campus, and more. I can highly recommend a stay at this perfect little inn. It rests atop a cool pub that serves good food, but the noise, even on a weekend, isn't noticeable (or hardly so) -- and all closes fairly early in this small town anyway. A big plus is the proximity to the Opera House, where we hadn't planned, but go to go see the great folk singer, Arlo Guthrie. Many other acts (comedy, drama, music) come through this terrific little town.

They also had a game room with air hockey and table tennis. A small gym that we didn't use but I saw someone else using it. Off of the pool was an outdoor lounge area. They had a small store for snacks and other amenities. The staff was very friendly. We will definitely return to this hotel. The only thing we didn't like was pulling out onto a very sloped road- make sure you have reliable brakes! But that's not the hotel's fault. I don't mind paying high rates if I get value for money but I feel like our rates were hiked to the max because of the Fall Season. Our room had paint peeling, wires falling out of TV & moldy showers with paint peeling. I am actually so annoyed because I feel like I was scammed. Buyer be very aware.
