Very Disappointing Experience - Would Not Return…read more Our first night at the Stone Hill Inn in Stowe was fine. The room was clean, well-appointed, and we had no issues initially. However, the experience declined quickly. Breakfast was mediocre at best. The omelet was bland, and the oatmeal felt like an afterthought -- disappointing given that breakfast is part of what you're paying for at an inn like this. The second night was where things truly went wrong. There was no hot water. We specifically booked this inn for the jacuzzi tub after a long hike, which was the main reason for choosing this property. Instead, we had to check hourly to see if hot water returned, never did, and ultimately went to bed dirty from hiking with no ability to shower. The following morning, the situation escalated unnecessarily. The innkeeper confronted me and aggressively asked me to step into the kitchen, accusing us of breaking a toilet and shattering porcelain on the ground. I was shocked and told him I had no idea what he was referring to because we did not damage anything. I asked for a moment to understand what he was talking about and was told, angrily, that I had "one minute." I declined breakfast that morning -- which was unfortunate since that's one of the supposed highlights of staying here -- and asked if he would like to inspect the room before we left. He refused. I even offered for him to look at the bathroom to see how it would have been impossible for us to damage the toilet, and again he declined. Importantly, we had tipped the innkeeper who cleaned the room, who reportedly found the alleged damage and cleaned it up -- yet noted nothing to us and showed no concern at the time. The belligerent and accusatory behavior of the innkeeper completely overshadowed any positives from the stay. This is not how paying guests -- especially those booking for a romantic getaway, honeymoon, or special occasion -- should ever be treated. We will never return, and I strongly caution anyone considering this inn, particularly if you are looking for a peaceful, romantic experience.

We had also wanted to rewnew our vows and hoped to use a room in the Inn. We knew there would be an added fee (and would have gladly paid) for the use of the room but never expected the unprofessional behavior from the owners! They wanted to plan the event or we had to have it elsewhere. Not considering the fact that our anniv is in the winter, "why not have it outside". ‍ In our talks and emails I was reminded upmteen times "we are a business". (duh)! When I cancelled our res (5 mos out) they wanted to fine us. And called our officiant and yelled at her! Someone needs to teach them Hospitality 101. To be fair, we never ended up staying there. The lack of their knowledge of what a Guest is, kept us away.

The owner was so kind and helpful when we needed anything. Great service and delicious food. We loved the breakfast and were always excited to come back from our day to find the afternoon snack waiting for us. The location is perfect. Just 5 minute drive from main street Stowe. We enjoyed the game room and spent most of our evenings there. We also appreciated the hot tub with the view of Mount Mansfield. The inn had a menu of assorted food and drinks to choose from, and the order process was seamless. You order these items on their website and it is delivered to you. The room itself was spacious and comfortable. We had the ability to log into our Netflix account on the tv. I also liked the burning stove in the room. Everything was perfect. We would love to plan another visit to the Brass Lantern Inn. Exceptional service, food, atmosphere, and amenities.

For the first three nights, we stayed in the Madonna Peak room and the fourth night at the Pinnacle which was larger with a better view. All the rooms are either upstairs or downstairs a steep flight of stairs but we had no worries as our suitcases were carried to our rooms. We were treated every morning to a different delicious breakfast and a snack in the late afternoon. The beds are extremely comfortable and we spent time in the hot tub which was so relaxing. I highly recommend the Brass Lantern Inn as a place to stay in Stowe, Vermont.

The owners were so kind and welcoming everybody that works there was very nice and breakfast was the best part of the day. The owner breaks up homemade muffins for breakfast every day, and there are plenty full options, such as scrambled eggs and sausage, yogurt, and granola. And a pack it up so well for you so you can totally eat it on your way up to the mountain. The absolute peak of this entire trip was the hot tub is at the northern lights lodge. Surprisingly it was rarely occupied we barely had to wait except for one time we may be waited 20 minutes for a group to leave because it's a pretty small hot tub and we were four people trying to go together The hot tub is also open from 8 AM to 10 PM great for a pre-post ski session. There is also a sauna and indoor pool and an outdoor pool. The outdoor pool was not open for the winter obviously. The rooms were spacious and cozy. Definitely looking forward to make a trip back. Oh, and the ski shuttle to Stowe resort is across the street

Parking was plentiful. Check in was easy, straight forward, ZERO hassles, service with a smile. Hotel is old school ski lodge, which, is totally awesome by me. This is a get away, let's go back in time when things mattered not just "Cash or Charge". Rooms are very very clean, very comfortable, heat works great and it's pretty cold and windy outside. Yea, I can dig this place. Nice, old school, charm. I will stay here more often. Breakfast and indoor pool available, I'm just here to ski. Give a five because it not the 4 seasons and it doesn't pretend to be. Family owned, small business, right on! Support your local business!!

We headed downstairs to the bar lounge where we'd be having dinner. Brenda, our server and bartender, was super sweet and helpful. I got a glühwein to warm up and my dining partner got a hot toddy cider with I think Fireball (because it tasted like when I make it that way). We ordered the cheeseburger and fried chicken sandwiches and split them so we could each try them. Both were fantastic. The copious side of fries were perfectly cooked and crispy; the chicken was flavorful, perfectly crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. The cheeseburger was absolutely perfect. We decided to forgo a dessert, but they had a couple appetizing choices. Both Brenda and the gentleman who ran out our food were super welcoming and hospitable. The ambience is very charming. Yes, as others have said, the decor is a bit retro, but it was very clean and tidy. I can imagine what a spectacular venue it had to be in the 70s. It's still a pretty cool place today. It's now high on my list for après ski.

As someone who has worked in the hospitality industry for years I know the night shift is hard and he really was hospitable. The server working breakfast was also amazing both days! We order breakfast to go as we had a dog and enjoyed it out on the Adirondack chairs. The room, was very fun! A little outdated but it's Vermont! It had a certain chair that I loved. The building is beautiful with the original wood and trees. All of the little nooks and fireplaces are so fun and cozy. We did have a dog and felt very safe and comfortable and wanted there which was huge. The backyard was a perfect spot for our pup to run and play before we headed to the mountain. They do put all the dogs in one section on one separate floor so if you don't have a dog they aren't around you wish is nice. The breakfast was amazing! So amazing we got it both days. Highly highly suggest the breakfast sandwich and the hash brown. We got it to go as we were getting ready to ski and had a dog. Service at breakfast was great. Dinner was also very good. We had the Fried Testa appetizer special and it was delicious... the sauce that went with it was absolutely amazing. I had the mushroom cavatelli. The menu is limited but different and delicious! Service at dinner was a little strange as our server switched to the bartender and we were told that the kitchen was closing pretty early. We sat for a 7pm reservation, it may also have been a covid related regulation. All in all... can't wait to go back again!
