This was not only my first time in Vermont, but my first time in a bed and breakfast and I was blown away!!! Not only is this the cutest storybook cottage with an amazing view (I recommend sitting outside in the hot tub in the evening), but the staff is so lovely and attentive to your every need. You can really tell that this is a family run business by how they treat their guests! And THE FOOD!! (The cinnamon buns and blackberry pancakes were my favorite) I cannot express enough how amazing all the food was. I would stay here again just for that alone. If you're looking to stay in Stowe this is a great location with 5-10 minute drives to everything (we could even walk to some nearby breweries) I will 1000% be coming here again! read more

Happy Holidays!!! Timberholm truly felt like home away from home. I got to relive my childhood all over again for 4 days. Waking up to yummy spells of breakfast in the air, sledding down the hill in the snow out back and making snow angels. Our entire stay was picturistic. We just love the Inn Keepers and her boys. My bf and I enjoyed our stay here! We only stayed for one night but slept comfortably in our cozy room. We also loved the common area with the fireplace. Ten minutes from Stowe and just minutes from coffee, restaurants, and breweries. I suggest bringing ear plugs if you are a light sleeper because the walls are thin and there may be early risers! We booked all the rooms for a small, informal wedding gathering of friends and family at the Timberholm. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and the common spaces were warm and welcoming. This place is amazing! If you're looking for a cozy retreat to get away in Stowe Vermont this is the place. Valerie the innkeeper is more than sweet! Her breakfasts are amazing and the accommodations couldn't be more comfortable. The huge fireplace and common area is a great place to meet new friends and the quiet and private rooms give you the privacy that you may be looking for. I came to Vermont on the large group trip and Valerie made sure that everyone in the group was well taken care of in all aspects. Timberholm was the perfect hub for our adventure. I was so excited to stay in a bed and breakfast in Vermont, and I'm so glad we chose the Timberholm Inn! We only stayed one night, and the other two nights we were camping, but if the day after we stayed wasn't already booked, we would have stayed two nights! I chose the Spruce room, because I loved how tiny and cozy it looked. It WAS really cozy; the beds were really comfortable and the sheets were so soft! I also liked the lamps & bookshelves. We were lucky that the night we stayed ended up getting pretty chilly for the first week of September, so we were able to go in the hot tub, yay!! (The rubber ducky and I quickly became friends.) The hot tub was on this little section of the back deck, and had really nice string lights all around. We really enjoyed the game/entertainment room downstairs and had fun playing with the bear and wolf checkers, and would have played scrabble or chess if we had more time... Sitting out on the deck at sunset was really nice, and I enjoyed the view of the mountains. I loved the oatmeal pancakes Tom made for breakfast, and enjoyed drinking coffee in the Timberholm Inn mugs. Oh, and the location of the B&B is on a really quiet road, but also close to everything going on in Waterbury and Stowe, which was great. I loved everything about my stay from the room to the breakfast. The inn is beautiful and Valerie is an amazing host. She made the stay so much better with her humor and hospitality. And she makes an awesome and delicious breakfast. The location is within close distance to restaurants, shops, and the mountain. Had a great one-night stay here in one of the two-bedroom suites as part of our New England leaf peeping tour. Would be a great place for a longer stay. The lodging wing of the house is a bit creaky, but that's what one expects. The common area is spacious and inviting. Breakfast is individually prepared as you arrive, and there were several options. Timberholm exceeded any and all expectations!! Having this be the first inn for me to stay at, Valarie has set the bar incredibly high!!! It's not too far from anything in the city, yet is an oasis of calm and beauty. Incredibly cozy, I could have sat by the fire in the common room all night. Yet, when I awoke, was greeted with stunning views from that same spot. Breakfast was Insta worthy with coffee so good, I had three cups. I cannot say enough good things about the Timberholm Inn. The Inn itself is charming and has such a lovely homey feel to it. Valerie was an amazing host, making sure to chat with you each time she saw you. The breakfast that was made for us each morning was fantastic and a great way to start the day. Added bonus each morning was getting to hang out with Lewis, the friendliest of dogs and a wonderful greeter. I spent some time just sitting in a chair on the lawn and taking in the views. It was so quiet and peaceful. The location of the inn was near a bunch of places to grab a beer or enjoy some of the local food. The room was a little small but that was very clear according to the website and really was just what we needed. It was my first time in Vermont and staying here just made the trip that much better. Timberholm Inn will certainly be on the list of places that I will return to again and again. read more

Just 3 nights ago, my husband and I decided to take a last minute mini vacation to Stowe We researched our options online, and we found a GREAT deal at Timberholm!! We arrived and met Tom who was super friendly. He showed up around, gave us a mini-tour, and told us the basics. We're staying in the Cedar Room, which is a really cute little room perfect for those looking for comfort, convenience, low cost, and high quality. It's small, but they're very upfront about that in the description. I mean, honestly if you're coming to Stowe to be touristy and whatnot, you won't spend much time in your room anyway, so what's the point of paying too much money for a larger one, right? :) I love the cozy home feel of the room, and OMG the bed is SOOO comfy. I don't think I've slept this well in MONTHS! Breakfast this morning was serving by Tom and was delicious! We had a fruit parfait, chocolate chip banana muffins, a ham and cheese frittata, and breakfast potatoes. It exceeded my expectations, as I've been used to the traditional hotel continental breakfasts in the big chain hotels. Each room has an area guide that gives you information on great things to do. The owners Tom & Susan really went above and beyond in preparing the information. Just reading it makes us want to stay longer so we can get to do all these cool activities! The main area of the house has a great library, computer set up (free), and board games. In fact, we stayed up pretty late tonight playing Trivial Pursuit while enjoying a bottle of wine. Downstairs in the lounge there's a tv with movies, a shuffleboard set, a snack area, and a hot tub. (The hot tub is currently being repaired, but I'm sure will reopen soon.) The yard is beautiful. Unfortunately we didn't get to spend much time outside today. (We were gone hiking to Camel's Hump), but hopefully we'll get some time tomorrow before we leave. I keep reading about their doggy Sophie on their website. I hope to meet her too! All in all this is a great place to come. I highly recommend it. In fact, I think we'll be going skiing this winter, and this will be number one on our list for a place to stay! read more

This was our first time staying at a B&B and overall the experience was absolutely wonderful. The room we stayed in was very quaint, clean, and offered beautiful views of the mountain. We stayed in the Buttercup Suite which is right next to the opening of the main living/dining room. My only complaint of this location is we stayed the weekend of a wedding and many of the people who were staying were part of the wedding. So when they came home late at night, they made a lot of noise closing and opening the doors and going up/down stairs. The house is old and noise does travel. Regardless of that, the owners of the Inn were extremely nice and warm. Rosie the dog was also a real treat and friend :) The breakfasts were also on point! By far one of the best French Toast meals I've had in a very long time. Food and coffee were fresh both mornings. We enjoyed drinking our morning coffee on the outside deck early before breakfast was ready. We also took advantage of the down stairs TV room to watch college football, drink wine, and eat pizza from Piecasso's. The Inn is also set back to keep the privacy factor very nice but close to the downtown Stowe and Waterbury areas. Overall, would definitely come back and stay probably in an upstairs room to avoid the noise level. read more

I've stayed at several bed and breakfast over the past several years and this is by far the nicest and comfortable one I've stayed at. It's a unique B & B where the rooms are Inn or small hotel style as they are separate from the living area. Tom and his breakfasts are amazing and the place really feels warm and welcoming. Hot tub was great, rooms clean and comfortable. Big beautiful fireplace that you never want to leave. I'd strongly recommend this B & B to anyone staying in the Stowe area. It's a real gem and has some interesting history as one of the original ski resorts in the Stowe area. read more

Great little inn tucked away off to the side. T.H. and I stayed here for a weekend at Stowe. The mountain is about 15 minutes or so away and along the way you can rent gear and avoid the lines at the mountain. The rooms were cozy and the bathrooms appeared recently re-done. The bed itself was comfortable. The common areas were rustic in nature but that is what you'd expect from a place like this. The owner, Valerie, was super nice and accomodating and made quite the delicious breakfast on both days. We, unfortunately, opted out on our second day as our friends had an AirBnB down the road and were planning on making a delightful spread. Would definitely stay here again. read more

We had a wonderful stay at the Timberholm Inn around Christmas time. Valerie was so accommodating. She offered us recommendations for local activities, assisted with lift passes and equipment, and breakfast was delicious. There are fireplaces in the living room and basement rec room to enjoy after a day of skiing. The outdoor hot tub was a great perk after a day on the slopes. The inn itself has a wonderful view. As other reviews have stated, this Inn is a little slice of relaxation heaven. It is spotless, well-located, and I double-dog dare you not to fall in love with the city of Stowe. (Spoiler Alert: you will fall head over heels and there is nothing you can do about it.) The rooms vary in size, so you can choose what fits your needs. There is a nice sitting area, a wonderful view, and the owners do all they can to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. I was extremely impressed with the breakfast. At some point in his life, Tom must have heard the phrase "a way to a person's heart is through their stomach", and boy, did he take it to heart. I myself am often limited by my gluten-free dietary needs (which are not by choice, I assure you). Usually, this means that while everyone is enjoying a nice stack of pancakes or some delicious french toast, I get the gluten-free option... i.e. a plate of fruit. Now don't get me wrong, I love fruit, but it's hard not to feel like you are missing out when you can smell the maple syrup and gluten goodness everyone else is getting to enjoy. I am extremely happy to say that there was none of that at Timberholm. In fact, for the first time in I don't know how long, I got to have exactly what everyone else was having. If they got pancakes, I did too... gluten-free and delicious. If they got toast, you bet I got the gf version. That may seem small to some, but when you feel left out most of the time, it is amazing to find a place that takes that into consideration. Believe me when I tell you, it made all of the difference. As for Stowe itself, if you haven't gone there yet, I highly recommend it. It has plenty of restaurant options, beautiful hiking and bicycling options, and nearby vineyards and distilleries. Oh, and did I mention that the Ben and Jerry's factory 20 minutes away? Trust me, this is a trip worth taking and I very much look forward to doing so again. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed for one night on the last stretch of our vacation. We stayed in a very small room, but it was good enough for one night. It was a fairly inexpensive stay, given that we arrived off-season. The bed was comfy, although a little dusty if you look at the back of the headboard (I just happened to notice while trying to plug my charger). The bathroom was clean, but also a little old and it had a particular odor - not exactly bad, but something I just noticed. The common rooms were awesome! We were definitely able to disconnect, chill, and relax. They had plenty of board games and books. They also have a hot tub! We spent half an our or so just soaking there, and it was great. Breakfast by Tom was excellent. We had fruit parfait, chocolate scones, and ?quiche and home fries/potatoes. Yum! If you stay here, you have to meet Sophie! She is soooo lovable. I liked the way the innkeeper Valerie took care of the guests, she gave us a lot of information about the area and told us about nice places to visit. 2. The breakfast was good and it wasn't the buffet style, Valerie took our orders and served us within 5-10 minutes. Coffee was good. 3. In the evening we were sitting in front of the fireplace in the living room, it was warm and cozy. We brought our booze and were drinking and enjoying the company of other guests. Disliked · It's strictly personal, maybe for others it's not a big deal at all, so it's my personal opinion: 1. The location is in no walking distance to anything, it's in the woods and you have to drive to the bars, restaurants, stores, etc. I prefer to have a drink or two or three during the dinner and then walk back to the hotel instead of driving. 2. I booked this place because it stated that the pets were not allowed and I am allergic to cats and dogs. To my surprise, I found a big black owner's labradoodle or something running around the living room and the kitchen and breakfast areas. He was playing around the breakfast table while we ate and even though it was only about 30-40 minutes that I was around the dog every morning it was enough for me to sneeze the whole rest of the day. He was not in the living room in the evening, though, so I could comfortably spend the evening by the fireplace. If you are allergic to dogs - keep this in mind. 3. All rooms are different in size. We got room number 1 on the first floor and I think it was the smallest room in the building. It would be OK for one person but for two it was extremely small. The door to the bathroom did not close completely, which made staying in the room a bit inconvenient. So, if you are not alone, avoid room 1 on the first floor. 4. No noise isolation, we could hear people above walking, talking, etc. It actually woke us up in the morning, which was not that bad since it was breakfast time anyway. But we could hear what people were talking about. read more

If you call a 17 and 20 year old young children he may be right but this merely sound like a cover up for their bad management. My aquiantences husband just applauded me for having found such a great place (they had gone this season and we had told them for location and price it is a good deal which I now regret when I read owners nasty accusations). He commented on a fantastic location, great prices and rude innkeeper (believe it was the wife), so if several guests think she is rude and unwelcoming.......hmmmm Surprised yelp allows owners to soil reviewers with slander - well if they have time to write up such accusations perhaps the place is not doing as well as he claims..... read more

We had booked a three night stay at the inn and had to shorten our stay to one. The innkeeper Tom was very understanding and did not charge us for the last minute change. Not only that but when we arrived he had upgraded us to a larger room. The room was neat and clean, the rest of the inn was very cozy and comfortable. Tom prepared a wonderful breakfast that we enjoyed and he left us with a big " I hope you come back soon" that was very nice of him and we will be back. read more

This B&B was a dream! Right off Mountain road, so very close to restaurants, activities etc. We arrived around 7:30pm and was pleased to find out that our room had been upgraded to a suite! The beds are very comfortable! The breakfast is amazing. Something different every day, with lots of variety. The afternoon treats were also something we looked forward too! Tom always offered up ideas of things to do in the area and gave restaurant suggestions. There are also board games, chess etc to use. We took advantage of staying up late one night, enjoying some beers while playing games and reading. I cannot recommend this Inn enough; everything was perfect. My wife and I checked in on a Wednesday around 5 PM and were greeted by Tom (the innkeeper) and given a tour of the property. Our room was cold but quickly warmed up. It was small but comfortable and very clean. The bed was very good. The public rooms are excellent and we really enjoyed our time in front of the large living room fireplace. I really wanted to give this place the full five stars! But there was just a couple shortcomings that kept me from doing that. One- the walls are way too thin. Even just slightly raised voices are heard clear as day through the wall. We were awoken at 8:30 am by a couple bickering in the room next door which was a kind of crappy way to wake up. I also wish there was more options for breakfast. Both days I wasn't keen on the sole hot food choice so I ended up with some yogurt fruit and granola which was great but just not enough. Other than that the place is like a dream. It has a shabby chic rustic feel that made me feel really cozy and at home. Valerie was an amazing host who made us feel very comfortable from the moment we walked through the door. She was constantly checking on us to make sure we were happy and eager to give us recommendations on places to go and things to do. read more

This was my first time at a Bed & Breakfast and I definitely did it right with Timberholm Inn. I booked through Airbnb. The Inn is located just off the beaten path in Stowe. It's close enough for you to walk to a nearby brewery and only a few minutes drive from downtown with many restaurant options. However, it's also secluded enough for it to be extremely quiet at night. They have about 9 rooms and all of them are very different. We stayed in the smallest room which honestly was quite small! It was also the cheapest room and next time I stay there, I would splurge a few extra bucks to stay in a larger room. I know that they have a variety of room options including some rooms that are quite large. They have a fully furnished basement with a TV, snacks, and water all night long in addition to many movies, board games, and foosball. There is even a hot tube outside. I'd love to come here in the winter and sit by the fire. My breakfast was an amazing gourmet three course breakfast with yogurt, fruit, scones, pancakes, and sausage. I loved the local tea from the Vermont Tea Company and the unlimited apple cider. Tom and Susan are amazing and really make you feel welcome. You sit at a large table for breakfast but the other guests staying there were extremely nice and friendly. I really loved our stay here and wish we stayed for longer! read more

We recently spent 2 days in the Timberholm Inn during the Vermont leaf season. We were welcomed by Tom, our congenial host, who was very welcoming and friendly. We got the full house tour upon our arrival -an outstanding common room for all the guests, with a wonderful view out over the expansive lawn area and the wooded valley and hills beyond. The Inn has a very large outside deck - we sat out there after dark on a warm and starry evening, finishing up the bottle of wine which we had bought for dinner at a local restaurant. A lovely spot. The Inn is very comfortable, with very adequate size, simple but clean bedrooms, each with its private bathroom. All the rooms are very quiet, as there is very little traffic nearby. Tom cooks up a really excellent breakfast each morning, served in the comfortable common room area. The breakfast menu was different each day - and each one was outstanding. The Timberholm Inn is located off the main road on a very quiet street, but it's only a few minutes' drive to the center of Stowe, and is also conveniently located to the ski areas..
