Greg & Willie (one of our witnesses :) ) were absolutely amazing, so gracious, and helped to make our day 100% perfect. They love what they do and that is so evident in their hospitality. Their property and lodge is everything you'd hope it would be for a VT mountain escape. We now have a 17 year old daughter and getting back to show her the beauty of not only VT but the lodge itself is high on my list of places to take her. We've been waiting until the perfect age to bring her out and it looks like 2021 (thx for nothing Covid) will be the year. You will not be disappointed by choosing this place for an amazing vacation or wedding. The property and Innkeepers will make your dream vacation that much more amazing. Greg and Willie are so gracious and welcoming and they make you feel right at home. The grounds are stunning and the interior brings in the perfect lodge vibe. I was a bit disappointed the first morning when I saw a continental breakfast laid out. It looked good though with fantastic granola, fruit, smoothies, and juice. But when I sat down, a full, made-to-order breakfast was also offered. The only mistake I made was in not taking a picture of the huge waffle covered with sliced strawberries and whipped cream. I think the morning manager Allie was responsible for the menu. But this isn't all. We chatted with the other managers and got suggestions about where to eat dinner and what to do. And there was more to do right at the inn. A bar is open every night if there are customers. A fellow living in the neighborhood stopped at the bar one night, and we got even more information from him. There's plenty of parking. Dozens of restaurants and shops are within a block or two, so if you are too tired to drive somewhere, such as Stowe, there are a number of good choices for dinner with a short walk. The room and the parlor/lobby make you feel it's the 19th century. A jigsaw puzzle was on the coffee table and being slowly put together by guests. Kids were playing with the many toys and games there too. And all the other guests seemed to appreciate the Old Stagecoach Inn as much as we did, giving it a community feel. The only cautions are there is no elevator in part of the inn and there was no TV in our large room. However, since we felt we were in a 19th century, Victorian house, a TV would have been out of place. They said they may add a TV, but like us, they were worried that it would look odd with all the antiques. And yes the main building dates to 1820 and a stagecoach inn, but it was later turned into a mansion and even late extra rooms were added. When we toured the Shelburne Museum, a docent at the Vermont inn building said he had helped convert the house to an inn years ago and remembered the beautiful woodwork in some of the rooms.

Flights were canceled or delayed, and even the airline sent automatic refund offers for safety reasons. Every other small business involved in our trip, four hotels, Airbnbs, our Turo car rental, and the airlines, provided full refunds or credits. The Old Stagecoach Inn was the only one that refused to offer any flexibility, citing that severe weather is a "foreseeable" risk and that I should have purchased trip insurance. I understand small businesses rely on reservations, but the response from management felt unnecessarilyj rigid and dismissive, especially compared to the empathy shown by other small, family owned Vermont inns. Given how the situation was handled, I would not stay here or recommend it to others. P.S. We don't think extreme weather is "foreseeable" since we had been checking the weather up to a week prior.

With only one other room on that floor, we rarely ran into the other guests, until breakfast. After just one night, I already felt at home that before leaving, I checked out the other two options and fell in love with the Mountain View King for next time.

Stuff was all over the hallways, our room was incredibly dusty, windows were filthy, and there were ladybugs all over. The owner tried telling us they are all over VT inns at this time of year. This is simply not the case. To pay $442 for one night was highway robbery. If we could have found another place to stay on short notice, we would have. There wasn't even a key to lock our room. We left as soon as possible before breakfast.

Cons: very loud room as they allow the patrons for the restaurant to use the main entrance so people line up outside your door early and talk very loud. They have two other restaurant entrances and the owners really should make the patrons use that entrance vs the main entrance. So plan on it being loud from 0730 AM to after 1200pm. Yelp has a 20% discount if you check in on the app for 2 nights or more. The coupon is outdated and the owners never responded to my inquiry. The coupon should be taken down as I didn't see how it could be redeemed anyway since you must pay in full 14 days prior to your stay and the hotel is self check in. (Knuckle bite)- oh and then the upstairs private bedroom and sitting room...just outstanding. The constant rush of the river was very soothing. Felt very relaxed and comfortable using the deck, towels, drying rack, coffee maker, and bug spray available. Notes: beautiful natural paths (uneven stones, careful), and gorgeous hand made wooden steps (hold hand rail) from deck to main house. Swimming on site is an unforgettable experience! With a living room w/EIK and a bedroom. It's a close drive to Waterbury and Burlington as well as a few major ski lodges. Upsides: It really does have a home-y feel and you have a lot of space to move around on. There's WI-FI. Truly lovely worksmanship on the cabin. A cute town named Richmond is nearby for your daily needs. Downside: It's up a mountain that's not paved. During a heavy winter or mud season is becomes a tad hard to reach. Worth the trip up, slightly scary coming down if your not a local.

The owners are very nice and kindly and made us feel at home. The studio was probably about the size of our place in Boston. It had a fully-stocked kitchen with a stove, oven, dishwasher, and full-sized fridge. The bathroom was spacious and had a romantic claw-foot tub. The living area had a phone (important because there was no AT&T cell reception!), flat panel tv, dvd player, and cd player/speakers. I spent most of my time at the bench dining table. The queen-sized bed was very soft, and creaky. A great selection of books sat in the in-wall shelving, including The Perfect Storm. It was lovely to escape the city stressors and spend a quiet weekend relaxing. They rent out space for weddings, too, for anyone looking for an outdoor venue. We hiked along the trails around the area. It was very rainy the previous week so we couldn't do Camel's Hump as planned. Parts of the trail were very muddy and there were bugs everywhere. I got some wicked bad bug bites pre-DEET application. Now I know black flies bite. Also, beware the neighbor-son's dog. The owners' dog Elsa is a sweetie, but the neighbor-son's dog will attack.
