We decided to travel to Vermont last minute for New Year's Eve. We booked the Moose Meadow Lodge on the drive up. We were welcomed with open arms. Greg showed us around the property, the lobby shop, brought us to our room and explained all the unique and exciting details of the house and property. We woke up each morning to a beautifully prepared breakfast. Since our trip was so last minute, we didn't have much of a plan. Greg was kind enough to sit down with us and help us map out our entire journey. He even helped us map an alternate route home that was more scenic. We didn't get to everything on the list, but everything he mentioned was perfect. You can tell he has a genuine love and passion for what he does. His advice and planning alone made the experience excellent. I can go on and on about the perfect stay we had. You can tell Greg and Willie are very passionate about what they do. You will never experience this kind of attention and care at a hotel. We are already planning our next stay here.

Flights were canceled or delayed, and even the airline sent automatic refund offers for safety reasons. Every other small business involved in our trip, four hotels, Airbnbs, our Turo car rental, and the airlines, provided full refunds or credits. The Old Stagecoach Inn was the only one that refused to offer any flexibility, citing that severe weather is a "foreseeable" risk and that I should have purchased trip insurance. I understand small businesses rely on reservations, but the response from management felt unnecessarilyj rigid and dismissive, especially compared to the empathy shown by other small, family owned Vermont inns. Given how the situation was handled, I would not stay here or recommend it to others. P.S. We don't think extreme weather is "foreseeable" since we had been checking the weather up to a week prior.

With only one other room on that floor, we rarely ran into the other guests, until breakfast. Breakfast started with a yogurt parfait, followed by French Toast and bacon with delicious local Morse Farm syrup that I loved so much, I went to pick up some to bring home. After just one night, I already felt at home that before leaving, I checked out the other two options and fell in love with the Mountain View King for next time.

Stuff was all over the hallways, our room was incredibly dusty, windows were filthy, and there were ladybugs all over. The owner tried telling us they are all over VT inns at this time of year. This is simply not the case. To pay $442 for one night was highway robbery. If we could have found another place to stay on short notice, we would have. There wasn't even a key to lock our room. We left as soon as possible before breakfast.

Cons: very loud room as they allow the patrons for the restaurant to use the main entrance so people line up outside your door early and talk very loud. They have two other restaurant entrances and the owners really should make the patrons use that entrance vs the main entrance. So plan on it being loud from 0730 AM to after 1200pm. Yelp has a 20% discount if you check in on the app for 2 nights or more. The coupon is outdated and the owners never responded to my inquiry. The coupon should be taken down as I didn't see how it could be redeemed anyway since you must pay in full 14 days prior to your stay and the hotel is self check in. Overall, a lovely stay minus the noisy room.

Pictures can't evoke the energy in this place: the scented wood and stone entryway; the warm tones and lighted walls and creaky planks of the main living room and bar; the authentic STEEP climb to the upstairs (shared) bathroom-with teak tub! (Knuckle bite)- oh and then the upstairs private bedroom and sitting room...just outstanding. The constant rush of the river was very soothing. Felt very relaxed and comfortable using the deck, towels, drying rack, coffee maker, and bug spray available. Notes: beautiful natural paths (uneven stones, careful), and gorgeous hand made wooden steps (hold hand rail) from deck to main house. Swimming on site is an unforgettable experience! But not for the faint of heart, or those with vertigo...very steep steps (excellent solid rope hand rail), then an almost vertical ladder of 5-6 steps. Wow! Totally worth it! With a living room w/EIK and a bedroom. It's a close drive to Waterbury and Burlington as well as a few major ski lodges. Upsides: It really does have a home-y feel and you have a lot of space to move around on. There's WI-FI. Truly lovely worksmanship on the cabin. A cute town named Richmond is nearby for your daily needs. Downside: It's up a mountain that's not paved. During a heavy winter or mud season is becomes a tad hard to reach. Worth the trip up, slightly scary coming down if your not a local.

It had a fully-stocked kitchen with a stove, oven, dishwasher, and full-sized fridge. The bathroom was spacious and had a romantic claw-foot tub. The living area had a phone (important because there was no AT&T cell reception!), flat panel tv, dvd player, and cd player/speakers. I spent most of my time at the bench dining table. The queen-sized bed was very soft, and creaky. A great selection of books sat in the in-wall shelving, including The Perfect Storm. It was lovely to escape the city stressors and spend a quiet weekend relaxing. They rent out space for weddings, too, for anyone looking for an outdoor venue. We hiked along the trails around the area. It was very rainy the previous week so we couldn't do Camel's Hump as planned. Parts of the trail were very muddy and there were bugs everywhere. I got some wicked bad bug bites pre-DEET application. Now I know black flies bite. Also, beware the neighbor-son's dog. The owners' dog Elsa is a sweetie, but the neighbor-son's dog will attack.
