The best veal chop I've ever eaten! Love the ambiance downstairs in the bar and the waitstaff is wonderful as is the chef! Kudos Kevin!

Place is great. Just discovered it last ski season before the pandemic. Can't wait to visit next week and try the outdoor dining.

Karen & Mick are the most wonderful innkeepers and keep the space warm and inviting at all times. Karen also happens to make the best breakfast scones (fig and vanilla! cheddar and chive!) in the morning that are served warm, freshly baked, with butter and jam. We particularly love how it is dog friendly, too!

Where do I even begin? Every single thing about this place is incredible…read more Breakfasts: nothing short of astonishing. Prepare to have your day begin with a thoughtfully-curated, multi-course selection of delicious food. Breakfast starts off with a fresh scone (the vanilla Fig ones were our favorite) and then a creative fruit plate of sorts, and, finally, the showstopper (puff pancakes with maple bacon, breakfast cubanos to name a few). Starting your day off with these elaborate breakfasts is truly such a treat. The location: Incredible. Tons of restaurants (we loved Peasant), amazing breweries (Lawsons!), scenic hikes (can snowshoe from the property), skiing and more! There is even a farm with pigs / cows/ tractors 2 minutes from the property that our toddler son went absolutely bananas for. The property: Magical. Hard to describe the serenity that the property espouses. It is truly magic. The main Inn is so cozy with a roaring fire every morning and night, amazing guests to chat with and cookies to enjoy by the fire after a long day of skiing / snow-shoeing / drinking beer - whatever floats your boat. There is also an incredible hot tub and cozy robes to take advantage of. The Innkeepers, Mick and Karen: no words can describe how amazing they are. There is a reason why every other review mentions them -- they are warm, caring and make you feel so incredibly welcome in their place. You feel as though you are staying with your family at the most amazing, cozy place you could possibly imagine. It is clear they care deeply about their guests and go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. They cater to your particular interests/ needs and really do go above and beyond for their guests. Every little touch this place offers makes for a truly incredible experience. To summarize - DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STAY HERE !!! This place does amazing things to your soul.

From an abundance of tea options to daily fresh cookies to some wonderful recommendations, we were comfortable from the start of our stay to the end. "I need a place to rest my weary bones" what is nearby? So very thankful I was near the Mad River Inn B&B!! My requirements were simple-a bed, a pillow and sleep...I'm gone early am was the plan. Then I met The innkeepers/my hosts. From the moment I entered the home I truly felt cared for! By far the best stay I've had anywhere in this world (I travel a lot). Beautiful place, lots of charm, love the antiques! Lovely rooms! The tea and coffee stations were superb...I'm a diehard coffee drinker but the tea station (selections and dainty china teacups) hooked me. The yummy homemade cookies, ice water, snacks and sodas were such lovely touches! The books, history, information, touristy flyers etc WOW! Curl up by a fireplace or fire pit, sink into a chair, kick off your shoes (oops, right they were already off and left at the door!) revised that early escape plan .....I did not want to leave! Breakfast was beyond amazing and delicious (omelet-eye rolling fresh gooey cheese, and fresh fruit.) The other guests were mostly returning guest or friend of someone who had stayed here. Friendliest people ever! Felt very at home with this entire way too short stay. The total kicker for me was when I returned home....took 425 leaf peeping and Vermont photos and the only ones I truly loved and felt were spectacular were taken in the back yard of the Mad River Tavern!!! Loved this so much that I am Seriously rethinking my February birthday trip NH and my usual place (15 years)....it was that wonderful of a stay at the Mad River Inn. Already referred two coworkers here.

It's a gorgeous place full of warm creative people who both love and appreciate nature and good living, and I have to say that out of all of the times I've been and the places I've stayed, this has been my absolute favorite. Carin & Luke are amazing hosts. They know a lot about the area and if you're looking for recommendations and suggestions about activities, they can point you in the right direction. Hikes, wineries, resorts, festivals, craft fairs, etc. etc. But if you're looking for a quiet getaway, they're not pushy. There's coffee in the morning and a delicious breakfast and their breathtaking property to take in. Mountains and trees and a large pond that you can swim or boat in. The water is clear and refreshing! The accommodations themselves are modern and cozy, bright and spacious, and the rooms are very comfortable. (It's nice to hop into a nice, modern hot shower with good water pressure after a dip in the pond!) While I'd like to keep this to myself, I know that there are city dwellers who are desperately in need of a rejuvenating vacation, and so this is your place! It's a great place to stay local (swim, hike, read books, play games, etc) or use as a home base to do other things in the area. I've stayed at a hotel in Sugarbush and found this B&B to be much more relaxing. Hosted by locals and away from tourists and kitsch, I truly felt immersed in the Vermont experience here! I will definitely stay here again.
