Absolutely beautiful rooms! Right at the bottom of the access road! We booked a small room last minute and it was cozy and pretty- got an upgrade after we got into our room to a super modern yet rustic room which we just loved. The owners are super nice and we look forward to staying anytime we are at sugarbush!

Comfy bed, warm blankets, own thermostat(left) (notice there is no hook to the right of thermostat after sat night there was one)

Stayed here for V-day weekend 2016, the rooms are all new and upgraded, however I believe they still are under construction. Rooms/bathroom are small but comfortable. Can be a little noisy since you can hear everything outside(people passing by) but nothing major. One thing I did not appreciate was that we had the DO NOT DISTURB sign on our door because there is NO SAFE inside the room, however someone did come in our room and installed a new hook while we were gone. I know because 1 the hook was not there, and 2 there were debris on the floor & inside my suitcase from where they installed the hook. I figured if you just totally violated my do not disturb sign you could've at least clean up my room? But nope. Otherwise it needs a night stand and a coffee machine would be nice, and definitely a safe to put your belongings.

We arrived on Friday morning prior to check in time, and the staff got us situated in the cozy front common room with a roaring fire and yummy cappuccinos. When it was time to check in, a nice man offered to start a fire for us in the wood burning stove in our room. And he did it multiple times throughout our stay. Everyone throughout the weekend was so wonderful, but we specifically remember Mehnaz and Amelie. They work hard, bring positive energy, and do it all with a smile. The food was also excellent. We had dinner at both restaurants and really enjoyed each experience. The breakfast was also top notch and I wish I could replicate the bacon they serve. Overall, 20/10 stars... we cannot wait to come back! Getting married this fall in Waitsfield and planning on spending the night after our wedding at the Pitcher Inn. Highly recommend!

Dinner started with an anchovy amuse-bouche that had a nice savory taste. They even offered a free glass of champagne for my birthday. The grilled octopus was nice and light, and the cauliflower was okay with the dish. It was a smaller potion, but left room for the remaining courses. The tagliatelle was cooked well and the tomatoes and mushrooms added nicely to the dish. This was a nice sized portion, and definitely filling. The chocolate raspberry tart was more on the chocolatey side. Maybe my least favorite course from those I had, but nonetheless still good. The check came with petit four which was a nice touch. My waiter, Sergiu, was delightful and made me feel welcome the entire time. I really enjoyed my dinner here and would look to return.

At $40/person/night, this was an unbeatable deal. The private apt can house five or even six (if two people share a full bed). The apartment was perfect for us. The beds were really comfortable, and the kitchen was great for breakfast in the morning before hitting the slopes, and the washer/dryer helped to dry wet gloves. There was a large flatscreen tv and comfortable living room (shared with the other hotel guests, but we never saw anyone using it) and also a really great outdoor hottub that we used everyday. Sugarbush is a mile away (and there's a bus stop across the street from the lodge). On the ground floor of the lodge is crowded tavern with great live music, and a foosball table. Sometimes the music would be audible from the room, but it was never a huge problem. Alex took good care of us and made great suggestions on things to do/eat in the area. He was also nice enough to let us checkout in the late afternoon (which meant we could shower before our long drive home on our last day of skiing). Besides our private apt upstairs, the other rooms of the lodge are small and bare and hostel-like. Check the website for pictures of those. You wouldn't call this place luxurious per se, but for a group of young people it's perfect -- really comfortable and affordable and got the job done. Highly recommended.

Things to know about Slidebrook: 1) Crowd is mixed at the bar, but often includes rowdy young 20-somethings staying at the hotel. Shenanigans often ensue, but there are always folks of all ages here. 2) The space itself is pretty freaking small, but I love this about it. Super intimate, great skibar layout. They cram the band in the corner and make it work. Awesome acoustics is a bonus. 3) The bartenders (little Jenny and big Jenny) are the shit. They are the PERFECT bartenders - a mix of super fun and inappropriate with a hint of "will smack a brotha down if he gets out of hand". Really great and hilarious people. 4) The bands are always sick. Dancing ensues. 5) There is a hottub upstairs that you can just go use. It is infamous and often full of drunk kids from New Jersey. But hey, you only live once. Highly recommend this place, just ignore whatever the 21 year olds are doing and go with a group of friends. We always end up staying way later than intended.

When you first arrive Peter and Susan give you the tour of both your room and the house. That's when you meet Smoky and Snowball, their beautiful cats. The house and the gardens are expansive and welcoming, as are the hosts. There is a bar with beer and wine and Peter is happy to serve you Scothes and liqueurs from the Craich in the evenings. (Everything is added to your bill at the end so no need for cash.) We stayed in the Garden Room, with its own entrance. It was very comfortable and made up for us every day with a little tidbit of Vermont history laid on the pillows every night. It was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was amazing! Susan is a superb cook and made a three course breakfast every morning that included dessert! You won't go hungry at West Hill! She even made up a huge carb load for the marathoners the night before and an early morning breakfast (5 am!) for the marathon runners. My husband took advantage of the breakfast so he could get off early on a hike. I waited until a civilized hour. The gardens are huge! They own the property on both sides of the road so there are multiple ponds, fountains, gazebos, chairs, and a comfy hammock! They even provided a fire pit and ingredients for S'mores. What fun! We spent one afternoon reading and napping in the gazebo in the upper garden. It was bliss. Pater and Susan are great innkeepers. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and so excited to share their home. We met some wonderful people and they encouraged conversation. It was like a family for those few days. TIPS: The cats do not go in the rooms, however if you are severely allergic you may not want to stay here. Definitely let them know if you have any food preferences or allergies--they are very knowledgeable and accommodating of dietary needs! They are not kidding when they say to let them know if you want reservations at a local restaurant--they will call and make them for you. I can't recommend them highly enough! We are definitely returning.

We got there early so it wasn't very crowded yet. Started out with the beet and arugula salad and some dry rub buffalo wings. The wings were really well done, nice and crispy and tasty, although the rub is a little too salty. The salad was good but pretty small considering the price you pay for it. Also was light on dressing could have used more. I would not order it again because I'm just not going to pay that much for just a few leaves and about three slices of pear. Will you order cocktails which were pretty good except for the jalapeno Citrus one picture. I don't think it was made badly, it's just the flavors don't really gel well and I wouldn't recommend getting it. The whiskey based cocktails were pretty good. For entrees we ordered the chimichurri chicken sandwich, old school chicken, and salmon. All of that food was very good, with the salmon being the standout. If you get the chimichurri chicken sandwich ask for extra chimichurri sauce. There's a decent amount on there but I liked a little more. The fries that came with the sandwich were nicely crispy and tasty. I would definitely go back here because the only real disappointment was the salad and the other items were quite tasty
