Old Mill Restaurant is one part of the Old Mill plaza (including things like the general store, the creamery, etc). The Restaurant is up a gangway overlooking a duck-filled river! The food was pretty good - the sides of mashed potatoes, beans, corn fritters, and corn chowder were standard with all the entrees. I had the catfish, which was generously portioned and the old mill breading was cracking (though you occasionally ran into a solid piece of batter). The corn chowder was not super attractive (but who can blame the appearance of chowder) and it is tasty if you like it on the pepper-y side. After many trips to Pigeon Forge, we decided to finally try the Old Mill - and it did not disappoint! If you are looking for classic Southern fare, look no further. We ordered the chicken and dumplings and the vegetable plate. Most meals come with a starter of (amazing!) corn fritters and a salad, so the price ends up being a great deal. They only have the Igloo Dining in winter months. It is SO FUN, IT IS A MUST 90 minute dining experience to try! Especially WITH KIDS or ADULTS (great girls nite) or on DATE NIGHT (lighting very romantic)! I'm pretty sure the igloos are all decorated differently, I've been twice and decor was different each time, they are heated, ours had a fireplace & heater so it was warm & very cozy. The food is from the POTTERY HOUSE CAFE and still AMAZING!!! They do keep it TIMED, 90 MINS, so don't be late! We were late once, got stuck in traffic, ran 20 mins late, so we only got to spend a little over an hour in our igloo since they were so busy. But it was still GREAT! I can't say enough great things about The Old Mill, it's been a family favorite of ours for over 25+years, when it was originally the CORNFLOUR! Amazing restaurant! Food was very tasty and delicious! Their portions are large and you get a sample of orange juice with your meal as well as banana muffins that was a pretty cool treat! The first thing right off the bat was that the hostess didn't ask if everyone in our party would be okay going up the stairs. My mom does have a hard time getting around but by the time I could say anything the hostess was onto the next group of people waiting as it was getting busy. The waiter wasn't super friendly while we asked questions regarding the menu. It's two-story restaurant the bathrooms are impeccably clean the way it goes by fast. There's a lot of shopping around. We order the prime rib, slow roasted 12 ounce and the country fried steak with white gravy, the mashed potatoes and gravy the green beans come in a bowl and you share all the food was amazing when you first sit down, they serve you corn chowder, which I've never had before was out of this world and then they bring you corn biscuits or nuggets they're sweet and they bring you fresh butter. They're amazing. I could've eat the whole basket by myself, but I shared the steak was super tender. It has a very delicious coat on it and the white gravy, which I usually do not like it tasted very good. You also get dessert. We got our desserts to go and at this point we haven't eaten them, but we got chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and peach cobbler. I'll look beautiful. Best restaurant on our family vacation. We loved our dinner so much, we returned for breakfast the next morning. They have an awesome system, from the seating (kept wait times to a minimum), to the multiple courses and shared sides, the reasonable prices, to the ever-attentive and welcoming servers. We loved the chicken and dumplings, the fried chicken, and the meatloaf. The endless corn fritters were one of the best things we have ever eaten, no joke. We wanted to come back for corn fritters and coffee for breakfast (unfortunately not possible, they don't serve fritters until 11AM). Everyone was served salad and corn chowder, and the green beans (with chunks of ham) and mashed potatoes were bottomless and delicious! The sweet tea was also bottomless. The cobbler was great, and the banana pudding even better. Rumor has it (as reported by the server), they sell out of the banana pudding early in the evening, so don't wait too late for dinner if you want to taste that treat. P.S. Firstly let me say that our service was phenomenal, our server was super nice. It was a particularly busy day but we were seated shortly. Very rustic ambiance and they give you banana muffins and orange juice as a starter which isn't common in breakfast restaurants so my kids were thoroughly impressed. Only the orange slices tasted a little funky. All entreés include a complimentary single serving of orange juice and warm, home-baked Old Mill banana nut muffins. The banana nut muffin was good, and I like how they are bite size. For lunch, we were recommended the Country Fried Boneless Pork Chops, and Spicy Catfish. All southern style specialties come with a cup of our signature Corn Chowder, corn fritters, homemade mashed potatoes, and green beans. Both entrees were good, but the highlight for me was the corn chowder. I was contemplating whether I should order an additional bowl! The soup was savory creamy, combining corn kernels, onions, potatoes, and bell peppers. Their portion sizes are generous, prices are fair, and service was very attentive. I have a little social anxiety, so it pains me a little to have to get staff attention or wait a long time. Running down the list of entrees ordered: Chicken Legs - were tasty but some of them (6 on a plate) were overcooked Prime Rib - brought out and it was dry and was sent back and the next one was good. The table behind us also sent their's back as well. Chicken tenders - those are pretty much infallible Sides - green beans were good, mashed potatoes were dry. Baked potato was done well, the salad dressings were all good. Desserts- pecan pie and blueberry cobbler were very good The server was good, but he appeared to be rushed in his mood. We got seated upstairs and our waitress was at the table almost immediately taking drink orders. She then brought out some banana muffins that were delicious. So light and fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness. I could of made that my meal. I ordered The Old Mill Country Breakfast. The menu said small pancakes which i interpreted as small stack of pancakes. NOPE they were a stack of little bitty pancakes. They were good though. Great flavor with a little fluff to them. The eggs i ordered over easy and they were cooked great. Grits after adding some pepper and hot sauce they were pretty decent too. The gravy was nice a creamy and the potatoes were crispy. The bacon crispy but was super salty. The wife got The Old Mill Pancake breakfast. Now that was a stack of pancakes. And they were light and fluffy and so good to eat. Overall it was a great meal.
