We went to Old Irving with some friends on a Saturday night. It was by their house and a place they frequent. We got there without a reservation and had about a 25 minute wait to be seated. There isn't really any place to wait and bar top was all taken, so we had to go outside. Luckily, it wasn't that cold outside. There is a lively vibe when you walk in. It was very busy, but the decor and ambiance was very modern. It seemed well maintained. When you first walk-in, everything seems really tight, but across the way there is way more open seating which made us very comfortable. Old Irving is considered a brewery, but I opted to get the Moscow mule. It was strong! They definitely don't jip you. For my entree, I ordered the brisket tacos which were delicious! The brisket was tender and the flavor was bold. There was definitely a little kick to it, but if I can handle it anyone can handle it. They give you a good amount of meat, so I felt very satisfied. My husband got the sour beer, so I was able to try some. It was tart and refreshing which is why I prefer ciders and sour beers. It was very tasty. Our waiter was extremely friendly and attentive. Overall, we enjoyed our experience here from the lively atmosphere to the delicious food to the good service. I can see why this was our friends' standard bar. read more

Was in the area and was looking for a place for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We walked in and the hostess greeted us, but was not overly friendly or nice. We sat at a table and waited at least 10 minutes before a server arrived. I think we finally were acknowledged because he sensed me looking impatient. We ordered drinks and our food. My husband ordered cheese curds, brisket tacos and I had the grilled chicken with garlic parmesan rub. The curds were crispy and good. The grilled chicken was very spicy and not what I expected. Finally checked out this place and lemme tell ya - the hype is worth it! Cool vibes, nice staff, and great beers & food. - cushy mango beer: this was one of the best sour beers I've ever had. It was juicy, the mango & peach flavors popped in my mouth, and it was insanely drinkable. *I didn't try any other beers but everyone seemed happy with their choices. - cheese curds: delicious! They had the bubbly, light breading rather than the dense, thick breading some places use. - cheeseburger: also delicious (pro tip - upgrade your side of fries to the garlic fries because they are perfection!!!) - Brussels sprouts: not very good. I have decided to give this place a star back because the food has made a bounceback to greatness. I guess there was a little bit of a Covid Lag going on because they are firing on all cylinders yet again. I am especially in love with their new chicken sandwich with Mole BBQ. I have gone here a couple of times this month for dinner and "snacks" with friends. I got wings both times and they were absolutely excellent. Wasn't a huge fan of the Krampus BBQ, but that BBQ Mole is the real deal! I brought a friend in because he wanted some cheese curds. Loved them, but he also got the pretzels with beer cheese. He thought the beer cheese was the best dip he has ever had! While this was never in doubt, their beers are still top quality and the real stars of the show. Beezer and Krampus are two very different brews, but I think their strongest showings. While I thought they were starting to lose their footing on being perfect, I was wrong. I met some friends here for drinks and dinner. I liked the brewery although there were far too many children, too many crying babies. However, I have been to louder and more obnoxious restaurants. The service here was good. I enjoyed the atmosphere despite the kids. The beer menu contains too many IPAs in my opinion. But there are still a couple of good options. I ordered the Kolsch (Della) and had a few of those. I would order it again: smooth, crisp, no unpleasant aftertaste. When I come here next, I want to try the Goat Destroyer. The food was not as good. I ordered the fish and chips. These tasted okay, but should be more accurately described as frozen fried fish sticks. The fish resembles fish cylinders more than the fish fillets that should be used for fish and chips. read more

Fun atmosphere and crowded! It must be good if there is a crowd, right? We arrived without a reservation and were told the wait was one hour. We ordered a beer at the bar and within 15 minutes 2 bar stools opened. The Red Ale was very good. The cheese curds were excellent. They had a crisp crust and a spicy dipping sauce. We'll definitely be back but will be better prepared with a reservation or maybe visit on a week night. Parking was hard to find too. read more

Love the atmosphere of this place! Very hipster! Fun, clean, great service and food. Tried their IPAs and really enjoyed them. Wish they had a beer flight but they do not. The food was delicious. We started off with the loaded fries and I really enjoyed them. 8.5/10 I ordered the Valentina hot chicken sandwich which came out nice and hot. The bun was warm, soft and buttered. The chicken was juicy. Only downfall, I couldn't taste the Valentina Sauce. 8/10 The side of garlic fries were good but not really garlicky. 3/10 We also ordered the Tokyo Hot Chicken Sandwich. It was pretty good. Could have been spicier. It wasn't as flavorful as the Valentina sandwich. 7.5/10 Overall I liked the place and the food. read more

Beers are all great! Food came out pretty quick. Despite some recipe errors with our order. They were quick enough to replace our orders with a fresh one. Umami wings had a great flavor but was way too spicy. If they tone down the spice. I'd highly recommend! The Asian meat balls was a little bit too sweet for me and the rice was undercooked. Ambiance is great! A family kid-friendly neighborhood bar with great food, awesome and very patient staff front of the houses staff and accommodating to our requests back of the house. Fun place for some incredible beers and some okay food at this brewery that's better than it looks. It has a lot to choose from and on top of that it's a cool place to hang out. Old Irving is one of the breweries in this area which is getting more attention as it gets better in these improving parts. Just a quick walk from the Montrose station, making it easy to get to without a car. The prices are pretty good on beer and food. Came here recently after hearing about it from those who knew much about the local breweries. It's one of a few in this area that get overlooked. The Old Irving Park area isn't as much of a happening place as others, but it's getting more attention than it was. After getting seats at the bar, we got some beers and picked some food. It's $7 a pint. The best beer was The Void. It's a blue corn lager. Something I never heard of. Apparently it's good. This is a high quality pilsner with a touch of Vienna. It's made with blue corn and butterfly pea shoots, strangely enough. This is also a collaboration with the New York band Black Satellite. Guys know beer. The food is nothing to forget about either. We got the Caulafel, which is cauliflower made to be like falafel, and was as good as it looked. It's about $9 for a plate of balls. These come with a vegan remoulade. Crispy like the actual falafel. These are the vegan friendly item it seems. Good beer. It's also better than expected food. This is easy to get to from the Montrose station, so be environmentally friendly and get here by train. read more

Everything about this brewery is absolute gold from knowledgeable staff to the upmost respect towards its customers. The moment we were seated our server took our drink orders. This was my first time visiting and I found the QR menu to be classy and ahead of its time (it was my first time seeing such a menu). Immediately I was feeling overwhelmed from such a large selection so the server took the wheel and asked what type of beer I enjoyed most, and from there we agreed on a flight of sour ales I would be interested in. All three beers hit the spot! For starters my buddy and I went with the cheese curds and I've never eaten anything so delicious; not to mention the chipotle-type sauce that accompanied it. My main entree was the Valentina Spicy Chicken Sandwich served with a side of garlic fries, and it was the most scrumptious sandwich I've eaten in a long time. Every now and then the server came over to check up on us while educating us on the upcoming seasonal beers being released. He went so far as to offer a sample of one of the chocolate imperial stouts that is highly popular and I thought this simple action was going above and beyond for any establishment promoting their selections to retain customer satisfaction and future returns. The building itself looks very modern and sophisticated as any brewery with an encircling bar in the middle complete with large TVs overhead. Out of curiosity, My friend and I Decided to check this local brewery near my apartment. It's after 9pm all we can order is something to drink .They don't serve foods or anything to munch in after 9pm. The place is nice , staff are friendly and accommodating. Neat and clean . I wish they have at least chips or fries or peanut to serve after 9pm . It would be nice having finger foods while having your beer or wine or rum or whatever you're drinking. That's my opinion! We all have different taste or like but roasted peanuts or any kind of chips is good when you have drinks. Of course, I'll visit this place again when I have time! read more

Funky gastro pub type vibes. Wasn't that busy when I visited, but had a nice selection of Kraft beers.

They make one of my favorite hazy ipa's in the city "Old Beezer" and have many other great offerings. The space is very nice with a decent sized bar, they have a dining side too and there's a good amount of tv's. They do a nice burger, beer and shot special (I believe on mondays). They also experiment with different wing flavors (I think every month). Overall I enjoy coming here for some drinks or food or both. read more

I'm usually a fan of funky beers, so while Old Irving has more of the traditional brew with a twist, MAN the food here is outstanding!! The term they use here as "brewery" is actually SO MUCH MORE. It was a late Saturday afternoon and so the place was very chill. There's a large bar area split off another section off space with lots of barrel aged stuff happening on the other side. Waiters were filling sippy cups of water for the kiddos which was a nice touch. The actual brewery is tucked in the back where you can see pallets of cans stacked high. Beer review - tried 2 of their brews. Cushy Berry, a fruited sour strawberry/raspberry combo which was actually quite easy to drink and not really tart which I prefer. On the other spectrum, Trail Buddies, a dark, sweet, chocolatey nutty, stout. It was a dense, so just a small glass was plenty enough. Food review (my fav) - ZLTA a fried zucchini sandwich with a good portion of garlic fries. This was a really good and satisfying sando. Perfectly fried, lots of layers of lettuce, avocado, fried zucchini, on what appears to be a solid sourdough bread - crispy and delicious! The garlic fries had a crispy coating with a soft center. Both items were excellent and well portioned. Easy to share with 2 people! Roasted brussel sprouts are deep fried and covered in a sweet cherry fresno glaze. It's offset with strips of pickled raw butternut squash and topped with a crumbles of soft, creamy, not "too" goaty goat cheese. I was surprised how well the cheese and sprouts played together. Overall, I was amazed at the execution and quality of food. It's also got an impressive menu, so I definitely recommend it as a food spot. I totally missed that they have a full bar, so if beer is not your thing, they make cocktails and serve wine too. Area is street parking, just be aware of some of the side street restricted permit parking. Service is pretty stellar and looks like they were well staffed. read more

A gem of the Old Irving Park neighborhood. Steps from the highway and the Montrose Blue Line CTA station, this brewery boasts high ceilings and wooden barrels for their beers on display next to their indoor seating with big windows that open to provide fresh air for the main dining area. You feel connected to the brewery and process by seeing the packaging and bottling, but even more so with the lovely staff providing you with beer suggestions for your meal. Service is quick and efficient! Food is great! I recommend the Spanish octopus, pictured below. Not a bad choice here. I don't even know how big OIB is, because we're creatures of habit who sit at the bar, but man, I can see how this place gets busy. I know some people don't like when breweries do food, because they feel when the food is good, the quality of the beer suffers and vice versa. Not the case here, and this is one of the spots I often see recommended to people from out of town looking for food/beer recommendations, so I know I'm not in the minority here. First, the staff is so incredibly kind and welcoming, even when they get noticeably busy. I met the brewer at an event and he was one of the nicest guys there, which is when we were like "we need to make it a point to go check them out!" Then, it took us awhile, because it's not close. Anyhow, the bar itself is huge, and I love the bench along the wall with (basically) giant bean bags to lean against if you're sitting there. No pillows that will fall, no hard wall. The creativity with some of the things here is what stood out. This is easily a spot I could see myself spending more time at than planned, especially with a group of people. They're right off the expressway, easy street parking and a pretty decent menu. There's always a rotating burger and wing of the week, and there are options for non-beer drinkers, too! I know, another thing people who love craft frown upon, but I think it's nice they have these options since we often are with friends who can no longer drink beer, or just don't like it. The food is good. The crispy garlic fries are on point! The wings are huge. If you look on their site, you can see where their food is sourced, which is pretty damn local. Mostly IL, but I think a few things are from WI, MI and IN. One of my favorite things about Greenbush is their food and part of that is because everything there is local and fresh, and I've come to realize that can actually make a huge difference in food. Deep Thoughts was the name of the beer we had. It's a double IPA and it proved to be rewarding! This beer has a dry hop flavor along with tropical and citrus flavors in it as well. I've sat at the bar when I wasn't drinking and just ate snacks while the bartenders came by to refill my waters and came to see if the wings they served-which are awesome by the way were ok. I've sat in the dining room and had a late dinner there with a couple of their stouts, which were ok but the hot chicken sandwich and the key lime pie were decent and the service was good, although I've never been there when it was super busy, always been able to sit at the bar or get seated immediately. While there's nothing wrong with table service, there's something about sitting at the bar eating their terrific wings-seriously so good, some of their pork rinds and a sour of theirs and relaxing. Came here to celebrate New Year's Eve and it was better than I had expected. They have a white selection of beers and if you are not a beer drinker, they have ciders and other mixed drinks as well. They have games for those who want to play while drinking and eating which was different from other bar places I've been to. The waiters were all nice and kept checking up on our table. The food was delicious and I liked how they had Asian fusion foods. I had the Kolsh beer and the IPA, they have 3 sizes of 5oz, 10oz, and 16oz which is really convenient if you want to try some beers without getting a flight. The Valentino chicken wings and fries were great, I asked for mayonnaise for the fries and they said they only had an aioli which was also great. We actually ended up dipping some fries in the leftover sauce too. My friend ordered the Tokyo Hot Chicken Sandwich and I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, which both came extremely saucy and not what you would expect from a traditional hot chicken sandwich. Together with the cole slaw, they were very wet sandwiches. Would recommend getting the slaw on the side if you're going to order either of them. read more

The Reuben that I ordered was fantastic, and the side salad (small upcharge at $1) was simply the best I've ever had: THE CARROTS ACTUALLY TASTED LIKE CARROT GRATED THAT DAY! The beer was great, the service was great, but that side salad....go for the side salad...my husband had the burger and said it was wonderful, and I had a few of his garlic fries which were tasty.
