Always a good meal to be had. Pulled pork sliders, fish 'n chips, cheeseburger... can't go wrong!

I like the vibe here. Outdoor seating is prime. It gets busy so just expect a wait. Great great great beer selection. Delicious bar food. I highly recommend the curry dipping sauce, unreal. There regular fries are way better than the sweet potato fries. Amazing guinness pour for the area. Will probs keep coming back for a guinness and fries with curry sauce treat

Friends and I had a large party hangout here and it was nice! It's pretty spacious inside and they also serve food. There were a few moscow mule options and their espresso martini wasn't too bad! Service is also quick!

I was craving a burger on a sunny Saturday afternoon and wanted to enjoy some nice weather. I had heard of Gideon Welles through various local places and decided to give it a try. I was immediately seated outside because their patio is DOG FRIENDLY! :) The patio was quite large and had a nice view of the park across the street. The area was fairly quiet and not noisy on the street. The service was quick and they even brought my dog water with ice cubes (her favorite). I decided to have a beer with my burger and went with the Begyle Blonde. Good size and good value. I also built my own burger since you could choose 3 toppings and was surprised with how big the bacon pieces were. Admittedly, I was a bit sad with the avocado, it was two thin slices and you'd be better off getting guacamole instead if you choose that topping. I also went with white cheddar and liked that cheese. The fries were really good, too! I liked the onion ring on top. Overall, a great place to spend a sunny Saturday. The prices were fair, service was quick, and food was very good. I'll definitely be back!

This place has the best Irish curry and Guinness. The curry is like the one you would find in Ireland. I highly recommend the chicken quesadilla. It's stuffed with grilled chicken and the verde is quite spicy. Bartenders and staff are all great.

    Taco Tuesday! YUM

We truly enjoyed the 2 for $7 Taco Tuesday special. Onion rings and French onion soup sealed the deal. Beer was cold and refreshing. Our attentive server made us feel welcome, and we certainly hope to go back to enjoy more of what Gideon Welles has to offer!

I really enjoyed my time here this servers were really great and their service was very on point. The ambience is a whole Nother conversation. It's very and family style restaurant. It was very nicely decorated for the holidays as well. The food was nothing sort of excellent it tangled my taste buds dare I say and not fucking pretzel Let's just say I'll be having dreams about it.

Shepherds pie with burnt mashed potatoes $ cheese! You can see the ridges of burnt mashed potatoes in the picture!

It was my first time coming here and I had anticipated ordering the shepherds pie... When the waiter brought it out, I immediately noticed a burnt smell... Then I could see it, the mashed potatoes and cheese on top were pretty burnt. I should've sent it back for a redo, but I swallowed my pride and dug in anyway. After a few fork fulls of the burnt mashed potatoes & cheese I couldn't take it anymore because it was baked to the point where all you taste is char so I pushed them off to the side... What was underneath was a delicious shepherds pie filling that was not burnt but was hot, very rich and tasty. If I do decide to come back here and try the shepherds pie again, I would definitely mention to the waitstaff... PLEASE Don't over bake it .

A typical sports bar. Good beer list But from there.... It goes downhill! Ordered a flatbread that came burnt black all over, and sadly tasted the best. The artichoke dip tasted like oil & was freezing cold. The burger had no seasoning. And the chicken quesadilla was cold & beyond bland tasting. Oh and the extra dirty gin martini... NO clue what they made it with but it was gross whatever it was. All the guns on their list I've had and enjoy so it wasn't that. It didn't even taste like olives. So NO clue. We wanted so much to like this place, but after extra slow service, too loud TVs blaring in all Directions, and the disgusting off tasting food & drinks - we will not be back, and def won't recommend this place to anyone except to say... go somewhere else & save your $$$.

It took awhile for the one waiter to come to us. We could also see only one cook in the kitchen. Took exactly an hour to get our food. Fries are also nothing special. Hushpuppies were also nothing special. Big pass on this place for the lack of staffing which effected wait time and for the food to being nothing worthwhile.

I chose the 7 layer salad as the picture from the owner looks beautiful, it is really 7 layers!! The actual dish is nothing like that! It is just a regular mixed salad dish. We asked the server, she denied that this is a dish from this restaurant, while I showed her the picture shows from business owner and the address match... While I understand that the picture might be outdated sometimes from customers, but if the photo is from the owner, you probably should update it if you changed the dish!! Then there is the service. The restaurant is empty when we showed up. We thought it might because it is 2pm already so lunch crowed is gone. The server tried to sit us on a corner while there are so many nice seats there. We requested a more comfortable seating. After a disappointing meal, then we waited for a long time to get our bill as the server was in a different room doing something herself. We had to go grab her. She dropped off bill, then she disappeared again. We had to once again to get up to find her... with just one customer on the house, I can't imagine how busy she is for paying no attention to her customer. I will never come here again for sure!

Shout out to him for doing the damn thing. Although I would like to mention it was I who named it and claimed it for myself way back in 2001 after a visit to the city for a college conference. However me and my bestie couldn't figure out how to make it happen on a 20,000 labor organizer salary lmao. So we remain on the east coast while my swagger jacking little brother paints the Windy City red. Anyway because he's so in love with this city and knows its in and outs, I often send him dubious "influencer content" of recent transplants that act like just because THEY just Columbus'd a new spot it must be new to EVERYONE. And the recommendations are often awful and likely paid for (extorted). It sends him into a rage which again - we love. My fave kind of terrible content to send him is Top 10 burger spots in Chicago. The lists are often wrong, outdated, and criminally under seasoned. Every once in a while though there is a fleeting moment of alignment and Little Bad Wolf is it. This truly may be the best burger in Chicago. Food: -Wolf burger - egg fried HARD for me -Bad burger - add egg for my brother -Bad burger - as is for my mom -crab cakes - for SIL -mashed potato- for the toddler -Brussels sprouts for the table The patties were well seasoned and melted in my mouth. I adore crispy onion straws. Beer was crisp and refreshing. Service was outstanding Perfect vibe on a midday Monday Bench and chair seating for all bodies. 100% worth the hype! The menu description is also a good way to annoy your loved ones. See pics for my friend's visceral reaction lmaooo

We ordered the venison burger and, honestly, I was hesitant at first because I was worried it might be too gamey. However, our server did a great job explaining what to expect, and she was absolutely right. The venison patty was juicy, flavorful, and exceeded my expectations. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was attentive and efficient throughout our meal. They also have an impressive selection of signature cocktails. I didn't end up trying one because the drink I was interested in sounded a bit too strong for lunch, but it's definitely given me a reason to come back later for drinks. After we sat down, our server took her sweet time getting to us and was largely absent the entire visit while the servers for the others tables were attentive and present as I've come to expect. We started with the Crispy Brussels and Burrata Toast which was an amazing and fun combination of flavors textures with the sherry glaze and pickled onions providing a perfect counter to the richness of the cheese. Our second course was the Gage Caesar which we've had before and have enjoyed sharing multiple times, but this time the lettuce was full of grit as if the prep chef did not even bother washing the lettuce. The server never came by to check on us so I had to wave the manager to complain about the salad. The server also never checked to see if we wanted refills on our cocktails so we placed our orders with the manager. The final dish was the venison burger which was perfectly cooked and seasoned if you like venison, which I do so we enjoyed that greatly. The condiments that came with it were perfectly matched to balance the game of the meat and the fries were perfect as usual! The server then FINALLY got more involved with our dinner and was predictably perky and present at the end, something that always irks me when they have been otherwise absent for the meal. The ONLY reason they are getting 3 stars instead of less for this visit was the flavor of the food and the response of the manager in dealing with the lack of service (and the gritty salad). I would give the initial server a zero if I could.

Made last minute reservations for brunch next day after the infamous architecture tour. It was quiet as we've put in an early morning. All the more better to savor all intricate dishes from start to finish. Like the name, The Purple Pig, their specialty is pork dishes so majority of our orders were this. Daily special of the bone marrow bacon jam toast - glazed, slippery off the bone, savory and sweet. Always love a good bone marrow dish to get the sweetness off it. This was so good that there were bits of the marrow and jam left stuck to the bone, I took a piece of the toast and scooped the bone dry. Nothing left for anyone to attack this. Non pork dishes were the Mushroom 3 ways and Spanish octopus. Mushroom dish was savory with all the coated sauces elevating this. Spanish octopus was kicked lightly and easily can bite in to enjoy the tender and charred portions. But the award went to my main course - the braised pork shoulder with saffron, apricots and Swiss chard. Aside from the rippable pork meat when dining on it, the sauces fused together on this dish elevated it and had everyone coming back for more. I needed an official Chicago culinary experience and found it at The Purple Pig without a doubt.

My favorite of the night was the rose tteokbokki. The tteokbokki was perfectly chewy and I enjoyed the flavor of the sauce. The popcorn chicken was also good and paired well with the sauce it came with. The bossam was on the dry side and the seafood pancake was pretty standard.
