I love it here. The bartenders are great and the layout is really nice. There's a bar area (bar and high tops) and a dining area (lower height tables). The menu is really varied and the food quality is great. I really liked the chicharrones and the Nashville Hot Chicken. Beer selection isn't amazing but they've got about 10 types. I'm not a fan of bitter beers, so I'd prefer a different selection of types but every brewery is different. If you like IPAs, it's the majority of menu. They've got an AMAZING white stout (in limited availability) called Cinnamon Prost Crunch (hee hee)! Please brew more! read more

Great attentive hostesses. Walking in early on a Saturday around 5pm somehow I didn't expect the place to be packed already. The bar was busy! We had a big group of adults and children, 13 total. But they were able to accommodate, just had to wait about 40mins. The sitting space is spacious and the tables are great for big groups. The ambience is loud and perfect for families as there is nothing to worry about with kids talking loudly. Though our group was pretty quiet glued to the multiple big screens on the walls. We ordered a bunch of shareables to eat for our meal. The pork rinds, bacon Mac and cheese, wings, mussels. The favorite of those was the mussels, a hearty serving of mussels definitely enough to make a meal out of it. The sauce was salty and flavorful, so perfect infused in the mussels and to dip the crostini in. The wings I didn't really enjoy, they were cooked decent but I felt they had too much sauce on top of them and they didn't have that crispiness you'd expect in wings. Nothing too special about them. The pork rinds were nice and cooked just right. Served alongside Valentine and a house made ranch sauce, also the same ranch sauce served with the wings- which I wished had a bit more variety. The patty is small on the single, so go for the double. Their fries are crispy. They offer flights and small pours to sample the beer. My lil guy loved them all. I kid I kid. Sorry no photos, I always dig in too fast to the awesome food at Old Irving! They do weekly specialty burgers, wings and Mac and cheese. Also salads, chicken sammies, tacos, appetizers, etc - something for everyone, even veggie entrees - try the fried zucchini, it's delicious. The beer is brewed on site and is one of Chicago's finest with a variety of styles - Kolsches, Lagers, IPAs, Stouts, Porters, Sours. Their Della Kolsch and Beezer Hazy IPA are nationally recognized (GABF). About half the time or more parking is very easy, right in front on Montrose. Otherwise there is somewhere to park within a block and it's a nice neighborhood. This is a good place to meet friends that live in other parts of the city or suburbs. Good place to eat and drink. Most breweries offer mediocre food but this place has a great combo. The beers were really good. They don't offer any dark beers (well at least not on my recent visit) so that slightly disappointing BUT their light options were really good. All the tasters we ordered were tasty but the mango/peach and vacation were my favs. Be prepared to eat. Their portions are no joke. In fact, I ordered a steak salad, but it was more like a steak with a side salad. All good for me! I love me some food! Don't forget to order the cheese curds! They are delish! We stayed near the Magnificent mile and took the L there. Was an easy hop from the red to the blue, stop at Montrose, then you just walk about five minutes out. This place is so nice!! It's much larger than I expected on the inside with a lot of natural lighting. They have game in the front that you can bring to your table to play with the people you come with. I went with two other people and we all really enjoyed the atmosphere and food. The food was GREAT. I had the pork skins, wings of the week, and fried zucchini to start off my meal. I loved them all. The fried zucchini was especially delicious. For my meal I had the burger of the week which was also delicious. It came with garlic fries. They were fantastic and really crunchy. I loved the ranch sauce they provided too. The waitress was really nice and gave suggestions. She frequently checked on us to make sure everything was okay. Im giving 4/5 stars because our food took a little long to come out for my liking and when it came out it wasn't piping hot. I normally don't like IPAs but the Galatic Thoughts is soooo good. I also enjoyed the All for One milk stout and the mango sour. The fries were AWESOME. They were all crispy and had great flavor. I loved the Po boy sandwich - the cod was very very crispy and the sauce was great. The only critique was the sandwich should've had more sauce, but our waiter was kind enough to bring me more after asking how the food was. Hubs enjoyed his burger also. The staff was nice and quick. Such a great brewery! We made reservations to try out some of the beers they have on draft. Both of the triple IPAs (Cosmic Kerfuffle and E. Nigma) were both great. My favorite brewery in Chicago. Definitely on my top five for burgers. Fantastic variety of beers, I love Della and Pretty Machine, but if you are not sure, the flight is always a really good idea. Old Irving Brewery is an excellent brewery located on Montrose just off the Kennedy Expressway (hint: easy on and off makes it easy to visit when driving pass). Though I'd appreciate more lighter beers, their beers and food are both delicious. The space is incredible. Old Irving has an industrial feel with the brick walls, concrete floors, exposed brewing equipment, gashed wooden bar top, and overhanging lights. The atmosphere, though, is very relaxed and fun with friendly service. The large rectangular bar with seating on all four sides makes it simple to get a seat at the bar. Lots of double dry-hopped beers, so I stuck with the kolsch and pilsner. Both were very good. As for the food, you cannot go wrong with their sandwiches. Looking forward to when I can travel to Chicago again, I will definitely be stopping at Old Irving. read more

This brewery is the bomb and has everything you can need. Great food, changes in menus, new beers every season. They are a staple in the area. If you haven't been here, you are missing out. I even stop on often and grab a four pack of their cans. Best news is they are opening up a second location in the west loop I think? Regardless, don't sleep on this place. I'm here eating in the restaurant at least 2-3 times a month and am stopping for beer at least 3x that. read more

Old Irving Brewing is a good time! I absolutely loved the brewery, loved some of the brews, their prices were awesome, service was great...all around a brewery I plan to hit up again soon. I'm a total beer chick and nothing makes me more happy than a delicious beer flight. Getting to try multiple flavors in one go is my idea of a good time. And their flight was $8 for 4 tasters, amazing deal. Total bliss for me. My favorite of the night was Liquid Jazz, a 6% milk stout that is a collaboration with Cruz Blanca Brewery served nitro with strong coffee and coconut notes. I'm not a coconut fan but when it's in beer, it's fantastic! I also tried Galactic Tangerine (8% double IPA - def my second favorite of the night!!!), Vegan Lumberjack (5.8% Brown Ale with Chinese Tea in it), Guten Abend (4.5% German Altbier), Ladybeer'd (lemony 5% pale ale), Beezer (my third fav of the night! 6.9% IPA with tons of fruity notes thanks to the citra & mosiac hops) and Scentinel (7% IPA). I had a fabulous time at Old Irving Brewing and am happy they're so close to home. I've already told some friends how much I loved the brewery and will most definitely be back. read more

On a short trip to Chicago to visit one of my best friends and his girlfriend, along with attending a little thing called Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo 2019, they brought me here for dinner and drinks after a short flight from Buffalo, NY and was very satisfied with the experience here. We arrived around 8pm-8:30pm on a Friday and saw this place was bustling. We put our names on a list for a table and proceeded to the bar for a round. The inside was pretty spacious with a bar area and separate dining room with the beer tanks in plain view. There were plenty of TVs showing all of the NCAA March Madness games and some music playing over the speakers, so the sound level was pretty appropriate for a bar/brewery/restaurant. I wanted to sip on a Chicago beer so I ordered the Lucky Linny (Irish Red Ale) and really enjoyed the flavor, but the real winner was the Mule Variation (Gose with Ginger and Lime). That tasted phenomenal and I wish I ordered that. But in any case, both drinks were very good. It was about 15 minutes or so after we got our drinks when we were seated at a communal table, which meant that it wasn't our own table and we'd have to share, which was totally fine with us. Our waiter was a friendly guy who gave is plenty of time to review the menu and answer questions. Now, my friends became Vegan over the past year due to dietary and health concerns (they look and feel fantastic btw), so they ordered the Impossible Burger, no cheese, with a side salad. I ended up ordering the Spicy Chicken Sandwich with a side salad. I'd say within about 15-20 minutes our meals arrived. My sandwich was pretty tasty! It had plenty of heat to it but it wasn't overwhelming. I really liked the Sriracha bun, it was very unique to the sandwich. The only real gripe I have was that I thought there was a little too much arugula. I mean, I already had a side salad so I could've done with a little less greens on the sandwich itself. The meal and beer were perfectly sized though, I walked away happy and full. Overall, I had a great time here. I would love to come back to try another sandwich and sip on a few more of their beers! read more

We love Old Irving Brewing! From where we live, OIB is a bit of a hike, so we don't get to get there very often. But we make it happen as often as possible because we absolutely love it! When we do go, we intentionally plan to get there on a Monday. This is because it is the $15 burger, beer, and bourbon special! What an incredible, and delicious, deal! The beer at OIB is top notch! I really enjoyed my Maibock and my partner loved his IPA. The bourbon was also a scrumptious treat! The burgers are some of the best in Chicago. We are BBB (burger beer bourbon) deal connoisseurs, and OIB is definitely one of our favorites due to the scrumptious burgers. You can choose between the OIB burger OR whatever is the special burger of the week. It is usually a difficult choice because they both sound good, but you can't go wrong either way. I particularly love the OIB burger because of its use of rosemary. YUM! But, what really sets them apart, are the fries. They are so crispy, flavorful, and hearty. I can't get enough of them! And I always get a side of the aioli for dipping and am in heaven! If you haven't been to OIB, I highly recommend it! And, if you can, go on a Monday for their BBB deal! Came here with some friends for the first time on a July evening. There is no AC they use rather they keep the garage doors which serve as windows open. It was quite humid and no breeze which made it uncomfortable. The bar area is large and busy with all sorts of people. The seating is rather utilitarian and archaic. You can view the brewery itself as well which is located in the back part of the space. Food menu is quite hipster in nature and disappointed that the chicharones came in a bag. Presentation is not their speciality. Food taste was par but serving sizes were quite small considering the price. Our waiter was super nice and accommodating. Beer selections here are varied and abundant so there is something is everyone. I would not come back as the city is saturated in breweries that have the same ambience and vibe. They are all fairly new and trying to make it so they need to do something to stand out from the crowd. read more

Nice spacious brewery on the north side of town. They brew their own beer and the bar food is pretty unique and some are quite tasty. Came here on my birthday weekend with about 6-8 people deep. Was told that the wait would be about 45 minutes. The bar and wait staff was very accommodating to me and the rest of my party while we were waiting. They made sure we had drinks in our hand while we waited and even got us into our seats after 20 minutes as a 6 seater opened up. The waiter that helped us said we can just add chairs when the rest of our party got there. Perfect. Love the open floor plan of the place, with exposed brick and loft style decor. There is even a game of bags available towards the back for you to play. The food/appetizers are a hit or miss. Love the garlic French fries, the fried zucchini was a bit too salty but still doable with the lemony zest. The wing of the week flavor at the time was perri perri - wasn't really a fan of it as the skin on the wings were a bit soggy for me. The beers are pretty good. I suggest getting the flight so that you can taste all the different flavors that they brew. Overall, a good place to chill without having to go all the way downtown. read more
