I was disappointed with their services. It's been less than a month and the ants are back. They charged me $175 to come out to my house and spend less than 10 minutes inspecting/spraying for ants. They provided no receipt and no paperwork. When I went out to leave this review, Yelp had placed a notice that this company was involved with suspicious review practices, where multiple reviews were issuing from one address. 6/24/24 Annapolis: I ended up using Old Bay Pest Control company. They had the best price and the fastest response time - same day. Elijah from Old Bay Pest Control showed up right on time. He examined the site from where the yellow jackets were coming and going. He discussed his approach to solving the problem of the yellow jacket infestation in the ground, under my on-grade deck boards, with me - not the easiest nest to get at; he listened to my concerns and revised his approach to suit my concerns. He had all the equipment and pesticides with him that he needed to eradicate the nest. He had his equipment ready within a few minutes and went about the work with attention to detail, getting the bulk of the pesticide between the boards in good quantity and in an enlarged area around the likely entrance to the nest to ensure the coverage would be adequate to eradicate the nest. Please do not let the great prices fool you. Ryan takes the low road to doing business. We hired him to trap a problem groundhog and he set traps and all was well. While there, my wife discussed with him a gable vent on the side of the home that was damaged. We had another that was replaced before by Trappro and she asked did that do that work. Of which he replied, yes. So, he quoted her at 150, which was bit less than what we paid before, so we decided to just let them replace it as to not have with a different vendor and give the combined business to Old Bay. Bad Decision! Ryan had not caught the groundhog and that was ok. That takes time so we didn't have an issue with that; however, in completing the vent work, Old Bay went and put up a BS piece of mesh over the current vent and didn't replace the vent at all. When my wife told him that wasn't her understanding, he tried to state he was clear in what he stated. I've attached the text and the shoddy piece of work for you to see! He angrily agreed to take the mesh down, but not to refund her the money. Of course, unsatisfied, she called me. I spoke with him and Ryan was rude, belligerent, and dismissive of me and the fair concerns that were raised about his lack of business integrity, so we canceled the entire deal. So, in essence, we paid $325 for NOTHING, and THAT will not stand! My course of action will be to report him to the BBB and I am also taking them to Small Claims Court. His conducting of business and lack of integrity is not worthy of a reputable customer service oriented business owner. He's all about himself without ANY business accountability. Ultimately, I cancelled my monthly spraying service and then was charged a $400 "warranty cancellation fee" (who's ever heard of such a fee??). I tired numerous times to contact the owner to resolve this issue and had also requested a copy of the contract which, presumably, would have covered the "warranty cancellation fee". We were hearing birds in one of our bathroom vents and realized the vent cover was missing. Ryan responded to our initial request very quickly and came out within two days to sort out the problem for us. He showed up on time, did the job quickly, and communicated well. He made sure there were no birds or nesting materials in the vent and out in a cover for us. He let us know to call him if we heard anything else and he would come back (since our vent was not fully visible, he could not 1000% confirm it was completely empty). If I could post six stars, I would! A groundhog had taken up residence under our neighbor's shed and was destroying my garden. After seeing him on our cameras while on vacation, climbing over our fence into my garden, I decided enough was enough and called a few places with no luck. We were in California on vacation, so I appreciated the option to text Ryan right from the webpage. He got back to me promptly, quoted a fair price, responded to all of my questions, and made a plan. He set up the trap immediately, checked it twice, and on the second day- success! When I got the picture of the groundhog I kid you not, I almost shed happy tears. When switched to Old Bay Pest Control in 2019 I would have rated Ryan 5 star, but our experience over the last 6 months has been terrible and includes someone at the company running over $29,000 of charges onto our Company AMEX card, even though we only authorized the monthly charges. (That is not a typo, $29,286.00). In digging deeper, we discovered the initial "test" charges that were merely duplicate charges within the same month, then a series of crazy charges through the year for thousands of dollars. AMEX is handling all the fraud issues, thankfully, but Ryan has been completely evasive in emails and texts - "I'm in the hospital w a family member and will review when I get home.....still dealing with this family issue and I will look at it" and is now completely unresponsive. Really disappointed and disgusted at how this has unfolded. Buyer beware! Looking at the Old Bay website all one sees are 5 star reviews and awards. Don't be fooled. On Yelp I am seeing a number of other 1 star reviews so am comforted that I am not alone. read more

We called several different pest control services and of all the business we spoke with we decided to go with Old Bay Pest Control and haven't regretted it for one moment. In some of our pst homes we used Terminex, Orkin and some of the other huge providers but with our new home coming to about 2 years old we thought it was about time to check out someone new. One initial quote we received was 3x what Ryan at Old Bay gave us. We initially only were interested in a single service visit however after they came out and were so kind and professional we signed up for their quarterly service. Terrible communication. We had OB come out for an ant issue, we signed up for the ant plan and mosquito plan. After the initial treatment the ants were subsiding, but quickly came back so we had them come out for another visit. Time went on and nothing was getting the issue fixed. Both me and my husband had called multiple times and texted asking Ryan to give us a call back so we can go another route. No answer or return call. I had emailed asking for our contracts to be sent, 6 days later I got a returned email stating he will email the contracts ASAP. It has now been over a month and I have not heard anything back. I was a happy customer until about 6 months ago when I felt communication and customer service significantly declined. First, they charged me $725 ("for the season") without telling me - the charge just showed up on my cc, no heads up. I was overcharged, too, and later got charged *again* for first treatment. I reached out to Ryan the owner, repeatedly, he apologized - "assistant got confused, things got busy," etc, but a refund just wouldn't go through somehow, so I agreed to keep the extra as credit on my account. Then their techs started to show up without notice (I used to get a text every time, and that was important to me). Then they missed a quarterly pest visit by a month. At that point I requested termination of services and a refund of remaining balance. Ryan got very defensive but agreed. After a *month* of multiple "refund didn't go through, idk", I got fed up and posted a negative review on Yelp. He texted me immediatelly and said that he won't issue refund until I take the review down. He accused me of lying, that I was a difficult customer, that our sanitation was sub par (our house is spotless), etc. For anyone who is interested - I have all of our correspondence as proof, in case he accuses me of lying again. Started working with the company 2 years ago when our previous company went out of business. Had an appointment, but there was no sign they had come. Called to see where the miscommunication was, but never got called back. Called again because I liked their prices and dreaded starting over with a new company and I really didn't think the company would turn down business, especially since I made it known I wanted a yearly contract. This continued over a 5 month period, to which I am now overdue with a preventative maintenance that I've had for 14 years since I bought the house. If I could leave negative 5 I would! Not only was the bird still in the dryer vent (after the "camera" was "used" to make sure) it died inside after the wall vent was supposedly closed with wire mesh. I had to remove the vent hose on the back of the dryer, remove the dead, rotting bird, and then climb up on my brand new ladder to fix the wall vent myself! Lesson learned! Provided excellent customer service, did a quality inspection, located and took care of the immediate problem. Made great suggestions on how to keep them from trying to get back in the house and all for a reasonable price. read more

Ryan scheduled confirmed and accepted an appointment with me on Friday 12/3/21 at 9:00 am, at 7:53 am I received text confirming date and time, at 9:37 am I received an email saying "sorry for the confusion but I meant to schedule for Sunday", i had already stayed home from work and was not sitting at computer waiting to see if I received an e-mail from him so I did not see until later that morning. The email also scheduled appointment for Sunday at 4:00 pm (weird day and time). I agreed and accepted this appointment. Received text at 2:57 pm confirming day and time (63 minutes before scheduled time), at 6:34 pm I received text saying I was no-show for our 5:30 pm appointment (not sure how appointment time went from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm after receiving text confirming 4 pm at 3:57. Then I received an e-mail saying I was charged $85 for being a no-show. I requested he reverse charge several times because after missing our Friday appointment I did not think he was coming and did not feel it was reasonable to wait until 6:20 pm for him to show up. I have surveillance video recorded of his arrival. He told me we had a confirmed appointment and he would not reverse charge. He says he has proof he changed time to 5:30, if he does it was after 3:57 so not sure how that helps me and I never received anything saying it was changed. He references the agreement signed, I was not provided a copy after I had electronically signed and he had not signed at that point so there is no agreement in force until I receive a fully executed agreement by both parties. I am not sure how a person thinks his time is more important than anyone else's and it is ok (he told me he apologized for missing Friday) and expected me to sit and wait for him on a Sunday evening? Not a good experience in customer service to say the least! I have surveillance videos, emails and text messages saved that go from start to finish. I am really uncertain how he thinks this is good business? He also claims the scheduled time is a "ballpark" time, but have not been given his definition of what a ballpark time is? read more
