Billy and I ended up at Oho Sushi Studio almost by accident after bailing on another dinner plan in Cerritos, and honestly, I'm glad it happened because this place has officially entered our regular rotation. What's funny is that we've both lived around Long Beach forever and somehow never fully connected with Oho despite hearing good things about it for years. We had randomly stopped in one afternoon recently thinking we'd just split a roll and head home, but the food ended up being so good that we kept ordering "one more thing" until we accidentally skipped dinner entirely later that night. That experience was good enough that when we found ourselves trying to figure out dinner again yesterday, Oho immediately came back into the conversation. We got there early evening and the timing was perfect. Busy enough to feel lively and like you were out for the night, but not so packed that service slowed down or the room became chaotic. The pacing of the meal was honestly one of the best parts. Dishes came out steadily without crowding the table, and everything felt very natural and relaxed. The tuna crispy rice was fantastic and a little different from the usual presentation. Perfect crisp on the outside, almost caramelized, with really airy spicy tuna on top that reminded me more of a tartare texture than the heavier versions you sometimes get elsewhere. We also had bluefin tuna, toro, salmon sashimi, a spicy scallop roll, and the Extreme Crunch Roll with light eel sauce, which ended up being surprisingly balanced and not over-the-top despite the name. Even the iced green tea stood out. Bright green, almost cloudy, super refreshing, and honestly exactly what I wanted with sushi. Service was excellent both visits. It felt very team-oriented behind the sushi bar and on the floor, which kept everything moving smoothly without feeling rushed. A couple practical notes: parking is easy overall, but the lot is shared with the motel, so just be mindful where you park and try to stay closer toward the restaurant side of the lot. Also, this feels much better suited for couples or small groups than large parties. Four people would be ideal. Six is probably pushing it unless the restaurant is unusually quiet. Really happy we gave this place another shot because it ended up being one of the more satisfying sushi dinners we've had in a while.
This place surprised me with the great quality at lower price range. There wasn't a thing I tried and didn't like. Well, maybe the quail egg shot. I mean it wasn't bad and I'd probably have one again but I wasn't ready for it LOL. Try it. The Happy Hour selection had a good variety so take advantage of it if you can. Service was good and everything came out in a reasonable amount of time. I recommend the baked mussels, salmon sushi, scallop sushi, yellowtail jalapeño, fresh wasabi, and anything with spicy tuna - although I wouldn't mind if the spicy tuna were spicier!
After a few visits, this may be my new favorite sushi spot! Happy Hour is a must-- you are not going to find better sushi deals. The fish is fresh, the flavors are amazing, and they have some fun fusion dishes. The staff are always kind and attentive, too!
Great staff always welcoming food AMAZING!!! I'm not much of a sushi person but my partner loves this spot she ordered the sexy girl and I actually loved it and it will be my new fav to get . I had the garlic rice and the orange chicken and I can say it's the best crunchy orange chicken I've had!!! Will be back tomorrow ;)
Haven't been here for a while and finally came back tonight and everything is just the same. Service as always is amazing, staff are very faintly and attentive. Out waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and offered us the specials in which we ended ordering which was the toro. Food: was delicious as usually, got the oho roll, chirashi bowl, tuna avocado roll and the ramen which was delicious!! Ambiance is very simple and cute. Had a few Japanese decor as well as a television to watch some shows or sports.
Such a hidden gem. This restaurant shared the same parking with the motel. Upon arriving, I didn't think much of it. We were greeted right away. We were told that it was their last call. However, when we sat down they allowed us to take our time and even let us ordered more than once. We really wanted their salmon skin salad, but they ran out. We got the fire cracker instead. This turned out to be one of my favs. The tuna was super fresh and yummy. It was so flavorful. The chip was crispy. Everything on that big crispy wonton chip blended so well. We also got the baked mushrooms. I was expecting it to be bigger, but it came with several pieces instead. It was super hot. It was also very good. The yellow jalapeño carpaccio was fresh as well. Each slice was not too thick nor too thin. The tangerine roll was surprisingly yummy. There was no seaweed. They used a very thin layer of something in the inside. Kind of look like soy paper but not sure. Service was amazing. The people there were nice and friendly. We mentioned that we liked the ginger. The male server brought out more for us. It was too much so we told him that we didn't need it. Very kind. I would love to return to try the other items. Thank you for an amazing experience.
Went here for the first time the underrated and off the radar really want to gatekeep it but wont! We got the fire cracker which was like spicy tuna poke nachos. Highly recommend! We also got the 12 piece sashimi sampler which was really flavorful. The staff was also really friendly and the vibe was great. we got some other rolls too and literally everything was perfect.
delicious food and amazing service!! found this place on Google Maps and was enticed with their high ratings. there is free parking which is nice. I ordered the combination plate with sashimi and it was so good, the sashimi was thick and had a yuzu flavor to it which was stellar!!! the rice was cooked perfectly and I loved the spicy tuna roll, the fish was so fresh. service was attentive and friendly! I will definitely come back.
Need to add more reviews for this sushi bar! It's my fav sushi bar to sit down on week days! I have been here so many times before! On dates, alone for happy hour, with group of friends and with group of family. It's my go to sushi bar. I like all the fresh quality seafood I get here. Sashimis are thick and fresh, the hand rolls are simple and addicting, rolls are tasty and fulfilling. I love to get hot sake when I go at the evening and cold beer at the noon time. Staffs are very friendly, and orders comes in with decent time. They can get busy during happy hour at lunch time. There's usually enough parking spots, but there's a couple street Parking spots as well. Happy Hour - current time is 3-6pm M-F.
Back again at OHO Sushi Studio for a quick happy hour bite with my girl and once again this spot does not miss We grabbed seats at the bar where our favorite sushi chef Sammy was behind the counter dishing up straight heat as usual. The man is consistent and that's a big part of why this place has become one of our go to spots in Long Beach. We kicked things off with quail egg shooters total umami bombs and a fun way to start the meal. From there we dove into salmon sashimi and salmon belly sashimi and both were exactly how you want them buttery, fresh, and melt in your mouth good. No fishy taste, just clean, rich flavor. For a hot bite we ordered the baked green mussels, which were a great appetizer savory, creamy, and perfect to share. Then it was roll time. We split a Double Tuna roll and the chef's special the "Sammy Delight" both were delicious as always. You can tell Sammy takes pride in his craft the flavor balance and textures on his creations always hit. We wrapped things up with a round of happy hour hand rolls, and every single one hit the spot Spicy Salmon, California, Salmon skin, and Tempura. All of them were tasty, fresh, and generously filled no skimpy rolls here even during happy hour. Service was friendly and efficient, and for the quality of fish you're getting, happy hour is a steal. Between the consistent food, the vibe at the bar, and Sammy doing his thing, this place has firmly earned its 5 stars from me. Already looking forward to the next visit.
I've been coming here for years and just thought to make a review, this place has NEVER let me down. My regular order is the Chicken Karrage, Animal Style Roll and Sunrise on 2nd. Sometimes I get sashimi or the spicy tuna on crispy rice or the firecracker tuna with the wonton chips. I've come here with just my husband and I or my whole family and the service is always amazing! Love the ambiance because it's a chill vibe and the play good music.
I had the most amazing experience here today! Tay, our waitress was absolutely incredible and so sweet! And Sammy!!!! Omg! He made everything to perfection! The detail and flavors were on point! Oho also has an amazing happy hour! So good that it actually pulls me away from going to an AYCE spot. Also, the sushi here tops any AYCE joint! Had an amazing time here today!
How did I never know about their happy hour! Mo day through Friday from 12-6 and Saturdays and Sundays from 3-6pm. It's amazing and extremely reasonably priced. The presentation is immaculate. It's in comparison with eating sushi at a high-end restaurant. Sammy makes every plate with so much intention and care. Definitely coming back as often as possible.

After donating some blood, I needed some life back in me. My friend has been going here for the past ten years so I trusted her recommendations. Here was our experience on a Tuesday afternoon. AMBIANCE: Parking | I think it's shared parking with a motel but generally it seemed like there were room for about 10 cars. Seating | All inside seating with a choice of group seating or bar. If it's group seating there's probably room for about 10 groups, total it can probably house 75-100 people. Feels | It's in a pretty busy street of PCH but as for the plaza itself, it's pretty lowkey. The restaurant is pretty simple with the focus more on the food than aesthetics. It's got it's simple cultural decor with some good pop music and a few tvs to keep you entertained. Seems like a favorite spot for locals and a pretty simple hangout spot. FOOD: Oho Special (Recommend) Beautiful presentation and wealthy portion. I enjoyed the mix of flavors and the umami taste it has to it. Salmon Belly Sashimi (Recommend) This usually defines my sushi spot for me aaaand it passes. A reasonable amount of slices that were pretty cold, fresh, and flavorful. ALSO they actually had it. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Orders came quick and the chefs were friendly. TL;DR OVERALL 4.5 Stars. Good food, reasonable price, and excellent selections. There's more to explore about the menu and the friendly vibes reels me in to come back for more. For those looking for a sushi spot, I recommend giving this spot a go. TIPS: * Though on Yelp it says it's Thai...there's not really Thai options BUT on another note, they got ramen here. read more

I wasn't sure about this place when I initially walked in. We were greeted by the friendly server and it was too late to go back. It was around 2pm and we were given a happy hour menu along with the regular menu. We ordered the LB roll and Soft Shell Crab roll both on the happy hour menu for $10 each. From the regular menu, we ordered the Lobster Bake roll and the Dynamite Bake. All flavorful and fresh. Little bummed that some of the rolls fell apart as soon as you picked them up. My favorite and worth ordering is the LB roll and the Dynamite Bake. What needs to change is the wasabi they use. No heat and an odd green flavor. read more
At 4 solid stars and 1000 plus reviews, I was expecting awesome. Lobster Roll $12: baked lobster w Mayo, avocado, masago, soy paper wrap, sesame seed sprinkle. Cold is the first word to mind, light taste is the second. No amazing flavor or anything. Was like a strip of lobster almost like the imitation crab stick width cut along 5-6 sushi roll slices. Fairly thin slice which I prefer cuz it fits better in my mouth. Was good to try. Wouldn't try again tho. Crab Company Roll $13: "The hulk roll", fried soft shell crab, "lean salad" aka imicrabmeatmash, avocado top, cucumber slivers, green onion, massago, sesame seed sprinkle, slightly spicy mayo? Not sure why it's referenced as the hulk roll, unless for the avocado....but then what would the caterpillar roll be then. I guess this is a caterpillar roll but soft shell crab instead of eel. Again first word is cold. Slight hint of spicy but that gets covered up fast. Avocado slices were thin but bright green. Soft shell crab maybe not fresh, couple pieces had that off fishy taste. Again flavors were bland. Nothing amazing, but maybe it's cuz the rolls were so cold. I did call in the order (1135). ETA15min. Arrived in 9minutes (1144). Hadn't started the crab co roll yet so was invited to sit down and wait maybe something to drink? Pass, I'm just here in n out, nice of them to offer tho. Place was butt empty. Should've been warning flag 1. Granted they open at 1130. Legit places tho fill out mad fast at lunch time. Order ready at 1149, got back to office and immediately opened my rolls...sooo I would've expected maybe warm rolls at worst. Not cold cold like I bought it at Albertsons from the refrigerated "asian cuisine" section. Parking: shared with a motel? That's...not expected. I would hate to come when it's packed. Luckily when I arrived it was only half filled but I think that's from the motel. There's literally nothing else besides the motel in this lot. It's like the motels' "fine dining lounge that hotels have". Wheelchair ramp right in front too. Of note they have a happy hour menu, usually that skews the ratings. Maybe I should've read some reviews first before diving in. read more
Ordered for pick-up and it was ready on time! Found our go-to sushi rolls place since moving to DTLB a few days ago (just a 15mins drive). Rolls were delicious, raw items tasted fresh and each rolls is generously packed with sushi rice is on point. Tempura was also pretty great and traveled well, was still very crispy upon arriving home. read more

It's the price and flavor for me. They have a black snapper and scallops that have this lemony flavor that just gives me the goosebumps ! It was my first time trying the salmon truffle, which I will also order again. It was very fresh and somewhat spicy. read more

Found a nice diamond in the Long Beach area for sushi. Right on the PCH is a small well adorned shop with great service and informative sushi chefs. Had the lunch special sashimi plate which came with a choice of roll, soup and salad. Fresh fish and nice portion (slightly thinner then use too but good). Had an order of Sweet Shrimp with heads which were some of the best tasting we have had in years. If your looking for a nice place to enjoy some fresh fish this is the spot. read more

Great quality sushi at great prices. Don't be fooled by the fact that it shares a parking lot with a Motel, the sushi here is really tasty. They have happy hour everyday from 3pm until closing and their menu includes some appetizers at $3.99 and selected rolls at $8.99 along with some discounted beer and wine. The menu description of the rolls don't reflect accurately on what actually comes out. So I recommend just picking something with the types of fillings/toppings you'd like and you'll definitely get something worthwhile. Boyfriend and I tried 4 rolls, all of them were so good that we inhaled our food. +Wolverine roll (5/5): This was personally my favorite roll out of the bunch. It was not on the HH menu but it was, I believe, one of the only rolls with raw salmon on top so I ordered it for that reason (I love salmon). The salmon was fresh and the glaze on top was some sort of spicy, sweet, and sour flavor, bomb.com! +Extreme crunchy roll (3/5): Boyfriend and my least favorite roll and it was off the HH menu. The crunchyness was very extreme so you'd get what you're asking for but the spicy tuna on the inside somehow tasted kind of mushy and flavorless. They had a tasty eel sauce coating that enhances the flavor so it wasn't that bad. +Sunrise on 2nd street roll (4/5): This was on the HH menu and it has raw tuna on top. Very yummy! It has a similar glaze to the wolverine but it just doesn't have the spicyness. The flavor is kind of sweet with a slight tang in the sauce. Loved it. +Sexy girl roll (4/5): Boyfriend's favorite roll out of the bunch (he would've given it a 5/5 but this is my review not his lol) and its on the HH menu. It's a combination of sweet, spicy, and crunchy; the jalapenos weren't too hot and were just enough to give a good kick. We came at 8:30pm on a Saturday and there was only one other customer in the entire restaurant. That made me sort of skeptical to try the place I'm so glad we did. The service was great and attentive and the sushi chef also asked us what we thought of the rolls during our meal. We loved everything because each roll had a different and unique flavor but they all ended up being really good. I will definitely come back! read more

Oho located along PCH has a shared parking lot of a Motel. Don't be fooled by the quirkiness of having to park next to the Motel lot (yea we thought it odd too). My sister, kids and I were famished and parched, and ready to dive in some good sushi. Long Beach has quite a bit of competition when it comes to sushi joints, so being that this was their first time, and my second time here when it was called Sushi Studio, they were a bit skeptical since we were all sushi connoisseur with different sets of palates. Needless to say, we enjoyed every dish we ordered. Our favorite was the 911 roll, the sexy lady roll (mango slice topping), shrimp tempura roll and .. actually come to think of it, we ate just about every bit of everything so, I must say, we had zero complaints. They served the most freshest ginger we've all ever had from any sushi restaurant we've been to. Overall, I'd give the food and service 4.5/5 stars. Service slightly slow considering there wasn't much of a crowd, but we'd definitely come back. read more

And the SAMMY DELIGHT ! sashimi As usual everything was fresh and delicious they also tossed in a ghost sake for me to try. This time around Wally totally hooked me up and created a role customize and inspired by me !! now being called the Ari Roll !! It's jam packed with flavor. The New Ari Roll, Wallys creation has Pokey tuna mess Iago black sesame seed spicy mayo jalapeño mango chunks avocado on top of a spicy tuna rice roll !!! Sushi studio has been my go to sushi experience for about 6 years now & I wanted to finally give them a review! My boyfriend is a sports fisherman so we are knowledgeable about good quality fish & there's always taste very good & fresh. They have been consistent with great on customer service & fresh sushi & Japanese food since as long as I can remember. Oscar was out server today & he is always great. Happy 2023! read more

This is probably the best hole in the wall sushi place in Long Beach! The food is very good and fresh, which makes sense with the restaurant being so close to the water. I love this place because the food is so good and very affordable. The combo plate is the best bang for your buck. Servers are always so friendly and quick too! read more

Great little spot with a casual and fun ambiance. The wait staff and sushi chefs working were all so nice and welcoming. The sushi was very tasty and they offer fresh wasabi which most sushi spots don't carry, if you've never had it, order it - it's worth it...trust me. We came in for happy hour and everything was delicious. Highly recommend the crispy rice tuna, sunrise roll and the volcano roll. We also ended up ordering the animal style albacore sushi off the regular menu and that was very tasty as well! Don't let the location fool you, this place was quality, we will definitely be coming back here again, and you should too! read more

We came here for dinner on a Thursday evening while driving around and figuring our what to have for dinner. We decided to stop into Oho Sushi Studio because we drove past it and remembered having a nice dinner years ago. The food was delicious but I am giving it a lower rating because of the service. I understand outdoor seating is the only way to go right now, but why were there no heaters to keep the customers warm? When we asked for a heater, we were told that they had "ran out of fuel." It was 6:30pm and dinner was just getting started. How do you not have any heaters? We were so cold that it made it difficult to enjoy our food when we were shaking and trying to keep warm. A restaurant does not have an excuse to not have heaters. If you run out, then you go and purchase more fuel. After a year of the pandemic, I would assume restaurants is prepared with heaters and enough back-up fuel to keep the customers warm. It was difficult to truly enjoy our meals when we just wanted to eat as fast as possible and get to the car. I am extremely disappointed by the lack of preparedness by Sushi Studio. I would think twice about dining here when other sushi restaurants provide outdoor seating, with proper heating. The sushi was delicious and pretty, but it was hard to enjoy with the frosty winds and low temperature. This was truly one of those moments when it hurt to pay the $85 for a dinner we were unable to enjoy. I would definitely think twice and do some extra research. read more
