A few weeks ago, I decided to check out this place before blogTO comes through We got there at 11am and it was about a 30min wait for us to get a table, not too bad tbh since the place is rlly tiny and very limited seating. We got the Chicken Katsu Sando, the chicken is juicy and tender, not dry at all! And the crunchy skin was the cherry on top. The bread is nicely toasted, & the fries are kinda like McDonald's fries but with some kind of Japanese seasoning. My friend got the chashu eggs benny, chashu is basically pork belly. And you can't go wrong with pork & eggs amirite! Notable mention: I really enjoyed the matcha latte, it wasn't too bitter and quite refreshing! Would definitely visit again in the future! Delicious Japanese brunch and in my opinion one of the best brunches in the city. Had the Ohiru classic which was nice. Pork belly cha siu was fantastic and thick. Tonkatsu sando had a thick piece of pork and a nice wasabi spread. Shokupan bread was heavenly. Fries were interestingly seasoned with nori to give it saltiness Udon carbonara and as nice and cream. Came here for Valentines Day brunch to get the free matcha crème brûlée lol. First time here. The food was excellent. BF had the chicken katsu sandwich which was flavourful. The bread was nice and the fries (which are often overlooked) were so, so good! I had the carbonara udon and that was also excellent. The portions here are generous and we ended up taking half of the sandwich home. We're not big eaters, but if you are, you won't leave hungry. Hojicha latte was also delicious. read more

The karaage waffles were SO GOOD and so filling I could extend it to a full meal later that day. The karaage was juicy, and the waffles had this miso syrup that I'll be trying to replicate. The nori fries were really salty, but maybe its a me thing. It tasted much better when eaten in combination with the waffles, which helped mask the strength of the salt. The sparkling peach oolong was average. Nothing special or memorable. When i visited, it was empty, but that's likely because it was a Thursday morning during their earlier opening. The service was great and attentive. They were really warm & kind. Also, great music selection. Their seating is a bit small, with smaller tables, so it's good for smaller groups, with a date, or by yourself. I believe they also have bar (high) seating. We went around 11 am and only had to wait 10 minutes for a table on a Sunday. However It was still very busy and the food took a while to come out. The americano and cappuccino was delicious. There's a unique flavour to the coffees which I enjoyed. The Karaage and waffles had great taste, the sauces were delicious and complimented the chicken. The salad and dressing had a nice refreshing dressing to it. Only complaint is the Karaage, it was juicy but it had huge chunks of fat in every piece which I did not enjoy. I've had karaage other places and it's not like that. The cha siu eggs Benny was delicious, the cha siu was perfectly roasted and seasoned. A Very unique and tasty fusion. Loved the food here! It's busy and for good reason. Solid food and customer service. Only until mid afternoon so it's a place to start your day or great energy with their food offerings. I had the chasu Benny with pork belly. Inhaled it! And would definitely order it again. They had some really flavourful noodle dishes for lunch but I just wanted something towards their I plan on trying those at a later time. I tried their hojicha cold tea latte as well as tiramisu. I had never had anything like it but I can honestly say wow! So happy to add this to my flavour library. The hojicha is definitely addictive. Highly recommend! Wow this place rocks my world! We were just looking for macha at 9 am on a Sunday. So no big deal right? Well kinda. So I pulled out my phone and Yelp and whoa, this place pops up right away. Genuine macha baby! It's Japanese so of course! We pulled up in front and it was 3 minutes before 9 am, the opening time and fortunately they opened on time, since we had somewhere to be before 10 am. Being the first ones in, I placed my order for a trad breakfast along with a regular latte for myself, and she had the revered macha latte. The macha didn't stand a chance and was gone in a few minutes, just being perfect and all. The beautiful cup, the perfect temperature and great flavour made it something that goes great in your tummy. My latte was fantastic as well, with a rich creamy texture and smooth coffee flavour, and first thing in the morning a real treat to the tastebuds. The breakfast came fast as the restaurant filled up immediately as it opened up, and a lineup formed outside on the sidewalk. Everyone stared at my food as the place is quite cramped and we were well on our way to making our table vacant for the next in line. There a text number on the window outside for adding yourself to the foodie queue. The bacon had a smoky aroma that surrounded our table. It was done perfectly as well with just the right amount of cooking to leave some of the delicious fat content while crisping up the lean parts to make them gummy-chewy and absolutely satisfyingly delicious. A nice pile too, so important to me as a bacon aficionado. The bread/toast was incredibly good! The perfect partner to the bacon, it was thick and looked like French Toast, and had the center section tamped down with the bottom of a glass it appeared which made it good to add thing on to of for munching down on without the toppings sliding off. And the salad, omg so good! The dressing was off-the-charts delicious and had me sopping up every little bit of it from the plate. A great variety of fresh greens in that salad, made me think of Quebec/ French breakfasts with their penchant for the fresher things in life to get you going in the morning. The other dimension to this experience were the cute little potato croquettes, which had bits of yummy onion in them and were shaped into small medallions of chewy-on-the-outside and moist-on-the-inside delights! Absolutely fantastic and will be back to try their later-in-the-day fare like the chicken (and waffles?) sandwich, karaage, whisky and everything else Japanese. Highly recommended!! read more

So so delicious - the milk bread was crisped to perfection and offered a wonderful texture to hold the soft eggs. I'm so glad I found this hole in the wall. This is the only place in the city serving wafu (japanese style) pasta. I'm so happy that they included 2 pastas in their brunch menu. I hope they rotate pasta menus so that we can have more variety of wafu pasta! If Zakkushi group is reading this- please- make a wafu pasta restaurant. I will eat there every week. Came here for Saturday brunch after hearing amazing things about the place. Upon arriving, we had to write our name and number down as there was a wait list. It took about 20 minutes for them to call us. I went with the chashu benny as I don't often see this at other brunch places. In my opinion, it was okay, and the flavor wasn't a standout. The price was also quite high for what the dish was, and it only came with a few small potatoes. I did feel a bit disappointed as I was hyped up for this place, but maybe it was just the specific dish that I ordered. The service was also kind of slow, and I had to flag down the server multiple times in order for them to come get our order and give us the bill. It's a small restaurant that seats about 14 guests and you may have to wait if it's during their busy hours. However they work fast to get the food out to the customers. I got the Chashu eggs benny which comes with two eggs Benedict, smashed potatoes and side salad. The eggs were cooked to perfection- runny yolks. The hollandaise sauce was delicious and not overpowering the entire dish. The pork belly was a nice twist - sweet and savory and tender. The English muffin was baked appropriately in that you can cut through it with a butter knife without it pulling and ruining the structure. You get two so that will fill you up. The smashed potatoes were seasoned perfectly and delicious. The side mixed greens had a dressing that did not over tone the eggs Benedict so there was no flavor clash. I got an espresso latte - amazing and smooth. I can have seconds. They do have other types of lattes too like matcha. Price: A bit on the high side but 100% your money's worth. A nice little brunch place, but the seating is quite limited and it was pretty warm inside. The pork tonkatsu Sando had a nice juicy crunch and the cha siu for the classic breakfast was tasty. Note that the cha siu was fatty, but it's basically just pork belly, so you kind of have to make peace with it. The portions are pretty big and the classic breakfast had two big pieces of toast that would be really filling for an average person. I don't think I would recommend the chicken karaage, as it seems to have a taste where old oil was used. As well, if you want garlic aioli sauce, they would charge almost $2 for it. This seems pretty pricey as other places would normally include sauce for free. Overall, it's worth a try, but probably not a place where you can sit for long. read more

I stopped and went straight to the cafe. It's around 10 on Sunday. We were lucky to have a table for us. Their shokupan is really good. It's super thick and the butter on top is tasty and smells good. Scramble eggs is not American style. It's runny in state. This is my second time eating at Ohiru Cafe. Their shokupan is the best - it's super fluffy and light. It's included in most of the dishes - like the Ohiru Classic and is used in the Tamago Sando as well. The chashu in the Ohiru Classic is excellent, juicy and crispy at the same time. The Tamago Sando was also very good - fluffy bread with plenty of egg salad and a soft boiled egg too. We also mistakenly thought it came with fries OR salad (and through this misunderstanding ordered a side of fries) - it's actually fried AND salad. Our server very nicely cancelled the side of fries when they came. The karaage was amazing - flavorful, juicy and the batter was the right thickness. The waffles were just average though. As for drinks, I've tried both the Yuzu Ichigo Latte and Hojicha Latte. The Yuzu Ichigo Latte turned out to be a yuzu and strawberry yoghurt smoothie kind of drink - a bit too thick for my liking. I prefer their Hojicha Latte instead. My husband tried the Hitachino beer, which was just average and a bit pricey ($11 for a small bottle). Great brunch spot overall! read more

Such a cute little place! It was just about full when we got there with just enough space for us to squeeze in. They were so nice and the menu items all looked SO good. i had a hard time choosing between the katsu sando and the udon carbonara but eventually decided on the udon, with a sakura latte to go with it. The sakura latte was ACTUALLY sakura whereas I'm used to places trying to sell strawberry drinks and calling them "sakura". The carbonara was so al dente and creamy in the best way. So much cream but still in a way that was neither too much or too little. If you think that a serving of udon with a shokupan on the side is too much, you'd be wrong. They're both so good but different too. Even better is choosing to dip the big fluffy shokupan in the cream sauce resulting in an almost garlic bread taste. Tried my friend's breakfast potatoes too and they were also 10/10. Also, I really like their tableware - I want to know where they got their cups and plates. read more

Was in the area with my friend on a Saturday afternoon. We had plans to dine at a different restaurant but the wait time was 2 hours, so we decided to come here instead. Wait time was about 40 min, not great but 1. better than 2 hours and 2. to be expected on a Saturday. The restaurant itself is SUPER small, probably fits about 25-30 people if that! Honestly could use some love in regards to decor. However, we are here for the food! I ordered the chicken katsu sando and the portion was HUGE! Almost a little too much bread but it all tasted really good nonetheless. The nori fries were reminiscent of McDonald's fries but a bit saltier. We also ordered the red bean mochi waffles which came with a miso maple syrup. DELISH! Loved the pieces of mochi around the plate and the nice chewy texture of the waffle. I believe because the restaurant is so small, it was difficult to communicate with the servers since they could not stay in one spot for too long or else they'd be blocking the way. Bathroom was kinda scary and had the smallest sink i think i'd ever seen. Overall, a nice spot for brunch but would love to see them in a bigger space so I could feel more comfortable and cozy when im enjoying their yummy food. read more

First of all, their matcha is SO GOOD. Any matcha menu is worth getting. The matcha creme brulee looks burnt but it was the perfect amount of sugar coating and matcha filling. Their karaage is 100% recommended, and the waffles that go with it are very crispy and the perfect amount of sweetness. I personally loving egg sandwiches so I really liked the two different kinds of egg in the tamago sando, but it may be underwhelming for some. The fries that come with it are very good too. The chicken karaage was uncooked and when I discreetly told the server, she then starts denying it even though you can clearly see the rawness of that chicken. Don't bother trying to explain to me how you cook your chicken if it's clear that it was not. I know how raw chicken looks like and that looked like you serve me sashimi. Honestly there's nothing special about this place, no idea why there's such a long line up too like the food was just okay and nothing special. Place was congested and didn't have a clear layout.
