Left here so full I could barely move. Dont be like me and get fooled by their pictures; their portions are massive! Came here for Sunday brunch after 1pm, and joined the waitlist. We had some time to check out Kensington Market while we waited which was nice. Inside was cozy (I wish there was a little bit more natural light inside). Service was pretty quick and food arrived shortly after as well. Everything tasted great! If I come again I think I'd split my meal, or take half home because I felt the portions were just that big Drinks and dessert were good/fine, however I probably wouldnt order them again. Worth checking out if you have time to endure the waitlist and are checking out the area! :)
I came across this cafe literally while in the street car I was in passed by it, and immediately wanted to try it out, since I didn't know where to go for lunch with my friend. Best impulse decision LOL; I loved the udon carbonara I had gotten; the sauce was a bit more on the creamier side, but the flavor was perfectly balanced. The Hojicha latte I had gotten was suuper good, and if you like your lattes sweet, you'll def enjoy this.
If you're tired of the usual brunch spots and want something a little different, Ohiru Cafe is such a lovely find. I recently tried their Japanese brunch and really enjoyed it. The portions were very generous, the food was delicious, and the whole experience felt comforting and satisfying. The Tonkatsu Sando was my favorite. The pork cutlet was thick, juicy, and crispy, with a rich sauce that paired perfectly with the soft, fluffy Japanese toast. I also really liked the Hojicha Kuri French Toast. The chestnut purée was not overly sweet, and the hojicha sauce had a nice balanced flavor that made the dish feel indulgent without being too heavy. There were still so many things I wanted to try because the portions were so big. The fried chicken waffles smelled amazing, and the pasta at the next table looked surprisingly good too. I also just found out they serve sake in the evening, and their ochazuke is supposed to be excellent. The service was also very good.. friendly, attentive, and welcoming, which made the whole brunch experience even more enjoyable. Together with the cozy and relaxed ambience, it felt like such a nice place to slow down and enjoy a meal. Overall, Ohiru Cafe is definitely somewhere I'd go back to for a brunch that feels a little different and very satisfying.
Came here as a group of 2 on a weekend at around 11am and was lucky enough to be seated right away! My friend and I got the karaage and waffles and salmon eggs Benny to share. We also got a matcha latte and hojicha latte for our drinks. Out of the two entrees, my favorite was the karaage and waffles. The karaage was big and juicy and the waffles were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The salmon eggs Benny was good too but I just thought it was on the more simple side and the karaage and waffles was more special. Both of the drinks were also great and they definitely did not skimp on their matcha and hojicha powder! Highly recommend this place! The space is quite small though so if you have a big group, make sure you come early!
I had their chicken katsu and it was DELICOUS! Great portion of the sandwich itself and the fries. The sandwich had such a thick cut of the katsu, perhaps even thicker than the bread holding it. The slaw was delicious with the shredded carrots. The fries were stringy and crispy, my ideal way of enjoying french fries. The salad was equally as good. Overall, I enjoyed my time here and can easily say that this is one of my top brunch places. I wish this place was opened till later though haha :D
After an attempt to eat at a nearby restaurant was foiled, we found ourselves in search of a new brunch spot. We happened upon Ohiru Cafe and somehow managed to snag one of the last free tables (by the window no less!) The menu was full of intriguing items but I eventually opted for the Chicken Katsu Sando ("Crispy Chicken Cutlet, Scallion Aioli, Cabbage Slaw"), as I've always enjoyed that dish and was interested to see how it would translate to sandwich form. Pretty well, it turns out. Although I can't say it reminded me much of a traditional chicken katsu dish, I quite enjoyed this concoction. The fried chicken, while a little too crispy, was prepared well and the aioli gave it a good amount of flavor. The soft, tasty bread perfectly tied the whole thing together, and the included fries and salad made for a perfect complement. Ohiru Cafe is a very cute little spot that I'm sure I'll return to, since their menu contained a bunch of other promising-sounding items.
Service is great at this small restaurant on College street. They take reservations only during the week. I ordered the chicken Katsu sandwich, which is massive! I had enough for lunch and dinner. Came here on a weekend morning for brunch and we each ordered the chicken katsu sando. The sando came with a side of fries. It was a generous portion! Ended up saving half to take home. Got the matcha ube latte which unfortunately didn't taste that great. Would come back to try the other items on the menu though.
I've had brunch at Ohiru a few times now, and it's always such a solid experience. Cozy space, warm service, and consistently good. Everything feels fresh, balanced, and well made. A great go-to spot for Japanese inspired brunch on College.
Pretty disappointed by our service experience here today. We were all so excited to try the food and after we got seated we noticed two tables that were seated after us got their drinks before we even placed our order. Once we did place our order our drinks took another 30 minutes while the tables around us got their food. The carbonara was so unbelievably bland. I would have returned it but we were hungry and had been waiting for close to an hour for our food at this point. Thankfully not everything was a bust. The karage and waffles was really good. The miso syrup was excellent and the karage was crispy and cooked really well. My matcha latte arrived toward the end of the meal and was excellent.
visited toronto and this place is probably one for the books! it's a cute lil japanese brunch cafe that serves the most delicious food and beverages! during this visit, i tried their karaage & waffles, okinawa brown sugar matcha latte, and maple miso hojicha latte. the karaage was cooked to the perfect crispiness, the waffles were nice and fluffy, and the provided miso syrup was sweet with a subtle miso taste! both the drinks i tried were also delicious! the matcha latte has a strong matcha taste and the hojicha latte was a combination that i never wouldve thought worked together!

Finally made it to this café I'd been wanting to check out for a while, and there were a few surprises! First, it was smaller than I expected. Second, the food was better than I anticipated. I went with the new Manchi Katsu Sando and a Matcha Kyoto Soy Latte. The sando portions were great, the bread was excellent, and the fries were a pleasant surprise--super tasty! My only gripe was the "cutlet," which turned out to be a ground meat patty rather than an actual cutlet. If I'd known, I probably would've tried one of the other two cutlet options. The matcha drink was decent, and I got to sample the karaage and mushroom pasta--both seemed pretty solid. Our server was awesome! He even mentioned that if we tagged the café in a photo, they'd comp a dessert for us. We went with a lemon/blueberry cheesecake (I think?). It wasn't totally my thing, but hey, free dessert is free dessert, right? I had my eye on the French toast, but by the end, I was way too full. Guess I'll have to save that for next time!

One of the best brunch spots at Toronto. Cute cafe style but the place is a little bit small. It was quite busy in the weekend, I waited for 20mins to get seated. My friend came 10mins late but the staff was patient, didn't pressured me while I was waiting my friend. I remember they do have a 75/90mins time limit to enjoy your meal. I ordered (1) Chashu eggs benny - The Chashu(pork belly) was so juicy and flavourful, and the Benny was perfect. (2) and a Hojicha latte - one of the best I had in Toronto. It was so rich but not bitter. read more
This cafe has been on my list for so long! Finally decided to check it out. Since this place is so busy and it was a Sunday, we did have to wait about 30mins which was not bad. The place has limited seating, hence the wait time. The service was prompt and there was a variety of menu items to choose from. Ambiance was nice and cozy as well. The servers were also friendly. Ordered the Chashu Benny, Yuzu Miso Pancakes (weekend exclusive) with Yuzu Blueberry Sauce on the side, and the Miso Maple Cold Foam Matcha Latte. My favourite was the Benny! It was so tasty and the Chashu was cooked nicely. The pancakes were okay, we thought the Yuzu Miso sauce would be drizzled onto the pancake, but came on the side. The matcha was good but wished we could taste more of the miso maple foam, as it didn't really blend in, but the foam itself was delicious. Highly recommend if you are looking for a brunch spot in that area! read more

Really nice brunch spot! The food was amazing and the portions were huge. You have to get the katsu sandwich, there was so much chicken. I love that the bread was buttered, the chicken was crispy yet juicy and it came with a bit of a kick form the sauce. The fires were also very well season and had some seaweed flavoring to it which was good. The carbonara udon was also cooked very well, the pork was season nicely. The sauce was really creamy. The drinks were got were also very tasty, we got the Kyoto matcha latte (cold only) and Hojicha latte. The cafe is very very small and they don't allow reservations on the weekends so wait times can be very long. As it is first come first serve, we waited around 40 minutes but the people ahead of us waited an hour before they got seated. Service was pretty good and our food came out quickly. There was a bit of miscommunication on drinks but other than that we really enjoyed it. read more
Will definitely be coming back here! The servers were all very nice & friendly! The chicken katsu sando was awesome and topped with what tasted like a yuzu mayonnaise. Absolutely delicious! As the weather was still nice outside, we sat on the patio right on college st which was perfectly shaded for the meal. read more
One of the best brunches I've ever had in Toronto. This is a small restaurant so there is a iPad with the waiting list you need to sign up for when you arrive. Keep in mind that each person must order a minimum of one main. The restaurant is very busy on weekends and they don't take reservations on weekends. The menu consists of Japanese fusion breakfast and lunch dishes. We got the chicken and waffles, eggs Benedict, in katsu sando. In summary, every single component of each dish was well seasoned and tasted amazing. Even the fries and salad which were included. Our food came quickly and the servers were pretty attentive. Portions are very generous (we had leftovers ) and prices are reasonable for the quality. The washrooms are inaccessible, downstairs. Overall it is worth the hype. I highly recommend coming here for brunch or breakfast. read more

Brunch brunch brunch! I came here with a party of 3 close to when they just opened. This place is very small with less than 10 tables inside. We had to place our name on the waitlist and it took about 20 mins to get a table. This is a Japanese style breakfast, where I ordered chicken waffles and a hojicha latte. My friend ordered the egg Sando which looks amazing. The meal was exceptional and the service was amazing too. For a very busy restaurant, the quality is incredible. I did order a lactose free latte and noticed later that it definitely wasn't lactose free. Overall, I'd definitely come back to try more items on their menu. It's in a great location close by to Kensington market and a streetcar! read more

The mushroom eggs benedict and chicken katsu sandwich and matcha latte are so amazing. I always recommend their matcha latte. Their ube latte is seasonal and is made of real ube which I really enjoyed. Service was attentive and the store itself is quite small so it seats a limited number of people so better to come early or else you might find yoruself on the wait list. read more

We visited this location for a lunch date. The portions are pretty big, and their seasoning for fires are so good! I especially love the salad dressing, it's not like any other dressing that I have tried before. The place is on the more pricy side, paid about $22 for a sandwich with fries and salad. The service was pretty slow, as there is only 1 server serving the crowd. The place does get busy quickly. read more
Such a great little brunch spot. The ohiru classic is definitely quite filling as it comes with eggs, bacon, two huge pieces of shokupan, potatoes and a salad. The scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection, just like the bacon too. The shokupan was nice and fluffy. The potatoes and salad were a nice complement to the meal as well. The service was very attentive and it was overall an amazing experience. There are not that many tables, so it can be quite busy! read more

This is a Japanese inspired brunch restaurant. It does get very busy especially since it is a small restaurant. The place is clean, the owners make sure their restaurant is well kept. Portion sizes are huge and easily shareable. We got the chashu eggs benny and hojicha kuri French toast. Prices were reasonable. Service was great. Staff was very kind Chashu eggs benny 5 - the smashed potatoes had a unique, delicious flavor. Pork belly was juicy. The pork belly, poached eggs, and yuzu hollandaise all came together nicely in one palatable bite. Hojicha kuri French toast 5 - not too heavy but filling. First time I had French toast like this so this was very tasty. It was only for a limited time. read more

Finally got the chance to visit this popular restaurant. It's super busy especially on the weekends and you can only be added on the wait list in person. We were lucky enough to get seated within 30 minutes although they estimated a wait time of 2 hours. Each person is required to order a minimum of 1 main dish. We went with the fruit waffles, egg sandwich, and lattes. Although at a high price point, the portions here are huge and we were basically full after finishing the egg sandwich dish. Egg sandwich - good but unfortunately did not live up to all the hype in my opinion. I did enjoy the seasoning in the fries though. Waffles - paired with a miso syrup. This was interesting and a good option to balance out the savoury sandwich Matcha latte - this was great and had a very strong match taste. Unfortunately, the lid wasn't sealed on properly and I had spilled the drink all over my jeans. I was disappointed that management didn't apologize for this or offer any compensation. Overall great brunch spot with interesting Japanese fusion dishes. I would be open to visiting again if there were more reasonable wait times or option to make reservations. read more
This place has amazing Japanese infused brunch dishes with even better portions. The only thing I didn't love was that my chicken karage was a little fatty; but it was still such a delicious meal. Service was good and the ambiance in the place is so cozy. Since it is a small place there isn't much space for large parties. Would definitely recommend this place and would return! read more
This restaurant is always busy on the weekend. Need to put your name on the waiting list and if not all party are there you will need to sign up again. It is a small restaurant, I'd recommend up to 4 people or you will be waiting longer. The smashed potatoes were good and the Benny's was alright. The dish didn't really stood out. My friend and I came here on a Saturday for a brunch. I've read that this place was well-known for its brunch, so I was so excited to eat and catch up with my friend. As this place doesn't accept reservations, we came by around 11 a.m. to get a seat before noon. The line was quite long, but it moved pretty quickly. In about 40 minutes, we were seated. The interior was simple and clean. It was a small space that could fit about 15 to 20 people inside, and 8 to 10 people at the patio. My friend ordered Karaage & Waffles (Japanese fried chicken, garlic aioli, homemade waffles, house salad, and miso syrup) and I chose Mushroom Spinach Benny (mushroom medley, baby spinach, two poached eggs, house salad, and smashed potatoes). The food was delicious! My friend said that karaage was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The waffles were soft and fluffy, and the dipping sauces were quite addicting. I also enjoyed my meal- the mushrooms were well-cooked, benny was flavourful and the potatoes were lightly crispy. The salad balanced out the various flavours. During our meal, the waitress came by to check-in on us and refilled water. Since the place was full, the temperature inside was quite humid. Despite the air conditioner running, the air felt stuffy. It would be great if the staff turned on the air conditioner a bit higher. If you're looking for a unique place for brunch, give this place a try! Note: On weekends, there is a 90 minute seating limit. read more
Great brunch! I've saved this spot for the longest time to come , but never got the chance until the long weekend. It's a super small space therefore expect the wait times. We arrived around 2pm and there was about 4-5 people ahead waiting for a seat. We got seated after waiting 20-30mins. I ordered the katsu sandwich and my boyfriend got the udon carbonara and matcha latte. Let me start by saying it's a must you get the matcha latte, its super smooth and not bitter at all. I loved it Soo much. The katsu sandwich is delicious and the chicken cutlet is huge. I was so full I couldn't finish the other half of my sandwich. The Japanese milk bread ( I assume) they used was the best, it was nice and light and fluffy. My boyfriend carbonara was good but i didn't have too much taste. Liked it a lot! read more
Came here on a Saturday for Brunch. This place gets insanely busy. We got there around 11 and was seated at 12:30. You write your name down on the list and they will call you when the table is available. Ordered the Karaage and Waffles (23) and the Tonkatsu Sando (18.5). The karaage and waffles was fantastic. Best chicken/waffles I've ever had. Extremely juicy chicken, with great sauces and waffles. They use a miso syrup which goes perfectly with the dish. I really really love this dish. The Tonkatsu Sando was also very good. It's an absolutely massive sandwich, it's really hard to get a good bite in just cause of the sheer height on it. The nori fries it came with were a tad salty but otherwise was very good flavour. Also got an Oolong tea (4), which was just a tea bag they used but it was still very nice. I definitely get why this place is so popular and has such great reviews. Just make sure to get there early if you're planning on going on a weekend! read more

I can't sing the praises of this place enough. How fortunate that our original brunch plans fell through when the place was unexpectedly closed. Yelp came through with this nearby recommendation that was life changing!! This place is so small and cute. The food is FABULOUS so no surprise it's got a line usually. The karaage and waffles was one of the best things I've eaten. Ever. Period. *LEGIT* karaage, insane miso syrup, garlic aoli. Oh my god. I was regretting not having ordered it myself and kept begging my boyfriend for bites. It was just...wow. My chashu eggs benny was definitely good. Pales in comparison to the karaage and waffles though, haha. I found the pork a little tough, maybe overcooked. Salad was a nice fresh touch and the dressing is tastu. Still a great meal and the smashed potatoes are divine. My second favorite item was the iced hojicha latte! Dear god if I could drink one of those every day, I would. So rich but that roasty toasty hojicha balances it right out. The yuzu mimosa was a nice treat. How often do you see that on a brunch menu? We had to do it. Insane lineups, but that's because the food is really good. If you can, suggest getting to Ohiru when it opens to avoid the long wait. We stopped by for brunch and got: - Karaage and Waffles: standout dish, with the karaage perfectly fried so it was crisp gold on the outside and glistening juiciness on the inside. - Chashu Eggs Benny: It was ok. Pork belly was tender though would have liked it a bit more tasty. Eggs benny were standard. - Hojicha Tiramisu: Yummy! Strong hojicha flavour, melt-in-your-mouth cake. - Hot Chocolate: More on the thinner side, but loved all the marshmallows. Prices are fairly reasonable. Place is small so packed. Newly opened Japanese style brunch cafe with great portions! We came here last Sunday around 11am and it was quite busy with a line up outside. However, you don't need to wait in line and you can write down your name and number to be on waitlist and they will call you once the table is ready. The restaurant cafe is very small inside so expect a wait during peak times. Luckily, if you're a table for 2 then it will move up faster since most tables inside seat 2. Larger groups, they will have to place the tables together. We ordered the Udon Carbonara ($23) and Chasu Eggs Benny ($18.50). The udon carbonara was made with guanciale and topped with pecorino cheese and onsen egg. It was super creamy which I loved and balanced with a side of buttery toast. However, this dish does fill you up if it's your first meal of the day because it can be quite heavy and portions are big for breakfast. The Chasu Eggs Benny was good too! It was made with pork belly, poached eggs, yuzu hollandaise sauce, smashed potatoes and a house salad. I really enjoyed the dressing on the salad as it had a light sesame taste to it! The flavours blended nicely together on this dish. Really nice take on Japanese brunch and we would come back and visit again :) you definitely won't be leaving hungry here. read more
