Such a nice spot with a wide variety of onigiris and breads + lots of drink options. Dropped by on a weekend to pick up some snacks. This place is definitely popular and I happened to come when there was a long line, but it moved fast and when I left there was no more line. They have a variety of breads plus so many onigiri choices! I got 2 breads, an sukiyaki onigiri, spam musubi, and hk milk tea for only $15 (so definitely a steal!). Honestly, the breads were just ok but the onigiri were delicious! Definitely prioritize buying and eating a ton of them! The HK milk tea was pretty good and I noticed a lot of kids ordering other drinks off the menu so it seems like a spot for beverages as well. Super quick and efficient ordering process. You just place what you want in a tray and hand it over to the staff in the front and they add everything up. Highly recommend it to introverts like me who don't like to speak too much. I got the Sakura Lychee Slush with aloe vera and I HIGHLY recommend it! It was very refreshing and the aloe vera gave it a nice chewy texture. The onigiri there was yummy as well. I was in Brooklyn Chinatown for lunch but passed by this new bakery. It looked crowded so I decided to check it out. They had a large variety of buns and onigiri. The buns looked pretty large and most only cost $2. I ordered the matcha red bean bun, ube bun, a shrimp tempura onigiri, and a teriyaki salmon onigiri. The seating area was pretty packed so I ate the items at home. When I brought it home, the onigiri was still warm. The onigiri had a good amount of filling and reasonably priced ($2.50-$2.75). The buns were large and surprisingly fluffy despite eating them a day later. I preferred the ube bun more than the matcha bun since the matcha bun did not have as much filling as the ube bun. I'll definitely be back to try more buns and onigiri! FYI - if you pay in cash, you don't have to pay tax. read more

They really need to move the onigiri table, it's in the middle of everything and hinders both the bread shelves and the check out. Besides that, check out was efficient, with the cashier waving me over as the people in front of me were selecting their items. I got a taro and salted egg bun, for $2.50. The bread part was chewy, the filling a little unevenly spaced, which is normal, but the first four bites I took were all bread. I've been wanting to go here since my sons love onigiri and upon seeing a post regarding all the onigiris they offer, it was a must stop when I needed to go to Brooklyn today! Got there around 11:00 am on a Saturday and there were plenty of offerings. There are several tables available but all were occupied. Totally fine since we plan to conquer and go. We purchased 11 onigiri and of course had to get the charcoal spam and egg bun and crab salad and cheese since son #2 loves imitation crab sticks. The ladies behind the registers were busy making the multitude teas that they advertise, we did not partake this time around, but there's always next time! 11 onigiri and 6 buns amounted to $44. Considering we will eat these for breakfast, lunch or snack for the weekend, not bad. The onigiri is thick and filling was abundant. At least in my experience. The charcoal bun was different and the flavor was boastful. Definitely will be a repeat purchase. We've only tried the bacon/egg and butter chicken onigiri and those will be a repeat purchase as well... looks like I'll be spending $44 (or more) next time as well... ha read more

Been frequenting this bakery mainly for their Onigiri- Loved the Purple Rice with Eel (sweet and filling). The price is really decent at 2.75 each; at least for the time being. Bakery has a lot of varieties of Onigiri flavors from Spam and Eggs, curry chicken, teriyaki Salmon, etc. Haven't try any of their baked goods as yet, but heard great things about their specialty tea drinks. This bakery has been my new Onigiri obsession since the grand opening- will continue my visits more often. read more

I only came here to try the onigiris and there was sooooooooo many to choose from!!! I settled with spam and egg, crab salad, shrimp tempura. Some were still warm but some are cold. That said, we went the week after (and the week after that) and still marvel at their onigiri, especially their affordability. * Salmon Onigiri $2.75 When I see the words "salmon onigiri", my first impression is salt-cured and steamed/cooked salmon, but I think these are cold-smoked salmon onigiri since the salmon inside still has an almost raw-like texture. * Seaweed Onigiri $2.50 * Seaweed & Bean Curd Onigiri $2.50 My favorite onigiris here, though I'm pretty sure the two are one and the same. The seaweed salad gives a sweet and salty, ocean-sesame crunch, the bean curd is soft and flavorful, and I love that the rice is seasoned with furikake. * Eel Purple Rice Onigiri $2.75 We waited around for these and picked them right off the display once they were ready. Newest addition to the bakery business in 8ave Sunset Park, alongside Tous Les Jour, Barley Time, and Paris Baguette. A modernized bakery which offers more specialized flavors and healthier buns/pastries than the traditional family owned Chinese bakery, if you're into that sort of thing. But the real standout of this bakery from others is that they offer a great selection of rice balls with different fillings. Checked the place out on a weekend afternoon and the place was packed with customers and the line was super long. The inventory of rice balls were depleted quickly but a fresh batch was brought out when I was there. Flavors varied from spicy tuna, crab, curry chicken to eel. I grabbed a couple of rice balls -- spicy tuna, crab, teriyaki chicken, and eel. Prices ranged from $2.25 to $3.50, which is typical price and taste was comparable to Yayas but cheaper. I also got a dozen Portuguese egg tarts. But they definitely can't be compared to Lily Bloom's and weren't freshly out the oven. They were left on display for a while it seems. There weren't much bread and pastries in the display cases but that could be because everything was being sold out quickly. The line to pay was super long and slow. I would be back for the rice balls but that'll probably be the only reason. The bakery didn't stand out to me compared to others, besides the fact that they offer rice balls. read more

The food and prices are great. I like them more than Yaya. Prices for the onigiri are mostly 2.50 and 2.75. Couple of them are $3. They have a lot of varieties. I wish I get to try the others but they don't have them when I was there. The black sesame chestnut bun is good. If you pay in cash, no tax. They will charge tax if you pay by card. Ohayo is one of the greatest eateries in Chinatown. It speaks to me so much in a way that I would like to work there just to learn from a master. Bread prepared with French techiniques and Chinese/ Japan flavors. My favorite onigiri so far: purple eel and octopus salad. If you can tolerate old ladies loitering while eating/ emptying dragon eye shells (an asian fruit similar to lychee) on their bakery trays, maybe you can sit and enjoy something. Finally-- there's a spot selling a wide variety of homemade rice balls and in one of the largest Chinatowns in the US. The rice balls are also not just plain and unvaried: there are different flavors with the options of Purple Rice or White rice. Some flavors include spicy salmon, eel, shrimp, curry chicken, etc. It's usually always crowded but the service is always quick and efficient. Came here based off a recommendation from a friend to try their riceball and I was impressed, there is usually a long line and alot of the riceball are always sold out... even though they're constantly making it people are always snatching it up .. their smoked salmon which is one of their more popular riceball i got lucky to try it once cause they were making it in the back but I had to wait 5 minutes. I don't recommend their shrimp tempura one, there was so many shells in mine and the peices of shrimp are tiny. My friend recommends their seaweed one. The inside is spacious and there's always an aromatic smell of tea brewing. I have yet to try their tea! Currently for grand opening there's 20% discount going on and I highly recommend people who were considering checking out this place take advantage of this deal. My only recommendation for the owners is to make more salmon, the other rice balls just aren't as popular (spam and shrimp). I do like that they season their rice. I love that there is onigiri to go. Not many places around sunset would have this options inside of a bakery. They do have bread a variety of bread options. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Great place to grab onigiris and bubble tea. I tried the wasabi salmon and they put a lot of salmon inside. The tapiocas are so fresh in the bubble tea and the tea is freshly brewed. The service here is just shit and rude. I wanted to try there oni that was pretty viral and popular on insta and TikTok but when I went in everything was pretty much a mess. Went to check out and right as I was reaching for my wallet and opening it the cashier said hurry up and started just straight forward being rude. I was pretty much just shocked and I didn't know what to say out of embarrassment. The customer behind me was shocked as well and told me to take my time and all, but at that moment I was so shocked and my hands were shaking. I would recommend this bakery. It affordable and they have quick service. I love the way they open early so I can grab something to go for breakfast or even lunch. They have Onigiri which are great for a quick meal but just be-careful when eating any Eel Onigiri because they got loads of bones and I almost choke on one.
