Hubby order a breakfast croissant sandwich, along with 2 latte. My chocolate almond croissant was wet and cold, so brought it back to the counter and asked for it to be heated up in the oven. It came back a few my later still cold and wet. I am now eating an under cooked, cold and wet pastry that was just disgusting. Since its inception, we've been loving Oh La la and have gone on Saturdays for ages. The mornings there have been exceptional: the Tavola Calda type of set up, wonderful baked goods, and great staff. The feeling of an independently owned place was so appealing. That's all gone: since the end of the summer its table service (uncomfortably so), new coffee mugs (where the staff doesn't account for the change in calibration from the artisanal mugs they had before, making the coffee taste watered down), awful (passively rude) greeters, and mundane uniforms now take over. Food arrives before the coffee (by 10-15 minutes). I miss the former set up which encouraged community vibes, the formerly knowledgeable staff no longer helps you at the counter in the decision making (their pastries were exceptional, but now feel almost chemical). Not sure what happened here, but feels more corporate and less about the locals and those who respected and loved it's the uniqueness. We seem to be unable to have nice things. It's sad to see the homey, welcoming feeling leave; even the staff feels distance and disengaged. The former gem is gone. Whatever algorithm they are using to make decisions killed all the charm and its former glory. Such a shame and a total loss. read more

Went here for the first time on a Sunday around 10:30am, which I know is prime time for breakfast. I have no problem waiting in line, but what I found odd is when you get to your turn and order a sandwich and pastry, they just hand it to you and you awkwardly have to hold it until you get to the register. It was also a bit confusing because i didn't know if i needed to order the food/coffee from the register or when they take your order in line. Secondly, we had ordered eggs Benedict and waited over an hour - to which it never arrived. Apparently there was a mix up and my husband had to go up twice to ask and the second time just requested to get a refund so we could leave. I did enjoy the coffee and the turkey sandwich I got, but I do wish they heated up the sandwich and pastries (we got the monkey bread and chocolate croissant) because they were kind of hard. read more

We were excited to try Oh La La Cafe in Pasadena for brunch. The line was long, but was pretty manageable. The baked goods looked very appetizing so I ordered a raspberry almond tart, salmon eggs benedict, a breakfast burrito and a ginger turmeric latte. Our food came out after 45 minutes and by this time our raspberry almond tart was almost finished. We were hungry to say the least. I had to follow-up on my order thinking they may have forgotten. Our food finally came out and I was eager to eat. Food looked good, but I was so disappointed with the salmon eggs benedict. Why? The yolks on my eggs were hard boiled eggs. I have eaten eggs benedict in so many restaurants in LA and in other cities, and countries and never were the yolks hard boiled. Never! I spoke to a lady behind the counter and what was initially said to me was "Sorry, we are just so busy." Really? She then offered to have the eggs redone, but I refused. I have never sent back food to the kitchen in the past and I know better not to do so from hearing all the horror stories. Anyway, I ended up eating my food so as not to waste it. The quality of my breakfast croissant was delicious. The bacon made it 10x better. I would recommend it and this sandwich was also filling. I hadn't had anything to eat all morning and after eating this sandwich I was full. The service is standard. What I expect from a place like this. The ambiance is also what I expect. I would compare it to a panera bread. Overall they keep the place clean. They could improve upon ensuring the chairs and booths are wiped down after a guest leave. And that the floor is swipped. But other than that, everything else is cool. I like seeing the workers make the food. The music they play is also PERFECT for this place. I hate being in restaurants these days and the music doesn't match the restaurant style. Their music doesn't have any vulgar language and it doesn't give you club vibes. This place finally reopened! The first thing I bought was the Crookie and Focaccio Turkey sandwich and boy boy! The Crookie (croissant and cookie) is amazing, it happened to still be warm. The server asked me whether I wanted it warm, and I did, but it came to my table like it had just been plugged out of the fridge, even the bacon was cold. The roll didn't taste fresh at all, they may have done better just cutting slices from their loaves. I did get a half loaf of their country sourdough to go that was definitely fresher and tasted like real bread. Not recommended for sandwiches. Try their bread loaves from the bakery. read more

They are the real deal! Stopped by near closing time and most of the pastries were gone (note to self & others - come early!). They still had croissants, baguettes, rye and the star of the day, the orange blossom. The orange blossom pairs perfectly with an espresso, it's truly unique and very French. The baguette is made to perfection. Service was spot on too, very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the breakfast burrito that wasn't very good, the veggie quiche that was delicious, the double chocolate pb cookie that wasn't very good, the monkey bread that was just okay, a maple sea salt latte that was good but not very maple sea salty, and a regular black coffee. With a tip it was $70.00. I won't be back. Most of the order was mediocre. The restaurant is really beautiful though and the service was good. Having lived in France for many years, I can say that these are not the best croissants. LA has plenty of mediocre croissants. I was hoping for something better. I feel sorry for the reviewers claiming they are just like what they've had in Paris. It's true that there are bad croissants there too. But there are also correct croissants. Do your research. Go to Proof for the very best croissants in LA. Tartine is fine but outrageously expensive. The croissants here are more bready than flaky and somehow slightly salty. What a disappointment that there wasn't any fougasse which is actually a specialty in Provence where the chef is from. Maybe someday I can get some here. read more

I REALLY wanted to like this place (I've been dying for a replacement for Bianaca on the Westside for a while--we just refuse to deal with Westside traffic and crime at this point). In fact I wanted to like it so much that I came four times trying to be convinced that it was our new favorite spot. Unfortunately, this just was not the case. First off, the biggest issue is that each time we have gone (roughly after 1 PM on weekdays) they are almost completely sold out of pastries. I can appreciate that there is demand but if you are consistently sold out hours before closing that means management is not doing a good job of planning. It's not easy to find parking and sometimes we walk over from Uovo or Granville and they are totally sold out of everything in their pastry case. The few things we have been able to snag across those four visits just weren't that good. The croissants were okay but Car down the street is better. The monkey pull-apart bread was hard as a rock and not enjoyable at all. The choux was sunken and hard. The cookies were mediocre at best. The one thing I liked, a gooey lemon merengue tarte, is apparently no longer available on weekdays and only available on weekends. Seriously?! I will say the customer service has been excellent. We've been offered free treats when I expressed disappointment at yet again another visit with almost no offerings available. I appreciate the attempt to make it right but the thing is the free treats were just not very good. My daughter and fellow foodie basically said we needed to give up and call this place a loss. Potato Gravlax was very disappointing . I am very new to Pasadena and trying different restaurants . I'v been here once before and it was ok so I wanted to give it a chance again . Potato's best freind is salt ! but no salt whatsoever in that potato . the dish looked very presentable however it tasted awful . Way too much of the whipped butter and cheese so tasted too buttery . I love a good bakery! Stopped in on Sunday afternoon. Little bit of a challenge to find parking. The staff were welcoming and kind. I had planned on getting pastries and hot food. The gentleman explained you pick your pastries and pay at the register and their you can order items off the menu. So I picked my items and walked to the register. I didn't know that I was suppose to take the box of pastries with me prior to paying for them . I definitely looked like a newbie. Ordered a breakfast burrito. So me and my sister went to Oh La La today, my sister ordered a English Breakfast tea and Eggs Benedict. She told me that her tea was way to over brewed and your only suppose to steep the loose teas for 3 minutes but they just threw the leaves in and served it. The Eggs Benedict: The bread was too crumbly and one of the eggs was over poached and not enough hollandaise sauce to smother the whole thing. She also got a bowl of fruit and it was SWIMMING in a pool of sugar water. I got a Pork Belly sandwich and it was okay nothing OMG worth. First let me say that I come here often and have not been disappointed by their consistent quality and service. Today, however, the service was above and beyond. I ordered a weekend special only to be told later that the special didn't start till an hour later but rather than refund me my money they told me that they were making it from scratch just for me. I grew up in England and travelled the UK & EU a lot. Something I really miss about living abroad are the cafes and how easy it is to pop into a store with your pup. We loved everything we ordered (croissant, lemon tart, croque madame and matcha latte). I wasn't disappointed by any of the food. The staff is very welcoming and pleasant The baked goods and food are designed beautifully and don't quite match the interior but that isn't a deal breaker for me. The cafe is clean, spacious and comfortable. Definitely LA prices but the servings are pretty generous. The side salad is really nice and not a basic garden type salad. I definitely plan on returning as a regular. Being so used to not being able to include my pup, I didn't realise they were a dog-friendly business until we left. Popped by since my French friend had said they had really good bread and croissants. I came around noon which was late for the pastries, there were no more almond croissants or vanilla choux pastries. The servers were super attentive and a few different ones asked if I wanted anything. Took a peek at their mains (surprised the bacon burrito was cheaper than the veggie burrito), but decided I still wanted a croissant and got one of the ham and cheese ones left at the pastry display counter. If not eating immediately, I highly recommend popping it a air fryer (or oven or microwave) to heat up and melt the cheese a bit. The croissant was beautifully buttery and flaky, so much so that I felt I destroyed it by cutting into it instead of just taking a bite. The ham and cheese were evenly distributed, and every bite got a bit of everything. It might be a bit hard to see from the road, since it's tucked in a bit to allow for a patio area. Street parking by it is your best bet. I'll be sure to visit earlier next time, and maybe will get a loaf for home! read more

This place is cute and has some pretty tasty treats. The food is also great. However, there are a few things here that just do not make any sense. Charging $1 for butter and an additional $1 for Jam seems a little ridiculous. I would expect to not be charged for these items if I order a plate that contains toast to begin with. Perhaps disclosing that these items aren't included while we are ordering would be great! Nothing worse than sitting down and receiving your meal only to be told I would need to pay if I want butter/Jam. It's a big cafe with French style breakfast foods, sandwiches, salads, and pastries. I ordered a lot of items in order to try them out. 1. Grilled Marinated Chicken sandwich - 9/10 My favorite. The sandwich had a lot of vegetables and there was salad on the side. 2. Stracciatella and Grilled Peach salad - 7/10 The salad was good. It was my first time trying a white looking salad dressing that I'm not used to. 3. Burrata and Grilled Asparagus toast - Interesting. 7/10 I got this because I didn't want to get regular avocado toast. It was good. I just wasn't used to eating this type of toast. 4. Margherita Pizza - Good. 7/10 Huge slice. 5. Focaccia - Good. Huge slice. 7/10 6. Orange Blossom Fougassette - Good. Huge pastry. 7/10 7. Lemon Tarte - I'm not a fan of marshmallow-looking cream on top but I like the lemony taste of the tarte. 8. Chocolate Croissant - Good. 7/10 I felt the bread was pretty thick. 9. Brioche Roll - 10/10 Coconut slices on the outside and Passion Fruit sauce inside. Surprisingly, this was one of my favorites. Originally, I thought the inside was going to be really sweet but it wasn't at all. It was just the right amount of sweetness. I love this pastry. 10. Really enjoyed my breakfast here! Found the cafe on Yelp and couldn't be happier with it. It's roomy and open, with really cute decor. Both the savory and sweet breakfast items were fabulous, as well as their iced tea. The plain coffee is infused with another flavor (we couldn't put our finger on what it was), so if you're a coffee purist, keep that in mind.
