I thought the savory waffles were tasty and priced well. My only complaint is: I was still hungry when it was all done. I would have liked to have 2x as much waffle for maybe $1-2/more. Overall, though, I'm glad I went. read more

The service was bad enough not to ever come back! Placed a take out order and didn't get my food until everyone that had order behind me was already eating. And when I finally got it, it was cold. Oh! And our order wasn't even complete - they forgot the bacon. Sad because I used to love Off the Waffle. read more

Visiting Eugene and tried this place based on the reviews we've seen. We had waffles and omelettes which were okay, but nothing to write home about. The eggs were literally smothered in basil leaves (which we didn't ask for) but otherwise bland tasting. We were also very surprised to be charged "extra" for butter and syrup...for "waffles" mind you. The vibe is almost entirely hipster/student focused and it just seems the place tries too hard to be "cool". As for the waffles themselves, too crusty and tough - but like the eggs, "okay" if you're really hungry. For 30.00 you can find better. read more

Parking was easy to find. They only had one person working until around 10 so the wait time for ordering and the for the food were a little slow. The waffles are very filling and could use some flavor to them. read more

OK - the waffles are great and well worth the wait - providing, of course, you don't have anywhere to be anytime soon. Seriously, dude, you have to figure out a way to speed up the process. Really. I still can't figure out what the hold up was because the smily, fresh-faced waffle flipper cranked out 12 tempting, taunting waffles while we were standing there staring. There were four of us waiting for a total of just four waffles and it took more than fifteen minutes to get our order. That is ridiculous! I'm not sure what the waffle-stuffing guy in back was doing, but maybe he got sucked into the vortex that is created when you combine goat cheese, pistachios and cardamom (Habib waffle) or fell into the delightful coma of scrumptiousness that is the Overachiever (banana and chocolate chips). Granted, the waffles were warm, fresh and ultimately tasty, but for a wait that long, they better be. This was a cart in a busy area near campus and I seriously doubt that students late for class will have the time to dawdle on the sidewalk while waiting for their waffley scrumptiousness, especially if its raining. But, then again, it might be a good enough reason to skip... read more

I loved my waffle with havarti and egg and bacon. Great for kids as well. Off the chain waffles with a cool Eugene vibe.

Sweet and Savory. I really don't have to elaborate, but I will anyway. I thought the food was delicious, and the the outdoor seating with a little covering was perfect for a warm morning after a hike. I think it would get pretty crowded inside during the cold winter months, and the inside space could use a little revamping, but it's still delicious food. The waitresses were all very sweet, and worked really hard. I'll go back! read more

Ah, thank you yelp and yelpers for much needed breakfast recommendation! What I like about this place is the environment. Good people, books, waffle art on the walls, and a lot to look at. The waffle was amazingly good. I have never had a waffle with such taste built in! No need to smother these in syrup like the ego's my father used to buy and burn the shit out of in the toaster. Oh, I also need to figure out where creamer comes from for the coffee? Somebody tell me because it is amazing. read more

I love this place! Their waffles are absolutely amazing. you can take home 6 waffles for $12 too which I highly recommend. really, anything on their menu is absolutely worth it! read more

Well hello favorite waffle I didn't know existed! My goodness that was delicious. The waffle itself was one of the best I've had and their toppings are amazingly creative. Sliced apple, havarti cheese and cinnamon on top of a waffle!? Amazing! Runny egg and bacon atop another...perfect! How this place has less than 5 stars is beyond me. Go here!!! read more

With their new location on Willamette street, Off the Waffle totally mixed things up. Now, they have a full menu, and actual tables to sit at. They seem to be going for the real restaurant experience, which is what I've always wanted from them. Quality remains unchanged - simply wonderful, and their prices seem to have gone down a little bit. Service was the fastest I've ever had. I'll be back for brunch. Also open late night - a welcome addition to the neighborhood. read more

After refusing to eat at this half-baked concept restaurant (if you can call it a restaurant) for months, I finally decided to give it a chance. I now regret that decision to no end. I went on a Sunday morning, a day that in the breakfast restaurant world, is often a busy one. This is undisputed I am sure. Off the Waffle, however, seemed to be grossly under prepared for an average Sunday breakfast crowd; when we walked in, all two of the members of the waitstaff looked frantic. We didn't really grasp the whole 'order at the front' concept for the first few minutes, maybe because there are individual menus that are customarily used for SIT DOWN restaurants. Oh well, I went and found a table while my boyfriend ordered, when he came back he told me that only after he had paid, did the boy (and I mean BOY) at the register had told him it would be about a 30 minute wait for food. Awesome. I can't wait. 30 minutes for a f***ing waffle. Meanwhile the table I had found was dirty from the previous customers and no one had come by to even attempt to clean it. Finally I spotted once of the scarce high school aged waitstaff and despite feeling like I should ask him if he has his work permit, I instead asked him if he could clean our table. He said that the self bussing station was inside, pointed to it. It's not our mess, I had to clarify. This confused him for some time, then he finally agreed to clean it up, though I think he was still confused why I, the paying customer, wasn't cleaning up his restaurant for him. He looked like he had yet to take his SATs so I couldn't blame his somewhat lacking common sense skills. 25 minutes in, we started to get a bit restless, so I actually went to Metropol Bakery and bought a key lime tart to go to eat in the mean time. No one seemed to notice. I actually saw Metropol bread at another table, I guess it is common. Finally after 45 minutes, we were served. My waffle was supposed to have a runny, over easy egg on it, the egg was barely over medium. The waffle itself wasn't bad but the overall experience was horrific. I want to be taken care of at a restaurant, feel like I am in the hands of capable employees, this gave me none of those feelings. The prepubsecent waitstaff can only be blamed for their naivete so much, I myself was a 17 year old waitress, and I NEVER treated even the most difficult customer, half as bad as every customer was being treated in this entire establishment. This place is a joke. A cute idea turned rotten. Giving them money for them to treat you like dirt is a crime, don't do it. read more

You could compare Off the Waffle with any other waffle based restaurant in the country, but who is going to drive to Portland to get a waffle? Of all the local restaurants that serve waffles, this is hands down the most creative and interesting waffle menu in town. The South Eugene is a little tacky, but they added a nice area outside. If you go there and you see it is crowded, your order may take longer than usual. That is because so many people enjoy this tiny place and they attempt to satisfy all. Critics of the extra 75 cents for REAL maple syrup are missing the point. Maple syrup is optional. This place breaks traditions all over the place. One item includes honey. Including maple syrup would be redundant to some. You can bet if maple was included, people would complain they had to pay for it in the price when they didn't want it. Consider this place like a fine crepe restaurant rather than Denny's. Real food, original presentations, reasonable prices (one reviewer said $6 for a waffle. WRONG. Basic waffle is as of this writing $3), and sometimes long lines because it is so good. read more

Breakfast was fantastic! What this little gem lacks in ambiance is made up for in the food! I Highly recommend the Goat in Headlights! I practically licked the plate! Great taste, quality good food wonderfully prepared! When in Eugene you must go! read more

I want to start off by saying that I got the urge to register for a Yelp account only because I needed to express my feelings for Off the Waffle. Damn, I cannot believe I have never had a "Liege" waffle before--I feel like I haven't lived until now. The new waffle stand is practically visible from my house. I was excited when it opened to have a close, late night munchies spot especially because I didn't think anyone could ruin a waffle. I had no idea that these were not any old ordinary waffles until I tried one. Delicious. However, I would not suggest these as an actually breakfast item; more of a dessert, cure for munchies and/or drunchies, guilty pleasure or snack. I think what really gives these waffles their pizzaz is the caramelization of the sugar that forms a crunchy, yet chewy and not too crunchy, outter layer. I really don't even think the need any filling at all, the original and a glass of milk is perfect for me. read more

Off the Waffle makes the best waffles. Full stop. To the people who whine about syrup being extra....if you've never had an OTW waffle, you will soon learn that they are so sweet and loaded with secret Belgian voodoo that only a sugar glutton would feel the need to add syrup ( I always do) Also, they make a fantastic gluten free waffle which ain't easy. read more

Love the food here in general. I always get the self fulfilling profecy and usually looove it. Recently the waffles have been old tasting and its hard to rationalize paying as much as we do when we go there. We've gone less since we had less perfect waffles for over $20. read more

I drove to Eugene from Corvallis, so I was pretty hungry by the time my boyfriend and I arrived at Off the Waffle. We both each got a savory waffle. They were both delicious! I got the BMB with a sunny side up egg on top of course. My boyfriend got the Self Fulfilling Prophecy with the cheese. I should of ordered another waffle of something else because I didn't get too full off of just one. I would definitely come back again if I'm ever in Eugene. read more

You definitely have to visit this place if you are in eugene. I found it with the help of the yelpers. NOt only is the waffle freakin delicious but the experience is one to be had. It's like stoppin in at your friends house to grab a breakfast waffle and hang at the dinning table to eat it. They aren't lying either about having the best milk in town, it's the real deal. People disappear behind the red vail and reappear at random and the atmosphere is so "who gives a s&^%" it's hilarious. Definitely go in. the waffle seems small at first but it was actually perfect for breakfast. I had a strawberry and pistachio waffle. delicious. read more

I love the waffles! They are so delicious it's insane. The combinations that they have come up with are intriguing and yummy! I've gone to Off the waffle multiple times and plan to go back. The No Really Though is my favorite. The coffee isn't great but I am a snob when it comes to coffee. read more

This was a very creative menu of waffles. I actually went for a savory waffle with pork belly and havarti on it which was an unusual choice for me. My instictual said stick with a sweet waffle that is in your comfort zone. I'm so glad I didnt. It was delicious and out of the box read more

I love the goat in the headlights. The flavor sets are unique and the waffles are very tasty. Great place to go if you want to try something totally different! read more

We don't eat here often, mostly because I like to watch my sugar intake. That said, there are savory options that work for me, and typical waffle-waffles that work for my daughter. If you are looking for Sherry's or Denny's prices then go there. Off the Waffle is mid-range for pricing. The atmosphere is quirky. I absolutely love this location over the original Whitaker-located crazy house. It took forever to get a waffle at the original location. Serving times are still a touch on the high end, and I'm not quite sure why--perhaps it's understaffed? That said, well worth visiting at least once. read more

Gluten free waffles to die for! So glad I drove way out of my to find this place! Do it! So worth it.

Pretty much the best breakfast I've ever eaten. The place is constantly packed it seems. Of course I was there on a Sunday, but managed to find a spot. The waffles were great, service was relatively fast and very friendly. read more

This is a seat-yourself, order at the counter place. There isn't anyone or any signs to tell you this and it is in a strip mall, as well. But the food is really good and the orange juice was great. Also, you serve your own water and silverware/napkins. read more

This is truly a special place. I am moving from Eugene soon, and Off the Waffle will be one of the few places I'll sincerely miss. I crave these waffles, their richness and caramelized goodness. The waffles here deserve five stars, but I subtract a star for wait time: both times I've been here, the wait has been a little too long for a take-out waffle. The waiting area (with all the customer drawings and bartering notes, etc.) is a nice touch, but I wonder if there's a way to speed up the waffle-making process without compromising the product. For example, last time we went, the dough needed a half-hour more time to sit before it could be cooked. A half-hour is a long wait for a little waffle, but we stayed and played UNO. Regardless: highly recommended. read more

The waffles are what make this place. I think the owners are still getting used to running a business because they lacked some order. I wasn't a huge fan of their establishment but think their location on Willamette should provide a better eating experience for most. All things considered when the waffles were done I could have cared less where they were made. read more

While in town visiting my sister we headed to Off the Waffle. There was a bit of a line, but it moved fast and we were able to find some lovely seating outdoors. Five us tried five different types of waffles and they were all amazing! From sweet to savory each one was a treat. I will be heading back next time I am in Eugene. read more

Holy guacamole. This place.... No words, except of course get the savory waffles that's where it's at.

Loved it here. The waffles themselves are delicious, the toppings are creative and go surprisingly well together, and you will leave this restaurant feeling full and very surprised by the good you just ate. One of the best breakfast spots in Eugene, in my opinion. Different & delicious. read more

The idea of this place is amazing but in my opinion its over priced for the size of the waffle. The new stuffers (that aren't exactly stuffed) were a complete let down, there was hardly 3 or 4 tiny pieces of pork in mine....all the negative feed back I'm reading is spot on. Id say maybe, just maybe worth giving it a shot IF using a buy one get one coupon, to kill curiosity, and make you're own judgment. read more

I'm not really a fan of pancakes and waffles but this place had a interesting enough menu that made me want to try it. I tried the "goat in the headlights". I like how it was savory that countered the sweetness of the liege waffles. I would definitely comeback and try some more item from the menu. The only bad thing about it was the place was not cozy and the seats were kind of uncomfortable and you have to walk outside for the restroom. read more

I really don't like waffles that much, but I did enjoy these. Great selection and a good price. The employees were fun. Worth trying.

DO NOT GET BRAISED PORK. It kinda ruined my meal. The Self-Fulfilling Prophecy was amazing and perfect. I highly recommend that, but the braised pork was $5 for 2 strips, and they were pure unseasoned fat. Disgusting. Don't get me wrong I put 4 stars because the waffle was good, but I would never get the braised pork. read more

Visiting our daughter at the U of O last weekend and stopped in here for breakfast. Overall the people were nice and the food was very good. My daughter ask for her eggs scrambled, but when the food arrived hers were sunny side up (their standard). No big deal, everyone makes mistakes. However, when she mentioned this to the waitress, the waitress left and then came back to say "the ticket didn't say the eggs were to be scrambled." I said I'm sorry the person who took the order made a mistake, but would she please bring an order of scrambled eggs - we'd even pay for it if necessary. ALMOST 20 MINUTES LATER the eggs finally arrived - and were undercooked. :( My daughter ate as much as she could around the edges and then finally gave up. Mistakes are understandable and no big deal - it's about how they're handled and they completely failed. read more

This was dissapointing. This was my second visit and both had some serious issues. My first time I brought family from out of town, they were far from impressed. Both times they were out of ingredients for some of the menu items. This was a bigger deal this 2nd time around because the menu was significantly downsized. The dish my girlfriend wanted was no longer on the menu and the new one is kind of sparse, we discussed going somewhere else but decided to stay. I ordered a chocolate milk to drink and they didn't add it to the order. I went to the counter and re-ordered it paying separately. They did not bring it to me before we finished eating (about 15 minutes) and I was impatient enough that we just left. Waffles are OK, nothing special, would not have gone back if we knew the item my girlfriend wanted was no longer on the menu. read more

When we walked into this place, the owner (guy with wild hair) was having a discussion with a customer about going to Colombia to learn Spanish. I realize this has nothing to do with waffles, but it made me like the place before I even tried the waffles. It's a neighborhood joint--people chat with one another while they wait, which I really wish happened more often. You do have to wait for awhile, but the waffles are...freaking amazing. Mango sorbet in a waffle? Genius. The original waffle was also delicious (and only three bucks). It might be my favorite breakfast in Eugene. read more

Awesome! BMB is definitely my favorite so far. Total orgasm in the mouth.

Because OTW is a bit out of our neck of the woods, and a special sweet treat, we don't get here often. But we had a 5 person family visit the other day and the food was outstanding all around. There were 3 Goat in Headlights prepared and everyone was pleased. I hadn't yet mixed up the savory with the sweet waffle and I was very impressed. The place was packed on a Saturday and luckily we managed to get seats right away. I think the new layout is what has inspired me to update my review. You can tell the updated layout was well intended. Perhaps to polish the place and provide a more organized and efficient seating for busier times. I like the cushy black booths and the logoed menus are sharp. What I did not like was trying to maneuver inside the cafe either to get water, top off a coffee cup, or bus my table. We actually didn't even bus our table because it was so claustrophobic feeling by the time we left I didn't want to try to push myself through the seating maze and past a full line to the door, especially with dishes. I think if they removed one booth against the middle of the wall near the video game machine, this would make it much easier to get around for the reasons stated above. Anyway, given how busy it was, I was impressed with the speed in which the food came out, all very delicious. I guess given that we are infrequent visitors, the crowd control is not that big a deal to put up with for the occasion. But if we were more frequent visitors, I'd be inclined to skip dining in during busier times to avoid the clutter of the dining room. Perhaps that is just what I get for going Saturday morning. Luckily their waffles taste just as terrific when you take them home frozen and make them in your toaster. read more
