I really wanted to try this Cajun shrimp bowl. I was worried that it would leave after lent so I was very pleasantly surprised to see it's still an option at the end of April. The bowl is pretty good, I do wish it came with more of the roasted or grilled vegetables. I find that other than rice and shrimp, the bowl had the most iceberg lettuce which just isn't nearly as exciting as carrots or broccoli, etc where there were only 5 pieces. Not estimating here - that's how many it came with total. I really loved the pepper jelly on the shrimp and the sauce that came on the whole bowl so overall I would order it again because it's a great if you want a light but tasty meal. Literally my ONLY complaint is the price. I'm always shocked how much we end up spending when we eat here. We order and get to the window and they tell us the price and I want to cry but I don't and I just pay for it anyway lol. Me and my boyfriend each get a meal and add on an extra side or 2 and it comes out to be $50-$60. Not insane but for a drive through, it's a bit steep. The food is usually perfect. Here and there the rice in the beans is hard which ruins it but besides that I've had no major issues. Off the Hook is right! They opened the first one in BR on Corporate a little over 2 years ago. This Cajun fast food concept has plenty of delicious options to choose from. I went with the chicken and sausage gumbo, and the chicken tenders platter w/ honey mustard. Located on Corporate, this is perfectly situated among a myriad of other food options. The only thing they have that's different? A drive thru of course. It was a small wait because certain things are being made fresh to order. The tenders, however, weren't one of those things. I was surprised by how thick and flavorful they were but 1. They were just warm, while the fries and hush puppies were hot, and 2. After a while I grew tired of chewing because the tenders were so big. Now, the thought of gumbo at a fast food restaurant is kinda sketch, but OTH did this justice! It was the right amount of meat, rice and gumbo for someone recovering from being sick. All in all, the convenience to home, and the food itself makes it worth another visit. I really enjoy this place so much so that I'm a regular patron stopping by 2/4 times a week. Last nite visit wasn't up to par. As always, it was fast and friendly but my burgers weren't great. The meat had a strange after taste that I couldn't identify and in general they were mediocre at best. Lesson learned! Everything else that I've eaten has been great. Fries last nite were cold. I really like their fries but not cold. The last bit of feedback, the lady at drive thru gave me a clipboard to sign my receipt??? But noticed that there was a line to add a tip. However, if you go there with extremely low expectations, you can certainly expect to have your expectations met. Save yourself some time and money. Stay home and eat canned cat food. This location of Off The Hook is hard to get to, yes. There is NO back road that gets you to the shared exit to College Drive (by Waffle House/Port Royal) or to the road behind the restaurant, Bankers Ave... and that's unfortunate! The food is absolutely worth it! Drive-thru crawfish etouffee, gumbo, and swamp fries will forever give me a reason to battle traffic for this location. Their po-boys are good, but will forever be second tier because I can't add sliced cheese to my poboy - they only offer shredded cheese (and charge a hefty additional fee for a measly amount of it!) Customer Service: Took a star off because of this - they completely screwed up 1 of 2 poboys we ordered. We ate inside, so we were able to bring this to their attention and get it fixed. I'm still on the fence about Off the Hook. I love the concept, and I have been trying to get over there for some time. I finally made it one Saturday afternoon. I browsed the menu ahead of time and took the suggestions of the internet to heart. I decided on one of their shrimp wraps. The line moved very slowly, but i thought maybe the food takes a little longer than usual being that it is seafood. When I finally got my order, the line was really long behind me, so against my usual practice, I didn't check the bag. I drove home - about 10 or minutes and realized I did not get my order. Rather, I got a dessert. I should have checked and shame on me, but I didn't. So I headed back down the road. When I got there, the staff took a minute to get to me but said there was a bag by the drive thru window and handed it to me. The supervisor asked me to hold on and he swapped out the fries for some they were making - but that took about another 10 minutes. I probably should have asked them to make a new wrap because now it's over 30 minutes since it was made. It was good but it lacked the sauce flavor it was supposed to have and the shrimp were cool and the garnishes were room temp. They told me to keep the dessert which was some sort of a sweet bread - it was good, but super sweet so I only had a little. I tried to go again the other day, and I got in line and sat there for about 20 minutes only moving up one car and still way far back in the line. I hadn't budgeted out that much time for lunch so I had to head out. So I'm still on the fence, but I hope to make up my mind with a visit again soon. read more

My boyfriend had received a gift card to Off The Hook recently so we decided to give it a try. We were both skeptical at first because of the idea of a fast food seafood restaurant doesn't sound super appealing. But, we were proven completely wrong! I ordered the shrimp platter and my boyfriend ordered the shrimp wrap. Our food was hot and fresh and it was so so good. I was shocked at how fresh everything was and how flavorful. The fries alone were to die for with their blackened ranch. I liked my boyfriend's wrap as well, but something about the fried shrimp on their own were my favorite! They gave such a decent amount of fries for each meal and they didn't skimp on the shrimp either. The hushpuppies were also delicious and were hot and perfect with some butter. The restaurant was clean and I really enjoyed our time here. Don't let the idea of fast food seafood scare you, this one's worth it! We will for sure be back soon! read more

Sooo, I'm usually skeptical of drive-through seafood but I was actually impressed with the prices, quality, and taste of Off the Hook! I wasn't very hungry so I went for the kids shrimp meal ( which was enough food for me), it includes fried shrimp, fries, hush puppies and a drink for $7. Since it was my first time I also ordered seafood gumbo. I give the kids meal a 8/10 for overall taste and quantity. I rate the gumbo a strong 7/10, the only thing that would've made it better was MORE seafood, lol. But I will definitely be returning to try more. read more

Fast and fresh seafood is what you'll find here. The service was good too! We tried the fish platter, the etouffee, the fried shrimp wrap and the bread pudding. All got two thumbs up. The shrimp wrap was really tasty, and I would absolutely get it again. It was a good size but not too much. The fish platter was plentiful--the fries were hot and crispy and the hush puppies were sweet, crunchy and just really good! I did not try the etouffee or the bread pudding because I was already full but it absolutely passed the sight test. Next time I'll be sure to save room for that, and my daughter enjoyed all of it. Best of all, the food is really a good value. With the cost of food skyrocketing lately--we got all of that for $40-and that means we will be repeat customers. Ashley Hicks promised me a refund that she never fulfilled, because I live across town and can't go back there. My issue was the lid of my soup was completely cracked with pieces of plastic being in the gumbo. I asked for rice on the side and the rice was inside the gumbo the last 3 times I went. And there is barely any meat in the chicken gumbo! I pulled all of it out to count, and there was 3 pieces of chicken & 2 pieces of sausage. Such a scam. Give me my refund! I've passed by this place got the past two weeks and wondered about it. Tonight, I was tired from exercise and didn't want to go far from where I was staying. Tonight was the night to give them a try. To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. It was good. Damned good. I had a cup of chicken sausage gumbo and a small bread pudding. The gumbo was filled with chicken and sausage with a roux that was thick and savory. The clerk offered me packs of Louisiana Hot Sauce for extra flavor. While the gumbo was good alone, it was even better with the hot sauce (BTW, I'm a Tabasco guy). The bread pudding was in chunks, swimming in a mixture of sweet rum sauce and pecans. So happy to see a business in this former Cane's location. Unfortunately the same traffic woes that I'm sure plagued Cane's have not been solved but Off the Hook might be worth the aggravation. 5 stars for the staff and service and a 3. 5 for the food make it a solid lunch option. The staff are fast and super friendly while the food is good it's not quite as good as it could be. I sampled the fried shrimp, fries, boiled shrimp wrap, seafood gumbo, hush puppies and potato salad at various times and while all were fresh the gumbo had a good flavor but the rice to roux ratio was way off with it more resembling rice and gravy and it needed a little more spice for my taste. The fried shrimp were fresh and hot but need to cook a minute more and lacked seasoning as well. The boiled shrimp wrap was good but I would have loved the option of a cheese other than shredded. The potato salad was definitely of the homemade but again was lacking any flavor. The fries on the other hand were very good and of the Cajun variety. The real star for me were the 2 hush puppies that found their way into my the bottom of my fries cup and were sweet and delicious. read more

Honestly I should give them 2 stars but because they've been open just a couple of weeks I'm bumping them up. First, their customer service was / is less than stellar.I was treated like a person that was an annoyance. Granted, I did order things a bit weird but still, I'M THE CUSTOMER. Today I go to the front counter to order for myself and my staff and a nice young lady with reddish dreads walks to the counter to take my order but she's also working drive thru too. She asked her coworker, an older man who looked like a manager, to take my order but he didn't come immediately. He finished cleaning the lobby, finally came behind the counter and started cleaning trays. Never acknowledged me or said anything. When the nice young lady returned, she asked him if her had serviced me, he said "No because she's on the phone." Yes, I was on the phone because 3 of my employees have food allergies and I didn't know what their meals contained. There was no sign that stated they didn't take orders while on the phone.
