glad I gave ODIE's PIZZA a second try. much better experience this time. ordered a 16" New York-style, BENNY and THE JETS: aged mozzarella, soppressata, hot honey, sea salt, whipped burrata, and fresh basil and subbed vodka sauce (instead of EVOO) for the base. the whipped burrata (stracciatella) comes separately so you can top your pizza last minute. burrata's wet and if added early, you'll wind up with extra soggy slices. still not a fan of floppy (giant Neopolitan-style) pizza but that's personal preference and shouldn't be the only standard for the entire experience. also, not wild about their AI-assisted phone ordering system. gets seriously janky when you want to change sauces. the offset is without exception, every live person I dealt with was amazing. even though the dough's cold fermented for a couple of days, would say it's a stretch to call it sourdough if there's dry yeast and not sourdough starter for the rise (which I'm guessing is the case). yeah, more nitpicks. anyway, enjoyed the pizza enough to bump the rating from three to five stars. read more

We noticed this pizza shop during a recent trip to Oceanside Pier area and my wife wanted to try their sourdough pies. So when the opportunity presented itself we headed that way to check it out. Parking is usually tricky near the Oside coast, but we got lucky with a street spot very nearby. The shop was pretty busy, but we got seats on the bar. We came in within happy hour time and were able to get $2 off our brews. For the pie, we got the recommended Dude Ranch with bacon on one half. I'm not usually one that likes ranch dressing on my food, but this was definitely a winner. Everything balanced really well in the flavor combination of bacon, chicken, BBQ, and a drizzle of ranch. Our first time visiting this place in downtown Oceanside. The location is great. It's a few blocks from the beach a few blocks from the rest of downtown. Upon entering you instantly get the fun vibe and it has an old school late 80's skater inspiration feel to the design of the shop. The service is good, and they have a good selection of local beers on tap. The pizza is great. They are known for their sourdough crust and everything is stone baked. You are able to order 1/2 of one pizza style with another as long you keep the same spice throughout the pie. We ordered 1/2 harvest moon and the other half Biggie smalls. They have whole pies (New York-style and Grandma-style aka square) as well as individual slices. I opted for a few slices of Harvest Moon and the classic Pepperoni. We came here on our weekend getaway in Oceanside. Odie's Pizza consistently always had a line, so we decided to order for lunch and take advantage of the lunch special of either two slices, or one slice and a side. Both options come with drinks. They know about celiac/gluten allergies and make an AMAZING gluten free crust, load it with toppings, and it's make in the same time as a regular pie. Chopped Salad that comprises of Romaine lettuce, chickpea, tomato,red onion, pepperoni, mozzarella pearls with a Lemon Herb Vinaigrette was a great choice since we wanted some meat. Freshness was evident with all the vibrant colors in this salad. Benny & the Jets pizza-not your typical pizza w/Hot Honey that complimented the Evoo base, mozzarella,sopressata, whipped burrata, fresh basil & sea salt. I finally made it to Odie's Pizza in Oceanside, just a short walk from the pier. We parked in the free parking structure nearby and walked over. The amazing smell coming from the restaurant is what first caught our attention and drew us in. The restaurant has a small dining area with garage door style windows that were open while we were there, giving it a fun indoor outdoor vibe. I could see it being really cozy with the doors closed on a cooler day. I love that they offer pizza by the slice, which makes it easy to try different flavors. We came in on a Monday evening a couple of hours before closing, but they were no longer serving the specialty slices, only cheese and pepperoni. I was a little disappointed since I had been hoping to try one of the specialty pizzas. We ordered pepperoni slices with ranch on the side and hot honey on one of them. The service was friendly and fast, and even though the restaurant was packed, our group of five was able to find a table. The ranch was fantastic and herby and definitely housemade , and the pizza... wow. It was so good! I loved the crust, the flavor was excellent, and it wasn't overly greasy. The food was delivered on time , hot as promised, and the driver was pleasant too. The Bennie and the Jets Pizza was my favorite. The Whipped Burrata came in a container on the side so that it wasn't melted. Very nice! My fear was that the Hot Honey would be too spicy. Not at all, the Hot Honey was a perfect compliment to the Sopressata. Also, the sourdough crust was very flavorful and had a perfect texture. The Basil was super fresh too. I don't really care for Chicken Wings, but I ordered them to try. The Wings with a BBQ Dry Rub were delicious and crispy. Not greasy. My regular pizza place has been 'temporarily closed' for some time now, and that really sucks. So lately, we have been trying to find a new, Friday-night pizza delivery place. We tried Odies. We ordered the NY 16" 'Welcome to Paradise' add Sausage to 1/2... $38.47. While we liked the crust very much, there were a few other problems with the pizza. The sauce is too sweet for our tastes; I wanted the sausage on my half, but turns out, I just don't care for their sausage brand's taste or type. I've been enjoying Odie's since last summer (2025) and consider it to be the best pie in town! The past few months have taken a nose dive, in my opinion on two things: pizza and customer service. The pizza was usually super crispy and exactly how it should be! The past few months something happened and I'm not sure what... the pizza is being rushed through the ovens which is producing a barely done pie; it is no longer crispy the way it used to be. I know because one of the main reasons I started going only to Odie's was the signature crisp from a slow(er) cooking time. I'm not sure if the pizza is on a belt fed conveyor or oven but something is off, off. I have been to Odies at least 3 times in the past 8 weeks and it would be more but the pizza isn't the same. I'm not sure if the staff is cranking them out to meet demand since Odies is always jam packed! Not sure what the cooking process is but whatever it is right now isn't what it was and it was the highest standard. Customer service. Ever since Sarah was promoted and left, the staff/crew has taken a step or two back. It's a super young staff and every time I have come in, the long faces, lack of enthusiasm and the disparaging stares makes the vibe feel like they don't want to be there nor want people/anyone to be there. Bummer. Both of these issues are concerning. Especially because we are talking about $25-30 for a pizza. Which I never minded paying- until lately where I can definitely say- Odies isn't worth it anymore. The past three times, I order to go or end up taking it home after stopping in intending to dine-in in order to pop my slices in my air oven to get crispy to what it would normally be; which I shouldnt have to do. I'm actually super bummed because this place has been the best spot in town for hot, crispy, reliable pizza. I was a regular at Korner Pizza and I may have to go back because at this point, they are serving way better cooked pizza consistently and most of their staff is pleasant and look like they enjoy being there. Something is WAY OFF at Odie's. I'm letting you know because I care. I love your business, love your pizza and loved the vibe. Someone from HQ needs to come in and take a look for a few days. Check the ovens, check the staff and check the AC. A couple weeks back I went in and not only was the pizza off, staff off, the AC was either broken or off & the giant windows/doors were closed. Heard good things about Odie's, so we thought we'd give it a go... Ordered online for pickup - a build-your-own (BYO) NY-style pizza, half-cheese, half-pepperoni. Made our way down there 15 minutes later, had to wait about 10 minutes for the pizza no biggie (we got lucky with parking but it's a bit tricky as that area is pretty crowded on weekend evenings). The restaurant was packed, cool and comfortable decor (some OG skate decks on the wall), plenty of open space and fresh air flowing. Would definitely have eaten at the restaurant had time permitted. Staff was very friendly and helpful, even gave us some extra ranch dressings without charging us (which many places don't do). which was very appreciated. Also noticed they had many beers in top, had ice cream and soft serve offerings for dessert, and some signs posted around the restaurant advertising some pretty good lunch specials. The pizza itself was pretty good. Super fresh toppings, sourdough crust which was very tasty but would have preferred a bit more char and crunch (probably need to order pizza a little well done next time). The cheese/sauce ratio was on point. The ranch dressing (I don't eat it with pizza - but wanted to taste it separately) was really good - fresh dill in it, which I am a fan of. Our experience started off great, first time there, pretty lively when we got in line to order. We ordered two pepperoni slices, a cesar salad, and some wings. Our salad and pizza arrived so we started eating and everything was delicious. Kept waiting for the wings, nothing came. My partner went to ask the girl we ordered from what happened to the food and they had confirmed there was a mix up and our wings were never made. We ended up asking for a refund since there wasn't any other options to assist us. The worker told us her manager was on break and we would have to wait until she was done. Since we had already been waiting and had somewhere else to be, we politely asked if they could comp us a couple of drinks for the inconvenience. When the manager, Dezzy, finally came to our table after her break, she apologized for the mix-up. We told her we completely understood that mistakes happen and even thanked her for comping our drinks while we waited. She smiled and walked away without ever addressing the refund. When I approached her to ask if she was still going to process the refund, she immediately responded with an attitude and said she would not issue it because we had received complimentary drinks. I explained that the drinks were only offered because we had been waiting 30 minutes for her to return from her break so she could process the refund. She argued that her employees were never supposed to give us the drinks, and I told her that was an issue to address with her staff, not the customer. Throughout the conversation, she repeatedly interrupted me and would not allow me to explain the situation. I eventually had to ask if she was going to let me speak. I informed her that I am also a manager and the way she was handling the issue was unprofessional. Rather than addressing my concerns, she questioned where I worked, which I pointed out was irrelevant. After a lengthy and unnecessary argument, she walked away and later returned with the refund receipt. She handed it to us without saying a word and left. The refund was eventually processed, but there was no apology, acknowledgment of the poor experience, or effort to properly resolve the situation. read more

If you have a large dog, it's nearly impossible to maneuver through people and tables. At first, we grabbed a table but it was in a high traffic area and we quickly moved to the patio where our large 74 pound puppers had a tad more room. Inside tip (and I hate to say it)- if you have a large dog, leave them at home. There's no room. :( We ordered the new york style, welcome to paradise. It's basically a classic pepperoni pizza. That's fine. It's exactly how I judge pizza. See, here's how I do it...you can throw a thousand toppings on a pizza, but if the crust, sauce, and cheese isn't good...you're basically just hiding it under all the toppings. So, going back to my roots... The pepperoni are the small pepperoni cups which seems the majority of California pizza places use. I've learned to overlook that. The crust- A picture is worth a thousand words. New York style crust should never flop like that. Ever. If I wasn't told it was sourdough crust, I wouldn't have known. Sauce- Meh. It was absolutely delicious!! it's not thick on bread, but it was super crunchy and crispy with a lot of flavor. They have self-serve sections where you can access plates, forks, and knives, crushed pepper and Parmesan, along with pre-folded boxes to go. The dining section inside is kind of small, they do have seating on the side patio. A lot of the seating are tall seats (high bar stools) and they are really high. I did notice some small families with strollers were struggling to find seating because they had a little ones. Me personally I was not a fan of the tall seats. TL;DR - the Viktor Vaughn is a pepperoni and pineapple pizza. It's really good! I'd come back to try their other options The pizza here is really good. Solid options and very quick service. We got the Viktor Vaughn which as red sauce, aged mozzarella, pepperoni, jalapenos, and PINAPPLE (don't judge me!). We had a random craving for pineapple pizza so we went with this. I love pepperoni and sausage so at least it had the pepperoni element lol. We ordered on their website and I started walking over a few minutes later from our hotel. It was a short walk and pick up was really easy. It was quite lively and noisy so you know this place is always popular (it's on the corner of the street after all). They got me my pizza real quick. The utensils, napkins, etc were located in the corner of the restaurant by the front door. I usually don't eat pizza with pineapple but this one hit the spot. My family and I happily enjoyed it in our hotel room and next time, we will try eating it at the restaurant itself. Theres so many other options there including root beer floats.
