Wanting Mexican for dinner tonight so decision where ? No Taco Bell lol so I looked on Yelp and I seen Auntie Nadine .C post . Must be ok so i ordered take out the lady over the phone said it will take about 15mins . Got there around 20minutes and YES my order was ready yay . Service was friendly and efficient. Ochos 888 is located on the corner of Kapahuluu and Kaimuki Ave. Parking is on Kaimuki Ave although very limited about 4-5 stalls behind the restaurant. I ordered their 2 chicken taco plate comes with Mexican rice and refried beans . The taco itself did not have taste so I added the Salsa and it was good . My wife had their chicken quesadilla which she said was very good . Support local

Nachos!! Yes! The cheese sauce was amazing! Chips fresh and crisp. Great service. Burrito was filled with great meat and beans! Super glad we decided to swing in to grab some yummy food!

love that there is Peruvian cuisine in town! There isn't a lot of these types of businesses here and i'm happy theres one nearby that's not an hours drive up north or to the west side. Their menu is pretty decently sized with lots of different things to choose from. we ordered the scallops which is presented flaming tableside and a mix of calamari and ceviche to start. Everything was delicious! the only thing is that the calamari got a little soggy since it's sitting on some of the ceviche juices, but the apps were delicious otherwise! For our entrees i got the loaded fries and my friend got a burrito bowl with asada. I think it would be nice if there was options to add on veggies or something to the bowl, but otherwise the entrees were great too! There is about 8 parking stalls in the back of the building which is great! kapahulu is known to not have any parking so this is a bonus! i also love that they are super dog friendly! i hope they get to stick around! this particular spot has a huge turnover and i've seen different businesses over time, so hopefully they do well because their food and service here is really good.

Great Latin/Mexican restaurant in Honolulu near Leonard's Bakery, Excellent service! I ordered the steak quesadilla's and they were prepared well and had a great flavor. Although the restaurant is small the tables were not close together. Service was fast, friendly and attentive.

This is a new place in Kapahulu that we wanted to try. We're from California and been craving for an authentic Mexican food. This was highly recommended from people around the area. Anyway, we tried yesterday and excited to try. We ordered the food on the pictures. We were happy we came during happy hour when tacos are only $4 ea. and the rest are $5 off. So anyway, the ambiance and location is great and does represent the borders!!! The lady who helped us is very friendly and hospitable! The price is very reasonable; however, the food was subpar. It did not look or taste like Mexican food. The cheese was watery and the nachos were soaked with too much soup. The tacos were also disappointing; the meat was too big and tough. I have to be honest and true to myself... I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

Not really a dive but a great hole in the wall establishment. Service was fast, friendly and accommodating. I opted for the Lomo Saltado and it was one of the best meals I've had in the last few days here in Waikiki. Honestly I chose this restaurant because of its location away from all the hustle and bustle of the Ala Moana center area. What a great decision as we arrived early enough to find a spot in their parking lot. It was also meant to be as I tried to go to Leonard's bakery this morning but kept on driving when I saw the line. Ochos 888 was a block away so I grabbed some Malasadas to enjoy after dinner. The place was full by the time we left so it's no secret they're serving up tasty fare. Highly recommend.

Had lunch and enjoyed great portions, awesome attentive service (with spot on recommendations) in a nice atmosphere. There was a little bit of ambient noise with cars on Kapahulu, but just grab a table in the back and it's not noticeable. Ordered the Parmesan scallops and steak fajitas and it was plenty of food for 2. The scallops were a standout and have a fun fire element for a wow moment. The fajitas were Ono - they offered both corn and flour tortillas with that dish and a delicious, well seasoned plate of rice and beans. Will definitely be back to try the ceviche and more of the Peruvian menu items next time!

Very clean and spacious interior! First time having a meal here and I also tried one of the cocktails. Paloma i believe it was called. Refreshing and dangerously delicious. Ordered that while the food was being made. Was able to Steak and Noodles to go! They sent me home in a homey brown paper bag with my meal inside. I opened the plate and my nostrils were woken, my taste buds were overstimulating. Just the smell of the dish, I knew it was gonna be beautiful. Took my first bite of the noodles first, loved it. Very different but love how it was made. Then the steaks and veggies separately. Steak nicely seasoned, the veggies also gave the kick that was there a nice blanket over. If that makes sense. Tried it both together and I'm ready to order again! Thanks ochos! Highly recommend.

Welcomed and seated by Andy - he offered one of the boys a sample of the chicha morada - try before you buy. It was so nice. And delicious! They really liked it! We easily found parking in the back. And are happily here for a first try on this friday night. This place is decorated for Halloween. So cute! The carnitas nachos and burrito were awesome, and the classic ceviche was on point. The fajita (veggies) were so flavorful and nice and steamy hot. The beer was cold and just what was needed to top it off! Looks like we found another Friday night stop!!

Thank goodness Ochos is better than the place that was here before. Alejandro's was terrible... Ochos has a really small menu of mostly ceviche, a few entrées like lomo saltado, tacos and burritos. The lomo saltado was disappointing--no real flavor to differentiate it from flank steak sauté with vegetables. The only real difference was that it was served on a bed of French fries. The tacos were tasty and the burrito was average and pricey. Service is a bit slow but friendly. Free parking in back or in the neighborhood.

Great place to go for authentic Peruvian cuisine - iniw i'm basing my review solely on what Inate: 1) the scallops - definitely a Lima dish. Yes Italians have had a huge influence on Peruvian dishes - so YES! Parmesan on top of scallops is a thing! 2) The ceviche - again seems to be more Lima influenced and yes you can request it tocbe mild medium or spicy - so it is worth the penny you spend! 3) Lomo Soltado - the history behind this dish is due to the Chinese immigrants in the 1800s; basically a beef stir fry with onions, tomato's, and yes anajo amarillo (think poblano pepper but yellow in color and very mild not a spicy pepper like chile or habanero. Very good but they need to incorporate anejo amarillo to this dish to make it complete - otherwise it just onions, tomato's and beef. and yes it has french fries stir fried into the dish as well traditionally. and is usually served with a bed of rice., 4) No Cusqueña or Inca Gold beers - i guess they had Cusqueña yesterday or the other day but sadly tonight no Cusqueña. And fro. what I saw no Inca Cola either! You fellow Coca Cola lovers - guess where Coca Cola comes from? Yup Peru!!!! The original Coca Cola recipes used the coca plants to make their Coca Cola - but because of the whole narcotic issues yeah they removed the coca ingredient but kept the name. They have the sacred Inca cross on the wall when you enter and can see it. Even the manager I educated him on what it actually meant. He was completely unaware of what the significance was - and was extremely impressed by my knowledge - and was very much appreciative of me explaining the Inca cross a fusion of cultures really. My barista - Was vmVERY impressed with her knowledge of all. She from a war torn country - getting better over there and she was very pleasant to speak with - and was impressed with her ability to speak fluent Spanish! Always like when others know more than 1 language outside of their native tongue!!!! Ooooh they even have merch you can purchase - trucker hats! Love supporting locals!!!!

Dinner in Kapahulu, Honolulu, Hawaii... My church friends and I decided to try this relatively new restaurant on the corner of Kaimuki Avenue and Kapahulu Avenue: Ochos 888 This space used to be the second location of Alejandros. (The original location of Alejandros is in Kalihi Valley.) We easily parked in one of the designated stalls on Kaimuki Avenue that's shared with its sister restaurant, Sunrise Shack, next door. We were seated under one of the televisions. The volume was up, so it was a bit loud and made conversation challenging. The interior is pleasant with a small stage for live music and other performances. Service by the female staff was friendly and efficient! The two male owners stopped by to check on us. Thank you! I got the Two Taco plate and chose a chicken and a steak taco. The double flour tortillas held the meats and seasonings well. The Pico de Gallo was spicy for me, but the rice and beans helped balance it out. The iced water was much appreciated! We had a great experience! My friends got the Peruvian Steak and Noodles dish - they liked it!

The location was perfect considering we got parking, staff was so friendly and welcoming. Love the owners- they both stopped by to welcome us and the food was on point- they know what they are doing here for sure so make sure u come hungry Love the big windows inside- we sat by the main road. Bathroom clean and smelled good- hey I know you need to ask with kids. Love the spot.... Don't sleep on this one.

The location off the beaten path is what originally drew me in. The exterior patio seating with blue umbrellas made me curious. Once I walked inside, I instantly knew the Cuban food was going to hit. Not only did it hit, it exploded into space and I returned 4 times on my vacation and recruited family members to go multiple times as well. On my first solo visit, I was going in to strictly get coffee and then decided to give a main dish a shot which was the traditional cuban. Let me tell you - I wish my husband was with me as the portions here are out of this world. This dish came out on a colorful dish on top of a bamboo board with fruit galore! It looked like a painting that I shouldn't touch but rightfully did. Needless to say, I had a leftover box on day 1. I then returned more times and want to highlight the Monte Castro sandwich which I fortunately or unfortunately split with my husband. Unreal!! It was drizzled in honey, served on the bamboo plate, had double decker bread and a plethora of fruit and some picked veggies on the side. I don't want to say more because I want everyone to go and split this meal with a loved one. It is award winning deserving. For my 3rd visit, I had the papaya bowl and once again - it was fantastic and required a to-go box as well. I'm so sad to know I'll never get to try the tres leche French toast as my vacation is coming to a close and there are so many more items I wanted to try. Castro's knows how to do it and I really think all restaurants should take notes from this establishment. From the water guns to spray the birds away to the dining service experience to the quality and taste of the menu item - chef's kiss. Thank you, thank you!!! Best meals in Hawaii hands down. The chicken thighs were beautifully seasoned and slightly charred. The meat was cooked all the way through yet still juicy with bone in thigh. The purple sticky rice was perfectly done and I love the texture of sticky rice in general. The plate also came with sliced cucumbers and pickled mustard greens (reminiscent of Vietnamese pickled mustard greens - but in a much more vibrant green color). My favorite part of the meal was the tart and aromatic sauce that came in the meal. If you're not a fan of lime juice and fish sauce, you may want to use sparingly. However, I was thoroughly enjoying the sauce and when accompanied with a bit of the mustard greens, it toned down the sour aspect of the flavor profile. This Eat the Street was pork and their main pork dish was Asado...unfortunately they ran out around 7pm when I got there, so I didn't get any pork. Lame. Anyways, onto the food! I decided to go with their Chicken Saltana. I honestly didn't read the description, but I remember that I wanted something reasonably cheap and somewhat healthy. Can't really go wrong with chicken, peppers, onions, salad and rice. I pride myself on only rating places on their food, unless their service or something else is just absolutely horrendously terrible. But I would like to mention that the wait for my plate was about 35 minutes...standing...in a crowded parking lot...hungry...and tired. I expected more from a food truck, I mean come on now, this isn't a sit down restaurant, you gotta get the order and make it quick and good. At least the live music was good and the moon was quite nice. Opening my plate, I see a pretty nice plate of food. Reasonable amount of chicken and peppers and onions, generous servings of rice and salad, and a little container of what appeared to be dressing. It was all spiced with what I assumed to be Peruvian spices and also cilantro and a sweet oil based sauce used to cover the chicken and veggies and rice. The chicken looked a little plain, but the sweet sauce and veggies and cilantro really went well with the juicy chicken and the Peruvian rice (Twas a little crispy/hard, but very tasty) was pretty delicious. However, the salad was just....bleh...The veggies were fine, but the dressing was basically salt incarnate...and I'm 80% sure I detected a hint of fish, which was not good at all. For $8.90 though...not bad for everything. Overall, pretty okay meal. Without the salad, I'd give it 3.5 stars. Not bad, but nothing too spectacular. I must remember to try the other trucks at Eat the Street next time, I didn't check Yelp to see which trucks were good at the event...and I believe it cost me this time. Oh well...there is always next time.
