I called them at least 8 times and left a few messages and finally got a live person once who was able to answer my questions, which I appreciate. BUT having to call that many times is NOT good service Ordered the chicken and rice, their version of fried rice and yuca frita. -Chicken fried rice was fairly tasty -yucca frittata-meh The MAIN issue is the chicken and rice. Two very small pieces of chicken thighs with bones and was 80% rice. Rice was tasty but chicken was very underdone and so none of it was safe to eat. For that price , the tiny pieces of chicken should be cooked. Also the chicken looked bland compared to the nice coloring in their advertising. I left a message with restaurant to report (was delivered thru DoorDash ) hoping they would make it right and at least apologize. Of course nothing like the other times I called Luckily door dash made it right and reimbursed me DO NOT RECOMMEND

Shame on me, Mimi's has been at this location since 2009 and only now I'm tasting how delicious their food is!! On a late Friday night, our party of five arrived to try dinner and most at our table never had Peruvian food before. We were seated at a long table nearest the front window, where Kathia went page by page of their picture menu to describe the ingredients and Peruvian flavors to first-timers. She is very patient and quite entertaining as well :) This was such a delicious experience! We started with the classic ceviche mahimahi with freshly squeezed lime. I've had ceviche before but Mimi's recipe is bold and full of spice. I loved this incredible appetizer and have a deeper appreciation for this Peruvian traditional dish. Will totally order this again! Another great appetizer was their yucca frita. A two-step process, they steam cassava root slices and then deep fry it. This was served with a cheesy spicy Peruvian dipping sauce, so good. Each slice was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Next we had the Jalea de Mariscos which had a nice variety of fried seafood. Everything from fish, calamari, shrimp, clams, and scallop was generously served on a long platter and topped with Mimi's salsa criolla (tasty relish of onions, garlic, chili peppers, and vinegar). So good, we ate it all!! Next we had the arroz con mariscos which was described as the Peruvian version of seafood paella. The rice was tender and full of flavor. The mixed seafood was also generous and seasoned well. We were getting full and packed up the leftover to enjoy later. Last but certainly not least, we tried their pesco de la macho or seafood stew. Such a rich and creamy sauce, full of flavor. I actually dipped the yucca fritas in this luscious sauce because I didn't want to waste it LOL. Again, another large portion that we couldn't finish so we packed up the leftover to enjoy later. For those of you that like hot chili spice, Mimi's rocoto sauce is no joke. Literally it is fire so if that's your grove, it is provided complimentary with their crackers before your meal is served. Our party loved this first-time dining at Mimi's. We met her too! Mimi's daughter and grandson are doing an excellent job to perpetuate her legacy of delicious Peruvian cuisine. Even though it was near closing time, they were super nice and didn't rush us out. Note: as of January 3, 2025 they are BYOB and they didn't charge us a fee for the drinks we brought with us ;) Loved it, loved it, loved it! Will certainly be a repeat customer here.

Came here upon recent discovery of Peruvian cuisine and reviews on Yelp but was a bit disappointed. We came specifically for Lomo Saltado having had a 5-star experience in California. This restaurant did not come close to our expectations. Taste was very weak. With regard to the restaurant, it is a family owned establishment with only 8 tables inside. Service is great as we were the only ones inside at noon. We met the mom and I suppose, the daughter and the cook. Be sure to check in Yelp to get 10% discount.

I am so glad I came across Mimi's Peruvian Cuisine! I actually was headed to a Thai spot but when I saw Mimi's Peruvian nearby and checked the Yelp reviews, I changed my destination! I haven't had Peruvian food in a long time. Mimi"s is a small family owned restaurant. There's abput 7-8 tables. The service was friendly and energetic. I ordered the Lomo Saltado lunch. Portion size was enough for lunch but I had the option fot the larger dinner portion. Truthfully, i wouldnt have finished the dinner size. Tasty! Best Lomo Saltado I've had and I've eaten it at some Peruvian restaurants in NYC and San Diego. Hopefully I will get back to Mimi's before I leave Honolulu. I want to try at least one other dish. I recommend this place!

Two co-workers and I were in the Keeaumoku area just after 12pm and tried Mimi's Peruvian Cuisine for lunch. There was some trepidation because the place was empty, not a good sign in our book. Our server was very friendly and brought over a dish of fried chips and two small dishes of (very spicy) Aji and Salsa Verde. (FYI, it's not free.) We ordered Seco De Carne (slow-cooked beef with beans and rice), Arroz Con Pollo (slow-cooked cilantro rice with two chicken thighs) and Tallarine Huancainos Con Pollo (pasta w/cheese and strips of chicken in Huancainos sauce). The food was well-seasoned and prepared properly. The beef in the Seco De Carne was very tender and the chicken in the Arroz Con Pollo remained moist. I loved the tallarine pasta; it was al dente and so flavorful. I also liked the heat of the aji (chili) and added it atop my chicken. The bill came to $65, excluding tip. We liked the food and wished Mimi's was located downtown. Bottom line: I would definitely want to return and can recommend Mimi's.

The food was spectacular. Coming from California, we have tried a lot of different Peruvian restaurants. This one had extremely unique dishes that we haven't seen made elsewhere, and had a very relaxing and homey atmosphere. Their ceviche and conchitas a la Parmesana were amazing.

You know this restaurant's food is gonna be delicious when you see the owner's kid helping around the restaurant haha. I lost track how many times I been wanting to try this place out, probably about several years lol. My boyfriend asked me where I wanted to eat for dinner so I chose here since it's been on my food adventuring list way too long. We arrived at the restaurant and it was very small but nicely decorated with Peruvian items on the walls. We went on a Friday night and surprisingly the restaurant appeared to be not busy yet. The lady in the front greeted us, she let us sit anywhere in the restaurant, gave our menus, and she asked us if we want our water from tap or bottle? I find it kind of odd to ask since most restaurants are from tap but I just went with the bottle water since it's more cleaner I guess? She gave us plastic cups to go with our water bottles too. We ordered: *Arroz Con Pollo (Slow cooked chicken with cilantro pea rice) *Aji De Gallina (Shredded chicken breast in spicy parmesan cream with potato and rice) Only thing to keep in mind that sometimes there maybe some items that maybe not available or sold out so make sure to plan ahead for your meals. While waiting, the owner's kid (I think?) served us some complimentary pita chips with spicy salsa and spinach sour cream dip. It was a delicious appetizer to help distract us from the 10-15min wait for our food. Our food finally arrives and I took a bite of the chicken and cilantro rice. Mmmm I just loved the way the chicken just easily melted off the bone and the rice was very fragrant and flavorful. I didn't try my boyfriend's meal since I wanted to focus on mine because it had a lot cilantro rice. I honestly think this plate is good for 2 people because the chicken and rice portion was very massive! I will most definitely buy this again! As for payment, you have to walk up to the cashier because the restaurant got very busy later on so they don't have time to stop over your table. I will be back to try the other items on the menu too.

Tallarines Huancainos con Lomo al Jugo (chicken)
    Catherine P.

Work lunch Wednesday was delivered to us from Mimi's Peruvian cuisine. The delivery services would not deliver any earlier than 1 pm even though Mimi's opens at 12. I order the Tallarines Huancainos con Lomo al Jugo. I have never had it before and sounded pretty safe. I chose the chicken option but it seems you can get beef or vegetarian. I thought the chicken was ok and the pasta, while creamy, was spicy. The spice made it taste good but I couldn't pin point any other spices or flavorings. Wish there were some contrasting flavors.

Very cozy family run, feels like home, great flavors delivered with a smile! Nice portions. Ran out of empanadas, so will be back for that. Ceviches were delicious and fresh! BYOB and lots of parking.

Complimentary chips and dips (loved combining the two)

There is no shortage of hospitality and great Peruvian home cooking here at Mimi's. Dined here the night before with my friend, a former food and beverage Director/Chef. We both love Peruvian cuisine, especially when it is served up with a heap of aloha ! We were so fortunate to meet and be taken care of by Katiya, Mimi's daughter and her associate/sister (regret we didn't get her name also.. very gracious), while Mimi was busy in the kitchen. From the moment we sat and were offered chips and two sauces (one a most memorable creamy green sauce and the other a spicy to the bone fire red hot sauce) we were in heaven. Seriously, we couldn't stop eating that creamy sauce long enough to look at for what we wanted to order ! Menu...by QR code or by inked menu. Too many things we thought we would love so friend asked the waitress to recommend. Besides the ceviche piqueo (sampling of three different ceviche with a mahimahi base), she recommended the seafood stew. This turned out to be Elton's favorite dish. We also ordered an order of tacu tacu which turned out to be my favorite dish. I am a sucker for crispy rice, and this one is mixed with beans to give it a tasty dish! The crispy bean and rice patty served with strips of tasty stir fried beef. Thank you Mimi, thanks you Kateya, for welcoming us into your restaurant. It was cozy and comfortable and we felt like we were being welcomed into your home. Loved the Christmas decorations which brightened up the restaurant. Restaurant has just a handful of two and four tops which can be reconfigured to accommodate larger parties, which we saw done a couple of times that night. Parking is validated for one hour at the Sam Sung Plaza on Keeamoku. We paid the difference which was a mere one dollar. Excited to return. Next time with friends who used to live in Peru. Maybe ...next week?! ;-) Mucho gusto Mimi Restorante!

This is my first review of 2026!…read more Tonight I enjoyed the sticky rice with chicken anticucho and it is my favorite meal of 2026 so far. The chicken thighs were beautifully seasoned and slightly charred. The meat was cooked all the way through yet still juicy with bone in thigh. The purple sticky rice was perfectly done and I love the texture of sticky rice in general. The plate also came with sliced cucumbers and pickled mustard greens (reminiscent of Vietnamese pickled mustard greens - but in a much more vibrant green color). My favorite part of the meal was the tart and aromatic sauce that came in the meal. If you're not a fan of lime juice and fish sauce, you may want to use sparingly. However, I was thoroughly enjoying the sauce and when accompanied with a bit of the mustard greens, it toned down the sour aspect of the flavor profile. Overall, so delicious and I would love to find them again and enjoy more of their menu items!

Using Yelp's Mobile Food Trucks search will identify them but you need to use another app to actually find out where they are. I ran across them on a weekend in my neighborhood and stopped by. The food is a fusion of Peruvian and Laotian by husband-wife team, Juan Ching and Kim Thepsenavong. There is a long history of Japanese cuisine fusing with Peruvian - it's called Nikkei. But other Asian cuisines, especially Southeast Asian, also blend seamlessly with Peruvian staples. Think about the heavy use of pepper and spice in Laotian cuisine. You've been in restaurants where the heat scale is hot, Thai hot, and Laotian hot. Peppers were only introduced into Southeast Asia in the 16th century. Peru is one of the recognized birthplaces of peppers, with over 300 varieties and a 7,500 year history of cultivation. Peruvian Laotian fusion works when you do it right. I had a beef anticuchos skewers plate with Laotian accompaniments. The anticuchos had a nice smokey sweet dark color from aji panca paste. The rice was Laotian, with black and white grains of sticky rice. There was pickled Laotian som pak, a vinegar marinated mustard cabbage. A fine blended salsa-like jeow mak len, full of charred tomato smokiness, savory paedek fish sauce, garlic, shallot, bird's eye chiles, and lime, was terrific on top of the marinated beef. I hope I run into Khao and Papas again one day so I can try their grilled chicken. Until then, I have the memory of a fine take-out plate of Peruvian Laotian fusion comfort food.

This Eat the Street was pork and their main pork dish was Asado...unfortunately they ran out around 7pm when I got there, so I didn't get any pork. Lame. Anyways, onto the food! I decided to go with their Chicken Saltana. I honestly didn't read the description, but I remember that I wanted something reasonably cheap and somewhat healthy. Can't really go wrong with chicken, peppers, onions, salad and rice. I pride myself on only rating places on their food, unless their service or something else is just absolutely horrendously terrible. But I would like to mention that the wait for my plate was about 35 minutes...standing...in a crowded parking lot...hungry...and tired. I expected more from a food truck, I mean come on now, this isn't a sit down restaurant, you gotta get the order and make it quick and good. At least the live music was good and the moon was quite nice. Opening my plate, I see a pretty nice plate of food. Reasonable amount of chicken and peppers and onions, generous servings of rice and salad, and a little container of what appeared to be dressing. It was all spiced with what I assumed to be Peruvian spices and also cilantro and a sweet oil based sauce used to cover the chicken and veggies and rice. The chicken looked a little plain, but the sweet sauce and veggies and cilantro really went well with the juicy chicken and the Peruvian rice (Twas a little crispy/hard, but very tasty) was pretty delicious. However, the salad was just....bleh...The veggies were fine, but the dressing was basically salt incarnate...and I'm 80% sure I detected a hint of fish, which was not good at all. For $8.90 though...not bad for everything. Overall, pretty okay meal. Without the salad, I'd give it 3.5 stars. Not bad, but nothing too spectacular. I must remember to try the other trucks at Eat the Street next time, I didn't check Yelp to see which trucks were good at the event...and I believe it cost me this time. Oh well...there is always next time.
