Very disappointing. Server was unprofessional, price was high compared to other North County coastal restaurants, felt like we were in a fast food joint that had window service only. Server brought us wine and took our order, but then we never saw that person again. In the end, after waiting an exceptionally aggravating long time, we had to go to the front counter to get our bill and pay. We felt like no one cared that we were there. Our party of seven visited on June 1 for dinner and experienced a misleading menu, unhelpful female manager with an attitude,and several other disgruntled clients. One friend, a seafood rep, ordered the seafood plate with King Crab, etc. for $25. It arrived on an 8" plate with four shrimp and four legs of SNOW crab. A nearby diner had the same experience. When the manager arrived she denied the crab was Snow and said "I don't know what the menu says" - really! My friend then ordered the Rainbow Trout which was good but there was no offer that they absorb the cost. An Oysters on Ice appetizer - 6 for $13 - had more ice than flavor. Worse oysters I've eaten anywhere. My concern with this new business is two-fold: They are clearly misrepresenting what goes into their plated items and what can I think about the operation of a restaurant who's manager doesn't know what's in each item? Lastly our group agreed the pricing for what is received is way over the Oceanside norm. Wish them luck but my first impression (red wine refrigerator was set at 70 degrees!) doesn't rate returning. read more

I just came from the Oceanside Broiler. I called ahead to make a reservation for our party of 9. They said no problem. When we arrived, 10 minutes early, they had already given our table away. We had to sit at two different tables in the bar. Our server was friendly, but slow and we had to ask for extra plates and refills more than once. The food was ok, but for the prices I expected to food to be much better. We ended up with a large bill for mediocre food and service. I won't be going back. read more

Horrible service! Food: NOPE. Two little strands of coconut on the coconut shrimp; all the rest was ordinary breading. My companion asked specifically for BLACKENED salmon on her caesar salad. Not blackened, ICEBERG LETTUCE. FINALLY got the attention of the waitress, who took it back and brought back ICEBERG LETTUCE with part romaine. It was not at all what I was expecting. Maybe I had my expectations to high but we went there for Father's Day and did not realize it was Sunday Brunch. They did have a big selection but they were only average. Salads were good but the rest was so-so. The Roast Beef was cold and very dry, Eggs Benedict the eggs were hard and cold, hash browns cold greasy, pasta gummy and flavorless. There were 5 of us having brunch and it was just so-so for all of us nothing special even though it was a special day. The price is $24.95 each, champagne is $3.00 a glass or $6.00 a bottle. Ate here last night. This restaurant will need to revamp their food in order to survive. Their happy hour, fixed price and extended happy menus are difficult to figure out. And happy hour prices only avail at the bar. The margarita I had did not have much alcohol in it. The clam chowder was creamy but did not taste like clam. The sauce on the trout did not add anything to the dish. They were out of the dessert I ordered. The key lime pie did not taste like lime. read more

Seafood on the brunch buffet was amazing and delicious. The server was very friendly and outgoing. But there were issues with the presentation and execution that had me lower score. They didn't have individual creamer available for coffee so brought out the large carton to pour into coffee, ran out of regular bottles of champagne so brought out 4 individual bottles. When asked for water only brought out only one glass not for all at table. Champagne glasses were just washed and still wet when brought to table. I went here soon after it opened and was very impressed. Although I admit this was not my first choice I was happy I came. I do not like seafood very much. My date was making fun of me for not getting seafood so I reluctantly tried the macadamia nut Opakapaka. This was a good decision. This was the best fish I have ever tasted and I have tried to make myself like fish for a while, because I am fully aware of how healthy it can be. I was very excited to see the Broiler opening in the harbor because what was there before was terrible. I went to their complimentary soft opening which was very impressive but unfortunately every visit since has been disappointing (at least 10 visits, I live across the street.) The food quality/preparation is not consistent. The first time I had the crab & avo wontons, I thought I was in heaven. The next time they were SO greasy and much smaller. I ordered the seafood pasta which consisted of a couple little shrimps, MINI scallops that were overcooked and I wouldn't be surprised if they were frozen, all for a whopping $25! Yikes. They have "the longest happy hour in town" which is a great idea except all the happy hour food items aren't very good. The mac & cheese was lumpy, the little burger was overcooked, the garlic cheese toast wasn't the same as the first time I had it, everything is SOO greasy! This place has an amazing location and beautiful views so I will only be back for drinks at sunset. read more

Love the outdoor patio overlooking Oceanside Harbor. We ordered from the Happy Hour Food menu (11am - 6pm). It's fun to put together your own combos. I had the coconut shrimp, Grilled Mahi Fish Taco, and a house salad. It was perfect. They have a room inside the restaurant for private groups (no view though) a roomy bar area, and an amazing looking Brunch that I'll need to try one of these days. read more

This was our first experience with the Broiler, and I was so looking forward to it because I don't get out much. I hate to say it, but I was very disappointed and couldn't even eat the food. It just didn't taste right to me. We had gone there for lunch on a Wednesday, and I had printed out the menu prior to our visit so I could decide beforehand on what I really wanted to eat, so I was excited about it.. I ordered the crab cake which I really tried to eat but, meh! Then I tried the salmon caesar. Just couldn't choke it down! The romaine tasted weird, and I don't know if it was the lettuce or the dressing. The salmon tasted nasty to me. It was totally unfortunate and a big disappointment! The good parts of the experience (and there were some!) were the ambiance, the view and our waitress, Carrie! She was wonderful! Very friendly, quick and helpful! A real gem! read more

Our party of 12 came here for a wedding rehearsal dinner. We sat on their beautiful patio right along the marina. Lovely ambiance, excellent menu. Many delicious seafood options. After waiting an hour and a half, and still no food or drink refills, we were all pretty tired, hungry, and ready to go. Finally, our waitress made an appearance and told us there was some sort of problem with the kitchen and two of their chefs called in sick so everyone's order was late. They did offer us a discount on our bill so that was greatly appreciated. I would definitely come here again. Great food. Message to the owners. Called your restaurant around 8:50pm (5/9/15) to find out at what time you stop serving, the lady on the phone said 10:00pm on Saturday nights. I said great see you in a few minutes. We walked in the doors at 9:25pm with the idea of appetizers and wine. No one was around to greet us, i walked around for a moment and finally a girl got up from a table with 3 people at it to tell me there were closed. I said i just called and that the lady said you close at 10:00pm and its only 9:30pm. Instead of arguing with the girl, I said fine we will sit in the bar. Then she stated that the kitchen was already closed. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT FOR OSIDE !!! We had great hope as we love our city. And were looking forward to some really fine food experiences here. Went on Saturday for my husband's Birthday Dinner, buy one entree and get one free, plus dessert. The place was busy and the servers were hustling, but I guess they needed more servers because we sat, as did others, and waited. The bread was served after our meal was served. Server said the bread was in the oven. My steak was served warm. I paid $32 for a rib-eye. It was very chewy, not tender. My husband ordered the swordfish. It was very dry. Dessert came with the meal, but the server never brought the dessert menu, she chose it for us. We were served bread pudding which had a rum sauce. My husband doesn't like rum, but chose to keep it. Neither of us were impressed. We will stick to Jolly Roger at the end of the harbor or any of the other local restaurants. read more

I have been going to the Monteray Cannery for 13 years, and loved it. And I loved the Nautical Decor and private dinning room overlooking the bay. Then the shit hit the fan and they sold out to a company that does not have the customers heart or appitie in mind. First thing i noticed about the new decor of Oceanside Broiler, was they did away with the nice dinning area that was semi private and opened it all up, and put in a modern decor that looks like it does not belong at a Marina. The Wine that was served for the price was swill. We had to call the manager over and request another bottle of Wine. She was reluctant to honor our request and stated the we drank half the bottle, which we did not. The food was terrable for the price. $26.00 dollars for a Scallop dish with three raw Scallops and a little rice, the vegie was three string Asparagas that were raw. the entire meal was cold when served. I sent it back and they Micro waved it. I will not go back to that rip off place. They lost a very good customer who have been eating there every Sunday for 13 years. read more

We took a look at food selection & gave Certificate to a family already eating & we left. 11:30 on Sunday & there were only 14 people in entire place. Parking lot was almost empty. Carving station only offered dried up-looking roast beef. No ham, turkey, nada. 1 pot of food labeled "nachos" had soggy, nasty tortilla chips with scrambled eggs. What? The new decor looks great if it was in an industrial section of town. Chairs with black cushions & chrome legs. Very sterile looking. Only 2 people in the back patio on a beautiful day. On Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 5:45pm, we visited this restaurant?, our server, Steve, was very pleasant, ordered our drinks, we waited 20 minutes for our clam chowder which was warm & shrimp cocktail, bread(cold), our order of Pacific Ono & Coconut Salmon took another 45 minutes was warm, red potatoes & vegetables were cold. I requested to have my meal of Coconut Salmon heated in the micro oven, instead I was given another dish, same order, warm also!! Steve, the waiter was very apologetic but it didn't help with the meal! It wasn't a pleasant experience!! I was observing the kitchen staff and it seems that they need more help in preparing the meals, the servers were waiting for their orders a very long time. The food service is extremely slow, my advise is to skip this place!! I miss Monterey Bay Cannery very much!! read more

We've been apprehensive about trying this place, due to the poor ratings. Even though it takes us 5 minutes to walk here. Hubby won a 50.00 gift card in a raffle. So we decided...what the heck, let's go. GLAD we did! The place is really nice inside, beautiful views of course, our server Johnny was great and best of all?? THE FOOD! Hubby ordered the Ahi stack and Calamari app. great portions! Especially the calamari, we couldn't believe it. Huge solid flesh pieces with a light tempura batter. I ordered the lettuce wraps because I had noticed the Mud Pie on the desert menu lol and didn't want to get too full. Really enjoyed the flavor, only that there could've been just a little more chicken in them but would still order them again. Oh!! The Mud Pie was super yummy!! (And I love a good mud pie! They have a pretty awesome happy hour! Prices are good and the food is good. I have a problem with the mussels and fries though. The mussels are awesome and then they serve it with maybe 7 fries over top!! I'm not even kidding and I wish we would've taken a pic. I mean, you can get a 10 pound bag of potatoes right now at Frazier Farms for $1!!!! Why would you make these gorgeous mussels and then literally use the fries as a garnish?!? We were all pretty perplexed about this. If they had cut up one measly potato and fried it up, the bowl would've been full and our eyes and bellies would have been pleased. I don't know if this was a fluke or not, but it was lame. We're definitely going back again though! Great atmosphere and good drink specials. read more

Seems the area has more middle-aged/seniors & families, not young CA surfer type. The clam chowder soup is the best! Crab cake a bit mushy. Had the seafood cold platter. Think it was $28, got 4 small oysters, 4 medium large shrimps, 4 small slices of tuna, a 4oz cup of shrimp/scallop salsa w/ cocktail sauce, on a very large iced platter, enhancing how little food I was getting. Also had the grilled Mahi, w/ rice & vegetables. The quality & the taste are average, way not better than my local Mimi's Cafe. The desert of the flourless chocolate cake was decent, but just enough for 1 person. Our bill was about $70. Service was ok, didn't check on our empty glasses to refill water though. Tipped her $10 cuz I was in a good mood. It's worth a try, esp the clam chowder. read more

I am so happy that we decided to try this place despite negative reviews. We went at lunchtime for the happy hour deals and thoroughly enjoyed everything about the experience. The location is great. The finding area was nice and very comfortable. We had a table right by the water. There are two outdoor patio areas that look lovely to enjoy next time. The wait staff were friendly and professional. They were efficient while still allowing us to enjoy our conversation and meals. The food was delicious. We had the coconut shrimp and fish tacos. Wow, both were amazing. The chicken quesadilla was just right, tasty, tender chicken, great flavors, and not too much cheese. The happy hour chardonnay was good too. Great deals, good, service, and ambiance, can't ask for anything more. Will have to check out their brunch someday soon. read more

We had a great time! I had a calamari appetizer (more than I needed). and Scallops with Asparagus. So yummy!!!!! My companion had a steak that he thoroughly enjoyed. Came here for dinner and everything was on point. I was sort of nervous considering the negative reviews but our server was timely and very friendly. The lobster, filet minon, crab & artichoke bisque were very good and I would recommend those items.
