Seafood Omelet
Larry H.

We had a great brunch at Ocean View Restaurant! Charday was a gem even though she wasn't our primary server she checked on us several times and made us feel genuinely welcomed with her warmth and positive Attitude . I really enjoyed the seafood omelette. My boyfriend originally wanted the Reuben, but since it wasn't available during brunch, he ordered the crab cake sandwich instead and loved it. The fries were hot fresh, and well seasoned. We also enjoyed cranberry mimosas with our meal. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in this neck of the woods

Delicious and great service for breakfast! Arrived around 10am on a summer Sunday morning and only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table. Small parking lot out front that we were easily able to get a spot. While not as cheap as your average diner spot, the food was yummy and I recommend the breakfast burrito.

Wonderful breakfast. Love the eggs Benedict. During the summer especially on weekends there is usually a wait but it's worth the wait!

We eat breakfast here every time we are in Bethany, the service is always on time and friendly and the food is good and priced right.

Any vegan options or accommodations available?

I do not know. I believe you can get egg whites. ( if that vegan?) You would have to call them.

We had Molly as our bartender who was helpful in offering up meal selections and she modified my drink and made it just like one I got to try in the Middle East! We didn't feel rushed, but the space is quite small, so arrive early and get a reservation if you can. Most parking nearby is paid parking through the city so double check or you can get a $$$ fine. The espresso martini style drink had beet shavings on top, something I have never seen before with that drink. It didn't really affect the taste, but it looked cool.

The location is wonderful, located right in the town of Bethany. We sat outside on a nicely done patio that was relaxing and perfect for the weather. The waitress was very accommodating and well trained. She asked about allergies and made sure we had what we needed. When we did not like a dish, they did comp us, which was unexpected. The negatives unfortunately outweigh the positives as we do not intend to eat there in the future. First, it was very overpriced for a tapas place. Each tapa was about 22-25 dollars. These were not a reasonable price for tapas. We ended up leaving hungry. The food was presented very nicely, however, the food lacked in flavor and execution. The tapas all had good concepts but none were great and some were simply bad. The cauliflower was coated in something that made it taste burnt. The gnocchi were not even gnocchi and the dish lacked balance as it was super sweet. The scallops were well cooked but the mushrooms and corn had no flavor. The bison sliders were decent but the buns were hard and burnt and the slider had no sauce. The tuna crudo was probably the best one but it was very oily. Again, good concepts, just poor execution. Cocktails were upwards of 16 dollars and a glass of wine was about the same. I could walk down the street and get a drink for much less. We got other people's food twice as they have people carrying out food that aren't our server. I wish I could rate this place higher but it is not worth the money they are charging.

This remains one of my top five spots for happy hour at the bar or dining with family, thanks to…read moremore than ten past visits showing how great it is inside or out. Here is a breakdown of my two most recent experiences. During a solo outing with a friend, we arrived just before 4 PM to grab two coveted bar stools right as happy hour began, which now starts at 4 PM instead of 3 PM. I went with my usual two happy hour pepper creek punches and paired them with the happy hour fried chicken sandwich, adding a side of very good hand-cut fries for an extra $2. The portion was large enough that I brought half of the sandwich home for lunch. Bartender Trevor offered a sample of their malty nitro center of gravity english mild draft beer (4.5% ABV), and I loved the notes of toffee, chocolate, and toasted bread so much that I ended my dinner with two full glasses. Thanks to excellent service from bartenders Bill and Trevor, my solo total came out to a reasonable $36 before tip. On my next visit, I brought my family of four on a Wednesday around 6 PM. We were instantly accommodated at booth table 53 on the right side of the restaurant. They had recently updated their regular menu, and I decided to try the Korean beef bowl for $24, which features soy marinated sliced steak, vegetables, greens, an umami glaze, a fried egg, and spicy mayo served over basmati rice. Our server, Cate J., took wonderful care of us, and the total bill for the family was $152 excluding gratuity. Whether for happy hour or dinner, we will absolutely keep coming back.

With a bright bold colors and stunning architecture, the restaurant stands out on the corner. A huge mural of Delaware beckons the local purity. Inside you are greeted by huge brewing equipment in a two story grand dining room, filled with happy families and bustling servers! We always order takeout and they graciously save close parking spots for carryout orders. The online ordering allows for easy modifications and simple ordering. We grabbed a smorgasbord of flavors and made the entire family happy. The Fried Chicken meal comes with famous Delaware chicken and some fun twists of Gochuchang sauce and honey butter rolls. The fried food traveled well and is expertly packaged. On their website, they advertise Beer Battered Shrimp - and by simply calling in, the manager was able to add an order to our meal! Simple entrees. Bold flavors. Definitely a place worth frequenting on your Bethany Beach vacations.

From the limp "greeting" at the host stand to the waitress's freestyle interpretation of service, the evening never rose above mediocrity, despite the luxury‑pricing suggesting it might. I ordered the crab spaghetti, lured in by the promise of "whole crabs." What arrived was a thin red broth with a small quartered crab perched on top like a sad garnish. The dissolved, overcooked crab remnants floating in the bowl had all the flavor of warm tap water. And without proper utensils, the "whole crab" was more of a decorative warning than an edible component. My wife had the seafood stew. She enjoyed the toast. For the most expensive bad meal I've ever had, Bluecoast certainly delivered -- just not in the way anyone would hope.

Having frequented this location under its previous name, 99 Sea Level, I wanted to summarize our…read moreinitial two experiences under the restaurant's new management and rebranding. Our first visit took place on Mother's Day around 4:00 PM. Because brunch was still being served and dinner didn't begin until 4:15 PM, I booked a table for two, and we passed the time at the bar. We caught some live music while I enjoyed a $16 Maker's Mark Manhattan before settling the bar tab. Once dinner service opened at 4:15 PM, we were seated inside at table 45 to escape a breezy outdoor deck. It turned out to be the debut day for their new menu. I ordered another $16 Maker's Mark Manhattan and the $36 seafood stew--a rich combination of fish, clams, shrimp, fennel, pepper, onion, Spanish chorizo, and tomato seafood broth accompanied by grilled bread. It was a generous portion, so I brought the remaining stew home to enjoy later that evening. To conclude the meal, I tried the Lucky 7 porter from Evolution Craft Brewing Company ($7), which featured dark dried fruit and sweet toffee tones balanced by notes of chocolate, coffee, and smoke. Our server, Brendan V., did an excellent job caring for us and demonstrated great knowledge of the new menu, even while managing a large outdoor table with five children. Our total bill for that evening came to $114, excluding gratuity. We returned on Memorial Day for a second dinner, this time in a group of five that included family and a friend visiting from Scottsdale, AZ. Since the outdoor fire tables were completely full, we secured a table on the left side of the restaurant. I began with a spicy mango margarita for $14, which featured tequila, mango, lime, agave, jalapeno, and a tajin rim, and opted for the $36 seafood stew once again. Unfortunately, the cocktails were inconsistent this time; I ordered a Maker's Mark Manhattan up, but it tasted like watered-down bourbon. When a second Manhattan tasted exactly the same, I decided to cancel the order. Nevertheless, our server Nadine K. provided excellent service throughout the evening, and our bill came out to $92 before gratuity. Ultimately, we all agreed that we would gladly visit again.

I know the restaurant industry is difficult, and I am usually not one to write bad reviews, but…read morethis one is justified. Don't be lured by the great ocean views. This is still a hotel restaurant, and a mediocre one at best. The good . . . great views of the Atlantic and decent drinks. The bad . . . just about everything else. I'll preface this by saying that I was not going to write a review despite the underwhelming experience, but after the final straw, I simply can't resist. We started with a round of cocktails that were attractive and well mixed. The night was off to a good start. Unfortunately, it was downhill from there. Appetizers were fried cauliflower and calamari. Entrees were crabcakes, a Caesar salad topped with a crabcake, seafood bucatini, and seafood stew. Service was indifferent at best. Server did not offer any specials until asked and did not know how to handle problems (see below). The appetizers came out and were fine. The cauliflower was fried, but not as crispy as a really good fried cauliflower. The chipotle aioli had a nice flavor. Calamari was well fried, but the sauce was overly salty. Then came the entrees. The seafood bucatini was the highlight in that it was perfectly acceptable. For $52, I expect a meaty crabcake with lots of jumbo lump. This crabcake was loaded with filler. As for the caesar salad, the menu says it comes with "Shaved parmesan, anchovies, croutons, house made caesar dressing." But the salad came out with no croutons. When we asked the server, he said they ran out of croutons and he needed to bring the manager over to offer a solution (which turned out to be sunflower seeds, smashed cashews, and leftover bread from the kitchen - when we said we'll take them, the server said we may be charged for keeping all three). Lettuce was also the top of the romaine, which was mushy and needed the non-existent croutons to save it. Then there's the seafood stew. The bowl came out with no spoon and no bread (and no plate for shells, but I guess that's not a necessity). They brought a spoon when asked, but said it doesn't come with bread, and we would need to order bread if we wanted it. Seemed odd, but okay. The broth was ridiculously salty and borderline inedible. We paid and left feeling like it was fine, but we probably won't return on future visits to Bethany. Then we checked the menu to see what it said about the seafood stew. Sure enough, it is supposed to come with "grilled bread." Perhaps they ran out of it with the croutons, but to say we would need to order it separately reflects a lack of knowledge of the menu, complete indifference, blatant lying, or all of the above. Beyond that, the pop music was far too loud for a restaurant that wants to be a decent restaurant. The view was nice, but I feel like I just threw my money into the ocean.

Our server was very friendly and appeared to be hosting and waiting tables at the same time but she was pleasant and prompt. My husband is from St. Louis so he likes very thin crust and very crunchy (think cracker crust) and this was cooked to crunchy (but not burnt) perfection with fresh and yummy sausage on top.
