Unfortunately the balcony rooms on the Bayfront were unavailable, so we booked a corner balcony room overlooking the historic district buildings and iconic streets filled with boutique stores. We were on the second floor overlooking Charlotte Street/Treasury Street. We could hear the live music from the Saints restaurant next door at night. Very little car noise at night. Public street parking maybe hard to find during busy times such as July 4th weekend and the lots were slightly expensive. Luckily most restaurant and local attractions were walkable so we left our car in the hotels, where the valet was also expensive but convenient. You can also buy a ticket to the Hop off and Hop on trolley right at the Hilton front desk, which takes you to the different tourist attractions that was slightly farther away. For July 4th, the hotel had a BBQ in front of the hotel. It was nicely done. The staff went above and beyond to make the event enjoyable for the guests. Tents were set up for outdoor seating, to eat grilled food, drink and listen to music. At night, you can see the fireworks right outside the hotel. Highly recommend and would definitely come back to this hotel when we visit St. Augustine again.

But listen, it's an awkward layout (like much of St Augustine) and now that I travel with an elderly parent, I tend to notice these things. There are ADA rooms but this property consists of different buildings, walk ways, elevators, and hallways. Be prepared and call the hotel for information. They are great. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. We usually stay at Casa Monica, but they need to update the rooms there and we are so happy with this property now.

The room was nice and spacious, with odd closets, but they worked for the time we were spending there. They also had robes if we needed to be bougie and prance around. We slept well and had a nice view of the square between the Lightner Mansion and Flagler College. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. They gave good recommendations on how to get around Saint Augustine, which had been a minute for me, so it was good to get a refresher. Sparkling wine at the front desk when we checked in was excellent and helped us unwind after the drive from South Florida. They have a gym and pool that I believe is accessible through the second floor, so I will have to remember that for our return trip. Also, they have a Starbucks on the lobby floor, which was great to get our morning pick-me-up. The bar and restaurant were very stylish, lots of Spanish influence from the 15th and 16th centuries. The cocktails were also solid. I didn't care for the water pressure and temperature, as they were difficult to adjust and ensure we were getting the correct settings. It was pretty scalding hot, so it took a couple of minutes to get it right, and then I kept it on the setting for my wife since I didn't want her struggling to mess with it. Apart from that, the experience was great. We enjoyed the sparkling wine and the accommodations when we checked in. The valet was good to have, as I didn't want to mess with street parking, but it is more expensive; take note.

Eh, for a so-called 'resort' I was not blown away. I get the historical angle and an old building and all, but unfortunately (in my experience) that usually means a compromise on some level. Sure, the bed was very comfy, but the shower - and bathroom in general - was mediocre at best, with dated fixtures and not so great pressure. The room was fairly small-- fine for a solo traveler like me --- made interesting with matching eclectic furniture but not at luxury level. Just pointing it out.

The bed, pillows and blankets need to be updated as the bed was not comfortable. Check in was great and all automated if you accept access via text communication. Breakfast was nice, delivered to our room. It was freshly made and very tasty. There is seating on the balcony outside of the room that was very comfortable. The directions and instructions for check in were a breeze and the home was lovely, clean and very comfortable. The B&B invited us to events they had on site for guests and were available for any question we had about the stay. Breakfast was excellent and a terrific start to the day. The B&B and rental homes are located close to the historical sites and shops of St. Augustine and within a very short walk. We are already taking about coming back next year! It was that great!

We heard the breakfast there is realllllly good- unfortunately, we didn't have time to hang out at the bar or have breakfast. We did pop into the littleee convenience/shop area for a pint of ice cream which hit the spot after coming home from dinner. The owner came back with he would include it in the deal for "his cost, $95.00". I countered with, "I'm paying full retail price, you can include for the $95.00". He said no! He was silly enough to lose the whole deal for $95.00! I was very courteous and not demanding about anything during the whole process. If that small a difference made the deal fall thru, I certainly would not want him servicing the cart in the future. He probably would nickel and dime you to death if his margins are that small! I bought 3 miles down the road and actually got a much better cart for a reasonable price.

This place was absolutely perfect for Nights of Lights!…read more We wanted to experience the event in St. Augustine but heard that parking during this time can be a nightmare, so we looked for a hotel or Airbnb within walking distance of the historic downtown area. Most options were either sold out or priced at $800+ per night, so we felt incredibly lucky to find availability at Marker 8 Hotel and Marina for $360/night. The hotel was wonderful. The staff was warm, friendly, and welcoming. They greeted us with big smiles, provided a map of the town, and even offered restaurant recommendations. The location, though, was definitely the highlight. The hotel sits right next to the bridge that leads directly into downtown. They even have a private gate that opens onto the walkway, making access incredibly convenient. We loved being able to stay in a quiet, uncrowded area while still being just a short walk (1/2 mile) from all the excitement. Parking was also a positive experience. We arrived around 3:30 p.m., and the lot was mostly empty, allowing us to park right in front of our room. By around 8 p.m., the lot did fill up, so guests arriving later may want to be mindful of that. Our room was very clean, and the king bed was super comfy. Some of the furniture, particularly the bathroom shelving, was a bit dated, but everything was well-maintained and spotless, so we had no complaints. One of our favorite features was the beautiful view from the patio. The sunset from our room was breathtaking! Our room faced the marina, so we loved walking out to the pier to see the boats and watch the sea life in the water. The weather was perfect, so we took full advantage of exploring the marina area. Overall, we loved this hotel and would absolutely return. The location could not have been better for enjoying Nights of Lights.

The hotel is modern and the room was spacious for two people. The bathroom door is made from frosted glass that slides back and forth. If you are used to cracking the bathroom door for a nightlight, bring a nightlight from home. Our room faced the parking lot and there is no balcony. The rooms facing the pool have balconies. But they also face partially to an electric distribution operation and partially to a parking lot and perhaps another building under construction. I think the parking lot view worked. And if you're not in the room often, what does it matter? This hotel does allow dogs. We saw several walking with their humans in the lobby. Only one morning did we hear a dog bark on the guest floor. The parking rate is stated at $22, but after taxes it is $25/day. Don't be misled. The elevators going up only work after you hold your keycard to the access pad. Then depress the button for the floor of choice. The hotel automatically closed out our bill after four days. We did not know this until we arrived home 6 days later. We were unable to review the charges for the first 4 days. We did receive a bill for the last three days, which appeared correct. But no way to evaluate the charges of the first part of the stay and still can't even on the bonvoy app. We weren't even told they closed out the bill or why they closed out the bill. The refrigerator would not maintain the temperature of 40 degrees. We often returned to the room to 54 degrees, which was unacceptable to store our medication. We had maintenance look at the refrigerator and were advised to depress the quick cool button. We had to do this at least twice a day. The shower drain was clogged. Maintenance resolved that. The ice maker/water dispenser on each guest floor was appreciated. We were told housekeeping would visit every other day. By the third day the trash needed to be emptied, even though we didn't mind making the bed ourselves. The hotel should consider a community trashcan by the ice maker to assist with the every other day housekeeping issue. Breakfast was $18 and was explained as a European style breakfast. It's a buffet with options including fruit, smoked salmon, prociutto, bagels, cereal, yogurt, scrambled eggs and sausage. We kept saying we will try the breakfast, but there are so many options in STA, that we skipped it. The do have a complimentary coffee station between the breakfast and bar areas that are set up til at least 10:30. My companion had filled his travel mug each morning and that was very nice! We attempted to order dinner in the bar area one evening. We sat at a table after obtaining menus from the bar. We waited 30 minutes and after seeing other hotel guests with food and drinks, no one greeted us or instructed us where to order. We departed and went to a nearby restaurant outside the hotel. The Travelzoo rate, convenience of parking, and proximity to the historic downtown area, made this trip worthwhile.

The air unit was old and noisy, but it worked. I wonder with the lack of maintenance the true air quality in these rooms, as well. I do want to see this place succeed and would stay again, but in a few years, it would be a hard NO if lack of maintenance made this place decline further.

The toilet is less than 10 feet from where you sleep with no barrier in between. I'm not sure why this isn't disclosed while booking or shown in any photos. I specifically requested a 2nd floor room but unfortunately did not get it. Housekeeping only put 2 full sized towels in the room and so we had to request more. Our TV did not work upon arrival and while they did send someone to fix it promptly, the TV system continually displayed ads that took up half the screen and made it tough to actually watch anything. All in all, I would not stay here again or recommend it to anyone I know.

The thought about sleeping in my car did cross my mind! Let me start by saying when I checked into our room and used the bathroom I noticed a wet shower towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door. I brought it to the front desk and the woman at the desk replied, "oh, I didn't even know there were hooks on the back of the bathroom doors. I will speak to the housekeeping staff. " A very strange reply to tell someone who just checked in. I was immediately turned off! The floors were absolutely filthy as you will see from the pictures of my socks. I keep them in my suitcase for when I forget a pair of flip flops to walk around in. Trust me, those floors haven't seen a mop in forever! The dirt and dust on the louvre doors for the closet look like they haven't been cleaned in years! I wasn't about to hang anything up in there. We kept all our belongings in our suitcases zipped closed! It was a big inconvenience. Their so called happy hour left little to be desired and could use much improvement along with their breakfast. The only "good" thing about this hotel is that it is walking distance to everything, but so are all the other hotels! Choose wisely! If I could give this hotel 0 stars I would! It was a disgrace and they should be embarrassed to rip people off charging the prices they do. They have a lot of nerve. It cost us over $1,000 for 3 nights. Everything about this hotel was old. I believe the property situation is the result of poor upkeep.

We ended up on a second floor room that felt like we were on a drag race strip. This did not help me sleep and I was up most of the night tossing and turning. The room also did not appear to be two queen beds as booked but rather two fulls. Or have hotel beds shrunk and I am just now learning this? It also had a shower instead of a tub which was not good for my toddler to take a bath. This was my mistake for not researching that more as I thought be the photos it looked like they did have them. The room was spacious and came with a mini fridge and microwave. There is free self parking at the hotel. Since the hotel is at least a 15 minutes walk downtown, they offer a shuttle that takes you there although we didn't use it. Overall, I would not stay at this hotel again unless I could be guaranteed a room away from the road. I'm surprised at all of the good reviews on Yelp but maybe they got better rooms or are heavy sleepers.

Nice sized, with comfy beds and pillows. The bathroom had me concerned because the sink didn't look like it was cleaned. There was a small chunk of toothpaste in the sink and some spots which made me wonder if the rest of the room had been cleaned thoroughly. There was also a used coffee k cup in the machine and the drip area was wet with old coffee. We mentioned it to the front desk on our way out to dinner and when we returned just before 10pm we were told we could switch rooms. I didn't want to pack and unpack all over again. We declined as we were tired and just wanted to go to sleep. Thank God for the small sink in the main room because that's what we used. In the morning we got up to shower only to find there really wasn't hot water. Two lukewarm showers later we were frustrated and checked out. We weren't asked how our stay was by the front desk so we didn't ask if hot water has been an issue. We won't be staying here again.

We also enjoyed the private balcony, the walkable location, and access to the main house for water, coffee, tea, and homemade cookies. The property was beautifully decorated for the season, and everyone we encountered was kind and accommodating. That said, I would not personally choose this room again due to comfort issues related to sleep. The bed creaked loudly with every movement, and the very soft topper made it uncomfortable. The left side of the bed also lacked a bedside table, leaving no place for essentials like a phone or water, which was incredibly inconvenient. Since comfortable sleep is a primary reason for booking lodging, this was a drawback for me. While the property offers other rooms that may be better in this regard, at close to $450 per night during the holidays, I did expect a higher level of comfort and functionality. There were also a few minor inconveniences. The ice machine dispensed only one glassful at a time and used a shared scoop that was returned to the container. The included wine was presented in unmarked bottles, and clearer labeling would have made it easier to feel confident in its quality. Housekeeping was not provided daily and had to be requested each time. On one occasion, only the trash was removed and a few extra towels were left. The jacuzzi tub was never cleaned between uses, and I had to clean it myself before each use. Breakfast was good, and the staff kindly accommodated our dietary needs. Guests staying in the Pearl Room do need to walk across the street for breakfast, which makes it feel less seamless than simply going downstairs. On the positive side, the Pearl Room does offer a high level of privacy, which we appreciated. Overall, the staff was kind, and there were aspects of the stay we truly enjoyed. However, several comfort and service issues would need to be addressed before this property could be considered excellent.
