Outside the downstairs beach house- beach is right around the corner!
Christine C.

Last minute trip with 2 teens before school starts back up. Stayed in the downstairs beach house. It was perfect for our family! Full fridge and kitchen. Everything was clean. Continental breakfast was the perfect way to start the day. Rode our bikes and scooters into the city from our room. We hope to be back. Want to know more about the upstairs beach house!

Check in was across the street at another hotel because of lobby renovations or something. This isn't terrible, but there should be some communication about this prior to arrival (like on the website) so that travelers can plan accordingly. We came into town on Friday afternoon for a wedding weekend and there happened to be a nasty nor'easter moving through, so we had to swim through a parking lot and get soaked in the rain before traveling to a rehearsal dinner. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The view is spectacular! We stayed in a jacuzzi king room and the tub is good and deep. There was also enough hot water to fill it up, which was surprising. The shower is tiny though and there isn't a lot of water pressure. Also, there is a weird shutter that opens between the bathroom and bed, with a direct view of the toilet. Even when you close the shutter, you're gonna hear everything in the bathroom. Overall, great view, weird room features, but clean and cozy.

Had to check in across the street at another hotel due to lobby renovations; nice front desk staff; hospitable staff; cozy room; really loved the view of the ocean from the nice sized, clean balcony; loved the jaccuzi tub in the bathroom; did not care for the tight space in the shower and no place to sit shower gel/body wash/soap, nor for the sink being outside of the bathroom, nor the dryer being stationed right next to the microwave on the sink, nor the curtains that seemed to be thrown up in a haphazard way; could use a few updates/renovations due to some rust spots in the bathroom. Additionally, dealing with the television was very frustrating; there was a type-written guide for the channels, but quite a few of the channels showed a message of "not authorized"; probably shouldn't list the channel on the sheet if not able to watch it; was always a delay when changing channels, in addition to a delay with the sound; fortunately, we didn't do a lot of channel surfing.

This place is a hidden gem! Not the newest, biggest hotel but right on the beach and AMAZING views. Publix is within walking distance and as close as this hotel is to the beach as it is surprisingly quiet! You do have to check in at the hotel next door and it was not a big deal, man at the desk was helpful and nice. Highly recommend, would stay again

I had remembered…read morethis hotel was in downtown Saint Augustine, across from Flagler College, when we were going to spend the night in town. I'm glad we did, as we had a lovely night. The room was nice and spacious, with odd closets, but they worked for the time we were spending there. They also had robes if we needed to be bougie and prance around. We slept well and had a nice view of the square between the Lightner Mansion and Flagler College. The staff at the front desk were very friendly and accommodating. They gave good recommendations on how to get around Saint Augustine, which had been a minute for me, so it was good to get a refresher. Sparkling wine at the front desk when we checked in was excellent and helped us unwind after the drive from South Florida. They have a gym and pool that I believe is accessible through the second floor, so I will have to remember that for our return trip. Also, they have a Starbucks on the lobby floor, which was great to get our morning pick-me-up. The bar and restaurant were very stylish, lots of Spanish influence from the 15th and 16th centuries. The cocktails were also solid. I didn't care for the water pressure and temperature, as they were difficult to adjust and ensure we were getting the correct settings. It was pretty scalding hot, so it took a couple of minutes to get it right, and then I kept it on the setting for my wife since I didn't want her struggling to mess with it. Apart from that, the experience was great. We enjoyed the sparkling wine and the accommodations when we checked in. The valet was good to have, as I didn't want to mess with street parking, but it is more expensive; take note.

The lower level period touches and decor are divine, and the location is just about perfect -- close to everything the old town has to offer. The guest rooms though? Eh, for a so-called 'resort' I was not blown away. I get the historical angle and an old building and all, but unfortunately (in my experience) that usually means a compromise on some level. Sure, the bed was very comfy, but the shower - and bathroom in general - was mediocre at best, with dated fixtures and not so great pressure. The room was fairly small-- fine for a solo traveler like me --- made interesting with matching eclectic furniture but not at luxury level. Just pointing it out.

Very nice and great location, easy to walk around downtown to see all the sights of St. Augustine. The room was spacious, smaller bathroom but not too small. The bed, pillows and blankets need to be updated as the bed was not comfortable. Check in was great and all automated if you accept access via text communication. Breakfast was nice, delivered to our room. It was freshly made and very tasty. There is seating on the balcony outside of the room that was very comfortable. Staying here feels very home like and relaxing.

I used "reservationdesk.com" (Expedia-?) to make this reservation. The agent PROMISED that we would be on a second floor with a BAYFRONT VIEW. When we arrived at the MARIN HOUSE B&B, there was no waterfront view at all, and we were on the first floor, crammed into a little corner on the property. At check-in, we were basically told that, it's your problem because we used a third-party ("reservationdesk.com"). FINALLY, a week later, we finally got our receipt. Marin House said that they could not even give us a receipt because we went through a third-party. So, one week later, I see that we were charged for three nights, even though we checked out after the first night. ReservationDesk.com said that they contacted Marin House, who told them that since we checked out after the first night, it was against their B&B POLICY, and they are refusing to refund FOR THE TWO NIGHTS THAT WE WERE NOT EVEN THERE!!!!! EVEN THOUGH WE WERE LIED TO ABOUT THE ROOM. Sandy, the owner, got her britches into a big bunch because we were singing, and our choice of language apparently offended the geriatric crowd there.... SO, FOR ONE NIGHT, SANDY @ MARIN HOUSE IS CHARGING US OVER $1,500.00‼‼‼. THIEVES. THIEVES. THIEVES. STAY AWAY FROM THESE THIEVES.

The Voco was an ideal place to stay. It is a modern boutique hotel and about a 10 minute walk from downtown St. Augustine. Everyone we met on the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I felt ZERO ghostly spirits around and no bad juju, which is hard to find in St. Augustine, honestly. Everything was super clean and crisp-looking. It was quaint and quirky, but I enjoyed that about the hotel. It wasn't your run-of-the-mill hotel. The room came with a big TV, a very cozy bed, and a bigger-than-usual mini fridge, which was AMAZINGGG because we had made a pit stop at Buc-ee's for birthday treats and fun... I am obsessed with IHG's bathroom products. Their shampoo is incredible. And the room was pretty quiet- we didn't hear our neighbors. The bar area looked really tempting. We heard the breakfast there is realllllly good- unfortunately, we didn't have time to hang out at the bar or have breakfast. We did pop into the littleee convenience/shop area for a pint of ice cream which hit the spot after coming home from dinner. There is free covered parking below the hotel (and more parking available outside), which is super convenient. The gym looked nice. I love that they had laundry machines. The ice machine was always fully stocked and working. We had a great stay at Voco and really enjoyed our 3 days there. I highly recommend it and would stay there again.

The room, on the other hand, was dated and had an odor but we let the staff know and we were switched out immediately to another. The location was great - we walked into town, over the Bridge and explored all night. We came back over the bridge to dine later on but as long as you have good walking shoes on, you're good to go!
