It's not really the hotel's fault but you used to be able to park on the street especially when off-season, but no longer and that costs $27 a night. But I like this hotel. Staff is very nice This was the first time I've ever seen it raucous but a bunch of Navy guys were finishing up some training and all heading back to their respective bases so I understand but wow that lobby was loud and boisterous at 2200on a Thursday night. What a wonderful hotel! Stayed here for New Year's, and we will be coming back. First, the not so great, our room did not have a properly working AC unit - it was hot even with it being in the 40s at night. However, the hotel did come 3x to fix, each time checking in periodically, and eventually we got a portable AC unit that worked wonders. The entire staff to the manager was so pleasant and accommodating (no rooms, sold out, or they would have moved us). Now on to the good, upon walking in, there is a bar with pizza (late night too!) and tapas. Wowowowow! Hands down the BEST spicy tuna tacos I've ever had - they were delicious, jam-packed, flavorful, and tasted so fresh. My husband got the Magic Beach Pizza called Sunburnt Surfer, which was cheese, pepperoni, and hot honey, spectacular. There is a roof top restuarunt and bar, which we went up for NY, but it was wayyyyy to cold. Location is close to the beach, walkable to the pier, there is a publix conviently across the street (you can walk) as well as other bars and coffee shops. Stayed here for a night. They only have valet parking, $25 a night. We arrived at 1, and went to check in at the front desk. The representative was a little off putting, did not greet us upon arrival. When I mentioned I was here for check in, without checking my reservation she told me it would be $25. I asked to still check in and gave her my ID and card. She pulled up my reservation and noticed I am a globalist, then told me I could go ahead and check in now. The hallways had a strong smell of urine. The room was nice, very spacious with a sofa, and two beds. The front desk representative said she gave us a two king bed room, but that was not the case. It was a two queen bed room. The hotel location is walking distance from the beach, which was great. Overall, the hotel was alright for one night. I hope the customer service improves. read more

So some fees which were kinda pricey- $30 a day resort fee but it included breakfast and parking, including valet so not too bad. Great location on the beach if you go during the summer time, we went in December to see the lights and the hotel did offer shuttle services but it drops you off in town and you walk around- could be a good bit of walking involved. Nice place with very reasonable rates. Friendly front desk staff and good, fast valet service. Assistance with luggage is available if needed. Valet with the accompanying valet charge is the only option at this hotel so be aware and if this bothers you, it might not be the place to go for you. It is located across the street from Publix for anything needed for your room/beach day. This Publix sells beach chairs, beach gear, beach shirts, etc. if needed. Short walk to Vilano Beach as well as to Beaches Restaurant/Marina area. Rooms are always clean, usually quiet in hallways for the most part. Free breakfast downstairs. Coffee/tea available downstairs. Coffee shop across the street is also very good. 2 restaurants on site. One downstairs and one rooftop. Rooftop bar staff gets no stars. We went to brunch at the hotel on a Sunday morning with a group of five people the third weekend in October. There was virtually no one at the rooftop restaurant besides us. The menu is really small. You only have about five choices. We were super disappointed by the lack of variety on the menu and expected to have wider options. Nonetheless, what we all decided to order ended up being really good and everybody said they would order it again. Four of us got the croissant sandwich and I got the shrimp salad. Not too much of a brunch choice having a salad, but it was really good and fresh tasting. I loved the uniqueness of having watermelon radishes. When you're sitting underneath the canopy, where the bar is, you do not see any views of the ocean. The rooftop is not as beautiful as I thought it would be. There's a broad section around most of the rooftop that you cannot get anywhere near the sides and I'm talking like five or 6 feet . Whoever designed the top of this hotel did not design it for rooftop dining. It seemed like it was an afterthought. The food did come fast. Our server was professional and kind. The bar area was really beautifully designed. When you come into the hotel, walk straight to the back of the lobby and go to the elevators that are to the right of the big wall that's covered in ivy with the neon sign that advertises the hotel. I will listen the postives first...great location and is a really nice room. With that said, your view from the balcony is that of a parking lot blocked by a tree. We could have lived with that but the bathroom was covered in someone else's hair. Also, you are forced to valet you car which is a hassle in itself. Stayed in room for maybe 20 30 mins and checked out. Of course Hyatt being a billion dollar company, you would think that would refund the night but nope they did not. Stay away!! read more

Thank you for the super crappy room Hyatt. I read in other reviews - about huge rooms.. ? They must be including the 25 square foot balcony in their total room footage. we have a king room with a balcony and it is small overlooking dirt- literally. Unimpressive- It's also lacking amenities, the front desk woman was not friendly at all, our room is right at the elevators -horrible- - very noisy, music playing and can hear kids screaming through paper thin walls. Very disappointing. I'll give credit where it's due, the valet guy is super friendly and welcoming-he should take over the front desk too. So far he's the only bright spot of our experience at this hotel. read more

Location, location, location! That's what you pay for here. And even that is pretty reasonable. We did stay with a wedding block and I'm not sure if it was discounted or not, but I thought still worth the $200 something a night. The hotel is clean and the staff were wonderful. There is just a touch of outdatedness (making up words here) that I just can't put my finger on. Maybe it was the smell, but that could be the ocean. I didn't get a chance to experience all the amenities being we were busy with wedding festivities. The rooftop pool looked lovely from afar. They had a nice size gym and breakfast was included in the stay. Finally, if you have a car valet is a must. It's an additional $25 a day to valet. My favorites were the men at the valet. They were just lovely to speak with and knowledgeable of the area being locals. The whole trip made me find a new city I love and I can't wait to come back. We went up to the roof top thinking we'd enjoy a bite to eat and a cocktail before going elsewhere for dinner. It's a nice place and you can see the water but it's not what I expected as we had to look over the airconditioning and other roof top items to see it. Appetizers were spicy shrimp and brussle sprouts. The shimp batter made them a bit tough but they were tasty. The sprouts were so broken down that what looked like a full bowl was a lot of overroasted leaves. I wouldn't return but am glad that we checked it out. read more

My wife and I stayed here on April 10th (or 11th) and had an awesome time. The hotel has a laid-back, brand-new feel with a nice pool, good restaurant, and even better service. The staff were super friendly and the valet parking was quick and easy. Best part -- it's only about a two-minute walk to the beach and right across from a supermarket. Perfect spot for a relaxing getaway. We'll definitely be back! read more

BEWARE......What a SCAM for parking. They give you a sheet upon check-in stating that you will be charged $25 per night for valet parking and there's no self parking available. They claim if you park on the street the police department will tow you. My husband and I found that very strange since there was no signs right on the street facing the hotel and all around the area except for PUBLIX supermarket Parking. We called the local police department and they said you will absolutely NOT be towed if there are no signs stating that you cannot park. We told him exactly where we were parked and he said we were fine. There is plenty of free street parking right outside the hotel. When I called and spoke to the manager Kara, she stated that the police department would tow us. After she gave me her story I told her that we already called the police department and she's giving out false information. She did not charge us the $25 per night for parking but we were very disappointed that a Hyatt property is treating their guests this way. read more

Beautiful hotel right by the water! Only a 3 minute walk to the boardwalk. They are a valet only facility so it was difficult to get to our car if we needed to grab something quick. But the facility itself was very clean, sleek and comfortable. Our room was so big and spacious. read more

The good: the hotel is very cute, and it feels more upscale than a Hyatt Place outside and in the lobby. The rooms are huge! They felt pretty clean. The beds were comfortable. The Publix, coffee shop, and restaurant directly across the street, and the 5 minute walk to the gorgeous beach, bump the review from 3 to 4 stars. I visited these establishments multiple times and enjoyed them, along with their convenience. The drive to visit St. Augustine was pleasant and we didn't have any trouble finding parking for dinner or sightseeing. The bad: I guess we didn't research enough, but parking is valet only at $25 a night. I did not expect this from a Hyatt Place. Other reviews mention street parking right across from the hotel, but they must have just added signs that say, "no overnight parking." The signs did look new. I was looking forward to using the rooftop bar/restaurant, but I didn't realize it is only open Thursday-Sunday. The restaurant in the lobby looks nice - but it's very pricey. $20 for a side plate of vegetables. I wanted to grab a drink from the bar when I arrived, but it didn't open until 4pm. And finally - good luck getting a luggage cart at check out. This was a big deal the Friday morning I was there. Many people were waiting, and the carts never came. One cart finally arrived and a man grabbed it out from under me even though I had been waiting longer. I finally gave up and headed back to my room to make multiple trips - and saw a couple starting to leave their room with two luggage carts fully loaded. I had been waiting downstairs for thirty minutes, so they took longer than that with the carts in their room. It seemed like the hotel doesn't have enough carts, and they don't monitor their use. People must have just grabbed them and held on to them for a while until they were ready to leave. It was so infuriating! Front desk and valet just shrugged and said it happens a lot and there's nothing they can do about it. That's ridiculous. read more

So clean, so nice inside however I feel duped. I booked this hotel solely on the fact that they advertised a Heated outdoor pool. I called and checked prior and was told it was working. When I checked in, was told it was working. However after feeling the water I inquired more about the " heated" pool and was told it didn't work!! Supposedly the people who installed the heater system never came back to fix it. This hotel is really new maybe a few months old? I heard about the cost of the heater system , I heard that the staff has begged the Hyatt to remove the advertising of the " heated pool" because everyone is disappointed. FYI: you know it's not working when there are NO kids in the pool! Kids will swim even when it's colder than expected. If the pool does not matter to you then this is a great little place. We recently did a four night stay at Hyatt Place St. Augustine - Vilano Beach over the holidays and here are my feelings on this hotel. 1. The exterior is very unique and very un-Hyatt Place like. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if Hyatt recommended they change the branding of this establishment to a higher level property after a few years. 2. The interior has many of the elements of a Hyatt Place. The breakfast buffet, the cozy corner in the room and the standard Hyatt Place showers and low flow shower heads, however they added a few unique features like hardwood/vinyl floors and balconies. Both are welcome additions. 3. There's a restaurant that shares the ground floor property with a separate entrance, plus they also run the rooftop bar which gives you a nice view of historic downtown Saint Augustine. 4. Service was pretty good overall. They welcomed us with a smile, albeit but not surprising, there was no recognition of Hyatt status since Hyatt Places provide breakfast to all guests and there are no suite upgrades. 5. The location was a little bit out of the way at Vilano Beach, but still close enough that you can walk...a long walk to downtown Saint Augustine or drive across the river. The proximity to the beach however was a major positive for this property. Two negatives of this property are one, the price can get high for what the brand is offering. Paying $400/night seems outrageous for a Hyatt Place, especially minus some of the amenities that other hotels at the category can offer. The other is the parking. Charging $25 per night for valet only parking is outrageous. There is ample parking space in the lot and I get that the restaurant offers valet, but that shouldn't penalize the hotel guests as well. My suggestion is to skip the parking and park on the street. There were ample spots right in front of the property, but note that there are signs at the Publix across the street that says they will tow if you park overnight in their lot. Otherwise, the street parking is a plenty. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. Getting to walk on the beach in the morning. The hotel has a small, but serviceable gym and when the weather allows, there is a pool to use. I would definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Saint Augustine. read more

The beach was amazing it's literally down the road. The service was nice and breakfast was good.

We did not use the hotel valet parking. There is plenty of free street parking, and we never had a problem finding a space 10 feet front the hotel entrance. The rooftop bar and downstairs restaurant are closed Mondays. The beach was a 3 min walk for two for adults carrying chairs and a beach bag. The hotel golf cart will drop you off at the beach access if needed. There are very limited restaurant options in Vilano Beach. The Publix, Publix Liquor Store, Surfside Restaurant, and a Chinese food restaurant are directly across the street from the hotel. There is a pizza restaurant (180) and seafood restaurant (Beaches) a few blocks away at the pier. There is a coffee shop across the street that has the best flourless chocolate cookie that we've ever had. Hotel breakfast was good. Lots of options and seating. Pool is NOT heated. We were on the 3rd floor and had zero noise problems. About 40% of the rooms have balconies. There's a nature boardwalk that goes under the Usina Bridge and you can walk on/across the Usina Bridge. read more

Lucky to stay here five days after they opened. So everything to new and nice. Hotel is very very nice and in a fantastic location. This area is beautiful just a couple blocks from the water. My only complaint is when I originally booked the room the hotel had not opened yet and there was no mention of valet parking, however when I checked in was told valet was mandatory and is $25 per day so make sure to include that in your budget.
