My mom and I were coming into St. Augustine for her birthday to see the Sing Out Loud concert, and wanted to stay near downtown St. Augustine... but not close enough to be anywhere that felt haunted... The Voco was an ideal place to stay. It is a modern boutique hotel and about a 10 minute walk from downtown St. Augustine. Everyone we met on the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I felt ZERO ghostly spirits around and no bad juju, which is hard to find in St. Augustine, honestly. Everything was super clean and crisp-looking. It was quaint and quirky, but I enjoyed that about the hotel. It wasn't your run-of-the-mill hotel. The room came with a big TV, a very cozy bed, and a bigger-than-usual mini fridge, which was AMAZINGGG because we had made a pit stop at Buc-ee's for birthday treats and fun... I am obsessed with IHG's bathroom products. Their shampoo is incredible. And the room was pretty quiet- we didn't hear our neighbors. The bar area looked really tempting. We heard the breakfast there is realllllly good- unfortunately, we didn't have time to hang out at the bar or have breakfast. We did pop into the littleee convenience/shop area for a pint of ice cream which hit the spot after coming home from dinner. There is free covered parking below the hotel (and more parking available outside), which is super convenient. The gym looked nice. I love that they had laundry machines. The ice machine was always fully stocked and working. We had a great stay at Voco and really enjoyed our 3 days there. I highly recommend it and would stay there again. read more

We got a great deal on a last minute trip to St. Augustine. The set up is like a cute, boutique hotel. You can tell this used to be something else and got renovated and re branded. From the reviews I see it was a la quinta. The lobby was very well done, a spacious bar, nice seating for breakfast. The check in was 10/10 - the hospitality, the dining recommendations, the directions. Honestly we felt like we were staying at a B&B, that's how much care the staff had for getting us settled in. The room, on the other hand, was dated and had an odor but we let the staff know and we were switched out immediately to another. The location was great - we walked into town, over the Bridge and explored all night. We came back over the bridge to dine later on but as long as you have good walking shoes on, you're good to go! read more

I utilized my IHG reward points to book a stay in St Augustine to partake in the Night of Lights. This was my first time staying at a VOCO hotel. I really enjoyed my stay. I parked in the covered area on the ground level of the hotel. I checked in and received 2 chocolates as a welcome. The hotel isn't very large but the lobby was very pretty with a full size bar and dining area. The hallways were clean leading to the room. The room was also very clean and smelled fresh. A plus was the 2 glass carafes of water located in the refrigerator. A Nespresso machine was provided in the room with 8 Nespresso pods, creamers, and cups. The room wasn't very large but was plenty for 2 guests. The only thing I would recommend would be touching up some of the damages to the paint on the walls within the room. So we got a good deal on Expedia and having decent reviews, good pictures and great location we chose this over others. Definitely one of the nicer/updated non haunted hotels in the area. The young man at the front desk helped up both days and was very nice. The entrance is awkward and uninviting but it's what they could make of the weird setup. The lobby is small but very pretty and clean. The building overall is quite small, but it worked. We got a room on the top floor (floor 2). Everything seemed clean, definitely moisture issue signs on the paint in the bathroom but nothing health threatening. The cracked sink should be replaced but I feel they save the rougher rooms for guests that use a third party. We called in about not having hot water, but not having time for it to be fixed before we had to go sort of stunk. Starting my day with a cold shower isn't ideal! Also, one of our bath towels had a hole in it. I didn't mean to be so negative, I would stay here again, at the right price ($130 or less), but the $300 they are getting right now is a bit crazy. We needed a place to stay while in St. Augustine for a concert, and decided upon the Voco. Overall, it was an ok stay, with the room, bed, and streaming connection capabilities being pluses, while the lack of an operating elevator, dated interior, and condition of one of the stairwells made the experience more to be desired. Location-wise, it's great given its location by the bridge to Old Town and closeness in vicinity to St. Augustine Beach and The Amp. The lobby is stylish with a nice bar and a small Wine room for ordering a bottle for the room. The pool area is very sleek in design with nice chairs to lounge outside. The room was very cozy with a nice shower and an incredibly comfortable king-sized bed. We slept very well and were able to connect our streaming app to the TV. What was frustrating was the elevator, which was down for repairs while we were there. Although, I dealt with carrying our suitcase up two flights of stairs, for those that can't manage lifting multiple luggage, it will be a challenge if the elevator isn't working. There is only one elevator for the hotel so if it's not working, you are left with one of the stairwells, which one of them looks like it is in need of being renovated. read more

The hotel is located right on the main street (Anastasia Blvd) leading to the bridge into downtown St. Augustine. It took 15 min, a casual stroll from hotel, across bridge to downtown. It was easy and enjoyable although not sure I would walk it on a hot summer day. There is no free shuttle but instead access to an on call golf cart at $5/person each way. The hotel is fine, clean, well maintained with an attractive bar/lobby/restaurant area on the first floor, right beside the small yet quaint outdoor pool. But this hotel has no views. You either look out over a parking lot, over main street or over a pub, which can go until 2 am. We chose a double queen, instead of a king, to ensure we were on the opposite side from the pub facing the back lot. Room is quiet, comfortable and equipped with a small beverage fridge and Nespresso coffee machine and basic amenities. During our stay, housekeeping had limited hours so be sure to check on that. read more

Stayed here because we were attending a wedding at the White Room. Great location if you want to walk less than a mile to historic downtown and enjoy the beautiful view from the Bridge of Lions along the way. The location also offers some close by restaurants and bars like Sarbez and Odd Birds. I really loved the design of the hotel with the parking lot on the ground floor under the hotel. It gave us shade from the rain with plenty of room and I felt like our car was safe. Rooms were clean and the design was eye catching from the check in lobby to the St Augustine photos that were perfectly coordinated in our room. It's a small place (I think 50 rooms) but they fit a lot with a rooftop pool and nice sized gym. Breakfast had a good mix of cold and hot items and the eggs were actually good which I feel is not common at hotels. Would stay again. read more

We stayed here at the end of October as we finished a nine-day southern road trip. After staying in Airbnb in several cities, we decided to stay at a hotel. Voco came up and was considerably less expensive than many Airbnbs and downtown hotels. It is only a short walk or drive across the Lions Bridge into the historic district, and they had plenty of parking. We called from on the road to ask about early check-in as we would be an hour or so early getting to St. Augustine. The employee was pleasant and told us they would do their best but didn't think it would be an issue. As it was, we arrived only about 25 minutes early and were checked in right away. There is plenty of parking under the building and a large parking area just behind the hotel. There are a few accessible parking spaces and an elevator or stairs to the main level. The hotel is fresh and new and has a cool mix of deco styling with modern touches. Registration, a small bar, and a restaurant are located on the main entrance, with an outdoor pool and deck behind the bar. Check-in went smoothly, and as IHG rewards members, we each got a poker chip good for a drink at the bar - a nice touch. Our room was just around the corner from the main area, but we never heard any notice. The room was a nice size with a big spacious bathroom. We loved having a mini-fridge, all the outlets, and USB ports, and the bed and linens were amazingly comfortable! We also liked walking to a couple of local restaurants and bars without moving the car. I'll start my review by noting that this property has been recently remodeled and rebranded as voco St Augustine - an IHG hotel. Parking is free & very plentiful with covered parking on the entire ground floor and two open lots across the narrow alley behind the building. One level up, via stairs or elevator, is the front desk with lobby, hotel bar & pool. Though all of these public areas are fairly small, this hotel doesn't have a lot of rooms so everyone has room to spread out comfortably. Before I get into my review, I'll cut to the point & tell you that this is overall a great hotel. Just across the Bridge of Lions from the historic district, the location is perfect if you have a car so you can drive into town or head to the beach. The room appointments are nice and new, with a good layout. Plus the room rates are incredibly reasonable! Because I ended up booking the day of our arrival (Friday), and knew we'd be checking in late that night, I called ahead to make sure my room wouldn't be given away. Eric answered the phone & was incredibly helpful. He advised that checking in at midnight would not be a problem (reflected on the website by a no-show fee of one night), and parking should also not be an issue because they were not fully booked at that moment. When we checked in that night, hubs asked for a room with "a view", and David gave us room overlooking the pool which was perfect. And quiet! The beds & pillows were so comfortable, and the room seemed very clean. The mini fridge was great because I never finish my meals and I ended up with a ton of leftovers that weekend. The lamps with USB ports & electrical outlets, as well as the charging hub on the nightstand, were awesome, and I loved the rain shower head! I did notice that our room had no microwave but we had no need for one. That said, I would have appreciated instructions on how to use the coffee maker. One of my favorite little things about this hotel was the scent. It was amazing! As soon as we entered the elevator area in the parking garage, I could smell whatever that scent was. Every single time, too. Maybe it was eucalyptus, but with a twist? I appreciated that the lobby bar was never really closed (as far as I saw). Though we arrived really late on Friday night (around midnight), we were able to unwind with a beer on the patio by the pool before turning in (and didn't have to drive or walk elsewhere). Also, our encounters with housekeeping were very pleasant; we didn't really need service during our stay aside from a couple of fresh towels & a couple of rolls of toilet paper. On Sunday, the 2nd floor ice maker was out of ice most of the day, but I simply went down to the lobby level for ice. Inconvenient, yes, but certainly not a big deal. My only *complaint* was that I'd originally been looking for a property that was pet-friendly (which voco is), but by the time hubs & I decided when we could drive over from Tampa, my son in Jacksonville (with his dog) didn't think he'd be able to stay with us any nights. Then, the day after we checked in, my son decided that he could stay one night, however our room was not a pet-friendly room. I understood that we'd have to pay a pet fee but maybe if we'd known at check in that not every room was pet-friendly, we would have requested one of those instead of a room overlooking the pool. I'll add that this was NOT an issue... my son's drive to visit us was less than 40 minutes so he was still able to visit us every day of our stay. We don't usually travel with our dogs so I didn't know to confirm that our room was dog-friendly, though the property definitely is. This property is such a hidden gem! I have already recommended voco to friends looking for affordable luxe lodging in St Augustine for the holiday season. And I will definitely stay here again. read more

A real plus is Lloyd the 12 passenger golf cart driver that will take you to many places including the amphitheater & historic district. This is now part of the Holiday Inn chain. It nice little hotel. There is a gym on the second floor, a pool on the 1floor, small bar area that is very nice. They have an eating area and you can buy breakfast or dinner. The menu is limited, but there is enough for most to pick from. There is some under hotel parking and the overflow lot is behind the hotel. They use prox cards vs mag stripe which is great. Good size TV and little desk area. There is a chair with a foot rest to watch TV. Fastest elevator of our trip! The printer was broken couldn't get a printout of the bill have to email. Highly recommended. It's over the bridge closer to the beach which gets you out of the downtown rush and parking nightmare. All the staff was very friendly. read more

It has delicious espresso in the rooms. Free glass bottle water. New super comfy beds. They actually do room service every day. Super friendly staff. The serve expresso and coffee in the lobby better than Starbucks. Gourmet breakfast, amazing wine list and delicious light night fare. Pool on second floor was very nice and it looks like some of the hotel had been renovated. Not a bad location. You can walk to town but it is a hike. I stayed at La Quinta Inn for one night about two weeks ago. The hotel itself is brand new! We checked in pretty late (a little past midnight) and the staff at the front desk was extremely kind. The room was clean and pretty large- one weird thing about it was the the window was facing the pool which could be weird if there were people swimming.... but it wasn't a problem because the pool wasn't even filled with water yet! The mattress was a little bit hard but the pillows were nice and comfortable. The next morning we wanted to walk over to the historic district (only about a one mile walk) and the hotel let us keep our car in their parking lot for the day. Rude GM will hang up on you after not seeing refund through. When we booked, over a MONTH ago, we were told we'd not be charged for rooms until we arrived. Instead of two, we were charged four nights. My gf and I have been repeatedly calling this place, they even know our name. When I demanded we get our refund finalized once and for all, SCOTT, the GM, started speaking with an irate condescending tone which I was not about to tolerate. His response? We had a fantastic stay here! Very nice room. Perfectly located. Short, pleasant walk over the bridge to the main sites in Saint Augustine. Rooms were virtually sound proof. Although we had no pets with us, many guests did. But they were never a nuisance. Morning breakfast was tasty. My only complaint is the staff that was serving it were not masked. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because it seemed that masks were optional with the staff, especially those serving the food. Big no-no. This hotel is a great place to stay and a pleasant surprise! The hotel is well decorated with all the conveniences in the room including microwave , refrigerator and coffee and a comfortable bed! The common areas offer a sparkling clean pool, Business Center and complimentary breakfast that was hot & tasty offering eggs, sausage, waffles, etc. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. First of all I learned a hard lesson. Book your stay directly with the hotel. Do not use Expedia. Here is a honest overview: The hotel is very new so advertisement isn't correct. I booked this hotel based on the review that it had a heated pool and was on the beach. I unfortunately booked through Expedia which charged me March Season rates even though the site stated all monies would be collected by hospital. So my credit card was charged over $700 for a two night stay !!!! When we arrived we almost passed the hotel. It is small and definitely not on beach. We followed the maze from parking to front desk. We met "Scott". Nicest man ever. He told us the pool could not be used. No there is not a heated or even a second pool. Definitely not on beach. 1 mile walk to historic district and 1 mile walk to beach. We had no choice but to stay because our monies would not have been refunded. Scott was so nice and understanding but just could not help us because we booked through Expedia. Hotel is beautiful and room is clean and beds are comfortable. Staff are so so nice. Breakfast is great. It was hard to enjoy our visit because I was so worried about the money taken out of our account and fearful it would not be fixed as promised. I only gave this hotel 3 stars based on the false advertising and financial screw up. Unfortunately I would not stay here again because I wanted the beach and pool. However I would recommend this hotel on off season I really think they should have offered us a complimentary night for all the mistakes that were made. Arrived with a PREPAID reservation. Hotel asked for a CC card, only for incidentals. Charged me $50. (Was a temporary hold and eventually removed)..fine. They also charged that CC a daily room rate for every night I was there. After the first night, I brought it to the attention of 3 employees including Scott, who I believe to be the manager. He assured me it was a mistake, should not have happened, won't happen again and it was clearly visible in his system that the stay was prepaid. It continued to happen every day. I calmly and very patiently Spoke to Eric upon checkout who was baffled and no help at all. At one point he made a comment to me insinuating that I was trying to get a free hotel stay. Even though he could see and acknowledged the prepayment. I was totally offended and couldn't believe what i was hearing. All I wanted was a Hotel Folio showing a zero balance, which he could not provide. He then actually charged that same CC again, for the entire stay, which i noticed after returning home. You can't make this up. After now sorting through the CC charges at home, I reached out to Scott for one last attempt to solve this problem. Seems like he wants to help. He assured me I would revive an email with the details of the credit, which I have not received. So I'm now Waiting for a Credit and will update this review accordingly. read more

I've stayed in La Quinta hotels before so when I decided to come with my parents to St.Augustine I booked a room at La Quinta. Big mistake this La Quinta was disgusting. The lobby is nice so it's deceiving when I took elevator to 2nd floor as soon as I got off the musty cigarette smell from the carpets was the first thing that hit me. When I opened the door to the room that odor was just the same in the room. When I booked room I explained that I wanted one room for one night for 3 adults. Brandon from the front desk said all that was available was a suite with a sitting area that had a pullout couch. Well when we checked in it was a room with a couch which upon inspection was horrible. The bare mattress was flimsy and when I pulled it up the frame was dirty and disgusting. There were no sheets no where to be found in the room. Apparently you have to get them from the front desk which I did that night. The lady who was at the front desk when I went to get sheets was not very pleasant when I told her about the disgusting bed frame. Her response was I just got on I will let housekeeping know. When I brought the sheets upstairs they were ripped. I feel for what we paid we were robbed. I will absolutely never stay in this La Quinta my fear of bugs crawling on me kept me up all night. read more

One of the best la Quinta around. So very clean and updated. Staff was wonderful. Made having our pooch so easy. Bathroom was spotless. The old district was a good walk and so pretty. About a half mile but it was so beautiful you didn't mind. Breakfast was nice and easy and good coffee to boot. Don't hesitate to stay in a very very nice hotel that is not too expensive.
