This hotel is in a great location! Across the street from the beach and less than 10 minutes from all the historic district attractions. There was ample free parking, a well maintained pool area, and some packaged breakfast items available. The room was clean upon entry and stocked with everything that we needed. The biggest issue I took was with a miserable staff member working one evening. I walked into the lobby to request an additional blanket for the room. In that nastiest tone I've ever heard, she said "I'll see if we even have any". After locating one, she put it on a cart and shoved it towards me. Didn't hand it to me or wish me a nice evening. I was beyond put off by that attitude. I am not sure what I did to deserve it. I was polite, but I'll assume her day was miserable. That's the main reason though for the deduction of stars. Staff needs some customer service skills. Given the convenience of the location, I'd stay again. It was a great price for a weekend stay near the beach. This place was a medium-frills good place to stay for the price. We didn't use the pool but the room was very newly renovated and very quiet and nice. The breakfast was not so great (food was 90% very processed) and the dining room is very small and not that charming but we weren't so interested in the free breakfast anyway. Manager and staff were exceedingly helpful when (Thru no fault of theirs) my travel site reservation was not accessible. James advocated for me with the travel site and offered a resolution that more than met my family's needs. They could have told me to deal with the travel site because it wasn't their issue but they treated us with kindness and let us know how much they valued our business. It was a great experience. I'm a gold card member of Best Western so here's my review. I often wonder what the difference is between a 4 star & 5 star review. It was a great hotel & stay & id like to share the minor details as to why it was only 4 starts. Phones in room didn't work. Pool was not opened until we went in 30 minutes past opening time & asked them to unlock the gate. The hot tub temperature was dangerously hot. We reported it as they were setting themselves up for a lawsuit had a child gotten in. We own a hot tub & are familiar with what's acceptable. Disappointed the one night we were there that we couldn't use it. Due to late opening of pool area the next day we didn't have a chance to use it. Room card keys worked sporadically, but could of been our fault as cell phones can disable them? Never heard that. I would definitely stay there again & recommend it. The front desk service went smooth. However, parking was an issue because of on going renovations. My car and others got full of wall panel dust. They were cutting the boards (Still in Progress) in the parking lot. Dust blown all over. No thought of having it blocked off by a partition. The dust also blew down from the second floor. I so wanted to give this place a 5 star, but it was not to be. They have recently renovated so the room is clean and fresh. The bathroom is tiled floor to ceiling and the floor is tiled in a beautiful design. Unfortunately they spent money on the materials and forgot functional design. Their nice new desk area has no outlets. Their only light in the room is a floor lamp and one side table light. The only outlets they have on a flat service is the side table light with one 110v outlet and one USB-A outlet. The 110v outlet is so low against the table you can't use a USB adapter unless you raise the lamp by putting the mesh table which hold the coffee bags under the lamp. The only other 110v outlets are on the wall by the door and one close to the window which is shared with the floor lamp. When they designed the bathroom they added a lovely large mirror with a frosted border and the mirror stands away from the wall. It stands away from the wall enough that the facet handle bangs the mirror when you turn the water on. Sometime in the future that is not going to go well. Also, the mirror is large enough that it covers an outlet with about 1-inch space, not enough to get a plug in. Luckily there is another outlet on the other side of the mirror. Unfortunately the designer chose a fancy dancy one which crams the two sockets together so you can't use two USB adapters at the same time. For a vacation and travel hotel having sufficient charging locations is vital. Having to charge a computer in the bathroom is a poor design. Having to have the guests keep an eye on electronic items charging and switch them out in a timely fashion does not make a relaxing vacation. The room was quiet the two nights we were there. We used the laundry facility which was very basic. One washer and one dryer in the hallway, not in a room. Breakfast was basic with some nice additions. Dehydrated eggs and sausage as the main. Waffle machine and a yogurt dispenser, both with a nice addition of strawberries, blueberries and pineapple as toppings. Fruit=it juice dispenser with orange, grapefruit and strawberry. Small packaged muffins, bagels but no pastries. Cereal is available with different types of milk. Quite a few restaurants are close on A1A. read more

Truly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The rooms are super comfortable and very spacious. The room and bathroom were both clean. The beds were extremely comfortable with plenty of pillows for a good night sleep. Location is key, the beach is literally right across the street from the beaches. You have a long strip of beaches right in front of you. The staff is very attentive and will help with directions, suggestions and anything else you may need. The daily breakfast was very tasty and they offered a variety of choices which made it easy even for the most pickiest of eaters. We did not use the pool but it was available to about 10PM. We enjoyed our stay and if we come back to the area will absolutely use this hotel again. read more

You know the saying you get what you pay for, here you get way more of what you payed for, there are very comfortable beds, good lighting, WiFi , free breakfast, and for the price that you pay for it is an excellent choice. We stayed here in October 2018 but I forgot to do a review for it. I will be staying at this hotel from now on! It's so close to the beach which is why we came. You walk across the main road, down the side road that acts like a driveway for the houses along it, across the wooden bridge, and up the mini sand dune and you're on the beach! The room itself was clean, calming, and very aesthetically pleasing to me. From what I remember the staff was nice. There was a lady cleaning it when we got there because they let us check in a little early. We did have what I assume was locals, tell us to "get the F off of the road!" when we were on the side road heading back to the hotel, but other than that no issues. read more

We stayed here for a wedding. The room we had was clean and cool. Our tub didn't have a stopper but the handy man was very helpful trying to put one in. The staff was friendly. The only negatives were parking (It was hard to find a spot) and they have a little tub which looks like a hot tub but is not. On the last night they switched us to a suite it was really roomy. Bed was pretty good, but I've seen better in other hotels. Be sure to ask for more blankets if you get cold at night because the blanket and sheet provided are thinner than a quarter put together. Breakfast was decent. Good amount of options, and you wouldn't leave there hungry. Coffee is ok. Pancake AND waffle maker available. 4/5 because breakfast and the bed were not 5 stars. read more

The room was filthy. I discovered it when I dropped water on the tile and wiped it up with a white towel that turned black after using it to clean up the water. The last day we stayed, I removed the bags from the sides of the bed so my service puppy wouldn't go in between the bed and the wall. As soon I did, he ran under there and came back out with a USED, NASTY CONDOM. My nine yo son had to see this and it was absolutely disgusting! They don't clean their rooms!!!!!! Disgusting place. We couldn't even get to the beach from the hotel because they are too cheap to make stairs to go down! Probably cost $1k in materials...just 3 nights of one persons stay!!!!!! Stayed over the weekend at Best West St.Augustine Beach Inn , rooms were remodeled and nicely updated , they were clean (with an exception to a few ants but that is not a big deal) Amazing complimentary breakfast that included so many choices and was nice and hot . Staff was friendly and attentive exp when i locked myself out of my room at three am ! My only complaint was that the pillows were terrible , we had a king size bed and the pillows were the size of couch pillows and all lumpy . Other than that the stay was great , it was located so close to everything , the hot tub was really nice after a long day of walking around St. Augustine , we will most definitely return ! read more

This place is not worth the stay. Upon arrival the exterior looks nice and clean. The lobby is also very nice, clean, and friendly staff. Now let's get to the not so good stuff, the room hit us with a nasty musky, damp, and moldy smell. We asked for a room transfer and the new room was worth than our initial one. Since we had already paid, we decided to deal with it. The next day room service cleaned the room, it was clear they did not care about there job, beds were a mess, towels thrown on bathroom counter. Beautifully redecorated older hotel. We booked on line in advance and got a wonderful rate with pre payment. Less this 100.00 a night to be across the street from the ocean. We arrived a little early and our room was not ready yet which was not a problem. We took a little tour to scope out the restaurants and headed to the ocean. We were able to head back to the hotel and use the very comfortable pool which we had to ourselves. The check in processes was painless. We were asked if we wanted the 1st floor or 2nd floor. Liked that they give us a choice. We chose 1st and we were on our way. The room was very nicely done and large. The bed was very comfortable with many pillows. Also, lots of towels. The wifi worked great. Each morning they included hot breakfast with the stay. Everything from eggs to waffles, sausage and bacon. Yogurt and granola and even almond milk. Coffee, hot tea and hot chocolate were out 24/7. Staff was very helpful and very polite. Why no 5 stars? Well we had an issue with ants in the room and the very comfortable pool was not cleaned for 2 days and it looked it. I would still overall stay here again with no issues about it. read more

This hotel is run by some of the nicest people we encountered during our recent road trip so for them alone I give an extra star. The actual hotel itself for me was probably a 3 star kind of place. The hotel rooms themselves are decent - clean and comfortable and along the lines of what you'd expect from a well-kept Best Western hotel. The location is also pretty nice - in St. Augustine beach, across the street from the actual beach, with a pool, and near several restaurants and bars. But, there are several places right on the beach that you could choose from. And the walls here are fairly thin so if you are a light sleep, or probably even a medium sleeper, you might not get much sleep if you have noisy neighbors. Luckily the nights we stayed no one was noisy past about 10 PM. The do have a regular continental breakfast and free Wi-Fi so those are two more pluses if you needed them. All in all Sir Nicholas and I had a pleasant stay here, but next time I'm in town we would probably be inclined to try a different spot that's right on the beach so we can hear the surf as we fall asleep. read more

Stayed here for a girls weekend. Stayed in a newly remodeled room, which was verily nicely done. The walls are extremely thin and we could hear the family next door as if they were in the room with us. The freezer was over due for a defrost and wouldn't close. The parking lot is shared with the Hampton Inn and there is not enough parking for both hotels. People were parked I handicap spots behind storage facility and even blocking the exits to the street. Oh and the wifi was horrid! We had better reception using cellar and one bar. If you want to get away and not have wifi this is the place and if you don't mind thin walls this is a nice place. read more

Stayed at this BW this past weekend was surprised at how nice the hotel was. The place was very clean and the staff here was great. When we arrived our room was all ready for us and we were able to check in and hit the beach right away. The beach is right across A1A from the hotel, so the only negative to that is the traffic, but people were more than happy to stop to let you cross the street. The hotel itself is pretty nice with a small pool that was perfect for a quick dip when coming back from the beach, the rooms were very clean, maid service here does a great job at cleaning your room and refreshing the supplies, front desk staff is great at making sure you are satisfied and recommending places to go for dinner and other attractions, the location is close to the historical district with a short drive across the bridge to go into town, and of course there is the beach right across the street. In the mornings they have a pretty decent selection for a continental breakfast of juices, coffee, bagels, pastries, waffles, fruit, and boiled eggs. The breakfast area and dining area do get really cramped, but you just have to deal with it. We just grabbed our breakfast items and walked across to the beach for a breakfast picnic. I'll certainly keep the BW in mind next time I visit St. Augustine Beach. read more

Extremely dissatisfied. The room smells like a cross between mothballs and mold. A bra was lying on the floor when we checked in (hours after it had been "cleaned") and a used hand towel and wash cloth hung over the hangers next to the sink. The final touch was that the air conditioning unit didn't work and there was no way to circulate air through the room. Front desk staff were friendly and apologized, but said there was nothing they could do. Because we booked through Orbitz, Best Western said it couldn't even cancel the reservation so we could try to find a better place to stay. Stay somewhere else. We just returned from a 4 day/3 night trip down to take care if some personal business/ vacation. The room was spacious with a King size bed, chair with ottoman, desk, dresser, 2 night stands & a mini fridge in a nice piece of furniture. The bathroom was large with a pocket door. The shower had very nice European style tiling in it. The only thing I felt was missing in the bathroom was a hand towel rack closer to the sink for convenience. The towels were tied in a cute bow when we arrived. In case you are like me and unsure of where to find your hand towel, it's the bow part :) The staff was very friendly & helpful in many different ways that made a big difference.( they had a corkscrew for our wine we bought forgetting that of course we don't have one, very helpful with directions multiple times). The free "continental" breakfast included eggs, sausage and/or bacon(if u get there early enough) & waffles, not to mention the usual muffins, Danish & cereal. It was a very nice spread. The rooms were very clean & cleaned well each day! My only issue really with the room was the bed was too soft for me. I have back problems and the bed truly made it worse. I am a unique situation though. If you are looking for an ocean view, it may be on the second floor. I personally didn't see an elevator but that doesn't mean that there isn't one as our room was on the main floor near the pool. I have always been a fan of the best western hotels. stayed here for 1 night for a celebration and it was very satisfying. the room was very clean and no complaints. I was very happy with the location and the close proximity to the beach. I love the A1A area of Florida the long stretch of roads and shopping and restaurants in the area to eat and enjoy. we went to visit St. Augustine to check out the famous night of lights in downtown. I highly recommend this attraction as well. the front desk staff was very nice and oh my goodness the breakfast in the lobby is so good. Despite being in the middle of remodeling the stay was very good. The room we had was freshly renovated and it made us feel as if we were in a brand new hotel. The only issue was parking. The lot is TINY and if you have to drive around to the back and the lot is full you may have to back your way out unless you drive a tiny smart car. They are land locked with no real opportunity for lot expansion but this is a serious problem here for sure. read more

This Best Western motel confused me. Everything in the room was nice but the room itself was not so nice. Like putting lipstick on a pig, if you will. I don't have a lot of negative stuff to say other than the fact that the parking lot was tight and I had to Austin Powers my way out. I guess the front door seemed cheap as it had no heft to it and the walls were very thin as we could hear all of our neighbors. They offer a warm breakfast which is nice but the wifi was abysmal. My wife and I couldn't even update our blog or do more yelp reviews. We got to spend a lot of time in the hotel since it was raining and it was fine for a night. Stayed here for a couple nights when visiting St Augustine. Easy to find and lots of parking. The room was very nice like it just has been renovated. Spacious room and bathroom was a good size.Good location and across the the street from a beach access. There is also a weekly farmer market a few blocks away. They have continental breakfast that is served every morning. They also proved complimentary bottle water in the mini fridge. They also have a swimming pool. Friendly service. Check and and check out was easy and the rooms were clean. They dont currently have the gym or their breakfast and the staff was not super friendly. We bought drinks from the lobby and the employee was upset when we asked if we could pay for our $6 purchase with a $20, so we offered to pay card and he said "well it's too late now I already chose that you are paying cash so I'll just have to make change".
