We loved the dual shower in the bathroom and the robes were such a nice touch. We had wonderful sleep! In the morning, we were served the loveliest breakfast and enjoyed conversation with the other guests. I highly recommend the Centennial House with Roseanne and her team. We will definitely be staying here every time we visit St. Augustine from now on!

That said, I would not personally choose this room again due to comfort issues related to sleep. The bed creaked loudly with every movement, and the very soft topper made it uncomfortable. The left side of the bed also lacked a bedside table, leaving no place for essentials like a phone or water, which was incredibly inconvenient. Since comfortable sleep is a primary reason for booking lodging, this was a drawback for me. While the property offers other rooms that may be better in this regard, at close to $450 per night during the holidays, I did expect a higher level of comfort and functionality. There were also a few minor inconveniences. The ice machine dispensed only one glassful at a time and used a shared scoop that was returned to the container. The included wine was presented in unmarked bottles, and clearer labeling would have made it easier to feel confident in its quality. Housekeeping was not provided daily and had to be requested each time. On one occasion, only the trash was removed and a few extra towels were left. The jacuzzi tub was never cleaned between uses, and I had to clean it myself before each use. Breakfast was good, and the staff kindly accommodated our dietary needs. Guests staying in the Pearl Room do need to walk across the street for breakfast, which makes it feel less seamless than simply going downstairs. On the positive side, the Pearl Room does offer a high level of privacy, which we appreciated. Overall, the staff was kind, and there were aspects of the stay we truly enjoyed. However, several comfort and service issues would need to be addressed before this property could be considered excellent.

It was within walking distance of historic St. Augustine and the price was reasonable so I booked The Loft for the night. I had no idea what I was getting at first but was I impressed. Upon arrival, I was a bit confused because there was a closed sign on the store below and I really didn't know where to go to check-in. I called the number and the owners picked up and walked out from downstairs. The owners were very nice and showed me up to the loft. The loft was the room above their store and it was the only room. The loft consisted of four rooms - the larger room had a bed in the middle hanging from four chains (there are legs under the bed that holds it up and it doesn't sway), a couple of couches and a television. There was also this funky light show mechanism on the wall which was nice to have on. The dining room had a table and chairs, mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The bathroom had a clawfoot tub and they offered bath salts. There was another small room where one could sit at a table and do makeup. This room also had a clothes rack as there was no closet. My favorite place to be at was on the porch looking over San Marco Avenue. Here I sat and read in between people watching. My only cons to the loft was the remote control wasn't synced with both the cable and television and I had to get out of bed to turn the tv off. Also, the bathroom mirror was so small, I had to bend down a bit to comb my hair. Also, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the place was haunted cause I heard a few odd noises during the night.

Let's start with the positives: The location is still amazing--right next to one of our favorite spots, Pierre's Pub, which makes it super convenient for a fun night out. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the pillows were perfect, and the weekday front desk receptionist was hands-down the highlight of our stay. She's always so warm, friendly, and accommodating--truly a gem. That said, the overall vibe felt different this time around. The lobby has been redone and looks nice, but it seems to have lost some of that quaint B&B charm we remembered. The courtyard, which used to be such a welcoming place to relax with coffee or breakfast, felt a bit run-down and not as well maintained--like something was missing, even if we couldn't quite put our finger on it. We stayed in Room 4 again, and just a heads up: it's on the third floor and requires climbing into the tub to shower. If you have any mobility concerns, this could be a challenge and potentially a slip risk. The biggest change for us was the removal of breakfast. It's now just an inn rather than a true bed & breakfast. While they did send an email about this after booking, we didn't fully realize the impact until we arrived. For us, that morning coffee-and-breakfast experience is a big part of why we choose B&Bs--especially in a place like St. Augustine where there are so many great options. The rooms are elegant, spacious and the beds are wonderfully comfortable. The innkeepers are truly wonderful hosts and were always available to answer questions or just to chat. I always rate a B n B based on looks, comfort, and especially on their breakfast selection. Coffee was freshly brewed first thing and they served a two course breakfast that pleated is for a day of exploring. The egg 'flan' was perfectly cooked and the breakfast parfait were a refreshing treat. They also accommodate special requests. Fresh water, tea, kureg coffee and wonderful Mexican cookies were available throughout the day and wine, beer and soda were kept cold in the mini refrigerator. Overall I rate this as a 5++ star place to stay. You will not be disappointed.

A perfect combo. There are several cottage options connected with this company but we opted for the Atlantic Suite. Our family members also rented two other cottages including the Royal suite and one other one right below us. The Royal Suite is a bit smaller but has stellar views and a beautiful bathroom with full bathtub and separate shower. Our Atlantic Suite has everything and is perfect for a traveling family. Full kitchen. Dining area. Full roomy living room. Decent sized separate bedroom with King bed. Full bath with shower and separate sink area. We love it! Special amenities: although separate from the downtown main BnB, you get access to their amenities. Happy Hour daily. Wine, beer, and sangria. Appetizers too. And daily free breakfast (or breakfast basket delivered to your cottage). And free downtown parking. As is the case with any accommodation, this place had it's problems/limitations. CONS 1. Doors are not properly sealed so the bugs get inside. 2. The kitchen doesn't have much so you may need things during your stay. 3. Not baby safe. Many outlets including ones on the floor! Also a huge wooden staircase that leads to nowhere. 4. All of the windows are dirty (probably from the beach air and sand) and I dont think they go to the trouble of cleaning them in between guest stays. 5. The pictures of this place were probably done awhile ago because it is super run down in real life compared to pics. Still nice but the pics set your expectations to be higher than reality. 6. If you need anything from the front desk, it might be hours before they can help. This is due to the fact that the cottages are managed by the Inn that's located 10 min away. 7. Rental comes with free full breakfast and Happy Hour but the breakfast is mediocre. Given that it's free, we ate it. Good enough to eat but nothing special (the website makes it seem like their breakfasts are amazing and gourmet).

The Oceanview Cottage was right next door and was larger with 2 bedrooms and 1 1/2 bathrooms on the 2nd floor with parking below. The living room and full kitchen were very comfortable as were the bedrooms/baths for the 4 of us for 4 nights. And it was just a few steps further from the beach. Overall the location was very laid back, clean and great location on Vilano Beach with a very short trip over the bridge into downtown St Augustine. And my sincere thanks to the cleaning staff! They were always very friendly and helpful. This will be the first option I check anytime I return to the area.
