My husband and I just had the best weekend staying at Carriage Way. We had the room above the garage. It was absolutely PERFECT! It is set up like a little studio apartment. Very private and extremely comfortable. We would choose this B & B over a hotel anytime. I can't express how much we loved it.

It's a chef's choice breakfast everyday, and the chef has TASTE. Make sure to try the local coffee!

You're going to read this and say to yourself, "She must be exaggerating," but I truly can't express to you how much I am NOT. Within twenty minutes of booking our reservation, we received a call from Jess, who called to confirm our reservation and to talk through the hotel's amenities, policies, and parking. From this first interaction, we have NEVER felt more welcome and more appreciated at any hotel. The building has been fully renovated to an incredible extent while remaining true to its 19th century roots - there are photo albums on the table in the dining room detailing in the process and it's beautiful to see. For those of you wondering "Can a renovated hotel have enough outlets for me? Can the air conditioning possibly work?" I assure you, BOTH are true. I have never woken up cold in Florida and frankly, I was delighted to have the opportunity. The rooms are so comfortable and so well-appointed, we almost didn't want to leave, but that would be a shame considering the inn's absolutely perfect location on Cordova Street! Just about every historic site you can think of in the city is within a fifteen minute walking distance, and if you need any help finding it or looking for a recommendation, the entire staff is widely knowledgeable and ready to help you figure out a plan. Marcia, the Innkeeper, gave us a full walking tour of the building upon arrival to make sure we were familiar with all the amenities and answer any questions we had, and it felt like walking around with an old friend right away. She pointed out the drink fridge (available and fully-stocked twenty four seven with complementary sodas, water, and wine,) the baked goods (I was literally traveling with my mom and if it's on her baking level??? significant,) the aromatherapy towels (which she hand-makes and may just save your life after a hot day walking the city,) and the in-room sherry for a nightcap. Even the bathrooms in this hotel are beautiful, which if you've ever stayed in a historic building, you may have some reservations about. The sheer number and quality of linens in the room is truly incredible, and so so clean. And the breakfast part of this B&B? Y'all, I want these people to cater my wedding. We had a peach cobbler bake the second morning that was basically the fruity french toast of my dreams, and if we didn't want what was on the menu, we could request something else and it would be just as spectacular as the chef's choice. Listen to Marcia when she tells you about the local coffee - no exaggeration, it's head and shoulders above Starbucks. Within an hour of arriving, I messaged several of my loved ones saying we had to book here and stay again, and I'm so excited to do so. I can't recommend this hotel, its service, its accommodations, its food, its everything enough. Yes, there are about a thousand private B&Bs in St. Augustine, and yes, you may have rewards at any of the many beautiful chain hotels also in the area, but only this one can truly make you feel this at home, this pampered, and this relaxed. Thank you, Centennial House team, for making my mother & I feel so welcomed - we can't wait to see you again!

Just came here for the first time for a couple nights -- found it a mixed experience. Pros: Generally, a very well-located, clean place with spacious rooms and comfy bed. (We stayed in the Safari room) We arrived after business hours and whoever was on duty stayed on the phone w us to be sure we found key and entered without problem. Cons: For a $300/night place ranked as among the top B&Bs in town, we expected the room to feel a bit better taken care of. Our jacuzzi tub had a faucet that leaked nonstop, and a call/message put in to the main number about it was never answered. In bathroom, shower spray holder was cracked and spray itself was rusted/moldy. Also found two random hairs (not ours) stuck to the wall. Overall a perfectly fine place but having stayed at many B&Bs expected higher quality for the price.

This place is the best B&B we have ever stayed at because of the staff! The room is clean and the bed is firm and cozy. The location is perfect in order to walk to everything on St. George's street. Jess and Melanie are just fantastic hosts. Taking the time to make us feel like family just brings service to a whole new level for us. We have been to many places, but this is now top of our list for St. Augustine.

A delicious breakfast - A breakfast plate features watermelon slices, a piece of cake with blueberries and whipped cream, and a baked dish, on a decorative white plate.

Far exceeded expectations! We have traveled to St. Augustine a few times and this was the best experience we had!! We arrived very late from our travels and Roseanne was lovely and very accommodating in helping us get into the property and our rooms. The parking is located on site and it is a very secure property. The home is so beautifully maintained. Our room was clean and the sheets were so comfortable. We loved the dual shower in the bathroom and the robes were such a nice touch. We had wonderful sleep! In the morning, we were served the loveliest breakfast and enjoyed conversation with the other guests. I highly recommend the Centennial House with Roseanne and her team. We will definitely be staying here every time we visit St. Augustine from now on!

No need to look any further. You will feel pampered and like you have new friends while staying at the Carriage Way Centennial. Jesse greeted us with so much happiness, and helpfulness. She immediately grabbed our suitcases and walked them up the stairs to our wonderful Safari room. Check-in was a breeze. You won't need a thing while you stay here.....they have it all. Lots of cookies are always available in the dining room. The next day Jesse's mom, Marcia, was working and she immediately took us under her wing and it felt like we just made a new friend. Breakfast is delicious and plentiful. They make sure they are aware of any dietary needs you might have. It's definitely customer first here. The Inn is only a short block or two away from the historic downtown where all the shops, restaurants etc are. You won't need your car unless you decided to go to the island. I recommend one meal at least at Caps on the Water.....what a beautiful setting and great food.

We came over for a last minute trip. We have frequented St Augustine for the last 20 years (this is my 3rd trip in the last 3 weeks) and stayed 2 nights here this time. Due to it being a holiday weekend and last minute reservations, I had to get two different rooms. One for each night. I said "perfect ! I've never stayed with you before, so this will allow me to experience more than one room in a single weekend and get a good feel for your location !" I was so excited. Let me just say the staff was wonderful, someone met us when we arrived to explain our parking (which can be mildly inconvenient but not terrible). They kindly moved our luggage to the new room while we were out m, since our room had to be switched after the first night. They texted us when our new room was ready (we were out enjoying the town). They met every need, were very kind and courteous. They had warm cookies, and coffee downstairs. Free wine, water, soda, cookies, and coffee at any time of day. The location is AMAZING. If you know anything about St Augustine, you are SHORT walk to St George Street (that part is REALLY appealing for another stay in the future). These parts of our stay were beautiful and perfect. This would have been a 5 star review if I had based it solely on that aspect- the staff and location. Now on to the rooms - If you stay at this place do NOT book the "courtyard room-moonstone" downstairs ! At first glance, it's a cozy little room "off to itself" - and once I checked my bill, I realized, it's actually more expensive than the other rooms. However, the "curb appeal" is where it all ended for me. When anyone walked upstairs it was SO loud. You can hear all of the talking and walking upstairs. Someone above us was yelling back and forth, and stomping around - they actually seemed drunk and disorderly. I actually wondered if there wasn't a physical altercation, at one point, upstairs because it was so loud and they wouldn't stop cursing at one another and going back and forth. It was awful. Not to mention disrespectful. The guests above us were awful and that is no fault of the staff, but you should know it's possible to be woken up every time someone steps on the stairs. Which happened to be around 3am for the obnoxious guests we had above us. Also, neither of us slept well in this room even without the terrible guests upstairs. The bed was overly soft, seemed "small" (weird for a queen) but my husband kept rolling toward the edge and I ended up on the small wicker couch by 4am since I was wide awake. So, that made me less than thrilled about my expensive room. By the morning, I was thinking this room should come at a steep DISCOUNT. Now on to the second room - what a WONDERFUL change - we had the "Victorian room- Jade". This room is located in the main house. It's upstairs and feels "tucked away" which I like. The home is old. That's part of the charm. But it also means there is very little in the way of sound barriers from outside. The bed was SO comfy, the jet tub was REALLY nice too after a long day and just wanting to relax. This B&B sits on the corner of two streets, Cordova and Saragossa, with the Jade room facing the street- so if there are loud motorists (motorcyclists) or people blaring music, you're going to hear it... and unfortunately people aren't thoughtful enough to be mindful of that when driving. Again, no fault of the staff. They would've easily gotten a 5 star review. Over all, our experience was a decent one. I loved the lavender bags downstairs for under my pillow at night. That was a lovely touch. I definitely recommend staying in the main house. Try the Jade room. It was a lovely experience. The second room (Jade) didn't have a Keurig in suite but there is easy access to coffee, wine, soda, water and whatever else downstairs at all hours. So no loss there. Over all, it was a nice experience. Worth the try.

Front entrance - A two-story building with gray siding, white trim, and a porch with stairs, situated on a sidewalk with landscaping and palm trees.

What an AMAZING stay! We stayed for two nights for a "just because" fun w-end. We will definitely stay at the Centennial house again. The bed was so comfortable & the home was so beautiful. The breakfast was delicious! We didn't want to leave.

A living room features a sofa, several chairs, a coffee table with magazines, and large windows with curtains, illuminated by natural light.

I honestly don't know where these great reviews r coming from. This place needs work. The pictures on the internet r nothing like it appears in person. There were odd glass tables in the living room along with a full size fridge. Our room downstairs (yellow) was not very clean. The robes were child sized, there were 2 old (not antique) beat up nightstands, no lamps or curtains, towel bar in bathroom was broken off and grout slopped on the walls. Baseboards very dirty. The TV was so small we couldn't read the guide while in bed. Parking was on site, hostess Roseanne was super nice, great breakfast was served and location was great but would not stay here again. A deep cleaning and a good decorator could turn this place around.

Via Yelp, we stumbled on this Gem of a Bed & Breakfast in St Augustine's beautiful Historic District. It is located on Cordova -- The Centennial House. It is absolutely close to everything and everything you could enjoy is a short walk. A side note: if you are looking for an original city that has preserved its past, St Augustine has a rich, continuous history that has been detailed to perfection over 470 years. In my opinion, Bed & Breakfasts are the way to go in this town. I've read the reviews that go back over the years. The exterior is simply beautiful as well as the Interior. Everything appeared to have received recent attention. The rooms are thoroughly and tastefully appointed. Modern amenities abound in the rooms and their baths. Upstairs and down there are common areas. We awoke to fresh coffee and cups, spoons and cream. A refrigerator is here for your needs as well. We were fortunate enough to find parking available directly behind the building. Sadly we missed breakfast, which appears a grave mistake on our part from what I've read. And as well we saw the dining area and Florida room set up most inviting. Considering the attention to detail, I expect it would be fabulous. I've written a number of reviews and feel I can assure the most discerning people they will truly enjoy their stay.

We have been staying at a St. Augustine B&B once or twice a year for 10+ years now. I realize that things important to us may not be important to someone else, so I tried to break things down to help out. Location Its in the heart of the old city. You are a short walk from everything. This is a prime location. Parking They have onsite parking that accommodates most guests. For days of high occupancy there is overflow parking about 100 yards north on Cordova Street. I personally like onsite parking when I have to make several trips to the car and especially when it is raining out. Exterior The building exterior needs some TLC. They are just a couple weeks away from an exterior refresh to make her look all pretty again. Interior Common Area It is beautiful! Lots of design details to keep your eyes busy and delighted. There is a very large first floor common area with a sitting area and the primary dining area. There is a also an enclosed front porch - which is where we enjoyed our breakfasts. They are currently updating some of the artwork. There are photo albums showing some of the history of what has been done to the building too. Upstairs there is a large common area with a refrigerator that contains complimentary water and soda. Bed & Bath We stayed in the Carriage View room. It is a large second floor bedroom facing Cordova St. that has a large bathroom too (some of the biggest B&B rooms we have come across is St. Augustine). There are large windows that offer great views of Cordova Street and the horse drawn carriages that go by. The bathroom has a large walk in shower with two shower heads, no bath tub. There is a ceiling fan and flat screen TV. You have your own in-room thermostat to control your room temperature - nice! My only complaint with our entire stay was the tired old king mattress on the bed. It is in desperate need of replacement. Instead of waking up refreshed we woke up with sore backs. Its a BED & Breakfast - its the first thing! Breakfast Breakfast is served at 9am. They will accommodate your dietary restrictions and go over this at check-in. The breakfasts were tasty and large portions - you won't go away hungry. We had egg stuffed waffles the first day and scrambled eggs with sausage the second day. I am not typically a breakfast person but I enjoyed the meal both days. Innkeepers Friendly and accommodating. They will also help you with suggestions on the area if you have never been in St. Augustine before. They made us fell welcome and never made us feel like we were bothering them. Overall We found this inn to be an outstanding value for the money. Fix the mattress and it would be 5+ stars. I included some photos too.

Beautiful, delicious, homemade breakfast. - A dessert plate featuring a crepe with berry toppings and syrup, a muffin, and a small bowl of fruit and oats, with a glass of orange juice nearby.

After much thought, I would give Carriage Way Inn four stars. Carriage Way Inn does some things…read moreextremely well, some well, and some okay. I did learn this business was recently purchased by a company that owns numerous B&B's up the eastern states; hopefully that won't detract in the future. Upon arrival, a huge benefit is a dedicated parking area around back. Unless you drive a very large truck or largest SUV (e.g. a Suburban or F250) you'll have a spot. You should park and leave your vehicle. Saint Augustine is very walkable and Uber/Lyft are readily available, if necessary. Make no mistake; parking is premium in this town so a dedicated parking lot is a big plus. We arrived a little early but were greeted very warmly. Like most old B&B's, there is no elevator or lift (which we were aware of and is no problem for us). We were shown our room (Tourmaline) on the second floor and all typical questions were answered. The room, bed and bathroom were very comfortable. Great adjustable AC (a must in Florida), small flat screen tv (which we never turned on and neither should you), bathroom with very good shower and pleasant toiletries, comfy bed and good blinds to pull down for sleeping. A big negative to the room is the soundproofing. This room (Tourmaline) is right on the front of the house and it was the last weekend of a motorcycle gathering in not too far off Daytona. So we heard mid life crisis motorcycle riders and nearing elderlies on their horridly loud motorcycles off and on all weekend; both out and about and driving by the B&B. Not much the B&B can do except more soundproofing of the windows. It wasn't just the motorcycles, noise from loud car radios occasionally, too. The noise didn't ruin the weekend but did detract. I brought a white noise machine to help with sleeping and recommend it. The location of the B&B is phenomenal; centrally located and you can walk almost everywhere in downtown Saint Augustine. Importantly, we felt totally safe the entire time we visited. Saint Augustine is a very safe city; especially the tourist, populated and Flagler College areas. The B&B generously offers plenty of beverages downstairs to help yourself to. Water and cans of soda are available at all times. Wine, red and white, is set out to serve yourself in the late afternoon through mid evening. I believe I recall beer and hard seltzer, too. The snacks put out at happy hour were meh; just okay. But there were some deliciously scented fresh baked cookies in the afternoon. However, I've had much, much better snacks and happy hours at B&B's in Savannah, north Georgia and Charleston. The first floor sitting area is comfortable; plenty of small tables for sitting for snacks and breakfast; we never felt cramped. Minor glitch; the downstairs ice machine adjacent to the soda and water was broken most of the weekend. The Staff was apologetic and ice was set out and or provided by the downstairs Staff; but this was a minor annoyance. Of note, the rooms do not have little refrigerators. A nice addition might be an ice machine on the second floor (especially since that's where most of the rooms are located. Okay, now let's talk about the breakfast...We only ate it one morning, of two, because it was straight up lousy. Please know I am in no way a picky eater. The entree eggs were not good and I suspect they were most definitely not fresh cracked but powdered, frozen or premade. The plated side ham was barely eatable; it was extremely tough and salty. A B&B breakfast should be very good, if not memorable. This breakfast was shockingly subpar. Well, the coffee I made in the Keurig was fine and the server lady was pretty nice... In sum, I'm not sure I would stay at Carriage Way Inn again. Our stay was not bad but there are so, so many B&B's in Saint Augustine. Perhaps if Carriage Way radically upgrades the quality of the breakfast offering and sound proofs the rooms we'd return.
