A very unfortunate experience for many reasons. The location is awesome and the young staff was very kind and eager. My room's AC was faulty and Florida in April without AC is unbearable. I couldn't sleep and called the staff member whose cell number was provided for after hours issues and he was extremely rude. I was blown away. He literally loudly sighed over the phone when I said my AC didn't work and eventually begrudgingly came to move me to another room. I haven't been to St. Augustine since I was around 11 so I was unsure what to expect and had zero idea of where to stay. After having just stayed in a high end resort, we were looking for something a little more "homey". This place ticked all of our boxes: big room, breakfast including, and right in the middle of all the action. We opted for the loft style room. Living room and kitchenette downstairs, bathroom and bedroom upstairs. A little outdated overall, but I think it added to the charm. We stayed in the building adjacent to the main building/lobby. Except from some street noise (Christmas is a very busy time of year here), I had no complaints. However, I wish our room had a microwave. Food portions in Florida are huge and I hate to waste. I love that this is a family owned/run business. The staff were incredibly hospitable. Parking is offset but cheap. Loads of restaurants and shops right outside your door. read more

This inn is a real gem and the location is perfect in the heart of the historic district! Everything about our stay was spectacular... the inn is beautiful, clean and extremely well staffed! The entire staff was friendly, welcoming and helpful! The Bin39 wine bar is also beautiful and the courtyard very peaceful with live music every night till about 7-8pm Breakfast was delicious and included warm sandwiches, choices of yogurts fruits and more! Lovely stay!! I can't say enough good things about the St George Inn! First of all, the location is perfect. Right on at George street you are in the middle of the action. It's lively during the day and peaceful at night. The inn is at the end of St George street and within walking distance are tons of shops, bars and dining. You can also walk to the fort, St Augustine distillery, Aviles st, etc! We didn't use the car but once to go across the bridge. Staff was so friendly and accommodating! They were great! Breakfast in the morning was complimentary and delicious. Had a croissant panini and the fruit bowl was so fresh. Little coffee shop in the courtyard was so convenient, we got coffee there after. The hotel also has a little wine bar there too you can have a glass and sit out in the courtyard. Hotel guests get 10% off. In the courtyard there's also a candy store, cigar bar, mini donuts, coffee shop and some retails stores. It's so peaceful out in the courtyard, there is a nice fountain and plenty of seating. The room was so nice! It was clean fresh and cozy. It was on the 3rd floor and we had an amazing view to the Fort and the courtyard.No elevator in the hotel so be aware of that.We had Santiago king, which was very spacious. No balcony, be the windows opened and it was perfect weather to open them. The only downside though is since the inn is historic and directly in St. George street, they did not have any parking. So, you get a key pass to get in and out of the city parking garage which is about 1 block away. Not a huge deal, just a little inconvenient. Some just small notes of improvement, I did notice a lot of cobwebs in the corners of the corridors near the room and in the room the fire sprinklers were piled with dust. The Staff makes this Inn one thousand percent worth the stay alone! If you were thinking about booking here; do it! I loved that my second floor king size bed room had the best view of the Fort you could ever imagine! I walked down to the lobby area each morning to order a fresh, hot breakfast off the Inn's menu. Eat it in the lovely courtyard outside by the water fountain, or take it back up to your room to eat on your covered porch patio. My room and bathroom was impeccably clean. I asked if I could check out one hour after the normal check out time - totally okay! The wine bar that is attached to this Inn has amazing charcuterie boards, and a plethora of wines to choose from. Make sure to take a souvenir bottle with you before checking out. As far as parking goes, the Inn gives you a free parking pass to use for your car, in the covered garage nearby. It is downtown St Augustine so parking can be hard to come by - but I loved that my car was safe and sound in the parking garage close to the Inn. It's a nice comfortable room with a king size bed. It has a balcony with a view of the water, the fort, a graveyard and lots of people walking. No not in the graveyard. ;) The ac works great and has a ceiling fan. The guy who checked us in, was very kind. He walked us to the room and offered to take our bags. We walked around town after checking in and had a snack. We are also going to walk to have breakfast. They do have a restaurant here at the Inn. While staying here you park in the parking garage with a discount. Better than driving and never finding a spot. I've always like this town. You'll hear music, not all night, but hey, they can sing and are good with the guitar. Because the room is on a corner you do hear cars. I fell asleep and had a good nights sleep. We loved our stay at St. George Inn. We had a balcony room overlooking Castillo de San Marcos and the protestant cemetery. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the staff was super helpful and super nice. I appreciated the gluten-free options at breakfast. The wine bar was also great. Have always loved going to St. Augustine for a day trip but this trip included a night stay at the St. George Inn. Loved it! Only one issue and that is three flights of stairs to get to our room. My wife and I are 75 and thought we would be just fine. Wrong. Certainly not the fault of St. George Inn. If you you are not capable of three flights of stairs ask to stay in room with elevator or stay on second floor. The room was very enjoyable and relaxing. The staff was incredible. A special thank you to Katie! We will definitely return but get a room with an elevator. Ok, this may be the best dining experience I have had, ever. A 5 plus expereince! We recently completed a 24 day 3456 mile road trip that took us to Florida, both coats and the Keys. Quite the adventure and bucket list items to check out, with many may fine eating experiences along the way. Our last stop was I St. Augustine and through a recommendation from the hotel hist, we tried St. George, getting a last minute reservation. From the moment we arrived the hist warmly greeted us, we were brought up to a nice dining room and met a very engaging server. What a nice engaging crew, every person who came to our table, a smile, a hello and while they were very busy, never did act rushed at the table. I will.come back to the dining room and service in a moment. When I order I like to order items I know, and live, and use this to gauge a new place. One of those items is the onion soup. And this was just, wow. Deep rich flavorful broth, onion cooked and simmered to softness and the right color, just enough but not to much bread and cheese. Let's just call it perfect. Our meal was great and then dessert. We love PeachMelba and they had a variation of this as a "cake" or tart, and it was simply wonderfully, light, tasty and just sweet enough. We enjoyed the meal, service and seeing they had outside dining on a deck overlooking the area, we made reservations for the next night! They did not disappoint! Again we had a wonderful meal. The highlight was a simply prepared fish, and no issues asking for the sauce on the side, and unlike some places that claim they celebrate local fresh fish, they get miffed if you ask for sauce on the side, this Coda was so delicious it needed nothing, over a beautiful swirls of sweet potato and parsnip puree! That said the citrus sauce was tasty! And to my delight the onion soup and Peach Melba was as good as the night before. And the service! We had another wonderful server, in fact we noticed every server was taking time to meet, greet and engage their guests. Just amazing. Our server from the night before was the back waiter and he saw us, and came over to say hello. We will be back to Florida and we usually visit the west coast, but need to find a way to get here! read more

A friend and I went to St. Augustine to get away for a couple of days. We decided on the St. George Inn and we were very happy. Check in was easy and everyone we had contact with was very nice. They helped us wi to our bags while showing us to the other building. The young man who helped us to our room also provided us with information about the hotel and room we would need to know. Room was clean and spacious. There was a mini fridge to put your own things in and a small coffee maker with Starbucks coffee supplied. We had great views of St. George Street and part of the fort as well. Being right in the middle of the historical action was great. Easy to get to everything we wanted to do. It was also handy to get inside for a few minutes and drop off our new treasures, use restroom, cool off, and get right back to the action. Beds were very comfortable. There were two bars visible from our room window, but the noise at night did not seem to be too much and certainly didn't keep us from getting to sleep. Breakfast was complimentary for hotel guests. You sit at a table of your choosing and they serve you. The offerings included a panini, fruits, yogurt, bagel, and granola bars (May have been a couple more options but this was close to it). They charge $10 for non hotel guests and I would not have paid $10 for it, but it was great way to get going with it being complimentary. I had the English muffin ham, cheese, and tomato panini (which was tasty) and a bowl of fresh fruit. Check out was also very easy and we would certainly stay again if we went back together or if either of us went with our families. They offered to assist us with our bags when checking out, but we had already taken them to the car in the garage so we could do tie our exploration of the area after check out. Some things to be aware of and consider: Parking is in the visitor center parking garage. There is a loading unloading space at the entrance to the Inn which helps with not having to lug luggage across the street and down the sidewalk, then over to the visitor center parking garage. Visitor center parking is $15/day. As a guest, they give you a parking pass. I had thought parking was included, but it isn't. The hotel charges $12/day on your incidentals. Be mindful if your leave the parking garage you need to use your electronic parking pass when leaving even if the bar is up. If you don't and try to badge back in when you return, it will not allow entry (it thinks you gave it to someone else because it doesn't know you left). This Inn is split into 3 buildings. One building has an elevator. The other two are only stairs. We were on the 3rd and top floor of our building. Should you need to have an elevator for any reason you need to let them know when booking so they can book your room in the appropriate building. The front office is open until 8pm. If you have an issue after 8pm, the number for the Inn keeper is provided in the room binder. We had no need to contact them with any issues so we can't speak to how they handle issues. We stayed in St. Augustine for two nights and we were so happy with our stay at St. George Inn! From the beginning we could tell the service was high quality. We received a call the day we were heading up making sure everything was set and upon arrival we were welcomed and helped with luggage. Our room was clean and ready. The hotel is in the perfect location for sightseeing without being disruptive at night. We were able to use the hotel as a central location during the day, stopping by for what we needed. First the good news. A fine young man by the name of Dylan greeted us and checked us into the "Master Suite" aka, room 63, directly above City Gate Distillery. He was very personable and professional. Room 63 is a "master suite", meaning it has a king size bed and a separate sitting area with a small round table and 2 chairs. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. Now the bad news. One of the exit doors from City Gate Distillery is directly below the bed. On windy days (which is often, the entire 3 days we were there) the exit door slams so hard it literally shakes the room. This happened more times than I could count. A $50 door closer from Home Depot would solve this problem. But it gets worse. Within a stones throw of our balcony and bedroom is the Mill Top Tavern which plays live amplified music until 12:00 midnight every single night including Sunday night. With a speaker directly pointed in the direction of our building, forget about a peaceful night's rest prior to midnight. Finally, the TV is not viewable from the bed which is silly. Also, they do not have smart TV's so it's not possible to stream any shows or movies on Netflix or Amazon. Instead they offer Direct TV, which frankly did not have a single national network (NBC, CBS, CNN, etc) but it does have hundreds of channels selling crap. And to add insult to injury when I booked my room I made clear my concerns about noise having had too many previous bad experiences in both hotels and short term rentals. So the man who took my reservation directed me to this room and assured me it was better than the rooms facing Castillo Drive. After 3 nights of and days of slamming doors and live music until midnight, anything would have been better. Sadly, there were rooms in building's 1 and 6 overlooking St. George street that would have been much more desirable. But the "King Suite" rents for $400 per night ! The Mill Top Tavern is a local watering hole, so there is no way the hotel was not aware of the fact they play live music until midnight every night. And I would be shocked if I was the first person to bring up the issue of a slamming door right below your bed. Bottom line, I believe you should be able to find a place in the historic district of St. Augustine for $400 a night and get a good nights sleep at a normal time and take a cat nap during the day without being shook out of your bed by a slamming door. AVOID ROOM 63! read more

There are a lot of different parts of this Inn and review. first, EVERY person came in contact with was exceptional!! Julia, Katie, Nicole, Dillon, and a couple others were outstanding, and made the stay as good as it was. the wine bar Bin 39 is a jewel. Incredible selection of wines, especially by the glass, at all price points. A couple of nights, got takeout and sat outside with some of their wines. the rooms are "quaint". Clean and simple. No luxury. Bathrooms are not "spa like". think your stay can depend on where your room is. The Inn is a series of buildings where the rooms are on the 2nd and sometimes 3rd floors, over the common area of the Inn or surrounding stores. Some of the rooms face the Bay but also face the main avenue traffic. A few of the rooms are directly over the local cigar bar where people smoke from morning opening til close. The pedestrian only street can be very noisy, especially on weekends, with people, street musicians, etc. think Mardi Gras on a much lower scale. Not saying any of this is bad - just be aware before you book. wifi is 1990's ish - kept waiting to see the spooning hourglass..... would I stay again? Maybe because of the people and the wine bar. I can't believe I did not do a review on this place yet! I stayed here for three days/two nights. Our(my husband and I)room was on facing the Fort. We were upstairs. We shared a porch with our neighbors. It was nice from the helpful, kind staff in the office-until the time to leave. I loved the spiral staircase going up to our room/bathroom. We enjoyed the continental breakfast also. I have absolutely no complaint at all. But, I would like to warn anyone reading this review:this might not be the place for you, if you cannot climb stairs. The Cons: 1.) We booked St. George Inn for our one year anniversary online at Booking.com. We were anticipating to pay a good amount for the location and the quality of the room, but we didn't know how many taxes would be added. We just wish Booking.com had added that in the information. 2.) The pictures didn't exactly match our room (which isn't the end of the world) but one of the worst parts of the room was how much it echoed and how we could hear the people in the other room near us. 3.) We noticed the AC stopped blowing out cold air and maintenance was able to look at it and make it work thankfully!! 4.) The balcony was a shared (anyone from the public could access it if they walked up the stairs). The doors that were located off the balcony could lock thankfully, but we still didn't like how the balcony was accessible to almost anyone... 5.) The location of our room specifically was right off the main road, so we could hear ambulances or sirens going by unfortunately. We also were so close to Downtown that we heard live music (it was really loud). 6.) Our room was located right in downtown, which was convenient, but there was a lot of homeless people and at night a lot of people drinking. We wanted to go back to our room right away. 7.) The parking garage was a two minute walk which doesn't sound very far, but with all your bags it becomes exhausting. Definitely wish there was closer parking. 8.) Our room didn't face the Castillo de San Marcos (the national fort), which wasn't described in the reservation, but we were assuming with the price of the room that we'd have a better view of it. The Pros: 1.) The staff was very kind and accommodating. They offered to change our room because our AC wasn't working the best, but once it started cooling down after they fixed it, we were fine staying. 2.) The location is right where we were hoping. There was a live band a couple doors down so you could sit on the balcony and kick back with some live music. Run do not walk and book the St. George Inn immediately! We had last minute guests come into town (my in laws) last weekend so we guilt-ed them into watching our children one night so we could finally stay downtown for a night. After searching all of the bed and breakfasts in town and a couple of the hotel/inns I decided the St. George was exactly what I was looking for. I was initially planning to book the new rooms as they are beautiful and brand new plus they had a special price on their website but I decided to take the cheap route and book the basic room the Pinta. I received a call around 1pm that our room was ready and we could check in. I was already downtown shopping but had a few more places to go so I arrived around 3pm. The room we received was Room 17. I will absolutely request this room again. Our front balcony and rocking chairs overlooked the courtyard and there was a small staircase next to our door (and another on the other side of the front balcony), our back balcony overlooked the old wooden schoolhouse courtyard. Now one thing I have to point out is the kiddos that visit during the day will ring that school bell over and over. I thought it was cute and enjoyed watching how they all got excited plus the place closes so early you really aren't bothered by it. We loved the bed (very comfortable) and the room as a whole. They have a new wine shop next to the registration and breakfast area and you can order a bucket of beer, wine and even wine tastings and they will bring everything to your room. Breakfast wasn't served until 8am (I'm an early riser) but we already had our minds set on hitting up maple street so we skipped breakfast but I did see the selection when checking out and it looked very nice for a continental breakfast. The location cannot be beat and neither can the price. After I received our final bill (which included a wine tasting and two buckets of beer) and compared that to the quotes I received from other B&B's for that same night I realized we ended up paying almost $100 less for what I considered a better place. Everyone and I mean everyone from check in to check out that works here were just wonderful and sincerely kind. We will absolutely be back next time we have guests who can watch the kids for us. This is an Inn and not your typical hotel. We knew this going in and wanted the experience of being in the midst of all the shopping and dining area in St George Street. Positives - The service was really great and all the staff is welcoming and friendly. Julia was absolutely great and very helpful. She made sure we found the place and that we knew where to go and provided recommendations. She even helped us carry in our luggage. The parking is a bit difficult because it is across the street at the Visitor's Information Center parking lot but easy to get in and out of. The location of the Inn is great because it's across the Castillo San Marco Fort and so much is within walking distance. The room was spacious and comfortable. Due to Covid 19, housekeeping only comes in when you request and otherwise they leave fresh towels and toiletries at your door, which was nice. A limited menu for breakfast is available and served to order in dining area or you can take to your room. Our room was not facing the main areas so it was great that there was little to no noise coming from the outside. Negatives- The place is definitely more outdated than the pictures on its website. The only way to our room was by going up some stairs to that were located next to a Cigar shop so having to walk by the benches and tables of people smoking was annoying. In my opinion, the price paid for the room per night is too expensive considering the place. You are paying for location. It was especially disheartening to find that we had termites in our room. We found out on the second to last night there which put a damper on things. Overall we had a good stay. read more

I booked a stay at St. George Inn with my husband, our AussieDoodle and I through booking.com. The location was exceptional and the people working at the resort were delightful. They helped us with our luggage and so forth. BUT, we had an over $124 surprise pet fee after we left the resort. Nowhere on booking.com did they share there would be a pet fee or a limit on dog size. It read that the resort was pet friendly! The information about our pet was never shared in person, or at booking.com, even when we checked in and our pet went through the lobby with us to get to the room. We even brought a giant crate with us so he was safe when we were away and when he slept. He was never alone wandering around in the room. The pet fee was over $124. Great Place to stay. We stayed upstairs across from the fort, so we had a great view off of the deck .It was nice to sit on the deck and enjoy a glass of wine at night and look at the fort and the water. The rooms are very comfortable with lovely decor, a homey feeling. Also the staff is very helpful and accommodating.I wold definitly stay here again. read more

The Inn was great! Room direct across from the Fort was cool. Old town was a little disappointing because there were so many shops and restaurants closed at the beginning of the week. But that's no reflection on the Inn. The Inn and their staff are excellent! I would not hesitate to return. read more
