The Hampton Inn by Hilton is located directly on the beach with ocean view from many rooms. We were on the 4th floor with ocean view with a nicely landscaped walkway to the beach. We are just a 5-10 minute ride from the historic downtown in St Augustine/Nights of Lights. Our room is average with 2 Queen beds, TV, a view balcony, bathroom with tub/ shower, fridge, and a small closet A microwave would've been a big help. It is clean with old school furniture. It can use updating. The beds are comfortable which is important for my sleep time. The 2 pluses are the view and beach, and being so close to Nights of Lights. There is a large dining room downstairs with free hot breakfast items. The staff here are so nice, friendly, and helpful! We would stay here again. read more

Not the best of hotels nor the worst. "Mid" at best. Our beach view balcony room we booked was a parking lot view with a sliver of ocean in the distance. The bed was hard and the pillows uncomfortable. We watched an employee park in the Diamond Member parking spot and go into work with almost a completely open parking lot. There were only two towels in the bathroom. They do have breakfast which we did not partake in die to our schedule. The beach is a short walk. The pool area looked clean. read more

First time visiting st Augustine was in September 2023 the weekend after Labor Day and we stayed at the Hampton Inn on the beach. The back of the hotel faces the beach and the walkway is literally feet away. I liked that the beach was right there and how easily accessible it was. During our stay, we'd wake up early to walk on the beach and lay out on the sand just to listen to relaxing waves. They have continental breakfast daily downstairs in the dining area. I liked that they had toaster ovens and a pancake and waffle maker there with the batter already prepared for you. They also have your typical bacon, eggs, sausage, potatoes, toast, fruits, cereals and danishes to choose from. It's an older hotel so the nightly rates are mad cheap. The interior is outdated and the rooms smell like ocean water which was okay. After my shower I still smelled like the beach and not my dove soap. The gym here wasn't anything amazing.. just a couple treadmills and some dumbbells. Would I stay here again? Probably. I mean, the beach is right there and you can't beat the prices. Plus they have some restaurants nearby that you can walk to. And the staff here are really nice. read more

The hotel staff are clearly incompetent. I am pregnant and felt faint after coming back from the beach. There is no water easily available, even at the breakfast bar. My husband was told there's bottled water to buy, but in a very rude way by the manager. We bought a water but as we were leaving I went up just to suggest that they could have water at the breakfast. The same woman (I hadn't met her but it was definitely the one) rudely said "We have flavored water at the breakfast" and I said "I just wanted a glass of normal water". Then she rolled her eyes and told the other woman to get me a bottle of water. Turned down because I had already purchased one. This was after breakfast. We came down at 7:45 and already the staff told us they were almost out of sausage, syrup, no muffins. Oh and they ran out of milk, so no milk for cereal or creamer for coffee. The staff over there also seemed angry and disgruntled. For the price of the stay: not worth it. Clearly management needs to make some changes both in how they prepare the hotel for guests and also how the staff feels. Because it feels like everyone who works there is pretty angry and miserable. Our room (322) - the AC made a horrible noise all night, the beds were extremely hard and the door to the bathroom drug across the floor when opening/closing, so you get to wake up the entire room. I understand that beach hotels or hotels in general take quite a beating but as a 13 year Hilton executive and frequent traveler, I'm very disappointed in the hotel. Where do I start?! Amazing Ocean front location! Plenty of parking! On the March 1 evening we were greeted by the most professional front desk representative! Private beach access and VIEW is what we are here for! Huge breakfast area! We are in a beach front Family Suite! Balcony is Huge about 8 by 10 with two chairs and a foot stool, there are two outlets! City trolley tix are sold at the lobby but we had to rely on our independent vehicle due to a health reason! Next time I would like to stay longer! There are restaurants right across and next door! Cons: no digital key for some reason but I don't care! Plenty of room and hooks! And two TVs! Sofa is a full size sleeper and staff provided us with plenty of extras that we needed! Thank you! And in a shower there is only a shampoo and above the sink a lotion. read more

A nice ocean view room for us this trip. We used the Hilton Honors app for digital check in and room key. Be sure to get your parking pass if you do this, as they are required. Steps away from the sand on the east side and restaurants and bars on the west. A short 10-15 minute drive gets you to the heart of historic Saint Augustine. We have been in town more times than I can remember over the last 50 years but this is the first time here. We enjoyed our time and would stay again. read more

This hotel is absolutely terrible, the staff is so rude. I went this weekend and drove 5 hours just to get there and not be able to check in. I am 20 and the check in age is 21, which is understandable. They were so extremely rude about it telling me i needed "adult supervision" when I have been living on my own for the past 2 years. I had started to cry and some very kind ladies saw and offered to try to buy me another room or check me in with their ID, but the staff still refused me, didn't try to assist to find another hotel I could check into. They seemed so incompetent and had no idea how to handle the situation. After reading other reviews I understand that the staff is horrible and I would not recommend staying here. The ladies I met thankfully were able to book me a reservation at a different hotel so i didn't have to turn around and drive back home, but this experience is so awful. I have never had staff be so rude and talk down to me like I am 12 years old. Clearly they do not have proper hospitality training. read more

We recently stayed at the Hampton Inn for 3 nights while on vacation. We picked it because it's a Hilton property and it was on the beach. We were also a fan of the price at only about $225 a night. It was in a perfect location within walking distance of several restaurants, dessert spots and within 7 mins by car to downtown St Augustine. The bright spots on the hotel itself were plentiful. The hotel looked to be recently updated with newer decor and a clean look and feel. The bathroom was spotless. The hotel had a nice aroma to it whenever you walked into the hallways. Behind the hotel you had a small pool with a hot tub that we didn't end up using due to being so busy. And about 150 yards behind that was a little pathway to the sand. Just like that you are on the beach and ready to enjoy! On top of that if you walked about 100-150 yards up the beach you were at the pier and a little splash pad they had for the kids. Again, prime location. Another bright spot was the service. While they didn't tend to the rooms (due to covid) they made it easy to grab towels and sent two pack and plays up to my room. The first one was broken so they brought a second one right up without hesitation. Everybody i encountered throughout the hotel was very nice and always said hello. There are two small reasons (depending on how you look at it) as to why i didn't give it a 5 star. First, right outside our window was the roof of the hotel that they were clearly working on. Now i know they need to work on the roof but don't put us in the ONE room where the view is just damaged tile and exposed roof. I don't care if my view is the parking lot, but cmon now. The other reason, on the last day, i put my hand on the wall and my hand sunk in. It basically felt like water has gotten into the wall and made it soft. It didn't really impact my stay since it was the last morning but it still made me feel a little iffy about the room. I think i would still stay there in the future if we ever go back, but i would request a room with a better view and check the walls. read more

This was the view from our balcony and the beach was beautiful too, walking distance from the hotel. The pool and hot tub outside was lovely and our room felt very clean. When I set up the reservation I was told beach access was open but got here and it's not and when I called I talked to the actual hotel and not reservation dept. day time Hotel staff is great But the night staff on 3-14-2023 is a joke. They ran out of parking and they expected me to park on the street. I also asked where he was parked at and he referenced a legit parking space and said well can I park in your space he said sure when I leave work if no one takes it. The reason this is a two star review is due to an obvious pest issue at the coffee/ grab and go breakfast area no one wanted to acknowledge. There were no pest or signs of pest in our room but we were thoroughly turned off by the roaches observed in the food area. When I mentioned it to the staff the acted as if they were totally unaware. Other than that the location was great in walking distance of good restaurants and on the beach. Alright, time to go good, bad and ugly for Hampton #1 out of the three we just stayed at. GOOD: The location is great. Short walk out the back door to the beach which during the two days we were there was highly underutilized. Also great with the location is the fact that the hotel is not in St. Augustine proper, but a few miles away from the touristy area. There's a restaurant across the street and it's a short drive to a few necessities like a Publix, a small strip mall or for some mini-golf. Very quiet at night which is great! BAD: The parking situation like you see at a lot beach hotels is not ideal. There's a small pad with a few spaces on the backside of the building near the pool and the ocean but that plus the main lot out front really isn't enough to handle the car load when the place is busy. Lots of oversized SUV's and king/club/quad cab trucks taking up their space plus some of the next one. Each night there were cars lined up against this small wooden fence which is across a small street from the hotel and I saw at a car or two park in the lot which is supposed to only be for the restaurant across the street. I get it that space for these places is at a premium but it's really a PIA knowing that if you come back "late" (post 8pm) parking could be very tough. UGLY: Breakfast is also not ideal. The area is way too small when the place is busy with families. Every morning it was totally slammed before seven. The line for food was never ending and the staffing was not there at all to be able to even remotely keep up with restocking or cleaning. This is certainly a solid hotel if you're in the area and especially if you're looking for something on the beach. Just know that if busy, there might be some major inconveniences that you'll want to think about before booking here. read more

She asked was he a service dog; I told the clerk he is serviced for my anxiety, which obviously doesn't pass at this hotel. I was literally kicked out. I drive 5hrs to be dismissed. Let me start off by saying the Front Desk person Olivia was fantastic. She really made our stay. We were transferring from a city view King bedroom to a Beach side King bedroom and she made it seamless without us having to do anything. By the time we got back from boating tour our was already in the new room ready to go. The rooms are nice. When you are in a beach side room the views are great. Plus it's nice to leave the sliding door open at night to get that cool breeze. Breakfast lady was very good at keeping food and items restocked. But she may need a little help some days. Only so much one person can do. One thing I had to nitpick was there were no vending machines on any floors despite what 2nd shift at front desk told me. Might want to check that. With a family of five, it's sometimes hard to find rooms that work. This Hampton Inn offered a good sized suite with two queen beds and a pull-out couch. The free hot breakfast was actually quite good. It included the standard make your own waffles, cereal, pastries and coffee; augmented with fresh fruit, yogurt and all sorts of toastable bread items. We sprung for the ocean view and ended up spending a lot of time on the balcony. The view was breath-taking. The beach is maybe sixty feet from the back of the hotel, over a sand dune. Our visit was over the Christmas holiday, so it was too cold to swim. We enjoyed beach-combing, shells and sunshine. The big disapointment for us was that the outdoor pool was not heated. It felt like 40 degrees. We tried swimming unsuccessfully twice, once early in the day once later. We were hoping the sunshine would warm up the water. When you have children in hotels, pools are a great way to spend time. This item alone will probably prevent us from staing here again. Still overall a nice midrange property. read more

I found an old (how old?) piece of sausage on the floor. The bathroom looked dirty. Thankfully, these days, I always carry wipes and disinfectant spray when checking in - so I don't think I caught anything. But, I wouldn't say here again - I'd spring for the Embassy Suites a couple of buildings down. read more

We try to make it to Saint Augustine once a year and the Hampton Inn on A1A has been our choice for lodging for several years. The location is perfect. The hotel looks out over the beach and a private path goes from the hotel onto the beach. Several great restaurants and bars are within walking distance and the St Johns County Pier is only a block away. The room, while a little small for our family of 4, was clean and relatively updated and included a fridge and microwave. The room balcony looks out over the pool and the beach. The pool and hot tub are nice and they were cleaned every morning we were there. Hot breakfasts are served every morning. The amenities are nice and clean and the staff has always been friendly and courteous. I really have nothing bad to say about this hotel. read more

The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, our room was spacious, clean, and modern, and the continental breakfast in the morning was nice. One of the best parts about this hotel is that is basically located on the beach- having it's own bath to the beach, and also an outdoor pool. Unfortunately the weekend we visited it was quite chilly for Florida weather, so we didn't swim- however, we did take a stroll on the beach and it was beautiful. You definitely get what you pay for with this hotel. That being said, being right on the beach is amazing and that's probably the best part of this hotel. Most people looking for a beachfront hotel will really like the Hampton Inn because it offers a direct path to the water and a pool on the way. Something I didn't like about this hotel is the beach didn't have any hotel chairs or umbrellas. I stayed here in February and even though it was sunny and 75 it is still the "winter time" so maybe they just haven't gotten around to putting out the beach furniture. The towels they provide are CHILD SIZED!! Definitely bring your own beach towel if you are over 4 feet tall. The pool is on the small side but it will do the trick! Now, on to the rooms - basic beach hotel. Still will never understand putting carpet in beach hotels but whatever. Rooms are on the smaller side but having the balcony is wonderful. Definitely have to stay on the 3rd floor or higher to get the beach views because of the dunes. An Easter egg i found - unlike a lot of modern beach hotels these days, the air conditioning unit STAYS ON WHILE THE DOOR IS OPEN. I know that's horrible for the environment but it is such a great feeling. Overall, I think I would stay here again because of the pricing and location. But if you're looking for a little better amenities and have the budget to spend more I would maybe keep looking. read more

We stayed over Thanksgiving weekend as we visited my sister who lives locally. We opted for convenience and decided to stay at this Hampton Inn rather than downtown at the Hilton. What a mistake. We had no housekeeping attention on Thanksgiving. Their breakfast was not like typical Hampton Inn breakfasts: staff was indifferent and they didn't have oatmeal--though they had oatmeal toppings out. The breakfast they did put out was in insufficient quantities for the number of guests there for breakfast. I will say that it is a great location. Parking was easy. It was well secured. And, our room started out clean even though we didn't get any attention during our stay. We won't be back, however. While willing to express our disappointment to the hotel staff in hopes that they would seek to apologize, they never reached out to us after Hilton's customer service team indicated they would. When I followed up, I learned that the hotel staff "was sorry and added 2,000 points to my account. Really? I wasn't looking for points. I was looking for an apology. I have to 100% agree with Kelcey O. on her review. I've actually stayed here a few times over the past 15 years because it's so darn affordable and right on the beach. What more could you want? Works for me. Definitely splurge for/request an oceanfront room on (at least) the 3rd or 4th floor for great views. You have direct access to the water and a few nice casual restaurants and bars across the street or within the vicinity so you won't really need to move your car at all if you don't plan on leaving the beach. Another perk is you pretty much have a private beach in front of the hotel. And if you invite guests over, they are pretty lax about allowing them on the premises....or maybe I never got caught. Either way, this place is total value and worth the sand between your toes. read more

The room was filthy. I discovered it when I dropped water on the tile and wiped it up with a white towel that turned black after using it to clean up the water. The last day we stayed, I removed the bags from the sides of the bed so my service puppy wouldn't go in between the bed and the wall. As soon I did, he ran under there and came back out with a USED, NASTY CONDOM. My nine yo son had to see this and it was absolutely disgusting! They don't clean their rooms!!!!!! Disgusting place. Worse day ever, ruined my vacation with my family. Staff are unbelievably rude and unhelpful. Booked my reservation 3months in advance drove 3+ hrs to st. Augustine with children and an infant came to check in and was told that i dont have a reservation with them, had me waiting 2 hrs waiting on basically nothing since they arent doing anything to help my situation. Here's my rundown: GOOD: - Location is great. - Private beach is big and right out back. BAD: - It needs a full renovation. It is old. The hallways are dark. The carpet is worn. - The breakfast area is TINY. Read more below. - The parking lot is too small and gets completely full every night. Breakfast is a disaster. It's tiny. There are about six 4-top tables, maybe six 2-tops, and that's it. It was totally slammed every morning. The line for food was 15 people deep, and blocked the coffee. Trashcans were overflowing. Tables were filthy. It's just woefully inadequate for the number of rooms and guests at this property. So I'm disappointed. Hampton is usually very consistent, and I trust them. The manager TRAVIS DOTSON is the most unprofessional, rude and condescending manager and absolutely no help whatsoever in resolving our issue with our stay. The hotel is fine, we've stayed before and loved it. It's clean (there are some very minor things that need some attention but not worth a bad review) but the bed was horrible! It was thin and lumpy and hard and the fitted sheet and protector didn't fit well and came up on both sides and crumpled underneath as you tried to sleep. We tried to make it through but at 230am finally decided to pack up and drive an hour home. The front desk gentle man was extremely nice and said they have had that complaint before and suggested we call the manager the. Ext day however he warned us not to talk to the male manager because he "wasn't good". The day after we called and had to speak to the manager he warned us about but explained our issue and asked if it was possible to be partially comped or credited for a future stay when they had resolved the bed issue. His name is TRAVIS DOTSON- He LAUGHED at my husband and said "this is what you people do". Omg. "You people?" What is it that "us people" do? Ask for some type of compensation when we have to leave a hotel in the middle of the night and rice home because their beds (the most important thing in the whole dang room) is so uncomfortable you can't even sleep on it? I guess that was funny to him. He called my husband "buddy". I'm not sure what type of hospitality training this man has but I'd say none. There was some construction going on right next to our rooms balcony beach view but that's out of their control and died down at night so it wasn't an issue. The room otherwise was fine for the $250+price tag last minute and the rest of the staff was phenomenal. In the end he offered us Hilton points but became frustrated when we couldn't access our account fast enough and said we could email him our account number. Instead I called the customer service number for Hilton because I stay at Hampton across the US regularly and reported him. PLEASE save your money. Horrible customer service to match our horrible experience. Hilton is beyond disappointing. We had a shower clog and then the A/C hummed and kept us up all night. No rooms were available to switch into. A manager never called us after several attempts to reach one. I even contacted a main customer service line for Hilton and Hilton's customer service gave me the runaround and I am still trying to get a refund for this less than desirable hotel stay.
