Worse day ever, ruined my vacation with my family. Staff are unbelievably rude and unhelpful. Booked my reservation 3months in advance drove 3+ hrs to st. Augustine with children and an infant came to check in and was told that i dont have a reservation with them, had me waiting 2 hrs waiting on basically nothing since they arent doing anything to help my situation. Horrible customer service to match our horrible experience. Hilton is beyond disappointing. We had a shower clog and then the A/C hummed and kept us up all night. No rooms were available to switch into. A manager never called us after several attempts to reach one. I even contacted a main customer service line for Hilton and Hilton's customer service gave me the runaround and I am still trying to get a refund for this less than desirable hotel stay. We had been coming here for 15 years. They used to have a Hot Tub room with a large tub and you can look out to the ocean. NOW, they renovated and have a Bath Tub with Jacuzzi jets which they charge a premium for. Paid $ 600 plus for two nights with a partial view of the ocean since the dunes are very high now. I was on the 3rd floor. Anything lower, and you are just looking at Dunes. The Staff is great, the Service is great...but this place is now OVERPRICED! You are better off staying across the street at another property or pay close to the same for a much Nicer Embassy Suites. read more

Plus your incentive to frequent Hilton properties when you travel. Game on. So here we are...best girlfriends weekend, St Augustine Florida and we found a Hampton Inn on A1A on the beach for a very reasonable cost. $179 a night. Bit much for a Hampton but it's on the beach. You walk out and you are on the beach. The staff is AWESOME. Front desk, housekeeping. Just amazing. You get the same consistent service anytime of the hour or day. When you pull up the property is very Florida. By that I mean screaming pink building. Plus, the property is older. It's not NEW so you have to manage your expectations a bit compared to other Hampton Inn properties. We had our own balcony. Our own micro, fridge. The shower pressure was awesome. The pool was perfect. There is a whirl pool as well. The fitness center looked very small but again, who wants to go there when you roll outside of your bed and you're at the beach? And I LOVE to workout! :) Would totally go back in an instant. One of the best hotel experiences ever. read more

The manager TRAVIS DOTSON is the most unprofessional, rude and condescending manager and absolutely no help whatsoever in resolving our issue with our stay. The hotel is fine, we've stayed before and loved it. It's clean (there are some very minor things that need some attention but not worth a bad review) but the bed was horrible! It was thin and lumpy and hard and the fitted sheet and protector didn't fit well and came up on both sides and crumpled underneath as you tried to sleep. We tried to make it through but at 230am finally decided to pack up and drive an hour home. The front desk gentle man was extremely nice and said they have had that complaint before and suggested we call the manager the. Ext day however he warned us not to talk to the male manager because he "wasn't good". The day after we called and had to speak to the manager he warned us about but explained our issue and asked if it was possible to be partially comped or credited for a future stay when they had resolved the bed issue. His name is TRAVIS DOTSON- He LAUGHED at my husband and said "this is what you people do". Omg. "You people?" What is it that "us people" do? Ask for some type of compensation when we have to leave a hotel in the middle of the night and rice home because their beds (the most important thing in the whole dang room) is so uncomfortable you can't even sleep on it? I guess that was funny to him. He called my husband "buddy". I'm not sure what type of hospitality training this man has but I'd say none. There was some construction going on right next to our rooms balcony beach view but that's out of their control and died down at night so it wasn't an issue. The room otherwise was fine for the $250+price tag last minute and the rest of the staff was phenomenal. In the end he offered us Hilton points but became frustrated when we couldn't access our account fast enough and said we could email him our account number. Instead I called the customer service number for Hilton because I stay at Hampton across the US regularly and reported him. PLEASE save your money. Hotel is Okay for this price range. Staff worked hard to keep areas clean during the time of coronavirus. Room was typical. Clean. Short stroll to beach. Previous reviews stated that a hill had to be climbed to reach the beach and I was concerned. But it is a little hill and is not a sharp incline. Beach is a few minutes walk. Life guards on duty. Pool area was nice. We enjoyed it. Breakfast is served daily but it is not always a hot breakfast. Very Limited selection. Cereal one day, biscuits and gravy another, waffles on the third day. Fruit, milk, juice and coffee are available daily. Served cafeteria style. A person serves your food and drink and you go elsewhere else to eat. HINT There are 2 trays in your room to use for carrying the breakfast. One is under the coffee pot, the other under the ice bucket.... Take one with you, otherwise you have to go back up to your room to get a tray as none are available in the breakfast room. -The diner across the street from the hotel has an awesome breakfast. Also serves lunch. -Antonio pizza delivers for $1 extra. Great pizza and salads. 1/2 block from hotel. -The seafood place across the street has outdoor seating, was reasonably priced and we enjoyed eating there as well. . read more

Pros: balcony with ocean view, pool, hot tub, very short walk to the beach. Family room with 2 beds and sofa. Convenient parking lot on back close to pool and beach. Two ladies from staff (receptionist and lady tending the food) went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. Cons: rude guy who did not appear to speak English on our second morning tending the food. It was 9:40 and there was no food. I asked why he literally just said "no food, just cereal." I was not acknowledged as a Hilton Honors member- but no biggie. The buttons to call for elevator did not work properly. It took hitting both up and down buttons several times to summon the elevator. The pool does not have a card reader so anyone can enter. We had just come up from the beach and could not use the hot tub because some teenager who clearly were not guests parked and beat us to it. Chose this hotel due to location and price. We reserved a 2-night stay for a long weekend getaway. Our room was great with a great view of the Atlantic. Our last night there my husband was awakened by some noise in the hallway upon inspection he found a note by our door from management stating that they had "detected a strong smoke odor coming from somewhere on this floor." They were reminding us if they found that we were smoking in our room they would be accessing a $250 smoking fee on our bill. Since we don't smoke when we checked out the next morning, we requested that they inspect our room immediately and sign off that we indeed weren't who they were looking for. Janelle told us that housekeeping wasn't in and reminded us that we had signed upon arrival a release that gave them the right to charge us if they deemed it necessary. WOW Hilton way to go GREAT customer service keep threatening your guests and maybe they won't return I know we certainly won't return here, and we do visit this area frequently. Also, the TV only receives 8 channels even though the guide says approx. 24 and the smoke detector was off the wall and in the closet read more

This hotel is not up to Hampton standards - or what used to be Hampton standards. I will say that the desk clerk at check-in was good, although he didn't offer me the usual Hilton Honors treats; I had to ask for water. Other than that, he was helpful, but the good vibes largely ended there. I'd asked for a top-floor room but got the second floor; that happens but it was terribly noisy. Worse, it was dirty which shouldn't happen. The socks I was wearing in the room were quickly soiled; clearly the carpet had not been cleaned in some time. Surfaces were dusty. I was never sure whether housekeeping had visited; occasionally they refilled some amenities but never all. Other clerks were blunt and borderline rude. Most irritating was that they say that their beach access was damaged in the last hurricane, and send folks to the next block - but their own access is far easier to navigate! So they've not even bothered to check it recently. The breakfast was food-desert quality: sugary pastries, flavored yogurts with additives, minimal fresh fruit - just like at the Santee Hampton which I thought was just a geographical issue, but no. I guess that's the cheapest way to go, but it doesn't inspire loyalty. I may need to switch brands. Finally: they didn't send an after-visit survey as all other Hilton properties do, so I'm making sure to post a review on all the sites. read more

Excellent location on the beach and very clean. The rooms are spacious and the bed is very comfortable. The lighting in the bathroom is excellent. The breakfast offering was the usual hotel options of egg, sausage, waffle, cereal, juices and coffee. It was nothing special, but it was hot, tasty and the breakfast area stayed well stocked and clean. Parking is very accessible and the Sunset Grill with excellent dinner choices is right across the street. read more

I pretty much only stay at Hilton chain hotels as I am a Hilton Honors member with diamond elite status. This is by far the worst Hampton I have stayed at, and I've stayed at a lot of them. First, it badly needs updating. The room decor was hideous. Second, it's not exactly on the beach but pretty far off set from it. Third, the room did not seem clean, we found a spent coke bottle along the baseboard of the bed. Housekeeping...look under the bed skirts. I booked an ocean front room with a deck. I checked in and got stuck on second floor (room 207) where we could barely see the water over the dunes. I used my points for the room and believe I got stuck on a lower level and sub par room because of it. I was fed some bs about all the upper floors were already reserved when I was checking in early and could not pick any particular room on line in advance. read more

Friendly Staff. Amber at the front desk was so lovely and had a very cute southern accent! Stephanie from Breakfast was a nice lady too. A man asked her why she got a big smile on her face. She said ''because I woke up today"! Amber informed us that their homebaked cookies served at 7pm is a must have, so we got there to have the cookies!! They were super yummy like she said. Breakfast is included and it's very standard, eggs, sausage, waffle maker, fruits, coffee, tea, yogurt, muffins, pastries, bagels, cereal, oatmeal. It's right by the beach so if you get an ocean view room, you will see the beach (with swimming pool, and maybe a small parking lot in between), but it is nice to leave the balcony door open to listen to the sound of waves. Beware: bed bugs! My friend and I were here for a three night girls weekend in September...having come here before for another girls weekend and being Hilton honors member, was familiar with Hampton Inn...reasonably priced considering hot breakfast is included. However, our room on the second floor with two queen size beds had uninvited guests. I woke up with itchy red welts all over my arms, legs, chest and back. The front desk manager saw them, assured us she had been trained to spot bed bugs and went up with us to check the bed. She spotted the tell tale blood stains and assured us we would be moved ASAP to another room and would be comped for the first night and get upgrade for reduced price...i mentioned the fabric bed skirt that could harbor these critters but she said those are mandatory. I had to get dermatologist call in prescription for cortisone and cream and remained itchy the rest of the time...managed to enjoy the touristy spots, hotel pool, etc...though got some looks from other guests...to my credit , I was discreet and didn't make a stink while others were around. The itching continued for weeks and I called the hotel thinking more than one night comped and one reduced rate was sufficient considering the discomfort and disfigurement...I called the manager who was reluctant at first to give me credit for future stay. Had to remind her I could've gone viral with this. She argued a bit , but agreed to contact her supervisor...eventually we were credited for all three nights. So folks, beware read more

Worst experience in dealing with a Hilton property. Reserved online at Hilton.com. There was no mention of an age restriction, and since 18 is the legal age in the USA booked. When arrived was told could not register or stay at this location as no one under the age of 21 was allowed. I can understand restrictions but to not offer any assistance was unacceptable also the manner in which registration was refused was terrible. The Front Desk Clerk, Kyle, was very dismissive and did not offer any assistance or recommendations. Had just stayed at The Lodge at Gulf Shores, a Hilton Hotel on 10/13 & DoubleTree in Tallahassee on 10/14. So it is not a Hilton restriction but a St. Augustine Beach decision by franchise (which I understand, just upset at the lack of assistance with another room at different property and the lack and indifference, assistance or compassion). read more

We rented two rooms here, one for our 21 year old son and one for my husband and me. We arrived well before check in. The front desk clerk had no qualms about giving us a key to use for beach access. She also took my mobile number so she could call us to let us know when our rooms would be ready. Without asking she gave us adjacent rooms with a connecting door, this was amazing for us. When we got to the rooms, they were nicer than I was expecting for a beach front hotel with balcony in the $200 price range. Well, I just really like this place. Not super cheap for a Hampton but it's on the beach so it's to be expected. Front office staff very friendly. Let me upgrade to the jacuzzi room. Mostly I wanted to be beach side rather than street side. Having the jacuzzi in the main room, not in the bathroom just made me think that my room had seen some action if you know what I mean. Liked having a pool and the ocean right there. Ate across the street so didn't need to drive anywhere. Breakfast was fine. We got a table but it's not a huge area so some had to eat in the hall. Ok this place is a joke! Sign in the lobby says fitness room and spa. Two treadmills tucked into a small room and when I asked about the spa they said that was the hot tub out back...wtf? The hotub was hardly full of water with a trickle from the jets, no bubbles no power and dirty as anything. The rooms were clean and actually kind of modernized but the staff is clueless and what they call breakfast is ridiculous. If your looking for a good beach hotel spend the extra cash and a few feet down is the Embassy suites. Yes more expensive but unbelievable inside because we went there every morning for Starbucks. Once they even gave it to us for free and said please stay, make yourselves comfortable on the many outdoor patios with fire pits. So yeah you pay more but don't you want to get treated great on vacation? The only good thing about this hotel was it was a straight 10 minute drive right into town and the fort but other than that just not a nice place or nice people. read more

We ended up at this Hampton Inn after another Hilton property (uhh, that's you "Doubletree") told us we could not adjust our reservation there by one day ("sorry, we will have to move you to another hotel. Management does not allow reservations to be changed." Wha- - -? Whatever!!! ... though ridiculous ...) In retrospect we may have lucked out because we enjoyed our brief (3 day, 2 night) stay at this Hampton Inn location. It was the first weekend in March and though the hotel (and its parking lot) was full (with spillover from Daytona's "bike week"), it was relatively quiet and people were courteous. That includes the front desk. This does seem to be an older property and it has probably been remodeled several times ... that shows. But its comfortable and (relatively) clean. This hotel offers free parking for guests (a bit of a rarity in this day and age) and you can walk to several decent restaurants (if you are inclined to walk.) There is free wi-fi as well ... getting on it is a bit wonky but once you're there its not bad. There is a decent pool area out back with a number of lounge chairs and a nice hot tub. And beyond that is beach access which should be popular with a lot of you. If you can get this property for a better price that I did (essentially "rack rate") then go ahead and book it! I found the access to (what I perceive to be) the main parts of St. Augustine to be a short drive (but that may be due to the time of year we were there?) Give this property a try, it's not bad at all. read more

First off, staff was great!!! Only reason it got a 3 star... Stayed in room 316, just for a night Asked for a double queen bed suite. Call me crazy but those must of been FULL size... They felt tiny!!!! I have stayed at Hampton inns through out the US and their quality standard for this room was not the same. ( I travel very regular due to my job although this was a family trip which is what made it even more disappointing, after my daughter had found a room at a holiday inn of some sorts in the area I told her NOWAY!!! After seeing the Hampton inn, I said to her that ( Hampton inns had better rooms) BOY DID I FEEL STUPID!!! I regret to say I was disappointed in the room. 2 minutes ago on Google Absolute mess of a hotel! I booked this hotel several weeks before my wedding because we wanted to stay in the beach. Excited we walked into check in and we're told that the hotel had no rooms even though we had a booking number. The rude lady at the desk who obviously didn't like her job offered to move us to a hotel several miles away from the wedding viburnum as she continued to check in other guest after we me. There was zero empathy and I believe that she saw that because she saw that we were having a same sex wedding she cared even less. My next step is contacting Hilton. When a person plans our wedding plans with you resort there is an obligation to that and a need to value your customers. This situation tarnished the Hilton brand as I also am a corporate traveler. read more

My husband and I checked in late on 4/20/21 with no immediate issues noted. The next morning I noticed a stain on what I initially thought was the bottom sheet on the left side of the bed. After some investigation it turned out to be multiple body fluid stains on the bed bug cover as well as the mattress pad. Also, all clean rooms should have a door seal indicating no one has entered the room since cleaning. No rooms had this seal. We were refunded 1 night and moved however no compensation enough for the lack of concern for the wellness and safety of guests. read more

I was impressed with this hotel after checking into one up the street that was dirty, dingy, and only one lock on the door. Hampton Inn was clean and the employees were friendly. We had an issue with our room and they were very quick to move us and didn't try to make us feel bad. Our room was on the first floor with a patio that was connected right to the pool/hot tub area! One wish is that there was a gate on our patio fence so we could get to the pool without having to leave the room. You couldn't possibly ask for easier access to the huge beach. Staff was very nice. The tub in our room didn't drain so we were left standing in 1" of water. I use a wheelchair & I spent more time having to get up than I did sitting because the hotel is not very wheelchair friendly. There was no fan in the bathroom so after my husband, grown son, & 2 teenage grandsons got done in there, wasn't too pleasant to try to fall asleep. The breakfast was just horrible. We couldn't eat there. The coffee was mud & the food was cold. The A/C never stopped running so it was cold in the room even though we had set it up pretty high. Higher than we are used to. Our family has visited this hotel three years in a row and this is by far the worst experience we have had and we won't be coming back - it was that bad. First, constant overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke enveloped the floor we were on. It was obviously coming from a particular room. We heard several folks complain to the front desk but after two days it didn't seem to change - in fact it was worse. This was a non smoking floor and we have kids with asthma. Next, breakfast: by 8:30am several days in a row now, there were no coffee cups in site, and at that time breakfast consisted of a few pieces of sausage left. Breakfast ends at 10. Cleaning crew: sometimes would show up at 9am and other times not show up until 5:30pm. Never knew when they would be around. One day we came back from an outing to find our door had not been shut completely and was left open for anyone to walk right on in and help themselves to or valuables. The fitness room: rusty weights and a broken treadmill. Looks like no working out for us other than a morning run in the beach. WiFi: spotty service at best. Decor and cleanliness of the rooms: three mismatched lamps - an 1/8th of dust/debris on the lamp shade and top of lamp. Spill marks on fridge. Bed cover had a big blue stain, sand in the "clean" sheets, and what I want to believe was just a chocolate smear on one of the pillows. My daughter and I went out and bought our own blankets and wrapped up in those instead of taking a chance with what might be on the bed. Stains on the bathroom walls. Hairs in the dresser drawers. Gross all the way around. The pool: red ants everywhere, sticky dirty tables and chairs and this was first thing in the morning. The elevator: one of the two would start to shut and there was no sensor if someone was walking in when it was shutting, you either had to move really fast or rush losing a limb. Very dangerous situation with little kids or elderly folks. Disappointing all the way around. read more

Is this a joke? As far as I know, part of vacation is being able to relax. That's pretty difficult to do when the rooms seem to always have some sort of problem. (This is related to my experience and other yelp experiences) First room we get to has a broken thermostat.. Okay, fine. We get switched into a smaller room with two "queen" size beds. I put quotations around the word queen, because somewhere, someone decided full size beds constitute queen size. Interesting. My girlfriend and I then go about our business, see downtown St. Augustine, grab a bite to eat, load up on some booze and come back. Once I've downed enough to feel a bit better about the situation it's time to get some sleep. Wait, I'd better put something in my stomach to soak up some of the booze so I don't wake up with a headache. Well, low and behold the microwave doesn't work! Perfect. I even tried a different wall outlet, that wasn't the issue. They straight up leave broken equipment in their rooms. Do they not have the time to check things like thermostats and microwaves? I saw in another review that someone's TV was broken. Other things of note: There isn't much room for parking... at all. The mini-fridge in the room we were moved to does not have a little freezer section, yet the original room with the broken thermostat did. It's almost as if these rooms are comprised of various degrees of broken equipment that are thrown together. Then they charge people to stay in these rooms and find out what they couldn't be bothered to replace. The only reason this place gets 2 stars is because the staff are friendly and apologetic. That's nice and all. It doesn't fix the condition of these rooms though. Save your money. Sleep in your car. At least you'll have a reasonable expectation of what's in store for you. And you won't pay a substantial amount of money for a bad time. read more

This was a great little hotel. We participated in a race in St Augusting Beach and the race had this hotel listed as a good place to stay, because it was close. I'm so happy we ended up getting a room here. I first want to say, when booking a room here, call and ask for a room above the 2nd floor. The beach has some dunes, so if you want to see the beach from your room, you need 3rd or 4th floor. What I really liked about the hotel is the oceanview rooms had balconies. The east coast is just beautiful and if one is staying on the beach, a balcony is essential. The staff at the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. Another bonus is free parking. That was great. They also offer a free breakfast and it's not continental. They offer a good variety of foods to eat in the morning and it's nice for those in a rush to just grab a quick bite, even if it's only to hold you over until you get to a different breakfast place. I did find the bed a little hard - also the shower had zero water pressure. I feel like this always happens in hotels though. IT is relative close to downtown St. Augustine, but it's not in downtown St. Augustine - it is NOT within walking distance. However, that's just a short drive or uber away. So let me start by saying in the end this was a great hotel... However in the beginning when we first arrived after our 7 hour drive I had to take a pretty significant dunkus. I went into the lobby bathroom only to find to my horror blood vomit and fecal matter all over the place. OMFG! Well needless to say I took my dunkus elsewhere! Okay now that I got that off my chest I can talk about the room. Our room was large and clean it faced the street but still provided wonderful views. Our ac was cold and the sheets were clean. The location is great you can walk to just about any beach attraction that St. Augustine has to offer. The frat boys had the hot tub outside on lock down the entire time we were there I take this as a sign that it was a decent tub... The complimentary breakfast was good. Not great but good. The elevator didn't eat me which is another plus. I would recommend this hotel to my friends. By the looks of some of the exteriors of the competition I think we made the right decision. Hilton Garden Inn was sold out so we tried the Hampton. Beautiful hotel by the beach. Clean & modern rooms with patios. Complimentary breakfast from 6-10, complimentary cookies at 7pm, and complimentary coffee/tea/hour cocoa all the time. Friendly staff. Decent gym with updated equipment. Location is great! The beachfront description is true. We stayed in room 201, which had a beach front view. While the location should be enough to give this property 2 thumbs up, being a Hilton Honors member and frequent guest of other Hampton Inns across the country, this room needed a lot of improvement. We stayed here in October of2014. Room are clean, plenty of space. A very close walk to beach. Free wifi need a car to go to st. Augustine old town. The breakfast was a 4 out of 5 eggs, beacon, bread, fruit, waffles great coffee in the room as well as at breakfast. Highly recommend. read more

This ended up being the worst vacation for my family. We came to stay for 3 nights over the 4th of July, obviously paying the inflated rates for wanting to enjoy the holiday on the beach. After the first night, I started seeing red bumps on myself which I thought was mosquitos at first. However, the red bumps worsened and my wife eventually start developing the same symptoms. The room ended up being infested with bed bugs, so instead of being able to come home and relax, we had to go through decontamination of all our belongings in hopes that we don't contaminate our own home. I notified the hotel of the situation shortly after we checked out when it was apparent the bumps weren't mosquitos as the bumps were still showing up and we hadn't been outside since the previous afternoon, but there was no apology from the hotel or anything at all. read more
