Thoroughly disappointing. No housekeeping. Room was nice but public spaces in the hotel look like they're under maintenance, but there's no indication that they are. Paint chipping, floorboards removed. Swimming pool is ice cold. Outdoor temperature 47° f. Pool still open. Free parking, a plus. This hotel is not convenient to historic St Augustine. Don't mistake St Augustine Beach for St Augustine Florida. They're two different places about 20 mi apart. I'm not saying St Augustine Beach is not a good place, it's just not a great place to visit in the winter. Prices here were significantly lower than in St Augustine. read more

I've been staying at this Courtyard since 2019 and it's consistently a favorite! The rooms are always spotless, the beds super comfortable, and the quality for the price can't be beat. The location is amazing, right across the street from the beach for an easy stroll, and close to great spots like Kookaburra and Island Donuts. There's a restaurant and bar downstairs (which I haven't tried yet), but I really appreciate the quick-service shop in the lobby. It's perfect for grabbing a drink or snack, especially clutch after a night at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre! Highly recommend for anyone wanting a clean, comfortable, and well-located stay at the beach. read more

We booked a contracted room with a guaranteed check-in of 4:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM, yet when we arrived on time, we were told no rooms were available because management had granted too many late checkouts. We -- along with six other families -- were left waiting in the lobby for nearly two hours past check-in, with staff unable or unwilling to provide a realistic estimate of when a room would be ready. Simply stating that the hotel was at full occupancy is not an excuse -- it is a failure of planning and management. This situation reflects inefficient and lazy management. Late checkouts were clearly oversold without regard for incoming guests, and there was no urgency, accountability, or proactive communication. Guests were left in limbo while management avoided taking responsibility for the problem they created. For a Courtyard/Marriott property, this level of operational disorganization and disregard for guests is unacceptable. We will not be returning and would caution others to reconsider staying here if timely check-in matters. read more

We had a very disappointing experience. We arrived after midnight and the front desk staff informed us that the hotel was double booked and they could not honor our reservation for two queen beds. They put us in a king bed room (we were a party of two adults and two teens, one with severe special needs) and suggested someone sleep on the couch. The woman at the desk was incredibly rude and alluded that it was our fault because we booked using a third party site. The room itself was questionable with stains on the sheets and large sections of the wallpaper peeling off in the bathroom. All for almost $400 for one night, plus $35 to park the car. Not a great start! We checked in online at 2pm. We arrived @3:15pm to check in but our room want ready. Vonetta radioed several times for someone who didn't answer then she went behind the wall and started yelling at someone, it was uncomfortable. She then returned to the front desk and said our room is not ready. So we waited in the waiting area for about 35 minutes. I'm the meantime we got thirsty, so I asked Vonetta for ice which was apparently a horrible request because she got very aggravated but the other lady I think called Nisha or something like that said she could help me and assisted me with a smile. I don't ask for much but if I'm waiting for a long time at least acknowledge me and update me and help me with simple requests. We eventually got a room and we are satisfied with it so far. Let's just start with the basics. Is it dated, yup. Does it need a renovation, yup. The staff of friendly, the hotel is extremely quiet and it is clean. Location is great and near the beach. Where do I start? Mold on the bathroom ceiling, water being cut off for an hour which I see many other reviews about. We were there from Sunday to Saturday and our room was cleaned once. Housekeeping entered our room without knocking (we will be going to corporate about this) at 7:30 in the morning. Walked in and went to the bathroom where my wife was showering. We added an extra day, which we shouldn't even have done because they did not re do out hotel cards so we got locked out, then being told without our ID we couldn't get back in, (we went to the beach so our wallets weren't on us they were in the room) thankfully we had our phones so we could show them the app. The hotel itself is ok I guess, but the staff that cleans and run this place were pretty bad. Guess we will stay at their competitors now since I'm sure nothing will come from this review. Just all around a shit show at this place. We cannot believe house keeping came in without knocking then never returning. Our room was cleaned 1 out of the 8 days we were here when the front desk told us it would be every other day. read more

This is not our favorite Marriott experience by any means and we are Gold members. When we arrived the front desk staff could really care less. It's not just that they weren't smiling (that's fine we are all human and have off days) but they looked actively annoyed that we were even bothering them. We got checked in and asked about the welcome package we usually get a check in with waters and such, and were told that's been discontinued... ok interfering. That fine just curious if this is a Marriott wide thing. Elevators are unusually slow here -- ok not a problem we could use the exercise with the stairs! The beds could definitely use some love here they are well worn -- like sagging they are so well worn, like that couch dent you get from sitting on the couch years over years, that's what these beds have. And squeaky too, just like shift to sit up and they squeak. We also requested extra towels in the app like we usually do... the hotel marked it as complete but never actually brought us any additional towels -- this was quite frustrating. Twice now they have done this -- we tried again, they marked it complete and yet ... no towels. We had to actually ask at the front on our last day -- they were nice enough that time and gave us some! Overall the room is nice enough and updated I will give it that it's not too outdated like some other Marriott's we have stayed at. That's why it's a 2-star and not a 1-star. read more

BED BUGS IN ROOM 104!! We're Lifetime Gold Marriott loyalty club members and have never, before now (August 15, 2025) had a bad experience at a Marriott. We arrived late, coming directly from our home, all all three of my family members woke up itching - with bites all over!! As a journalist, I reported it to the property's GM and copied the CEO of Marriott. The CEO's office shared our concern very promptly - we weren't looking for compensation, only that the room be fumigated so other guests wouldn't get bit. The GM's reply was that Ecolab checked the room and didn't find bugs - and he didn't have it treated!! We didn't go anywhere except from the car to the room and all woke up in the middle of the night scratching these God Awful bites!! Stear clear of this flea-bag hotel - and stay at the Marriott the Historic Districe of St. Augustine - it's pristine and close to everything! read more

We stayed for a couple nights while visiting for a friend's wedding. Pros: Great location! It's a quick and easy drive to the historic area, with lots of great restaurants nearby. Friendly staff. Complimentary parking. Hotel and room were clean and well maintained. Cons: Beds were a little too firm for my liking. Water pressure in the shower could be better. The doors are really heavy and loud when they close, so there were times when I felt like I kept hearing doors slamming. If I was coming back for another weekend visit, I would absolutely stay here again. I'm not sure if I would for a longer visit, but only because I just don't think I could sleep in the bed for more than a couple nights. I've stayed in other Courtyard by Marriott locations, and they've all had really comfortable beds, so they clearly don't use the same type of mattresses in all locations. read more

Let's start by saying that I like to give my honest review and cover all the bases... The location on A1A is great and close to the beach and many restaurants within walking distance. The hotel lobby area is clean and well kept. The elevator need a major update, it's the slowest elevator that I have been at and I have spent over 20 nights on hotels a year! My issue with the elevator is that we were literally the last room near the exit door on the extreme opposite site of the elevator near the exit and I loved taking the stairs down but there was no way to access the door from outside to go back to the room, otherwise I wouldn't even have used the elevator but wanted to make a mention about it because it really annoyed me during the stay. The rooms need some minor improvements (for example toilet holders installed properly, bigger trash cans- to go food barely fits on any of them, they are so small!! , bathroom mirror seems like it's going to fall down but I guess it's meant to be installed that way). Other than that, during the morning the sunlight comes in if you open your windows or you can use the blackout shades and it will keep your room dark as intended. Your preference! The Bistro in the lobby has many choices for quick grabs, specially for breakfast, Starbucks coffee made on site as well so you get the premium service with the convenience of having it on site instead of driving to one. We tried the White Chocolate Mocha and it was a good as the one on the actual Starbucks location. Oatmeal was a pretty good size but also about $13 bucks. Expected at any restaurant/ bistros on hotel sites so nothing major here. First night we forgot to bring water to the room, went down to the lobby to buy some but the hostess was awesome and gave me 2 on the house so saved some money there :) big thanks! Even though we liked the location and it is within walking distance to the beach I think I have to issue a warning here specially to those with young kids or toddlers. You have to cross the A1A street to walk across towards the beach, there is no car parking on any of the 3 streets directly in front of the hotel. However, there is car parking nearby free of charge and about a 3 block walk to the beach. One issue I had here is that if you go with a beach cart, decks have steps instead of ramps so get ready to lift it up. The St a Augustine Beach Pier has no ramp access either, if you don't have kids or if they are older you can easily access this one but with a toddler things are very different. As my wife and I explored the area we did find some other beach spots while driving thru the A1A, closer to Fort Matanza that we probably will check out during a future visit. I went with the idea that the hotel was on the beach - like the Embassy Suite closer to the St Augustine Beach Pier- but this was on the other side of the street so just a quick note there. This one was on me for not doing better research, not on the hotel or false advertising but worthy of bringing it up. Parking was good, hotel gets pretty busy so most nights we parked towards the back. I was just really sad having to walk all the way to the front when my room was literally right in front of where I parked since there is no exterior entry even with your room key. Card will not work intentionally - trust me, I asked the hostess. Other than that it was a good stay, room service was great, Bistro was good, location was good, the cost we paid, etc. Will we stay here again in the future? That I don't know. Only due to not being on the beach during a summer beach vacation but we'll see. They are half the price as the Embassy Suites so that's something to keep in mind. read more

Marriott Courtyard hotels can be a hit or miss. I usually try to keep my expectations low so that I am happily surprised when the hotel exceeds my expectations. The Courtyard by Marriott St. Augustine Beach is one of my favorite Courtyards that I have stayed at due to the affordable rates and fantastic location. This Marriott Courtyard is located just across the street from the beach and only a fifteen minute drive from downtown St. Augustine. Tip for Marriott Bonvoy members: this hotel is a category 4 so you can use your free night credit here! My husband and I have stayed here on two separate occasions. Everything was shiny and new on our first visit five years ago. The hotel isn't fancy, but the rooms are clean and spacious, the beds are comfortable and the hotel is convenient to the beach and many great restaurants. On our most recent visit I did notice some typical wear on the carpet and shower, but overall the hotel is still clean and comfortable. Everyone we encountered at the hotel was friendly and helpful. We immediately had a pack and play delivered to our room upon our arrival. The maids were kind enough to swap out our towels and empty our trash when we missed the maid service due to conflicting nap schedules. My husband quickly made friends with the barista downstairs over our four day visit. Hotels in St. Augustine can be really expensive, but the Courtyard by Marriott St. Augustine Beach is very reasonably priced. Because the hotel isn't located downtown it is on the quieter side. I love staying on the beach and having great restaurants and nightlife just a short drive away. read more

The front desk manager altered my reservation without my approval. First off she assumed for some reason that I booked my 3 rooms through a company. I informed her that booked my rooms directly. She persisted that I tell her who I work for. Finally she asked me for my ID. My employee was covering his room but didn't have an account. She alters my reservation and signs him up. There is already a reservation for him through my account. But she for some reason decides to alter my reservation. My stepfather, who is the employee had no idea what was happening being that he's up in age and doesn't handle the booking. Does the staff get some kind of perks for signing up new members? I don't get it nor did they feel this was an issue. I received an email asking me to take the concern to a different employee. Did that and was told "It's not their business because she's their manager. Horrible experience guys. Truly sad!!! read more

Where to start? From sleazy bordering fraudulent description of location to BAD and rude staff, this hotel should be avoided, especially if you are a government employee or business professional. One might overlook 61 degree air blowing 24-7 with broken shut off valve, non-existent maintenance help and poor staff attitudes but erroneous credit card charges and an absent manager can't be overlooked. Avoid until they fix above issues. read more

We arrive, check in & at the elevator find a sign announcing the water is going to be cut off the next morning from 11-2 to resolve a sudden leak somewhere in the building- OK now - if they had disclosed that at the checkin desk I might have just left then.... Long saga short, it's almost 6:45 pm - NO water, NO guarantee of when or IF water will be restored tonight & they r still checking people in!!! We r OUT!- I'll get my points +++ back later. We stayed at this location for 4 nights for a summer Florida getaway. Located steps away from the beach and many dining options : would especially recommend the beachside diner and island doughnuts to every visitor. The staff were nice and helpful. Great selection of snacks on the first floor. Clean room. The only downsides were loud AC, slightly loud refrigerator and only 2 elevators on the property. Convenient location but dated building/facility. Very poor maintenance. Cable TV system was offline the day we checked in. The next day the plumbing/water system went offline for four hours (No showers/sinks or toilet use). This created havoc while try to dress for a wedding that evening. Would not recommend. Poor value. I remember visiting a local Marriott somewhat frequently for breakfast as a kid and was always in awe of how nice the place was at the time. This was over 20 years ago and back in Colorado, but I'd grown up thinking that Marriotts were the bees knees so choosing this location for lodging on our first vacation since about 2019 seemed foolproof. The hotel is very large and easy to find right off A1A and as you would expect to find, parking is plentiful. The City of St. Augustine has a mask mandate in place and the front desk had plexiglass barriers at each seat behind the front desk. Upon check in, note that they will put an additional "security" deposit on your card that totals 20% of your entire stay - you'll get this back when you check out assuming nothing funky happens to the room. This wasn't explicitly communicated when we checked in, though; I only knew this after reading details online prior to our stay. You are also given a parking pass for your vehicle for the duration of your visit... be diligent about placing this in the windshield as soon as you are able because your car will be towed otherwise. This parking pass is stapled to a note from management that your room will not be serviced for the duration of your stay due to safety concerns (read: COVID). This I did not mind at all, personally, but something to keep in mind if you have a large party with small children and expect there to be a need for new linens, towels, toiletries, etc. You have the option of requesting all these items from the front desk, though, in the event you should need them. The hotel itself is decently nice; the lobby appeared to be clean and was well decorated like you'd expect. What I didn't realize was that this location seemed to be more of a conference hotel as there were actually a surprising number of conference and meeting rooms on the ground level. Our room was also mostly on par with what I expected except there were pretty visible stains on the walls (ones that are obvious to the naked eye and could and should have been cleaned up... think goopy "what on earth is that??" sort of mess). The hallways seemed to always have piles of garbage outside others' doors and housekeeping carts in random areas of the hallway during the three days we were there, which was also kind of a bummer. Breakfast is sold between 7 and 11AM at the cafe right by the lobby and has a small menu of Starbucks items for sale (including coffee and bottled sodas). This same area also normally operates as a bistro in the evenings and appears to serve dinner and drinks. This would have been awesome, but the bistro was closed during our stay, unfortunately, so I can't speak to the options there. Another thing that we did not learn without having to investigate for ourselves. My bill for a three night stay came out to about $720 USD, which did not include breakfast expenses or the extra security deposit. I understand that times are a little strange, but for the cost of the room, I'd have anticipated access to all the hotel's amenities at the very least (considering it was what I paid for). Overall I'd say that our experience was very... meh. It's a little unfortunate to have paid that amount of money to receive a mediocre product, at best. The saving grace of this hotel was its location - the beach was only about a block away and options for food in the vicinity of the hotel were plentiful. It was an okay place to rest my head at night but not somewhere I'd likely stay in the future. read more

This was a nice clean property close to the beach easy to walk to restaurants too. Service was supposed to be provided every other day. We stayed five nights and only got service one day - very late in the day while we were trying to get ready for dinner. Service was good when we got it. We had to call the front desk for towels and they brought them promptly. Staff was nice when you spoke to them. We'd stay again for sure. Didn't use the pool or food services only coffee which was very good. read more

First the good: Very nice location that has a nice pool and communal areas. The beach is a short walk down the block. There is a bistro on site that opens at 7. There is a nice fireplace onsite. The rooms were comfortable although some of our linen was dirty. There is no view at this hotel. The rooms closest to the pool are a little larger (we had family in those). The bad: this location does not offer free breakfast or even coffee. Coffee would be a game changer. As someone with kids I need early morning access to both food and coffee. Coffee at least would be a small lift. There are in room coffee maker things (not a Keurig) but it was gross and you can't even bring what you like because it is a special type. Also the tiny fridge was not very cold. Don't plan on putting more than a couple bottles of water in here. read more

Tired of staying in Marriotts and loving them then showing up at ONE courtyard in Saint Augustine's beach and having it look like some other hotel brand besides Marriott. What happened to this location? Designed odd, (when you enter someone parks their motorcycle in the foyer before you enter the doors to the hotel and when shuttle buses pull up in front it blocks access into the parking lot area) not friendly to hotel guests, dirty at the bar with glasses and food left sitting at empty seats for a long period of time, staff that seems to linger and talk to one another rather than help or acknowledge a guest. The outside fire places were covered up three hours before rain was due (that was the excuse ). Other Marriott locations have gas fire places that don't need two hours to cool down after you use it, I would think at a beach resort hotel they would have better equipment. Breakfast The next morning was so disappointing with long lines and people all over the place like it was the start of a free breakfast buffet. People removed chairs from tables to sit with larger groups and left tables without chairs not being able to be utilized. No supervision or coordination to assist guests in any aspect of having breakfast. Avoid this location, what a waste of time and money and good energy. I only stay at Marriott and I am a platinum elite rewards member and would search and offbrand hotel when staying near this location. read more

Another great stay at the Courtyard St. Augustine Beach! As I mentioned in my previous review, this is a fairly new property sporting the new Courtyard concept and, during this four-night stay, I really came to appreciate how this new concept really works well for the business traveler. Between the large desk area and its roll-out table, the nicely sized side table in the entryway, and quite a few well-placed USB and power outlets (including bedside), there's lots of surfaces where you can spread out your stuff whether you're traveling for business or pleasure. The hospitality of the staff really shines here, from Marisa at check-in who already had my room upgrade ready to go on arrival (thanks, Marisa!), to all of the lovely people behind the counter who always say hello when you pass by the desk, to the friendly housekeepers who do a really nice job making sure the rooms look just right. If there's ever anything you need, whether it's something on-property or advice on where to go in the area, they're more than happy to help. My compliments to the general manager for bringing together such a great group of people. If you're searching for a hotel on Beach A1A, your search should stop right here! read more

Driving up to this Courtyard, it feels more like a four star resort! Excellent lighting and architecture, the building definitely does a great job of a local St. Augustine indigenous feel. The pool facility is 2/4 stars and leaves a bit to be desired, but I brought out my morning coffee and got some sun and ZZZs nonetheless. I also like that you can walk or bike very easily to many destinations all within a mile. I'd go back! read more

Stayed here for a few days and I really enjoyed my time at this hotel. This hotel is in a very good location. Downtown St Augustine is a 7 minute drive away, the beach is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. It is in a quiet area but there are plenty of places to eat within walking distance. The room that I had was very clean and modern and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. They have a bistro that is open for break and evening meals. The staff were all very helpful and I will definitely stay here again the next time I am in St Augustine. read more

I booked a stay for my wife and mother in law here in February. They were 10 minutes from the hotel at 11:45 pm, when I received a call that the reservation would not be honored because, "Lots of bad things had happened that day and 2 managers had quit." The poor hotel employee told me that he had been working with 7 other guests who also had their reservation canceled with no notice and that he could not find them a hotel room in St. Augustine. My wife and her 77 year old mother were left to drive around St. Augustine after midnight looking for a new hotel. The new hotel was not clean and $100 per night more than the Courtyard. I called and complained to Marriott the next day and have heard nothing from them or the Courtyard St. Augustine Beach. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. read more
