We're decided to wrap up 2025 by spending a couple nights in an actual real B&B on Saint Augustine Beach. This property fit the bill perfectly. Our room is clean, comfortable and quaint just steps from the dune walkover to reach beautiful, wide beach and the Atlantic Ocean. The made to order breakfasts each morning were filling and delicious, feeding us for a day of walking the beach or visiting Historic St. Augustine with its spectacularly illuminated decorations that were full on festive. A beautiful clean and well taken care of B&B. The grounds well were well manicured. The breakfasts were great. Lily, Dana and Andrea took care of us with great hospitality. A quick walk to beach. They provided us chairs and umbrellas for free. It felt homey. Can't wait to return. read more

My husband desperately needed a break so I booked the bed & breakfast from Hotels.com. we had the King palm room, right off the dining /social room. The main house is a bit dated, but it is quite comfortable, cozy in fact. The place is very clean and tidy, with convenient parking, a lovely garden area and direct access.ro the beach, via walk way. We enjoyed breakfast on the last day we were there, and were treated to eggs, a sausage patty with orange juice and coffee. It was a nice, comfortable, welcoming space. The only thing I can advise is, the stairway is steep. Be careful and always hold the handrail. read more

We spent an evening here for my birthday weekend surprise that I was 100% clueless about Ben doing, reasons behind only 2 stars. When checking in, you must go to the hotel part of this establishment... while not knowing what Ben had planned, he OBVIOUSLY let it be known that it was for a special occasion as he ordered the extras that they offer with the package, bottle of champagne to be waiting in the room along with chocolates from a local establishment BUT the woman checking us in must not have paid any attention as she reviewed his order with him and outlined the cost of the evening right in front of me ALONG with his extras awaiting for us in the room already. He was SO mad and we had been there all of 3 minutes. I have never even had a hotel review the cost of my night with me, it is your check in and out dates/times. When getting to the room, we were in one of the cute little private cottages. They are the cutest and the only reason this is even getting 2 stars. BUT the $50 bottle of champagne that he added on was actually a $12.00 bottle you can get from Publix and the local hand made chocolates were Godiva. Yeah about that.... I told him it was 100% the thought that counted but still, you should not advertise something that isn't what you are actually giving. Had it not been for my birthday, I would have let him take the items to the office and request a refund but I said let's just move on. Breakfast... well you have to go to their main building which is upstairs and does have a great view. When I think of a bed and breakfast, I do not think of frozen/premade food items or zero options. 2 frozen small pieces of sausage and a frozen waffle with a parfait fruit cup. Ben doesn't care for sausage so asked if there was an option for bacon and the answer was no. What if someone couldn't eat these options? What really threw me for a loop on this was when we were checking in at the hotel area, I was reading over their information and they had hanging door breakfast options order forms that those guests could choose from AND the food was brought right to their door... it had like 4 different options, you could pick the time you wanted it delivered and the options alone were way better than ours and I am sure they spent no where near what Ben did. So, yes the cottage was super cute and private... the beach was right there to be able to provide a beautiful sunset and sunrise for us but the overall experience of this bed and breakfast itself plus the costs... I think we would have been better in a regular hotel and spent way less. read more

My parents planned on visiting my family in Jacksonville for the week of Fourth of July, but they decided they wanted to make a beach trip of it while I worked through the Fourth. So, I suggested they stay somewhere on the beach until the 5th, with a plan of us doing a beach day on the Fourth. So, they ended up booking a room at Beachfront Bed & Breakfast. The day of the Fourth my mom mentioned they had a 'no guest policy', which I assumed meant no having a bunch of outside visitors coming to the hotel to party, get crazy, etc etc. to which I said "yeah, we don't plan on staying in the room at all, we just want to use the bathroom and change our baby before driving back home". However, being that my mom didn't want to offend anyone at the hotel, she told the manager that was what we planned on doing as a courtesy. Literally, she asked if we could solely use the bathroom and change our baby before driving home, again... in the room that they rented. The manager said she would need to call the owners to ask, and after waiting a couple hours the manager told them that we would not be allowed to come into the hotel at all. This is where the one star comes from. You're telling me that a 60-year old couple that's paying ~$300 a night can't allow their sober 30-year old daughter-in-law to use a bathroom and change a baby?? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. And to make matters worse, after we went to the beach and pulled our car back to the beach access to load up our chairs, the manager came up to me and my parents and said, "yeah, if you want to hang out with your family you need to stay at another hotel down the road. We want to keep the Beachfront Bed and Breakfast 'exclusive' ". LOL, exclusive?? Seriously?? That is the most ridiculous thing I've heard in my life coming from someone working in the hospitality industry -- to blatantly tell their paying customers to go somewhere else because they want to be 'exclusive'. This isn't some country club with a membership fee, this is a tiny old hotel. From the actual exclusive hotels that I've stay in the past, the one thing that they understand is that the customer comes first and they are as accommodating as possible. After all that is said, the rooms, from the pictures that I saw, look very mediocre. The 'nothing special' about this hotel combined with that terrible customer service that I experienced, I can't recommend this 'EXCLUSIVE' hotel to anyone! read more

Took the chica here for a surprise birthday getaway in the oldest city in America, and I've got to say, it was one of the nicest places I've ever stayed at. This B&B was really classy and nicely decorated to make all guests feel right at home. From the warm look and feel of the well-stacked book shelves to the cedar wood walls and the high thread count sheets, this was some beachfront luxury! This B&B is physically located right on St. Augustine Beach, and the room we stayed in (the Sea Breeze) was on the 2nd floor and offered a direct view of the Atlantic Ocean. I'm a huge fan of sunsets, but we got to witness a spectacular sunRISE while shacking up here. We could have easily stayed in the room and watched the sun come up, but opted to walk down to the beach. Amazing stuff. We didn't trek to St. Augustine to bask in the sun, sit in the jacuzzi, swim in the pool or lounge around the B&B, so we basically just SLEPT there, but we could have easily been that lazy. We went to do the touristy things like walk up 7 million stairs to the top of the lighthouse and go see the old Castillo de San Marcos Spanish fort, etc., which is all less than 10 minutes from the B&B. PROS - As close as you can get to the beach, fancy bedding, warm 1920's decor, cedar walls and floors, spacious veranda that looks onto the beach, pool, jacuzzi, hammock, kid-free, bunnies running around the back yard and all of the bikes, umbrellas and chairs you can lug to the shore. CONS - The stay was a little impersonal - The owners also own the large La Fiesta Hotel next door and they actually were there the entire time. The B&B was staffed by a house maid/cook, which is cool, but when chilling at a B&B, I think you sort of look forward to chatting up with the owners and sharing some casual stories. My only other gripe would be the breakfast; it was mad SMALL. I'd expect multiple items to be carted out to the table allowing guests to pick and choose and take as much of or as little as they want, but this wasn't the case at all. On the first morning, we were given two broiled eggs with cheese and some muffins. On the second morning, we were given one piece of French toast and two sausages. And they brought out very small glasses of orange juice (barely larger than a shot glass) and seemingly there was a 1 refill limit because if you drank the 2nd glass, another wasn't offered. I just figure that given the prices paid, they might be able to get a little more generous with the breakfast. All in all, fantastic place and would definitely return. We will just eat breakfast out in town somewhere! :) read more

Well, for a B&B I would expect more than ONE option for breakfast -- and everyone has to eat at the same time! Nice location, but pricey and tiny bathrooms. Stay across the street for 50% less and walk an extra 50 feet to the beach. read more

We loved this place! It is directly on the beach. Beautiful pool and jacuzzi. We stayed in 2 of the rooms because we decided to stay longer. I loved that this was an adults only place, so it was very quiet and peaceful. The owners take pride in every property and are hands on too. I really can't wait to go back! read more

Overall pleased with our stay, access to the beach was great, pier and restaurants just down the street but had two incidents that left me shaking my head! Breakfast was a yogurt and fruit cup along with a small (4" sq) waffle with syrup and a squirt of whipped cream! Kept waiting for the rest! Then as we were checking out, the clerk asked if we wanted to add a tip for the maid or had we left one in the room? We have stayed at 50 diff B&B's over the years and this was a first! Took wifey here for a GREAT vacation! Adjacent to the beach, full of charming decor, welcoming staff, delicious food & great weather. Clean, all-hours hot tub and private pool. Very short walk to mass transit. Free, on-our-honor use of beach towels, bikes & chairs. Luscious bed sheets and romantic views. The portions for breakfast were totally adequate (living in NYC, we learn to appreciate quality over quantity). All houseguests had to eat together (unless we slept in; then, the food was delivered to our room--sexy breakfast in bed!). Some might complain about having to eat communally, but for us, eating together is FUN! I very much enjoyed meeting the other houseguests! We even got some good advice about St. Augustine during these encounters. The owner (Lauren) was available and took plenty of time to ingratiate her guests, even offering us fresh aloe from her garden after my wife got sunburned--that is an example of excellent, personal attention! On our last day, Lauren made sure that the hotel portion allowed us to enjoy their pool and facilities after checking out but before we caught our flight home. Lauren's staff is experienced and caring. When we needed recommendations for dinner, the staff obliged us with fine suggestions. (FYI: Ice Plant Bar http://www.iceplantbar.com/ is superb.) The only deficiency I can imagine is that the walls are just a bit thin. But (and I doubt I've been unclear on this point) my wife and I don't really mind sharing space (or sounds) with other houseguests. So, the times sound traveled didn't bother us at all! I would recommend the Beachfront B&B to any couple who wants an affordable, uncomplicated, romantic vacation. Beachfront B&B did not break the bank, is staffed with courteous and kind people and an attentive owner, had immediate access to the beach, and (I almost forgot!), gave us a discount on neighboring mini-golf! The bottom line of a B&B is does it make you feel comfortable from the first moment. Arriving at the Beachfront in the beginning and each day after, my wife and I felt enveloped in upscale comforts of home. read more

My wife and I spent an awesome extended weekend here back in October 2013 to celebrate our 12 years married. I'm relatively new to B&B's although I did some culinary work for a few in my youth - I was quite excited to try out the place and I've very glad I did. Pros: The location was great. Our room was in the main house, which was beside the small pool and hot tub, a small yard with several hammocks close enough to the beach to hear the waves at night. It was beautiful. The staff was great. Every morning we had great small talk with the staff and the other visitors. Each room had a small decanter of what I think was white port wine, which was a nice touch (although I had the damnest time trying to figure out what it was at first). The breakfast was pretty good. Other yelpers did comment on the portions, I did find it not too hard to ask for seconds and I was always obliged. Cons: Our queen sized bed was totally not - it was a full. We sleep on a king at home so this was tiny for us and we were made to get real cozy. If this were the frozen north and not subtropical Florida, I wouldn't have minded so much but in the heat I need a bit more sleeping space. Bathroom was tiny. All in all, we really just needed a place to relax after spending all day in Old Town exploring and really enjoying the city. It wasn't impersonal like a hotel, the pool and beach areas were incredibly quiet and relaxing... I jump at the chance to go back with my wife someday soon. read more

Worst Bed and Breakfast I have ever stayed at. Very Poor. No easy access to the room. No pathway. Uneven ground and mounds of grass. Not suitable for someone with a disability or aged with mobility challenges. I told them I had just had surgery. No regard. The person who took my booking ignored what I said. As for breakfast. I had to climb up a flight of stairs and mess with a key to enter the room. Breakfast. I told them I cannot eat processed food. I eat eggs... only. Frittata was very dry and with bacon. No choices. Take it or leave it kind of thing. Which I couldn't eat. And, what I did taste was horrible. Tiny... When I complained at the office I was told to write an email. I asked the owner to call me. No-one did. So here I am. Oh yes, I travelled solo, so I payed top dollar - no fruit or other goodies just rules you must follow. Another thing, only one time to go for breakfast. 9am. My room was noisy... on a road people going to the beach late at night. I was told it was in a garden room and very quiet. The only thing this place has going for it is.. it is on the beach but you cannot see it unless you walk there. read more

The rooms were nice and quaint. The mattress was a bit too firm for my liking, but you get what you get. The staff was very friendly, the grounds were gorgeous and well kept, it was the perfect location. We were able to walk right on to the beach from our room, to a quiet area, that even on the Fourth of July, was not too crowded. It was extremely relaxing. The only complaint I have is our room was right below the kitchen, and when they arrived at 7am to begin prepping breakfast, they were extremely loud and it woke us up. Do not stay in Sand Dollar, for that reason. Going along with that, though, the breakfast was delicious. I would suggest this place for a low key couple, looking to stay by the pool/beach and relax. It is close to the busy part of St. Augustine beach if you want to adventure, and about 15 minutes from the main downtown area. Very convenient location. read more

This is our third time back and it was great as usual. 50ft walk to the water through fabulously maintained grounds. My wife and I appreciated the 21 and up low key vibe to the place. Great food with in a short walk or bike ride. I recommend Mango Mangos and the Sunsette Grille. Surf shop around the corner if you need a board, a bike, or a lesson on either. The cottage rooms are very spacious with a comfy bed. I haven't stayed in the actual house. Breakfast at 9am each morning was excellent. I agree that not having options for breakfast might be an issue for some, however the view from the house more than made up for it. This is the best B&B on the beach and we keep coming back. read more

What a perfect 4 days! Lauren, Lisa and John were perfect hosts - the room was lovely, well appointed and the bed, pillows and linens excellent. The proximity to undeniably one of the world's greatest beaches was fabulous. Such an amazing morning sunrise experience! We found the location to be excellent, just about an $8 uber ride into downtown, but far enough away to not feel the crowds. The hot tub, pool and immaculate grounds also a treat. We will recommend to friends and family for sure and look forward to coming back when it is not quite so hot! read more

I recently stayed at the Beachfront B&B in St Augustine for a romantic weekend getaway that my boyfriend surprised me with. This review is for the Lighthouse Cottage Room. The first inconvenience we encountered was checking in at a affiliated hotel and inn a block away where we were not staying. An ice bucket was offered to us so it meant we had to fill ice at a different location than we were staying. Upon opening the door, we almost fell on to the bed which was about 2 feet from the door. It was quite chilly in the room and noticed the the thermostat was not functioning as we could not adjust temp in the room. We immediately called the front desk and were told there was nothing we could do as all 3 cottages were regulated by one thermostat. Upon going to sleep, there was a bright light shining through our door in which the bed faces. There was no switch to turn light off. We then called again and said there was nothing we could do to turn light off and to put a towel over the glass on the door to try to eliminate the brightness. After a sleepless night of the air handler going off every five minutes outside our room, the high pitched humming of the refrigerator, the bright light outside the room and the chilly temp, we requested to talk to the owners. Upon voicing our concerns, they neither seemed apologetic or eager to remedy the situation. One owner told us we should of removed the light bulb if it was a such a big deal. I told her not only is it not our property if something breaks, but it was not our responsibility to accommodate the situation. Upon meeting the other owner, I voiced my concern about the air conditioning and temperature. He proceeded to give me a lesson on how the vents and baffling work and asked what temp would I like it at, as I would not have the opportunity to adjust it myself. We were left a note in the room stating our room was vacuumed and towels refreshed as to placate us for all the inconveniences. Those services should be automatic when refreshing a room on a 2 night stay. We stayed in the most inexpensive room as that was the only room left, however for the price that was paid, they should be able to afford something more expensive than Scott one ply toilet paper and sandpaper bath towels. We also could not get WiFi connection until Sunday morning when we left and the TV channels were all fuzzy. As for the breakfast, the only serve a small size glass of OJ that is from a carton and portions not enough to feed a grown man. The grounds were beautiful and well taken care of however if they took half the time to take care of their customers in the same manner, they would not receive such a feedback . I was also enraged to find out that they would only compensate $25 off the bill as she stated she had 30 employees. From the rates they charge and lack of inexpensive items in the room, there should be no shortage of money. We eventually received $50 off the room after much effort. Customer service was way below expectations of owning such a property and it makes me sad in the manner how things were handled. I definitely will not be returning! read more
