Stayed here March 2026 for three nights. We had been traveling around the state of FL for two weeks prior and had stayed in several hotels all over the state, so we had a basis of comparison. The first thing we ask for when checking in to a hotel, is extra coffee. ALL of the rooms we stayed in previously had one cup coffee makers with packages containing coffee discs that had enough coffee for one cup. We asked at the front desk for more than the single packet of coffee that was in the room - with a FOUR cup coffee maker - and were told NO. Only one pod per room. We explained that the pod was only enough for one cup of coffee - not four and if they were going to provide only enough coffee for one cup, then they should have a coffee maker that makes only one cup at a time. IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A KEURIG - as the manager kept telling us that they did not provide. Many other brands make single cup coffee. We ended up going to Publix for coffee and filters. Strike One. The next thing was that the parking was located under the building. We were told to park in the row of parking spots closest to the street - supposedly because they were having work done on the rest of the parking area. We were there three nights and never saw any work being done. I feel that it was because the image of having cars parked in a row closest to the street made the place look like there were more families staying there than there actually were. I don't know how many rooms this place has but I do know that the place was more than half empty. I don't like deception and when the manager told us that there was work being done on the parking lot but later finding several cars parked in the back every night, we felt deceived. Strike Two. This hotel is very old and has not been updated in a very long time - if ever. The door to our room did not close properly. There was no building security on the second floor - where we stayed. Staircases to the outside were standing open 24 hours a day. Anyone could get in to that building at any time. Also, the towels in our room were paper thin, childsize, and stained. They were disgusting. After the coffee fiasco, we did not dare to ask for other towels. They are probably all the same anyway. Strike Three. Last but not least, we noticed that the certificate in the elevator has expired. We will be reporting this to the authorities. OUT. Needless to say, we will NEVER stay here again, and we will NEVER recommend this place to ANYONE. Yes, they have low rates, but remember YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Oh, and one more thing, there are no refunds if you decide to leave - as the manager openly told us. read more

Owners are rude. They charge $25 extra per night for teenage children, and watch like a hawk from the lobby as you pull in and out to count how many people are in your car. When we left to go explore the area, they came into our room and looked thru all of our stuff, they closed our curtains, and raised our AC up from 70 to 74. When we confronted them about it, they said they were housekeeping, but they didn't make our beds, or clean anything. We would not recommend staying here, very uncomfortable service! read more

Location is walking distance from the beach with Ocean Hammock park next door! I enjoyed my stay here. My room was big and clean with a comfortable king bed. The owners, Steve, and his wife Hanna are very friendly and welcoming and as a single traveling professional, I felt very safe here. I'm also glad to have found a relaxing hotel that enforces "quiet hours" for a good night's sleep. We felt as if it we were an inconvenience to the front desk by staying here. Upon our arrival, we were welcomed by all of the signs on the lobby door..."No Visitors, No Guests, No Pets, No Smoking," and " No early check in, check in is 4:00pm." The woman at the front desk was rude and curt. Her husband, tried to be nice, but was shot a dirty look by his rude wife every time he tried to make small talk. Make sure you include ALL of the people staying in your room, upon booking your reservation, because if you don't, you will be charged $25 for the "extra" person. My brother booked the room and included himself and his wife. I ended up tagging along and they charged us an extra $25 because I was not included on the reservation at time of booking even though the room sleeps 4 people! There is limited parking, and the spaces are really close the eachother. If you have a 4x4 truck, forget it. There's no spot for you! This is the definition of a "no frills" hotel. The lobby is empty and uninviting, like the people running it. The amenities are few and far between. The shampoo/conditioner come in packets, similar to the ketchup you get at a fast food restaurant. They are good for 1 person, 1 time. Nothing is accommodated for more than 1 person. The soap looks like a very thin poker chip. Again, one use and done. The room was clean, I will give it that. The mini fridge and microwave were unplugged when we got there. We plugged in the fridge but it never got cold enough to cool down our water or soda. They were colder coming from my cooler than the fridge. Being unplugged is just another way to deter anyone from using it. The hotel, as a whole, is outdated. The carpeting is disgusting. No bedspread on the beds, just paper thin blankets and sheets. The towels are thread bare and cheap. Our balcony was shared with 3 other rooms, so whomever got to the balcony first, won! No privacy! There were people on our shared balcony from 1:30 - 3:30 am. The pool area is meant to look at and not use. There are no chaise lounge chairs so forget about laying out. There is one table with two chairs and that's it. If you do try to use the pool, be aware that you are being watched. Every so often, the front desk gentleman will come out and give you dirty looks as if you are doing something wrong by using the pool you paid for. The handicap lift was broken so if you need assistance, for get it. If you have children, don't stay here. We were told that there were elderly people staying here as we checked in, as if being told to keep your 4 kids quiet. So, put families on one floor and elderly on another. Not rocket science. The hotel was NOT booked. If you have friends/family that want to come visit you because you are in town, forget it! They are "not allowed on the premises." The only good thing about this hotel is the proximity to St. Augustine Beach. No...the hotel is NOT ON THE BEACH, nor does it have its own beach access. You have to walk, about 8 minutes, to the nearest beach access. That was the only plus this hotel had. My recommendation... go 3 blocks down to the Hampton Inn or Embassy Suites. You'll get free breakfast, beach access, early check in/late check out, amenities galore, and a friendly front desk staff. Read the other reviews, out of 37, there are only 5 5-star reviews! Our favorite hotel. The owners do not treat you like a customer. They treat you like family. They spend time to get to know you so they can reccomend local activities for you and your family. You are .25 miles from Publix, less than 2 blocks, very enjoyable walk. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Traveled 8 hours to attend a funeral and when I arrived at 3PM at the hotel they gave my room to someone else. They had EMAILED me earlier in the day to tell me my credit card was not valid and since I had not responded to them within 30 minutes of the email they gave my room to someone else. I was alone, this was a holiday weekend and there were no other rooms available in the area. There answer was NOT MY PROBLEM NOW GET OUT! They charge your room the morning BEFORE you arrive? They had my phone # they could have called. They had no concern whatsoever for a woman, alone with nowhere to stay. Karma will catch up with these horrible people. read more

The pictures on the internet is FALSE and very misleading ! We are use to chain hotels and was not expecting much, but better than what we received for the price! We have a family of four and received only two towels and one washcloth! The bedspread... ugh, I took them off the beds because I was afraid what could have been on them! The smell of the room was.... indescribable to be honest. Not sure what it smelled like. When you look at the pictures and read the description, it leads you to believe it is beach front or easy access to the beach. NOPE ! You either drive to get to the beach or walk a few blocks! The pool was clean and that is why they get a one star! However, it is 4ft to 5ft deep and no other options. We have very young children and I couldn't allow them past the steps of the pool due to the depth. We did not have breakfast at the hotel, because we needed to get on the road and head home. But I will mention the "breakfast area" had two small tables sitting next to the main entrance door. We have decided, we will stick to our chain hotels for peace of mind and stay away from "ma/pop" hotels. read more

This hotel is completely misrepresented. It was dark, cold and completely unwelcoming. We have a small service dog and they were reluctant to allow us to bring him in and demanded proof that he's a service animal and to see his "tag" He has a service animal vest and we have disability documentation. We were so turned off by their attitude we left and forfeited our complete payment. We arrived at 2:40 and although there weren't any people or cars they asked us to return at 3 to check in. Went here with a party of six thinking this little inn was directly on the beach- it's not. The beach is about one blocks walking distance. Upon walking into the inn, everything looks run down and in need of renovation. We booked two double queen rooms. In one room the fraying towels had makeup and who knows what stains and in the other there was a shoe print in the middle of the "clean" white sheets on one bed. The breakfast was stale cereal and English muffins with orange juice and coffee, so don't expect much. This is a little mom and pop inn, they do the best with what they have. read more

We really enjoyed our stay at St. Augustine Island Inn. It was in a great location on the main strip of beachfront hotels. And only a few minutes from all the shopping and sight seeing. The hotel was clean and a very reasonable price considering so close to beach access and attractions. Steve the hotel manager was kind, helpful and made us feel at home in a safe establisment. We will be visiting St.Augustine again since it is one of our favorite places to visit. We will be staying at the St.Augustine Island Inn again.. I found St. Augustine Island Inn to be fairly basic but on the good side. The room was large had two queen size beds. The AC worked great. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Towels could be upgraded a bit as they are low end and a bit rough. The pool area was clean. The walk to the beach is about 1/4 mile from the hotel on a nice walkway. There are some nice places nearby to eat but not a lot around that you can walk to. Overall, I had no complaints about this place. We were there in February and it was very quiet. We stayed the entire weekend, checked in Later evening Friday. No issues with anything rooms are clean and plenty of space. Walk to beach was great on the board walk. A lot of places to eat and shop are very close. Staff very friendly and helpful, Steve and Hanna always made sure everything was Good. Pool area is very clean and relaxing. Absolutely disgusting hotel! First of all we had to climb 3 flights of tiny stairs outside to get to the hall for the room. As soon as we opened the hall door the terrible smell & heat hit us! Then we got to the room & the bed linen was stained badly giving the impression it hadn't been cleaned. The room was hot & smelled. Owner was completely RUDE and said I couldn't get a refund because I hadn't canceled 48 hours before. Well 48 hours before I didn't know the hotel room was so disgusting!! I will start stating that this is not an ugly place. My mother and uncle made a reservation each, my mom for 3 adults and a child and my uncle two adult and one child. When we arrived at the location supposedly the reservation was for only two adults. The man charged $15 per person per day. However the rooms bring two queen beds. Our reservation ended costing $60 more than what it was. Since we arrived at 12am we had no choice but to pay it. Ok the room was a nice size however there was only towels for two persons. The owners attitude was not very welcoming to begun with and seemed annoyed and unfriendly. They offer breakfast however it's only from 730am to 930am. If I may add. When I'm on vacation my wake up time is 930 or later. So no breakfast for me. Yay!! Anyways the towels provided needs replacing, I used one and it ripped in my hands. The towels are not a full size towel either. Unless you're two years old. Lol! Now if you happen to be in an area where you may know people or have close family or friends do not invite them over, no visitors allowed neither in the pool area or the rooms. In the sign they state jacuzzi but there is no jacuzzi just a pool. Not a very professional or welcoming environment. The wife seemed nice but that was the extent of it since the husband is the face of the business. I would recommend this if you are an early bird and have a party of two persons. I'm from south Florida hotels down there offer hospitality with a smile and the towels are worthy of using. It's a small town but I expect better. Stayed 2 nights during an active renovation at the hotel. It is a hair better than camping but you have minimal dignity when you leave. The hotel appears to be replacing the carpet. The front desk staff (1 male) was extremely rude, condescending, and made threats if we lost our room key. As a doctor with some gray hair, I do not normally get this type of reception from my fellow humans. Our room was not fully cleaned during our stay although we were allotted some fresh towels on day 2. Our room toiletries included 2 bars of cheap soap, 1 of which appeared previously used. I echo previous reviews that there is a mold smell. I appreciate the coffee maker, mini fridge, and microwave. Publix is very close by. Please keep in mind that the hotel is beach "side" but not beach front. The beach is still a bit of a hike and you cannot see it due to other developments between the hotel and beach. Kudos to the owners for trying to make physical improvements but I will not return since I do not want to be treated like a toddler. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!! GO TO THE Quality Inn across the street! This was the worst hotel stay we've ever had! We will NEVER stay here again! The room on the 2nd floor had bugs!Sheets had stains, the towels were gross, these owners are soooo cheap they reuse the paper keys holder. The owner stressed NO visitors, very unfriendly like he hates his life POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! No check in before 3pm, even thought we contact them and ask to check in early. I volunteered at a homeless shelter a few years back, they were given better home! EXTREMELY RUDE!!! My friends were going to book the same hotel BUT after seeing the owner nasty attitude they went across the street to the Quality Inn. It was CHEAPER, BETTER ROOM AND MUCH BETTER BREAKFAST! After reading some of the other reviews here, I'm wondering if I stayed at the same place as these other travelers. We've been coming here for several years and it's always a quiet, clean oasis. Granted, it's not the state-of-the-art palaces you see elsewhere and there is room for improvement, but it's a short walk to the beach and a short drive into the city. Georgia traveler over the July 4th holiday with son. Hope to book this hotel again next year! The staff was very friendly and accommodated my last minute booking in the wee hours of the morning just past midnight. The woman that booked my reservation was quite accurate on the proximity to the beach from the hotel which was closest from all the other hotels. Only 1 block with a beautiful nature boardwalk that leads you to the beach. Bed was quite comfy and excellent air conditioned rooms with refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and blow dryer. Pool was my favorite spot as it is nestled nicely with beautifully kept enclosed bush garden. You might spot a gecko or two peeking out of the bushes if you go for a swim in the early morning hours like I did to get my water aerobics in. Staff manager Steve really went out of his way to recommend great local dining spots when we got there. The places he recommended did not disappoint. What's really great is that they are a pick up spot for the historical tour bus-trolley that takes you around to learn about this oldest city. read more

I didn't stay here but am writing the review based on my friends' experiences. We booked the Inn for a block of rooms for our wedding this past weekend. We ended up with 6 rooms and everyone had a terrible experience there. They were going to charge an extra $15 per night per room if we didn't book all of the rooms in the block. That was fine, we put it on our wedding website and tried to let everyone know when they asked. One of our friends was checking in didn't realize this so she was just trying to get clarification and instead of being able to handle the situation directly, they called me husband as we're trying to get ready for our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner to complain about our friend. It was very unnecessary to involve us in any of that and extremely unprofessional. Another couple booked for two nights and I even called to confirm reservations a couple weeks before. When they get there, the Inn only has them down for one night. With the Mumford and Sons concert in the area they didn't really have any other options. They said they can still find them a room at the Inn, but instead of $70-$80 somewhere in that range, they charged them $170 for one night!! That is completely greedy, disgusting, and outrageous. In order to keep their same reservation they made, they're going to more than double their price. But like I said, there were no other options for hotels so they had to take it. My friend's husband was trying to check in at that point because my friend was too upset and went outside and the woman checking them in is yelling repeatedly at her husband to bring her back in. Unreal! She was outside crying! And all this woman wanted to do is argue more. Lastly, our wedding was at 3:30. Check in for the hotel was at 3pm. The shuttle was coming to pick guests up from the wedding at 2:30pm. When we let the other hotels know, they had no issues letting people check in early and as soon as the rooms were cleaned. This place, however, was trying to charge an extra $50 for letting people check in at 1pm so they'd have time to get ready before the shuttle. One of my friends was staying at my mom's beach cottage, which is where my husband and his groomsmen were getting ready that morning. She didn't want to interfere so she was just going to shower and get ready quick in one of our friend's rooms at the Inn. As they're walking in this same woman is yelling at them "NO!! 2 people per room!!! You want extra, $25." They explained she's just getting ready and trying to stay out of the guy's way, she won't be staying the night. The woman refused and kept saying $25. There's more, they were rude to every single person that stayed there. They even begged my cousin to write a good review, and called her again leaving a VM asking. Here's the thing... you have to provide good service to get a good review!!! Under no circumstances would I recommend anyone stay here. They completely took advantage of my close friends on my wedding day and tried to make money off of them because this concert was in town and they knew they had no other options. Disgusting! The manager/owner whoever she is will try to talk her way out of anything but where was the customer service when people actually stayed there? Bottom line, we had no other problems with other hotels once we got to the area..there were no wristbands, nobody screaming at us at any of the other hotels we stayed at. They called my friend's mother 3 times in a short period and she was in class so didn't answer. When she called back she wasn't told any rooms were cancelled. When my friend arrives to check in, her reservation is missing all of a sudden. read more

We left 2 minutes after walking into our room! We arrived at 10:30 pm...but there was NO WAY we were staying. The air conditioner wasn't running so the room felt like an oven on a hot summer night!! The room smelled horrible and the door wouldn't even shut properly. Not to mention there is no security from outsiders just walking into the hallway outside your room!! We immediately went back to the front desk and asked for a refund. He said he put it back on our card but wouldn't give us any proof! Stay away! The check in process took forever, they only thing we were told was the rules of no pets and at anytime we could be asked to leave as well as at 11am the were cleaned. The room its self was what I expected, nothing fancy there was a smell when we first came in but it was just an older hotel. The staff wasnt very customer service driven at all. My youngest son left his floates near the trash, when we noticed I asked the manager if he had grabbed them, his 1st respond was no no, I wouldnt. I said really that was the only place they were, then he said he would check and 2 secounds walked right up with them. I had placed a do not desturb sign on the door after coming back from the beach, I sow they were ceaning later than normal and I needed to shower, but didn't need the door lockede in the shower the door opened and my trash was emptied! I have never stayed at a place where that wasn't honored. After my shower, I went to the lady and asked her if ahe came in my room, she said yes, when I held up the sign and said this means you don't come in, she simply said it was just me, not my husband, the only staff was the husband and wife. I then said it doesn't matter that was not ok and I felt as if my privacy had been invaded, she just keep repeating she walked in an not her husband. We then were washing cloths to leave, my husband noticed that the washer had stopped, he went to the manager and asked what to do next and was told that if we didn't like it to go to a laundromat. read more

I would never stay here again. My mom asked to see the room before we checked in and all he did was point to pictures of the room at the front desk... Not very helpful. The sheets were not clean upon arrival and the towels we were given were dirty as well. We were constantly bothered by the woman who cleans, when we told her we didnt want our room vacuummed she said our do not disturb sign had been up for too many days and she had to vacuum. When we asked for towels they were hesitant to give us any. We have 2 queen size beds in our room with only 2 people staying here. Our cousin was going to spend the night with us seeing as how we are here visiting and they were going to try and charge us extra when this room sleeps 4. Boyfriend and I stayed here for spring break since we got a good rate and the pictures online looked reasonable. Wasn't a bad stay overall. Room seemed to be clean which is always a plus. About a 10-15 minute walk to the beach. A few problems we had: when we needed more clean towels and toilet paper, we had to ask for them, which then we were finally supplied them. Also, since we flew down and did not have a car to get around on our own, we were dropped off at the hotel around 12:30 even though check in wasn't until 3. Did not think that this would be much of a problem-- we were wrong. We did not feel very welcome to say the least. The guy who waited on us did not greet us or anything, just told us check in wasn't till 3 and left it at that. We then asked if there was somewhere we could leave our luggage so we could go walk around the area and not have to haul our luggage everywhere (considering most hotels will usually help you out if you arrive early and can't check in yet, we did not think that this would be a problem), needless to say he was not very helpful and seemed very annoyed that we had even asked. So we just ended up sitting around until we could get into our room at 3. Overall, we had a good stay at the Island Inn but were pretty turned off with the way we were treated when we first arrived. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Cops called on management! Internet does not work! Randomly shuts off and has ZERO bandwidth. Air conditioner leaked and saturated half the room floor. Showed manager wife. She agreed, then husband lied to officer and said it was not wet at all. After they said they would switch rooms because it was wet. Had to keep it at 67 just to be able to breath. Breakfast is disgusting. Had to ask for milk for crappy cereal and I watched the manager add water to the milk. Then he had the nerve to claim it was 2% milk! My grandsons got sick from it! Towels were rationed and I had to demand towels for my grandsons. Not given enough for people I paid to stay. Wife argued when I asked for adequate towels. Management is rarely in the office and you will have to catch them in between their naps to get help. Sheets had crusty crap in them. Was terrified to sleep. Officer was called because the management was so out of control when I asked for refund for second night because I refused to stay. Tried to negotiate only second night refund. Management refused even when officer asked them to be fair. I have disputed the entire stay and will NOT pay for it. Officer stated that they had been called several times because of this hotel ripping off customers and not providing adequate, let alone advertised accommodations and have been inappropriate. The manager even asked me questions about my vehicle that implied he had been hanging around it peering into the windows. It was very creepy since I was the only vehicle there at the time. I didn't expect the Ritz when I checked in. Its a crap hotel and my expectations were low. But when you do not supply what you advertise and make people sick and feel unsafe, it is unacceptable! read more

The breakfast was English muffins and cereal. The rooms were clean, but not to the standards of $150 a night. Parking is congested. There are no elevators, just stairs... It's the quality of a $60 hotel for twice the price. No commodities other than a bar of soap. read more

Just stayed 4 days here with my girlfriend and it was great! Awesome price, very very clean room and pool, friendly and helpful staff, nice and quiet, and perfect location with a grocery store and many restaurants all within a mile in either direction. Nice, gorgeous walk to the beach along a nature-trail style boardwalk, far from the crowds. We really enjoyed our time here and we look forward to returning! Highly recommended! We only spent 156.00 (booked on Travelocity) on NEW YEARS EVE for a room that we knew was going to be better in pics than in person. We were wrong! Room was very large, spacious, and very accommodating. We were located in the middle of all the nice restaurants and nearby bars and a mile from the fireworks at the pier. The ONLY thing I could complain about is the decor, it did fall short of this decade but I didn't really care too much about mismatched wood, drapes, and dried flowers that were on their last petal literally. The gentleman who checked us in was very nice and full of info about how to stay away from the traffic and crazy crowds. We even lost our room key around 2 am coming back from partying. LOL no problem at all, bc he let us back into our room without hassle. Great deal for a special occasion we will def be back!!!!!!!!!! read more
